Zagreus rules his every breath.
Zagreus hunts and harroweth
All creatures in his keeping.
Zagreus sets the story's pace;
Zagreus picks his time and place;
Zagreus wears the Doctor's face
And sets his friends to weeping.
Zagreus feels his courage burn;
Zagreus knows he'll never learn;
Zagreus, checked at every turn,
Turn to himself for meaning.
Zagreus makes a fatal slip;
Zagreus haunts an empty ship;
Zagreus tries to get a grip
And feels his spirit breaking.
Zagreus ends; Zagreus starts;
Zagreus wields the darkest arts;
Zagreus holds the Doctor's hearts
And sets their fires leaping.
Zagreus shuns his former name-
It flickered when the Founder came--
Zagreus listened all the same,
The devil in him preening.
Zagreus fell; Zagreus stayed;
Zagreus forged the vorpal blade;
Zagreus saw himselves betrayed:
His deaths were of his making.
Zagreus laughed and turned aside:
The TARDIS lived; the Founder died;
Zagreus raged, Zagreus cried,
A bitter triumph reaping.
Zagreus takes a mocking bow;
Zagreus hates the Time Lords now;
Zagreus makes a bitter vow,
His universe forsaking.
Zagreus dwells where reason fled;
Zagreus lives inside your head;
Zagreus walks among the dead
And knows they're only sleeping.
