Hi Everyone! I'm sorry it took so long to get Chapter 2 out, I've just been so busy lately with School/Work, sorry for making you wait. Ive tried to correct most of the grammar/spelling errors from the original draft but please excuse me if it is not the best. I know there is a part this chapter that might not be the most accurate description of when it diverges from the real TLR darkness story-line, but it is my own creation and I'm proud of it. Once again I own none of the To Love-Ru characters or story-line, so without further interruption, here is chapter 2!
Chapter 2
Friday, August 10, 2016, 7 am
An alarm clock sounded, a girl about 16 got up from her bed
"Morning Already," she thought. She had blue eyes and long light golden blond hair. Her phone rang, it was a message
"HEY SWEETIE, HAVE A GOOD DAY AT WORK, I SHOULD BE HOME BY FRIDAY MORNING, LOVE YOU-DAD."
She got up and put on her work shirt "Jack in the box" it said. She didn't respond to the message.
Meanwhile….
"Mmmmm hot chocolate," Rito said in his sleep. "so warm and tasty."
"Ahh Rito, that's my tail, your licking my tail!"
"Huh?" He said just opening his eyes, "AHHHHH! LALA, LALA! WHY ARE YOU NAKED IN MY BED.!"
"Sorry, you just looked so comfy and It was so hot last night, and I was covered in sweat, can you forgive me?"
"Fine whatever just put on some clothes" Rito said looking away as Lala covered herself with a blanket.
"I still don't know why my uncle thought bunk beds were a good idea." Rito thought, looking away.
However, a few minutes later later Lala asked. "Hey Rito, which shirt do you like better, the one with this one or the one with the stripes."
He accidentally turned around to see Lala in a pink bra and panties, holding 2 shirts she bought at Walmart yesterday.
"Whatever I don't care, just put one on already!"
"Ok done" he said, still trying to get the image out of his mind. About a minute later the doorbell rang. Rito went over to answer, it was Carlos, obviously just had gotten out of bed
"Oh hey, what's going on?" Rito asked. Trying to not sound suspicious of what had just happened in the bedroom
"Hey, dude I get you're still adjusting to the time here, but what's with the early morning scream?"
"Oh, you heard that, yeah that was um... a bad dream?" Rito said trying to sound convincing
"Really, ...I hate when those happen" Carlos responded not even wanting to know what had happened. "Well since I'm up can I come in"
"Sure I guess, where is your mom and sister?" Rito said as Carlos walked in
They were now both in the living room which was right behind the front door. Carlos then sat on the couch and turned on the TV, making himself at home.
"My mom had work early and Nina is still asleep."
"Really I didn't wake her up" Rito said, pouring a bowl of cheerios.
"Don't worry she slept through an earthquake once"
"Good morning Carlos,"
"Morning Lala, how're you doing,"
"Great, I slept well thanks to Rito here"
"Uh Lala what are you talking, heh" he was now getting nervous Carlos would think something was up.
"ok then…"
"Hey this is going to sound weird but you've probably known my uncle longer than me, what's he like?" Rito asked.
"Well, he's a nice guy, he's good friends with my dad,"
"Your dad's a police officer, right Carlos? I saw the police car in your driveway last night." Lala asked.
"Yeah, he works at night, that's why I told Nina not to wake him yesterday."
Suddenly something on the news caught Rito's attention on the tv.
"Local authorities still have no explanation for the cause of the strange events In the sky above Sainan, Japan, a suburb of Tokyo one week ago." Explained the news anchor.
"That's right Richard, this low quality cell phone video is the only known footage of the event, as the power seemed to have gone out all over the city, the preliminary report from the Japanese government is that a large decommissioned satellite in earth's orbit suddenly started falling towards earth undetected and broke up in the atmosphere causing the damage to buildings and other structures. One of the first pieces that began to fall was believed to hit a substation providing power to the city, however many residents aren't convinced and have started to believe if possible extraterrestrial activities were involved, we will be sure to bring you more information in the coming weeks."
"In other news today the Southern California heat wave will continue into the coming weeks with highs in the high 90s and low 100s along with both higher humidity and a chance of rain later this week so stay indoors, and stay hydrated"
Rito and now Lala continued fixated on the TV, then Carlos broke the silence "Hey, Rito, Lala you two alright?"
"Yeah, we're good, you know just thinking how much 100°F is in our system." Rito replied.
"That's gotta be like 38°C right?" Lala said.
Carlos stared at them suspiciously and then brushed it off.
"Man, that's got to be one of the dumbest news stories I've ever heard. Was that place anywhere near where you guys were from"
" Huh, Nah, totally different area" Rito quickly replied.
"Why what was wrong with it?" Lala asked nervously.
"It's just that I can't believe some people actually believe aliens exist, it's like 'watch out little green men are coming down to abduct us' if aliens did exist why haven't they come to earth yet then, huh?"
Lala did not know whether to be insulted or relieved.
"Just go with it," Rito thought, hoping Lala wouldn't question it.
