A/N: Hi everyone! Thanks so much again for your constant contributions! I wanted to give a special shoutout to both Fizzy Starbust and leahrnd for not only giving me some really incredible characters but also really giving me options and ideas to bounce off of to make the story move along! I've also added an updated list of who is still available at the bottom as people will be joining glee clubs throughout the story not necessarily just in the first few chapters! That said, this chapter is really just to introduce the characters who were already in their respective glee clubs, as well as a few others! So if your OC is in it and doesn't have a huge part or many lines or doesn't feel exactly the way you want them too - don't worry! This chapter really was for just loosely introducing them to the audience. Thoughts and opinions are always welcome! As well as if you have any questions about your characters my PMs are ALWAYS open! Enjoy!

It was the start of a new school year. The school day itself had gone by incredibly slow but Will Schuster knew it was just because of how excited he was to get to glee. While a good portion of New Directions' members had graduated the year previous, Will was still happy to be greeted by a handful of students he recognized as those who had come back. Walking into the familiar choir room, his smile never faltered.

"Welcome back!" He couldn't contain his excitement as he entered, heads popping up to look away from their phones as he spoke, "Now I know there's a lot of things we should be thinking about – both Vocal Adrenaline and the Troubletones are under new management this year so we can't be entirely sure what to expect from either of them. However, first and foremost it's important for me to say welcome back! I know we can get our second consecutive national win, but it's going to take some work, but I know you guys are up for it." He paused to read the room, and was disappointed at what he saw.

In the far right corner, in the backrow sat senior Kyla Weston. She was tall and thin, her dark brown hair falling just over her shoulders, both her arms and legs crossed. She shot a look across the room to Oscar Nixon who was also sitting in the back row, on the opposite end and Kyla was only met by a small shrug from the much shorter, but equally as lanky junior, his messy, curly black hair falling over his brown almond shaped eyes and beige complexion. The two weren't best friends by any means but were the closest thing they had within new directions, despite it being both of their second year in the club.

Meanwhile in the front row, Mr. Schue was met only by a look of disinterest from his daughter, Delia. A senior in her fourth year of glee, with pale skin and coppery hair - obviously both traits she had gotten from her mother – worn pin straight down her back. "With all due respect," she paused her bright blue eyes fixating on Will, "I think all of our spirts are just somewhat lowered due to….most of New Directions graduating last year." She finished, each word calculated.

"While that may be true, Delia," Her father responded, pausing to look around the room at the five students who sat in it, "this year we can at least say welcome to a brand new member! Everyone please say a warm welcome to Mr. Simon Jones!"

While Delia and the female sitting next to the boy in question were the only two who clapped politely everyone did turn to look at him. He was relatively tall and slim but fit, with dark skin and big brown eyes. "Uh, hi everyone." He spoke while he was previously distracted with adjusting to his surroundings. "I'm Simon. If that wasn't obvious." His tone was calm and agreeable as he finished his introduction.

"No need to be so modest, I'm sure most of these kids here know who you are." The female next to him spoke up. They shared many of the same features – same big brown eyes, same somewhat tall, fit physique, the only major difference being her slightly lighter skin tone. "And if they don't I've certainly spoken about you enough," she laughed.

"I didn't know who it was…"Oscar spoke just loud enough to be heard by Simon who was sitting directly in front of the younger male, who only responded to Oscar with a 'sup nod.

"See, Naomi?" Will took back the focus on the room to address the female who had spoken in Simon's defense. "Just because you know your twin doesn't mean the whole room does."

"Twins?" Was the only reaction that Kyla had been able to come up with.

"Well, it's not like he's not on the football team, which our DAD assists. Or like our mom isn't famous." Naomi responded, earning her an eyeroll from Delia.

"Well he doesn't really assist the team he just sort of…assists Beiste..." Simon tried, not wanting his twin sister to prematurely paint a picture of him.

"Famous?" Oscar spoke up slightly in the back, in the same tone Kyla had asked about twins just moments ago.

"Enough," Will started, "Naomi, I understand this is your grad year and you've come to expect a lot from these people but," he paused choosing his next words carefully, "if your last two years in this group have taught you anything it should be that who you are – who your parents are – doesn't matter in here. You can be gay, straight, black, white, able bodied or- " but he was quickly caught off.

"Are you done?" Delia asked her tone firm and slightly annoyed but not entirely unkind. "We get it. And we all know that you take pride in your little team of misfits. But, respectfully, we are not all misfits. This school has evolved to see at least some of us as equals." She concluded, her tone cool.

