Chapter 7!
Action chapter! That meant I blitzed through it and filled it with comedic moments cause I want to get back to the daily life stuff. Izumi is so on easy mode, I'm sorry to all other characters.
User/Reviewer yomunot: Thanks as always for the reviews! Momo x Izumi in this fic is so nice to write for and be able to do fun interaction of daily life. I can't wait to get back to more of it after this chapter but I did still have some fun stuff between the 'action' of this one.
User/Reviewer Surumethekraken: Glad you've been enjoying it as Slice of Light is a relaxing fic for me to comeback to as well. There's just so much I can do with it since it's a slice of life and the sporadic plans I can have Momo and Izumi always amount to fun between the two. By the way, I love the username!
User/Reviewer EndlessChains: Writing Momo being excited for such things really makes me smile as I do it as well as having Izumi always entice or teach her things through food is another personal enjoyment of mine. RIP to the other U.A students this chapter. Thanks as always for the reviews!
To everyone who faved, followed, or reviewed thank you so much!

Chapter 7: Light Exercise
*Momo POV*
It was the day of the Sport's festival and Momo had been sending glances over to Izumi wondering if the girl was actually going to make an attempt like the creation girl had accidentally suggested.
Regardless, Momo needed to worry about her own performance and had gone through extensive research, mostly playing games, as well as trial and error to come up with some new creations. Besides that, she had dedicated a good amount of time to also building her physical strength too as it was necessary when using some of the new devices that she had added to her inventory.
Momo waited like the rest of the students for the first event to start though perhaps not everyone was pumped by Izumi's rousing 'speech' she gave for placing first at the entrance exam. Her message boiling down to the equivalent of "have fun and work well", not even do your best, but short speech aside Momo already had a plan as she let the others take off into the crowded hallway while she slowly trailed behind and worked on making her gear.
The creation girl thought that she saw something weird towards the end of the hall but she ignored it and made both her collapsible glider, a type of backpack harness to attach it to for automatic forward gliding, and a new tool that would help her flight. Despite having taken some extra time at the start, Momo was still able to catch up with everyone and ran into the same problem that they were now having as the exasperation welled inside of her.

*Midnight POV*
"Ah, how scary those things are." A sarcastic voice drawled from beside Midnight who nearly jumped out of her skin.
"WHAT THE-" The heroine shrieked in surprise, garnering the attention of the crowd and her fellow teachers.
"W-W-WHAT'S THIS!" Mic howled from the commentating booth, "1-A's MIDORIYA IZUMI IS ALREADY HERE! WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!" the Voice Hero questioned dramatically and the crowd's eyes all fell to the student. "DID SHE EVEN DO THE OBSTACLE COURSE?!" the man fussed but his fellow teacher cut in.
"Powerloader just reviewed the footage in slow motion and assured that she did it legitimately." Eraser explained and with that confirmation it couldn't be argued. "Her quirk turns her into light so she just bounced herself all the way through the race in an instant."
"Did I perhaps arrive too early?" Midoriya asked Midnight politely and the woman's stunned silence was her only answer, "I suppose I should do more then." the greenette reasoned but the heroine was still trying to wrap her head around what had happened.
Midoriya's body disappeared into particles of light that zoomed into the air and the entire arena followed the light's path as it reassembled into the girl at the top of the stadium's wall above the arena entrance. The girl had a small smile on her face as she lifted a hand and extended her pointer finger. The tip glowed in the shape of a four pointed star and multiple blips fired off. It was unclear what she was doing but the voices of the crowd rose as some people looked at the large screens that displayed the progress of the race. Every single one of the zero pointer robots' heads all exploded nearly simultaneously and the U.A students in the event were all thrown off of their paces from the sudden destruction and the mass of unmoving metal now in their way. The absurd display had gotten the crowd roaring in confusion but the Voice Hero easily cut in.
"YO ERASER WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING THAT KID?!" Mic shouted at his co-commentator who, while generally unaffected, heaved a sigh.
"That one came like that." the tired man brushed the blonde off and Midnight had no words herself.