"Well, I've got to get going," Carlos said. "I start work at 9."
"You have a job?" Lala asked. "where do you work?"
"where do I work? You're looking at Seddon Avenue Elementary school's' off hours janitor" he replied proudly.
"Wow, a janitor, your family must be so proud." Rito said sarcastically
"Hey you may laugh, but it pays 12.75 an hour, and I work by myself, with nobody to boss me around,"
"Sounds interesting, can I come with you?." Lala asked, to both Rito and Carlos' surprise.
"You really want to come and watch me clean classrooms for 4 hours"
"Sure, I don't really have anything to do here at home, plus I really want to see what an American school is like."
"well ok, I guess" he said "meet me outside in half an hour, you want to come too, Rito?"
"No thanks, have you seen how my uncle keeps his yard, I'm going to see if I can get the grass green again"
He then walked out the door, Lala went to get ready, half an hour passed quickly, she was about to tell Rito goodbye, when he stopped her.
"Lala before you go, I want to talk to you about what Carlos said" Rito said in a serious tone.
"What did he say?"
"The thing about how he said aliens don't exist, I know it probably sounded really wrong and mean towards you, but you have to realize, he doesn't know the truth"
"Rito, it's ok I understand, like you told me yesterday, we won't tell him until we know we can trust him."
"That's also part of what I'm trying to say, Lala I'm not sure we can ever tell him,"
"What, why not?"
"Lala, look Carlos' dad is a police officer, can you imagine if he ever found out, He could turn us over to the government, our lives would be over, listen we'll talk more when you get home, just have a nice day."
Lala walked out of the house and got into Carlos' truck, the words Rito said "I'm not sure if we can ever tell him" still stuck in her head.
"Ready" Carlos asked as he started up the truck.
"Oh yeah"
"You OK?, you seem so quiet all of a sudden"
"Oh it's nothing, I'm fine "
"So how was school in Japan, is it true you have to wear school uniforms" Carlos asked as he started driving
"yeah, it was pretty normal, classes were pretty easy for me, I wish I could say the same for Rito, though. What about here in America, what should we expect?
"Hey check it out" Lala said as she looked out the window is that the school you go to,she said pointing to a sign on the side of the road "SANTA FE SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL, HOME OF THE FIGHTING SERPENTS"
"Yeah, that's the one, it's a dump isn't it."
"No it's not, it's cool how they made it all outdoors and one story."
"It looks like that because it was built in the 1950s and hasn't changed since, last year half of the computers in the computer room didn't work, and last year during my math class some guys were working on the roof and ceiling tile fell on some kid"
"Oh my gosh, was he ok?"
"yeah, this kid Zach, but it was pretty funny, he was "
" Wow, looks like school in America isn't what it seems like in the movies"
"Oh oh oh, and the best part was, when it fell and hit him the tile broke in half and the white powder that it's made out of got all over him, the look on his face was priceless, "
After Carlos had finished telling Lala the story, he pulled up to the empty parking lot of the elementary school. It was smaller than the high school, also only one story, there were no real hallways as the doors lead outside onto a concrete pathway, similar to most schools in southern California. By now it was getting hotter, and now outside the air-conditioned truck. They were both beginning to feel the heat.
"Wow I didn't think it was possible on earth to get this hot and dry." Lala said.
"Hey you're not the one who has to wear these itchy janitor clothes, it feels like there's thousands of ants all over me, come on I'll show you where the storage closet is. Don't worry once we get into a classroom I'll turn the A/C on, I just need to go get my cleaning supplies" Carlos said as they walked towards the school.
"Wait", Lala replied, "I thought in America there was no school over the summer, why do they need you here then?"
"Well yeah you're correct," Carlos replied. "but the district runs summer school classes Monday through Thursday for the kids who didn't do so well during the regular school year. I'm only scheduled to work Tuesday evenings and Fridays until the school semester starts again"
They came around a corner to a small door that read janitor on it. Carlos opened it with the keys he had, but right when he opened it several things inside came falling out on top of him.
"Carlos are you Ok?", Lala asked as Carlos had a ladder and some cleaners on top of him,
"Yeah I'm fine, I probably should have put this stuff away right, last time I was here"
He then got up and brushed himself off.
They made their way over to classroom 17 first, like Carlos promised he turned on the ac full blast, Carlos began cleaning the whiteboard and the windows. Lala was looking around at all the work from the summer school students had on the wall. Carlos then went over to the window.
"Oh shoot, I need more Windex. I'll be right back, Lala"
Carlos began walking back to the storage closet which was just around the corner, however when he turned the corner, he noticed something strange. There was someone or rather something, in front of the storage a few doors down. To Carlos it kind of looked like someone lizard or an alligator costume from behind, it looked incredibly detailed though. Carlos then walked up but stayed a safe distance.
"Excuse me, um sir, the school's closed for the summer," He said nervously. "I'm going to have to ask you to leave"
The creature didn't move.
