Chapter Two: James and The Boys
"What in Merlin's name were you two thinking? Going into a death eater meeting all alone, without even contacting the ministry first! Impulsive and foolish." The girl's trainer, Miss Kneedander shouted angrily. She looked quite a spectacle with her long hair, flying everywhere as she shook her head in dismay.
Addilyn and Lily stared at their feet, not knowing what to say. They had already apologized profusely many times during the lecture, but Miss Kneedander wasn't losing momentum...
*Later*
Shoo¬! Miss Kneedander shot a spell at Addilyn. Addilyn tiredly blocked it with a protective charm. They had been at this all morning.
"Good, good. Alright, that's it for the morning. I'm impressed with some of the talent I've seen here. Let's break for lunch." Lily and Addilyn, along with the ten others in their class wearily made their way to the door.
As they were eating their lunch in a nearby diner, Lily heard a tapping sound on the window. There was a snowy owl with a letter in its beak. It was James's owl Epic Fire Potter. Lily opened the window to Epic, and took the note, giving the owl a bite of her baloney sandwich. Epic puffed out his chest feathers proudly, then took to the sky. Laughing at the bird's familiar manner, Lily unfolded the letter.
Dearest Lily,
I hope your auror training is off to a good start and that everything is good there. I would like to see you this weekend because me and the boyz are in town. I will be at your house at noon this Saturday. Owl back if this works for you. Not much has changed here, I'm still awesome as always and Peter still stinks. I hope to see you soon.
Love,
James
Smiling at the familiar handwriting, Lily folded up the letter. Then she looked at Addilyn seriously.
"What is it?" Addilyn asked, a little concerned.
"James and the boys are coming," Lily said seriously, and then they burst into a fit of giggles.
On Friday, after a weary week of training, the girls wandered home and were greeted by Ember, their fiery-colored, glossy-haired fox. Ember was Addilyn's pet, and they both adored the sassy fox. "Well, tomorrow's Saturday so we'd better clean up the apartment a bit…cause James and the boys are coming!" Lily joked. After a quick tidying of the apartment, both girls decided to go to bed. As quick as a flash James's owl appeared on the window sill. Lily woke up with a start. "What are you doing here Epic?" Lily inquired of the owl. Addilyn was still fast asleep as Lily read the letter.
Dearest, Lily
I have a plan for tomorrow :). We should totally try to set up Sirius and Addilyn :). Then our best friends could date :). Anyways, send an owl back if you likey my plan :).
Love,
James :)
P.S. (Sorry 'bout the smiley faces I got a little carried away:)
Grabbing a piece of parchment, Lily scrawled a short reply to send with Epic.
Dear, James
I think that is a wonderful plan! We can discuss the details tomorrow. I am so excited and I think the smiley faces were a great addition to your letter:).
Love,
Lily
Lily fell asleep ecstatic to see James again tomorrow.
In the afternoon Addilyn and Lily were getting ready to go out with James and the boys. Lily wore a knee-length dress with black and white horizontal stripes. She paired the dress with a tan moto jacket. She looked beautiful and her dress went perfectly with a donut bun and a small sunflower in her hair. Addilyn was rocking one of many "classic Addilyn looks." She wore a dark purple and red flowy dress with a leather jacket and black platform boots. She finished off the look with a sparkly chunky barrette to pull back her long hair.
Ding Dong! Lily opened the door to see James and the gang on the doorstep. Sirius, as usual, had a wide mischievous grin and a mop of messy hair. Peter was standing off to the side, possibly picking his nose. Lupin was at the back of the group and looked nerdy as ever wearing one of his usual sweater vests. While walking up the porch stairs, he stumbled over his own feet. "Sorry, I'm awkward…" Addilyn and Lily stared at him for a moment.
"Lily!" James exclaimed and greeted her with a hug.
Lily and Addilyn gave everyone a quick tour of the apartment and then the four marauders and the girls all piled into James's scarlet corvette. The car had an undetectable extension charm so there was lots of room.