The black haired heroine turned her attention back to some of the other screens as they had many different flying cameras to get coverage from all sides and one of the screens had now been dedicated to the light wielding greenette. The girl in question was slowly walking around on top of the wall's perimeter with a thoughtful humming.
"Perhaps the second obstacle has too many paths." Midoriya pondered and another point of her finger saw that a number of the ropes connecting the pillars were shot in half. "Still some ways forward but now they might need to work together, how nice." the light girl observed with a chuckle despite the fact that none of the other students had even made it to that obstacle yet. "Oh my, here comes Momo now." Midoriya noted and pointed towards the camera that was on her before point its attention somewhere in the course.
Sure enough, Yaoyorozu was gliding through the air with some kind of strange glider that was connected to a sort of backpack harness while a large plate of metal from one of the robots was attached to her back. In the black haired student's hands was a strange looking device that looked like what was essentially a long necked vase but Midnight had no clue what it was. The arena had been so focused on Midoriya that they hadn't noticed until the light girl pointed it out that Yaoyorozu was already gliding over the last of the second obstacle.
The creation girl was losing altitude but she had a big eager smile on her face as she hooked the vase thing across her chest to her harness. Quickly removing the scrap metal, Yaoyorozu slipped her feet into a strap that she had clearly attached to the thing before reaching up and disconnecting the glider so she was now holding it manually. A bit of worry but also excitement was on the girl's face and she suddenly collapsed the glider so it closed and was now on one of her arms as she fell towards the third obstacle, though since she had lost a lot of height it wasn't too much of a drop.
The metal hit the start of the minefield and as expected it exploded right about on contact which flung the girl back into the air and Yaoyorozu aimed the head of the device towards the ground and a powerful gust of wind assisted her ascent. Leaving the thing on for a moment until she shut it off, Yaoyorozu reconnected it to her harness and pulled at the folded glider on her arm until it reopened and the creation girl, now airborne again, resumed her flight over the rest of the field.
"What about that one?" Mic once again asked Aizawa.
"She works hard." the 1-A teacher's tired voice deadpanned while Mic shrugged off the short words.

A shiver ran along Midnight's spine as Midoriya's distinct tone called over to her, the green haired girl still warding off other teams while she addressed the black haired heroine.
"So we can leave the horse as long as we don't touch the ground then Midnight-sensei?" the light girl noted curiously as the heroine had already allowed the action by Bakugo.
"Y-yes?" Midnight replied back hesitantly, not sure what the absurd greenette was going to do.
"How lenient," Midoriya smiled to herself and her teammates, Yaoyorozu, Aoyama, and Hagakure all laughed nervously, the black haired girl then uttering apologies beneath her breath.
"I really didn't expect you to listen to me," Yaoyorozu sighed, her voice lacking energy as she worried over something.
"Magnifique, I will sparkle from over here." Aoyama posed as he agreed to whatever was happening.
"We'll cheer you on Midoriya!" Hagakure pumped everyone up and the greenette hummed pleasantly in response.
Like before, the greenette zoomed off in a flash of light and appeared above an airborne Bakugo and thankfully the flying cameras also had mics to capture noises and voices so Mic could commentate better.
"I'll be taking this Bakugo-san." Midoriya addressed the explosive blonde pleasantly as she plucked the point headband from him.
"WHAT THE-" the explosive student began before Midoriya placed a foot on his back and gave him a push back down, "YOU DAMN EMPTY HEADED LIGHT BULB!" he howled while he fell, not in a postion to be able to launch himself at the light girl, and his team was forced to fetch him.
Midoriya only gave a brief smile with her eyes before she was now standing on Todoroki's back left horse, "you don't use your left correct Todoroki-san?" the greenette asked as she aimed for the left side of his head and stole his points. A wide eyed look of surprise was on the dual quirk user's face but the greenette was already gone just as quickly as she appeared.
Literally at the speed of light, Midoriya hopped from team to team and had stolen every single headband until her team was the only one that had any points. Midnight could see and hear Mic annoying Eraser once again while gesturing into the field as Midoriya was cleaning house and Eraser looked extremely ready for a nap at this point.