"Enough," Will repeated, "I especially expected more out of you, Delia. We're all misfits. We're-"

"In the glee club," everyone but Simon had cut off their glee teacher and finished his sentence, each person sounding somehow more annoyed than the last, as they had all heard this spiel too many times to count.

"Fine," Will conceited, "now it's time to get brainstorming on how we're going to recruit."

The New Directions filed out of the choir room after a long session of brainstorming ideas – most to no avail – to try and get some new members to join (ideally, as the group decided, in the 9th and 10th grade as 4 of the 5 members in the group now would be graduating that spring). While most of the group paid no mind to the other students in the halls, Will couldn't help but notice the two freshmen looking at the New Directions audition sign up sheet he had posted earlier that day.

The first girl was small and had somewhat mousy features that reflected her height and stature. She wore thick-rimmed glasses that framed her bright green eyes which contrasted against her pale skin. Her wavy brown hair fell just below her shoulders and was tied half up. She was the spitting image of her father - which is exactly what Will thought when he began clue in to who the two girls were. He had spoken to both sets of parents about how their youngest children were interested in glee club and had heard from the parents that the two were close friends, so it would make sense for them to sign up to audition together.

The first young woman turned to her friend, seemingly excited about signing up for auditions. The other girl, looking somewhat unamused, stood just slightly taller than the other, but not by a whole lot. Her hair was dark and well kept, tied back in an incredibly long braid. Her slightly narrow, hooded eyes were a deep brown color and framed perfectly by her long eyelashes. She laughed slightly at something the other female said and Will began to approach them.

"C'moooon it'll be fun," The first girl spoke, a small giggle following.

"I already told you I would! Besides, it'll be…interesting to sit in the exact same room where my parents fell in love." The second girl spoke, her tone dry but friendly.

"I thought they fell in love Asian camp?" The first girl questioned, somewhat jokingly, but they were interrupted before they could continue their conversation.

"Hi uh, sorry to interrupt but, I couldn't help notice you looking at the glee sign up and…uh, you're Rey Abrams, right?" Will asked facing the first female before turning to the other, "And you're Cay Chang?"

Rey and Cay shared an exchange before Cay spoke up saying, "What's it to you?"

"Be nice," Rey ushered quietly, though Will could still hear.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm Mr. Schuster. I run the New Directions?" He tried, "I knew all four of your parents very well. Because of this glee club, actually."

"Oh of course! My siblings and I almost met you once but my mom said it wasn't worth our time or energy." Rey responded easily, not exactly processing how those words may have come across.

"That…sure sounds like Kitty," Will forced a small laugh, shaking his head. "Anyways, uh, it's really great to meet you girls. I actually have a daughter, Flora, who's around your age. She'll be trying out tomorrow as well, I look forward to seeing you both there!" He smiled, putting his best demeanor forward.

"Yeah, um, thanks. I guess." Cay said as the two girls began to walk away from him. When he was just out of earshot, Cay spoke to Rey, "How is it fair that our brothers get to go to that private school and are on the council of their glee club and we're stuck with….that?"

Rey laughed and left her with a small shrug and a simple, "At least Mr Schue's won a few national competitions…"

Meanwhile at another classroom at McKinley the new Troubletones coach was facing some pre-practice jitters. It would be one thing if they were a bad glee club that was used to having a bad coach. But under the lead of Shelby Cochran the Troubletones had shown at every regionals and most nationals while she had coached them. And as if the doubts filling her head weren't enough, now, before she even had the time to even do any more last minute preparation before the girls showed up, she was dealing with a student with bright purple hair tied into a lazy bun contrasting starkly against her tanned skin, wearing ripped jeans, faded converse and a nose ring that – to the nervous coach – seemed so big she didn't know how the student didn't fall over. Mentally checking back into what the young woman was saying to her, she was only able to catch the tail end.

"So you see, Mrs new coach lady, that is why you need to let me out up posters for my – as of right now – nameless band." The student concluded with a nod.

"My name is M- " she started but was cut off.

"Look lady, I don't have time for formalities. I'm Heather though, if you were wondering. Anyways is that a yes?" Heather tried, with a very obviously forced smile.

"Yeah, that's fine, when you're done you can just take a seat over there," the still struggling glee coach tried.

"Oh, I'm not in glee. But thanks." Heather smiled, before moving over to start hanging her "band members wanted" and "only you can name my band" posters along the sides of the walls.

