Life… It truly does get in the way sometimes.

Holly woke up to see Artemis sitting on the end of her bed. It was probably because he was sitting on her bed that she woke up, because he was causing a rather large slant in the mattress due to his weight and Holly was trying not to slide all the way down.
"What's going on?" She asked sleepily, forcing her eyes open. Artemis didn't look particularly at ease, or like he had slept much either.
"We found him" Artemis replied. It was a reply without emotion.
"You found who?"
"Wyatt. Or at least we found his base of operations. If he is there, then there is a very real chance we could end this conspiracy once and for all. Either way, I have no doubt in my mind that his HQ is going to be something of a minefield for the team to navigate, and not to mention how dangerous Wyatt is himself."
"Good" Holly replied, yawning. "When do we leave?"
"You don't" Artemis said, finally looking up to make eye contact with Holly. "It's too dangerous for you to go, so I want you to stay here, where it is safe."
"You have to be joking" Holly said. It wasn't a question. "You can't leave me behind Artemis, I am your partner. This has affected me too and I want to help bring this to an end. I've spent far too long away from you and I'm not letting you go in there alone."
"I'm not going in there alone" Artemis said. "I've got the crew from the FRA and I'm going to wake Butler up first so that he can come with me. We are a good team. But this is too dangerous for me to take you in there with me."
"I've been in dangerous situations before" Holly protested. "I can handle myself. I want to take down Wyatt Munroe as much as you do."
"Holly" Artemis said, struggling to keep his neutral expression. "Think of who Wyatt Munroe is, and what he wants to do. Think of what he stands for. His aim is to not only wipe fairies from existence, but to poison the minds of everyone else on this planet first so that they'll be in agreement with him when he does it. Genocide is only called genocide when people don't agree with it. And he will not stop until he has what he wants- just look at the lengths he's gone to just to try to shut us down. You are the last person he is going to want to see and I wouldn't be able to protect you, not from him. I won't have another death weighing on my conscience."
"I'm coming with you!" Holly nearly shouted, but Artemis shook his head.
"I'm sorry Holly, I am, but I'm afraid you don't have a choice this time. I've already handcuffed you to your bedpost because I knew you would protest."
Holly tried to stand up, but then realised that Artemis had indeed handcuffed her to her bedpost.
"Artemis, don't do this. If it's too dangerous for me then it's too dangerous for you."
"He's my problem Holly, not yours. I have to put this right."
"Arty..."
"I'm afraid I have to go now, I have a rendezvous time to keep. I know you don't like this, but I'm doing this for your protection. I'm doing this because I love you."
"Artemis" Holly said, having somewhat resigned herself to her fate. "Promise me you won't die out there. There's still so much more I need to say to you. Just come back to me."
Artemis smiled weakly.
"I'm sorry Holly. I don't make promises I can't keep."
And with that, Artemis got up and walked out of the door. Holly's heart churned inside of her chest. She wasn't ready to say goodbye.

As soon as Artemis had disappeared from her house, Holly rolled over in her bed so that she could use her free arm to snatch the comms headset from her bedside table.
"FOALY!" Holly yelled into her microphone. There was an audible screech on the other end.
"Holy Frond Holly" Foaly whimpered back at her. "It's just after sunrise, what do you want? If it's to ask about The Obelisk, I have it right here. You can stop complaining."
"No, Foaly, just listen to me" Holly said. "Artemis handcuffed me to my bed and I need you to come down and uncuff me."
All Holly got back was high pitched laughter.
"D'Arvit Holly, I know you and Artemis have only just reconnected, so you might want to try out your wild side, but I really don't need to know about what you two get up to in the bedroom. I'm never going to lose those mental images."
"NO. FOALY! AHHHH!"
Holly angrily, and somewhat embarrassed, hung up straight away. Then she called Cecily.
"Hey Holly" Cecily replied, and already Holly felt like this was going to end better. "What's up?"
"I... You know what, I just need you to come to my house. I'll explain everything once you're here."

Cecily got there quickly enough, but stopped in her tracks when she saw Holly handcuffed to her own bed. Cecily even started to blush slightly.
"No!" Holly said, exasperated. "It's not how you think, and I know even you have a dirty mind Cecily Amelia Silverfin. Artemis is going after Wyatt, and he cuffed me to stop me from going with him. So, I need you to uncuff me, so that I can go with him."
"That defies the entire logic of why he put you in this situation" Cecily said timidly.
"I'm not letting him go in there without me" Holly said stubbornly.
"Artemis told me that he didn't want you to go after Wyatt. I didn't anticipate he would do this to stop you from going. But Artemis only has a 22% chance of catching Wyatt Munroe under current circumstances, which would be increased to 39% if you were there. However, there is also a 92% chance you would not survive a face-to-face meeting with Wyatt Munroe inside his own Headquarters. I am entirely conflicted about what I should do in this situation."
"Cecily" Holly grated. "As your superior, I am asking you, kindly, to uncuff me."
Cecily looked down at her key for a good few seconds, the conflict showing in the contorted expression on her face. But, eventually, she walked over and freed Holly from the gilded cage that was her bed.
"Thank you" Holly said. Cecily hugged her, and Holly made sure she reciprocated. She had formed quite a bond with Cecily over the time they had been together.
"I just want this to be over" Cecily said quietly, catching Holly off guard, and Holly was certain Cecily was having to hold back tears. "I can't bear to see my home be torn apart in this way any longer. Even seeing Artemis and yourself strained is taking its toll. It's breaking my heart. I just want everything to be back to normal. I want my home back and I want my friends back. I may not have seen so much of you and Artemis together, but in what I have seen it's been magical. I understand why he wanted to leave you here but I'm worried it'll damage your relationship."
Cecily rarely got like this. Elves were known to be emotional creatures but Cecily was usually so resolute.
"Hey, it will be over soon, I promise" Holly said softly. "We'll get Haven back. Despite this, and as much as right now I would love to wring Artemis' neck, I have faith in him. He always finds a way. And you don't have to worry, this wasn't the first time Artemis has kept me locked up somewhere. It's kind of how we met."
"Faith won't keep someone alive" Cecily said. Holly smiled.
"Oh Cecily, you still have so much to learn. Now, we need to find out where Artemis and everyone else is heading. It's no good staying here, we can't help them from my bedroom."
"Holly..." Cecily said, then trailed off.
"What?"
"92%"
"Have some faith" Holly said, her smile growing wider. "Because there is no way in Haven I am going to let Artemis get himself killed. Not now, not ever. He's stuck with me whether he likes it or not."