"BECAUSE I GUESS, TEAM MIDORIYA IS NOW THE ONLY TEAM WITH POINTS!" Mic announced, his poor dramatic soul probably crushed by the once more one sided event.
The green haired girl then returned to her team and the defeated looks on the other students' faces said it all. However, not all the students had lost their hope yet and immediately rushed for the light girl's team, hellbent on getting any points they could.
"My, they're so angry," Midoriya's soft but sarcastic comment biting at the opposing teams, "such a surprise really."
"I don't think this is the time for that Midoriya." Hagakure tried and Aoyama's bravado was slipping a touch.
"Quite well said Hagakure-san!" their blonde teammate agreed while Yaoyorozu was counting the students that were approaching them.
"I owe all of them an apology." the creation girl claimed and Midnight didn't understand anything anymore.
The light girl folded her hands together, her fingers intertwining as they were extended out and Midoriya laughed softly at Yaoyorozu's comment, "shall I help you with the gifts?"
"Not the time Izumi." the black haired girl admonished and the greenette shrugged.
"I suppose so," the untroubled girl admitted, though whether she was teasing or not was unclear, and instantly ten beams of light shot from her fingers and curved about before her.
The light attacks either exploded in front of the assaulting teams or destroyed their attempts at retaliation. The on offense teams were forced back and each time they tried something new, Midoriya was easily ready for them despite now carrying on with another conversation.
"By the way," Midoriya caught the attention of her team, "the blonde boy and the purple boy over there," the greenette pointed out each individual, "the blonde copies quirks through touch and the purple haired boy can brainwash people who respond to him."
"What?! For real?!" the invisible girl piped up, "how'd you figure that out?"
"I simply saw it during the first and second events." Midoriya answered back matter of factly, "it might be nice to know."
"Then again how is it being decided who moves onto the next event?" Yaoyorozu wondered curiously, "you've got all the points Izumi."
"Perhaps it's the top 4 teams from before I took them," Midoriya reasoned, an eye landing on Midnight as the greenette shot more light beams at the other teams.
"Most likely that will be the case." Midnight informed the girl and her team, "though I didn't think this was going to happen."
"There's a first time for everything I suppose." Yaoyorozu tried to cheer the heroine up, seemingly used to the greenette's weirdness.
In what was a somewhat depressing finish, Midoriya managed to hold everyone off and all the other teams had no points to show for their struggle. The passing requirements were as Midoriya had asked and the top 4 teams prior to Midoriya stealing all the points were the ones to move on.
Truthfully, Midnight was fearing the third event.
-break-
The black haired heroine watched on as Bakugo's mad explosions missed the greenette over and over.
Midoriya, seemingly a slow starter despite her quirk, instantly fell under fire of the explosive blonde but all the boy's attacks passed through her or she reformed herself out of the way. It had gotten to a point where the blonde was simply slinging his quirk in a blind rage rather than using any thought and Midoriya raised two fingers that flashed brightly as Bakugo attacked. The blonde was instantly blinded and he flew through the girl as his hands naturally went to his eyes.
"I beat you like this during the heorics training too," Midoriya lectured nonchalantly as she strode over to the downed blonde who was still swiping at his eyes, "try not to lose your head so much." the greenette offered pleasantly as she slowly drew one leg back that formed into light, "now then, off you go." Midoriya stated as the kick launched Bakugo straight off of the stage.
The girl's win was announced and the next string of matches proceeded normally, considering they had to try and top Midoriya's performance from all throughout the festival, and the highlight in Midnight's opinion was of Yaoyorozu's impressive strength in which she parried Tokoyami's Dark Shadow and slammed onto it with a glowing staff before rushing the quirk user and bashing him right out. With that, the next round of matches were going to start and Midoriya's next opponent, well victim, was Todoroki.
Like the match with Bakugo, Midoriya, and Midnight wasn't sure if she was just letting her opponents do this, was already being attacked and the same result occurred of the girl slipping through or reforming around the attempts.
"You use fire too don't you Todoroki-san? It's quite cold out, be careful," Midoriya advised and the white and red haired boy frowned at her. "If you aren't serious you could be in trouble." the greenette told him and Todoroki clicked his tongue at her comment.