"Oh, okay, well…" She started but was cut off as she saw (what she hoped and assumed) was the first actual member of the Troubletones walk in, "Audrey Fabray?! My goodness you are just the spitting image of your mother!" She made her way over to hug the student.

She wasn't wrong about her appearance – Audrey shared the same gentle, feminine facial features as her mother Quinn. She was certainly a bit curvier, albeit, slightly chubby but nothing overly noticeable. Looking up, Audrey had to take a double take. "Aunt Marley?!" She was clearly just as surprised. "I haven't seen you in…maybe years." Audrey shook her head in disbelief, her dark auburn beach curls bouncing as she did so, but hugged Marley back regardless.

"Yeah, well after your parents' separation your mom didn't really want you around Jake, you know? Maybe because he reminded her of his brother but…" Marley stopped herself before she deep dived into accidentally upsetting her niece, stepping away from her, but keeping her hands on Audrey's arms. "Leah just started going here!" She tried to divert the attention to the fact that her daughter had just transferred to McKinley. "Have you run into her yet?"

"No, I haven't," Audrey paused awkwardly. "I'll look out for her though. Am I in the right place, though? Not that I'm not excited to see you! But I was looking for Troubletones practice, is all." She concluded with a smile. She finally stepped away from Marley.

Letting out a small breath of relief, Marley finally let a relaxed smile find her lips. "You are! In the right place I mean. I am officially the new coach of Troubletones!" She shrugged, her smile staying perfectly in place as Audrey made her way over to take a seat.

"What happened to Shelby?!" A new voice echoed from outside the hallway as two girls who were virtually identical, save for the young lady who just yelled being just a slight, few inches shorter than her counterpart. They both were breathtakingly gorgeous with olive skin, shimmery dark brown hair, and big brown eyes. They were both also very fit – which was only made more obvious by their cheerios uniforms.

"Oh hey, Tia," Heather, who was still working on the tireless task of hanging up posters nodded towards the shorter one, "still as yell-y as always I see. Hi Mia!" She called out to the second twin. This earned her a dramatic eye roll from Tia and a small wave and smile from Mia.

Opting to ignore the purple haired female in the corner, Tia spoke up again. "Heather in the corner doesn't explain what happened to Shelby?!"

"She left! She invested in a new daycare across town, her daughter's working there too from what I understand? It's actually a really cute idea-" Marley piped up, her cheerful demeanor never faltering, but didn't get to finish as she was cut off.

"That doesn't explain who you are?" Mia finally spoke up, her voice was not unkind, but certainly didn't feel overly kind either.

"Oh my gosh, of course, sorry," Marley placed her hands to her head, shaking it slightly, "I'm Marley! Rose. Puckerman. But you can just call me Marley." She spat the words out with an odd sense of haste.

"And you're the new director?" Tia pressed once more.

"And my aunt! Small world isn't it?" Audrey cheesed towards the two girls she'd known from Troubletones last year. "Always good to see the McCarthy's."

"Hi Audrey, please spare the details of how you're related." Tia spoke back up, though her tone was kinder now than it had been speaking to Marley as she and her twin sister took a seat next to Audrey.

"I couldn't agree more! It's time to start brainstorming songs, setlists, fundraisers – " Audrey was cut off but her aunt and the Troubletones coach.

"Wait there's only the three of you?" Her eyebrows furrowed together, looking around the room somewhat confused and very concerned.

"Well, yeah," Audrey started, "there was a rumor Ms. Cochran wasn't coming back this year. That made most girls not come back, plus the ones who graduated…" her voice started to trail off.

"We were just hoping the rumor wasn't true." Mia shrugged, adding on to Audrey's point.

"But…we can't perform with three girls?!" Marley spoke, exasperated, and more to herself than to the small, pitiful glee club before her.

"Four girls!" A voice from the other side of the room piped up. Heather, who'd finally finished with her posters made her way to sit with the other three girls. "This is really sad. So I, Heather Porter, will be a team player and make your silly little glee club…" she paused, to strike a pose as though she was giving jazz hands but froze halfway through, "a success!"

"Well, can you sing?" Marley tried, hoping she was not pushing too far.

"I mean, everyone can sing. But only some of us can sing well. Lucky for you, I can! Sing well, I mean. I also was the drummer in the New Directions band last year, so I get how show choir works. Besides, my dads – Spencer and Alistar Porter? They won a national championship in the New Directions when they went here. So it's in my blood. Even though I'm adopted. Don't worry about it." Heather concluded with a shrug.

"Heather, our parents were there too." Tia spoke dryly. "They literally won together. They joined their glee club together. All four of our parents met because of that year."