"Look, if you don't leave I will have to call the police, and they will come and arrest you for trespassing"
The alligator man turned around Carlos then saw his glowing red eyes, and sharp razor teeth. A single sentence came out of its mouth "Where is the princess?"
"Umm excuse me?" Carlos said now slowly backing away. "You heard me, Yuuki Rito, hand over the princess or prepare to die" His hands suddenly turned to claws, and with lightning speed the alligator monster suddenly pinned Carlos to the wall by his neck this caused Carlos to drop the empty bottle of Windex he was carrying.
Back in the classroom Lala got a chill that ran down her spine. She stepped outside into the outdoor hallway and she saw an empty bottle of Windex on the ground at the hallway corner. She immediately ran over and what she saw around the corner, confirmed her fears. Carlos was pinned against the wall with one of her suitors from a planet called Alligatron. Lala didn't move for a few moments
"I'll give you one last chance Yuuki Rito, tell me where the princess is before I start doing some real damage," the suitor said, and with an effortless move of his claw, he gashed a claw-mark on Carlos' lower thigh.
"Hey Alligama, why don't you pick on someone your own size!" Lala yelled as she threw the empty bottle of Windex.
Alligama threw Carlos on the floor, at the sound of Lalas voice. "Princess Lala! I have once again come to ask for your hand in marriage." He said in a different, kinder tone of voice.
"As I said last time we met, No!. Like I would ever marry you with your temperament, especially now, after you hurt my friend. You have anger issues."
At this point Carlos had begun to drift in and out of consciousness unable to understand what was going on.
"So be it, this time however, I cannot stand by and ignore this opportunity. I will take you by force if I have to!" Alligama lunged at Lala, but Lala's strength was greater than Alligama on earth. She was easily able to overcome him and after a few punches defeat the alien within a few seconds. He was now helpless on the ground like Carlos
"Now if you ever come near me or my friends again I won't hesitate to turn you over to the Galactic Police, and you know how they deal with people like you." Lala said sternly. "And don't you dare speak of this with anyone else."
"I understand, I'm sorry, '' Alligama said. Then pressed a button on his belt and then disappeared.
Lala's sense of relief then turned to worry as she saw Carlos passed out.
Shortly after the attack, Carlos was still unconscious, he had a large claw mark on his lower leg along with scratches on his arm legs and grab marks on his face and neck Lala had managed to drag him over to the truck into the driver seat. Using one of her socks to try to stop Carlos from bleeding from his leg.
"This is bad she" thought nervously, "what am I going to say, when he wakes up he's going to want to know what happened" what could she say to the person who was just attacked by an alien suitor, sure she had managed to defeat him, but now Rito and her's secrecy could be compromised,
"They know where we are," she thought.
"I'd better call Rito, he'll know what to do" she said to herself as she got out her phone, but right as it began to ring, Carlos began waking up, and she hung up.
"ugh, awgh God, how'd I get back to my truck," he turned and saw Lala staring at him "I just had the craziest dream, some alligator guy attacked me kept asking for some princess or something, ugh, why does my leg hurt so much" he looked down and saw what to him looked like a cloth covers in some red stain on it, he began to remove it, Lala began to have tears in her eyes as she watched, Carlos's next words made her heart drop.
"It wasn't a dream"
Carlos pushed the electronic door lock and got out the wrench used to change the tire from under the seat, looking outside to see if there was anyone still around.
"Stop crying!, Lala what the hell is going on,"
"THIS IS ALL MY FAULT!" she said, trying to hold back her tears. "IF I JUST LISTENED TO PAPA AND GONE HOME FOR A WHILE NONE OF THIS WOULD'VE EVER HAPPENED!
"Get a hold of yourself," Carlos yelled, keeping the tire iron close for protection, "Who was that? No,what was that, why did he attack me. He, is he a friend of yours!? You know it's a federal crime to trespass, much less attack someone on school property!"
Ritos' words echoed in her ears "he can never know" "please, Carlos I'm trying to keep you safe, there are some things you just shouldn't know"
"Keep me safe?!, things I shouldn't know?!, you realize there's security cameras in this school right, and I'm technically a government employee, so it's my word against yours and alligator man's in court, so you better start talking!"
She could do nothing but stare with tears in her eyes, trying to process his words for about 5 seconds.
"That's it I'm calling the cops," he said as he got out his phone and began dialing 911. "for all I know you could be planning the next—"
"WAIT!" Lala pleaded as she took Carlos' phone from his hand "I'll tell you everything, but please, PLEASE you have to promise NEVER EVER to tell anyone, what I'm about to tell you."
Carlos could see in her eyes that she wasn't lying, and that it was truly something very secretive she wanted to hide. He put the tire iron and his phone away.
"Alright,... don't leave out a detail."
So yeah that's it for chapter 2! I hope to get to get the next chapter out soon, as soon as I can spellcheck and edit the next chapter. (P.S. I combined chapters 2 and 3 into one as Ch3 was very short). Once again thank you SO Much for reading, I genuinely appreciate all your likes and support. Until next time! :)