"Can you call what you're doing serious?" he retorted back and the light girl closed her eyes in thought as another wave of ice was dodged, this time by the girl simply taking a step to the side.
Immediately the light girl was a bit offset but in front of the dual quirk user, her right leg raised high, "I wonder." the green haired girl replied and Todoroki didn't even have time to put his arms up as the light infused kick sent him flying, the boy crashing through some of his own ice before landing outside the stage area.
Midnight deadpanned the announcement of Midoriya's victory, she had a headache.

*Momo POV*
The entire Sport's Festival had turned into an embarrassing display, at least in some capacity, for anyone not Izumi.
Now at the end of their third and final event, the one on one matches had been progressing 'well' for a handful of the students but Izumi continued absolutely dominating everything. While Momo thought that she had made the best display that she could have, the ease at which Izumi pressed on with was outshining everyone else.
The creation girl was pleased that she had managed to beat Iida with her newly learned creations, the boy moving slowly and predictably in comparison to her closest friend that moved far faster, and while not quite as effortlessly as Izumi, Momo had been able to readily take control of her own matches.
Then again, her match against Izumi hadn't been something to write home about as no matter how many things she threw at the girl nothing managed to work. She even tried to use mirrors in conjunction with other traps to even just trouble the green haired girl but that of course proved futile too as Izumi could maneuver around them. At least Momo could take pride in having the longest fight with the light girl and managing to use a shield to block the kick that was aimed at her although it still sent her careening out. With the final match out of the way and still plenty of Sport's Festival to enjoy, Momo, perhaps in a bit of payback, dragged her green haired friend around and had her eat takoyaki with her.
"Did you really have to do all that Izumi?" Momo wondered with a sigh as the two sat together on a bench and enjoyed their food.
"I thought I did quite well," the greenette suggested happily, "I should try here and there you know." she noted and Momo huffed at her teasing words.
"That's the worst part," the black haired girl groaned, "I know you weren't even trying THAT hard but it was still too much for everyone." Momo admitted with another slightly frustrated bite of her takoyaki.
"There's still room for everyone to grow," Izumi responded positively and though she sounded like she didn't mean it Momo knew that she did.
"That's true too but you need to help me make chocolate for everyone," the creation girl told her, the greenette nodding along, "also did I buy more than I thought?" Momo wondered as she stared down at her food, she swore that she had already eaten eight takoyaki but there was still one remaining. She was hungry so it didn't quite matter and she quickly ate the last one only to find another. "Izumi..." Momo flushed as the light girl laughed gently.
"I was wondering when you'd notice," the greenette revealed.
"How many did it take?"
"Only three, not including that one."
"...Can I eat it?"
"It's why I put it there."
"Thanks...good work today."
"Good work to you as well."
Notes and Stuff
As usual with this fic I moved a lot of the action along fast while still getting some of those nice moments, even had some nice Momo moments! Back to the regular slow life next chapter though, promise.
With how I've set up this Izumi I can by no means truly justify Izumi wasting much time in fights. Sure she tends to putz around a bit but generally things get finished fast, especially since Momo set her to somewhat try mode. Much like when I reread Kizaru stuff, whenever I write this Izumi all I can do is laugh and think "what an ass!" when she pretty much just screws with people.
Of course for Momo, the gliding and 'shield surfing' was like Breath of the Wild as well as she used a Gust Bellows from Skyward Sword. Even her parry and her 'rush' were in reference to BotW. I'll slowly add more things here and there from other games and series but since I had Momo play Zelda games first I kept that going here.
Like I mentioned on Sheer Cold the next chapter for The First Steps Upwards is being worked on as well as chapter 2 for Time. Not necessarily what's going up next but I want to keep everyone updated. On another note, and who knows I may just work it into the yuri anthology Lilies at Dusk, I kind of want to write something for Kamiji Moe aka Burnin'. I quite like her and as I think of powers and changes for Izumi I also next think of a pairing. Also I wanted to write more slice of life stuff as well as more older Izumi that's disconnected from heroics. I'm thinking on it.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