"Yeah but we're good too. So that's good enough for me." Mia spoke in Heather's defense, to which Heather simply responded with a "thanks bestie."

"Well, can't argue with that," Marley smiled, clasping her hands together, rocking back and forth on her heels for a moment, "so, I guess let's start by talking about what songs you girls would like to do?"

McKinley wasn't the only place dealing with first day of school issues. The Dalton Academy Warblers were getting set up for their first official meeting of the new year – though the first meeting was just the council.

On the council first sat Mackenzie Sterling – though he made sure that everyone simply called him Mack. He was a tall boy, with shaggy brown hair, and bright brown eyes. He sat up straight, his uniform already beyond wrinkled just from the few hours he'd spent at school. He was a senior and was on the council last year but basically had skated by the during his time in the Warblers just based off the fact this his parents – Jeff Sterling and Nick Duvall – were both Warblers alumni. It also helped that one of his parents still worked at Dalton as an English teacher.

Sitting next to him was another senior, Tommy Abrams. He was just a few inches taller than Mack, though was somewhat lankier. He had a warm ivory complexion that complimented his hazel eyes nicely. He was similar to Mack in that they were both seniors and had been in the Warblers from the beginning – the difference was it was Tommy's first year on the council and he had started in the Warblers because his mother knew that he was a star and both parents wanted to support his dreams. His dream was of course, was to be in a famous boyband, and the Warblers was a perfect place to start.

The third gentleman was also new to the council but not new to the other two boys he sat with. Teddy Chang had grown up with the Abrams' since his parents were so close and he had been on the Warblers long enough to know and get along with Mack. He was thin and quite a bit shorter than the other boys. He had his dark hair cut very short and brown eyes, his skin a medium-dark beige. Thankfully for the other two boys, he seemed to have a good handle on what was going on – at least most of the time. Which is why it was Teddy who was the first to speak up during the meeting between councilmen.

"So, Mack," he started slowly, not necessarily wanting to step on any toes at his first official council meeting, "What do you have on the agenda for us to discuss before the first full meeting with the rest of the Warblers tomorrow?"

"Oh, uhm, I uh…" Mack stammered for a moment before admitting sheepishly. "I wrote it on my hand so I wouldn't forget…but then I forgot and washed my hands."

"Should we have this meeting outside?" Tommy piped up, "Maybe order a pizza?"

"Ooh, I could go for a pizza." Mack agreed.

"But I get to pick which kind. I can't have you ordering Hawaiian again." Tommy spoke, making a disgusted face at the word 'Hawaiian'.

"Oh!" Teddy spoke up, trying his best to keep things on track. "Auditions this week! First we have…his name is Eric Karofsky?"

"Oh! He auditioned last year. Sweet kid." Mack nodded. "His dad works here too. As the PE teacher, I think? I don't think he should even have to audition. Why do we audition people at all?"

"Less work for us!" Tommy agreed before looking back to Teddy. "Who else do we have 'auditioning'?" he put the word in air quotes.

"That's….it." Teddy responded meekly. "I mean, we certainly have enough Warblers already? But it is odd that there's only one person auditioning.

"I wouldn't worry about it." Tommy shook his head, "Lots more people will sign up. This is, in my humble opinion, the best council we've had at the Warblers in the last few years! Maybe ever!"

"We also should talk about what the first song we'll perform is? It's not a bad idea to put on an 'impromptu' show to get more people interested?" Teddy tried to keep things moving along.

"I'd rather see what the other Warblers think," Mack piped in, "it's better to come to those kinds of decisions as a group, I think. Maybe with a vote! Warblers love taking votes!" he smiled and nodded matter-of-factly.

"So let's save it for the next meeting then! If there is nothing else, someone brought up pizza earlier and I would love some," Tommy spoke, not acknowledging that he was the one who had brought it up.

Nevertheless, the three young lads stood up, adjourned their meeting and made their way to go find some non-Hawaiian pizza.

Things over at Carmel High, however, were going much less smoothly. All six of the Vocal Adrenaline students stood on the stage waiting for their director to show up. Sprits were not high as Vocal Adrenaline was fresh off yet another loss to New Directions.

"All I'm saying is this year, I'm out for blood. I'll be damned if we let those clowns beat us again. It's my senior year. I deserve this." Sydney Smythe – a senior in her fourth year of Vocal Adrenaline, started pacing around looking around at the other five students on the stage. She was tall, thin and pale with green eyes and medium brown hair tied back in a tight ponytail. She looked remarkably like her father, Sebastian - which was odd considering she was not his biological child. Despite most of the group ignoring her empty threats once again, a voice did speak up.