The car ride was brief, and they soon arrived at The Spicy Meatball, a fancy wizard Italian restaurant in Diagon Alley that they all enjoyed. The aesthetic restaurant had silky white tablecloths and was warmly lit with pastel-colored floating candles. James, Lily, Addilyn, and Sirius sat down at one of the tables, with Lupin and Peter sitting at the table to their left. Lily and James had deliberately sat at one side of the table so that Sirius and Addilyn were forced to sit together. Neither of them looked too happy about this. James suddenly stood up and pulled Sirius aside. "Just a bit of advice bro," he whispered. "Order anything but the spaghetti. Spaghetti is the worst thing to eat on a date."
Sirius scowled, "I'm not on a date?!" he hissed at James. But James was already heading back to the group.
"What do you mean?" asked Lupin who had popped up beside Sirius. Sirius jumped. "Sorry, I'm awkward…" Lupin muttered with a mischievous smile.
A tall and elegant lady dressed in an overly extravagant bright pink gown greeted them in a cheesy fake accent. "Hello, I am Madam Pouf pouf (She pronounced it "poof poof"), and I shall be your waitress."
"Well, what would you like?" the waitress asked, pulling out a notepad and a quick-notes quill. Addilyn ordered the Caprese salad and Lily ordered breadsticks and caesar salad. Peter ordered a deep-dish meat-lovers pizza.
Madam Pouf pouf looked at Lupin. "I will have the vegetarian pasta."
James glanced at the menu, he hadn't really had a chance to look at the options yet.
"I'll have the p-sta-gah-um-tea-" James stuttered, as he scanned the menu.
"Oh, the spaghetti" Madam Pouf pouf cut him off, nodding at the suspended notepad and quill. James smacked his face and was about to intervene, but the waitress was looking at Sirius expectantly. "And you?" she asked politely.
"I'll just have the- spaghetti." Sirius blurted out on accident, as he had been thinking about James's mistake.
"Splendid." As Madam Pouf pouf strode away, James and Sirius looked after her in a panic.
"NO, NOT THE SPAGHETTI!" James shouted, he was absolutely horrified, but the waitress was already halfway across the room and just figured they were very excited about their spaghetti. Lily snickered to herself because she knew if Addilyn saw how Sirius ate spaghetti, their date would end badly…
There was an uncomfortable silence while they were waiting for their food to arrive. James was secretly panicking about the spaghetti disaster that awaited. Sirius was avoiding eye contact with Addilyn. "Why aren't you guys looking at each other?" Lupin asked. Everybody looked at Lupin in surprise. "Sorry, I'm awkward." Lupin stared determinedly at the table until everyone moved on from his comment.
Thankfully their waitress arrived quickly after that. Madam Pouf pouf was carrying two heaping plates of spaghetti! She passed out their meals and told them "Enjoy your food!"
Lupin smiled, looked her right in the eye, and said "You too!" There was a pause where Lupin realized what he had said and could not refrain from face palming.
Madam Pouf pouf looked taken aback. She picked up the shiny plastic fork. "Well, if you insist!" She began eating Lupin's food with gusto. Lily butted in, as Lupin was too horribly introverted to say anything, "Sorry, he's awkward." Madam Pouf pouf looked a little flustered as she walked away.
Sirius immediately scooped up a gigantic forkful of spaghetti and started slurping it up messily. Actually messily was the understatement of a lifetime.
Chunks of meat and sauce flew in all directions. Lily and James cringed away as pieces of noodle fell into Addilyn's long glossy hair. Addilyn looked utterly revolted to be sitting beside Sirius. James had not touched his food.
"Are you going to eat that or what?" Sirius gazed hopefully at his plate. James shrugged.
" GO FOR IT BRO!" he said enthusiastically. "I've lost my appetite," James added under his breath. Sirius dumped James's plateful of spaghetti onto his platter before scarfing it down with joy. "Yum!" He exclaimed.
*AN:I know that this chapter was COMPLETELY different from the first one...Was trying to add some humor, hope it wasn't too bad. There will be more action in the next chapter*
