"Breathe." He looked at his reflection and fixed his shirt, pulling the hem and glancing at himself in the mirror before grunting in frustration and pulling the shirt over his head. "Alright, one last attempt." Lindsey muttered, reaching in the back and pulling out a blue denim button down shirt and slipped it on.

He quickly closed the buttons, leaving the top three undone and looked in the mirror again. "Better." Taking a deep breath he shook his head and headed towards the living room to get the keys to his truck.

Lindsey had no idea why he was so damn nervous, he used to be a powerful and wealthy lawyer in LA, he's dealt with demons, vampires and other types of evil's that people only have nightmares about. He shouldn't be this nervous or anxious about something like this.

It was dinner. That's all it was, it was a nice quiet dinner with the shy and quiet librarian he finally decided to ask out. She moved to town three months ago and started working at the library where Lindsey spent most of his time since he came back from Tibet.

Without thinking he scratched his chest, his fingers feeling a light electrical buzz as he touched the tattoo's that keep him hidden and alive. Hidden from the evil's that he used to protect; their only goal now was they wanted him dead. It's ironic that getting them nearly killed him in the process; but if the tattoos didn't the firm would have. He was out of LA for three months and fought countless demons that landed him in the hospital time and time again. One nurse actually thought that he might have a lover that was hurting him.

That was another thought all together…

But tonight wasn't about the past; it was about the present and the future. Lindsey was out of LA for a little over a year and a half and he was just now settled back in Oklahoma and today was another first for him. He finally got the courage to break down a wall – even a small one – and asked the blonde librarian out on a date.

Since the day she got moved there was something about her that he couldn't put his finger on; something that drew him to her and made him wonder what was behind those deep blue eyes hidden by her blonde hair. He'd seen her outside in the sun eating her lunch so he knew his old urges weren't' what was attracting him.

Lindsey pulled up to her driveway and glanced at himself in the rearview mirror and looking himself straight in the eye. "I know it's been too long since you've had normal. Get used to it; they won't find you out here." He reached over to the seat next to him and picked up the small box of chocolates – peanut butter like she always snuck behind her desk – and one tulip before stepping out of the truck.

He could see her shadow in the window and it put him at ease to see her pacing back and forth, even through the curtains he could see her shadow clearly as she fidgeted with her fingers in that nervous habit she had. She didn't need to be nervous, but knowing she was as anxious as he was made him feel better about all this.

Exhaling sharply he knocked on the door softly, his fingers running through his hair as it fell into his face again. After a moment the door opened slowly, her shy smile greeting him and when his eyes met hers he felt like he was seventeen again. "You look beautiful, Tara."