"That's all fine and good, but I heard Mrs. Pearce got fired." Another student spoke up. She had grey eyes and brown hair that was also pulled up in a bun, but a much messier, lazier bun. She was of slightly below medium height and had an average build but did have bit of evenly distributed chub. Not that anyone would be able to tell as their sweater was bout 3 sizes too big and hid any aspect of her body. "Something about how the way she treated us out year was out of line?" Arms crossed over her chest, she turned her attention to the boy who had piped up next.

"Emery, I asked you to stop talking about my mom that way," He rolled his eyes, but was not unkind to his friend. He too had grey eyes, but that's where the resemblance stopped. He was tall and was the poster child of medium build. But the feature most people noticed immediately was his obviously dyed platinum blonde hair.

"In Emery's defense, Xavier," a tall boy with a somewhat athletic build and a nose piercing, eyebrow piercing, and several ear piercings spoke up, "Harmony did go a little bit nuts last year. Even you have to admit that." He ran a hand through his messy brown hair.

"I think!" A petite, pale, freckly female with long strawberry blonde hair curled, and pulled halfway back spoke up. "We should change the subject! How was everyone's summer? Should we do an updated pronoun check?" She asked genuinely kindly.

"For once, I agree with our freckled little Kate over there," Sydney nodded towards her. "I am still she/they, and if ANY of you misgender me, I will sic my dad on you and he's not someone to mess with."

"I uh," Emery spoke up. "Still she/they, but I'm kind of preferring they/them? But I'm not mad either way."

"Oh of course! I'm so happy for you and will of course respect these pronouns." Xavier nodded before going in for a hug that was not reciprocated by Emery.

After Kate saying she/her and the pierced male saying he/him, Sydney had decided to move on.

"Enough with gender- " Sydney began but were immediately cut off by the last person in the room who hadn't spoken yet.

"Gender? I hardly know her!" They laughed at their own joke, putting away the Rubix cube which they had previously been making as disorganized as possible.

"Dana, of course. I almost forgot you were even here. Did you have any pronouns you'd like to add? Or are you still simply 'Just Dana?" After only being met with a shrug, Sydney opened her mouth to speak again but was interrupted.

"Is this really all of you?!" Harmony called out, entering the auditorium. However, she was not alone. She continued to speak as she made her way up to the stage, her guest following closely behind. "Regardless, we can make it work. As some of you may be aware, the school board has deemed some of my tactics "unorthodox" or "unacceptable" for teenagers. So, they've given me the joy" the word rolled off her tongue like it was venom, "of bringing in a new co-director! So please, stand up in a row, introduce yourself. Go. NOW!"

Immediately Sydney stood at one end of the stage. "Sydney Smythe. Senior and fourth year Vocal Adrenaline member. This makes me the leader and gives me seniority."

"That is absolutely not true," Harmony spoke directly to Sydney. "NEXT!"

"Kate Karofsky!" She spoke up, following Sydney's lead. "Also a senior and it's my third year in Vocal Adrenaline."

"Emery Meeks," they fell in place next to Kate, but had much less enthusiasm in their voice. "I'm a junior and in my third year of V.A."

"Xavier Pearce!" The tall blonde continued, "Just like Emery I am a junior in my third year of Vocal Adrenaline! I'm also Har- I mean, Mrs. Pearce's son." This got him a thumbs up and a smile from his mother, making him smile proudly.

The next student rolled his eyes slowly, but spoke up. "Jude Hart," the tall male spoke up, messing with his nose ring which had earned him a less than friendly glare from Harmony, "This is my second year in glee. I'm a senior."

And finally, "Dana Abrams!" Dana spoke enthusiastically though it was hard to tell if the cheery tone was genuine or sarcastic. That was just how Dana spoke. That was just how Dana was. "Sophomore in my second year at V.A.!"

"Now, may I ask who exactly she is?" Sydney questioned shooting a look at the new co-director of Vocal Adrenaline.

"I'm so glad you asked! This is-" Harmony was cut off by her co-director who had stepped in front of her, putting a hand up. Jude swore he saw smoke coming out of Harmony's ears.

"I can handle this." She spoke to Harmony and then faced the rest of the kids. "As Mrs. Pearce has explained they decided to call in some…reinforcements. And who better than one of Vocal Adrenaline's own?" She paused, lifting her hands up slightly, a small smile on her face. "My name is Unique Adams and I will co-directing Vocal Adrenaline."
