Chapter 8!

Finally back to the daily life stuff and there will definitely be more following this chapter before we get to another 'action' one. It may be on a bit of the shorter end but I like what I got into this chapter and given that it's a slice of life there should be a lot more content overall.

User/Reviewer reaivyLS: Easy Mode Izumi, hard mode everyone else. Ooh that's a good suggestion and it could be fun to write out Momo learning to use a bow or other gadgets that she ends up making. I'll need to look into some things because there's a lot to pull from when it comes to games and such.

User/Reviewer Logical-Tadkins: I did want to give BotW a little more love as, in this, Momo's first game. I'll definitely branch out more eventually but that was quite a fun thing to write still. It did make me laugh as I wrote Izumi making things a touch harder for the others during the first part of the Sport's Festival.

User/Reviewer yomunot: It is kinda up for debate as there's a couple ways a could go with it should I go really in depth but even if he could then it might not go particularly well. Also nice to be able to do those little interactions between the pairing and I think I have a good number of them in this chapter. Thanks as always for your reviews!

User/Reviewer AnimeFan13579: I'd definitely agree though mainly if it was a different fic. Izumi 10-0's everyone in this one and of course it's a slice of life so it's mainly update the fun in the mundane things.

User/Reviewer EndlessChains: Thanks as always for the reviews! We're back to the regularly scheduled slow life but the Sport's Festival was still fun to do with letting Izumi give a little effort here and there. I'll keep growing Momo's imagination as well as letting the both of them do enjoyable daily life things together and of course the every so often chance for Izumi to showoff.

To everyone who faved, followed, or reviewed thank you so much!

Enjoy, more notes at the end!

Chapter 8: Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow

*Momo POV*

"So," Izumi hummed in amusement, "I suppose we'll need to get to work." the light girl remarked as Momo sighed from her own over zealousness.

"I apologize Izumi," the creation girl spoke up as she stared at the table that had been crowded with the things she had brought over, "I admit that I may have gone a bit over the top."

In the midst of the Sport's Festival aftermath, the students had gotten a couple days off and Momo had taken the first day to acquire ingredients and rest before meeting up with Izumi on the second day. With the thought of making chocolates for at least their class and teachers, Momo had gone shopping so she could make the chocolate with Izumi's help of course. Although, perhaps the black haired girl didn't have the best eye for quantity as now looking at the amount she bought it was clear that it was far too much.

"We simply need to get started then," Izumi took the situation in stride as she handed an apron over to Momo, "though it's not as if we have to use everything immediately." the greenette reminded her as she began arranging the items in a more organized fashion.

The light girl passed some of the ingredients over to Momo who set them on the counter before Izumi laid out a cutting board, some bowls, and other utensils. Once the greenette had prepared their working area her eyes shifted over to Momo, relaxed but expectant.

The creation girl wasn't quite sure what the look on the other girl's face was but decided to get things started, "I already looked up a recipe," the black haired girl commented as she moved over to the cutting board, "can you hand me the chocolate bars and a knife?" she asked of her partner who was already in motion.

Momo took and unwrapped the dark chocolate that was handed to her and the greenette also placed a just sharpened knife beside her. Thanking the green haired girl, Momo slowly and carefully chopped the bars up into smaller pieces, handling the knife the way that Izumi had shown her during previous visits. As she focused on her chopping, Momo could hear Izumi shuffling about in the background, the light girl having glanced at the recipe and preparing each station for the following steps. Transferring the chopped chocolate into a bowl, the black haired girl noted that Izumi had already lined trays for later so Momo went on to the next step.

"Izumi," the creation girl called her friend's attention, "can you help me with the next parts?" she asked, concerned about the things that she had read could go wrong during these steps especially since this was her first attempt.

The light girl smiled softly and came up beside her to peer at the recipe once more, "let's see here." Izumi hummed, "I'll make sure to keep an eye for you and tell you when it's done." the greenette offered and Momo nodded her head.

The two girls shifted over to the stove and Momo intently watched the heavy cream as she began heating it up in the saucepan. She was supposed to almost bring it to a boil and had given it a few whisks to distribute the heat more evenly. The black haired girl's thoughts wandered a bit but Izumi cut in.

"I've already made space for us to move the pot from the heat and I can tell you when we should take it off." the greenette assured, calming Momo's nerves.

"How about the pots and bowls? I didn't check them earlier." Momo fretted once more and Izumi's gentle laugh rolled through her ears comfortingly.

"I already did," Izumi explained, her voice somewhat soothing, "stay focused, you're doing fine."

"Okay, okay, right," Momo spoke to herself more than Izumi, "I-I think this is done." the black haired girl noted as small bubbles appeared in the saucepan.

Izumi's hand touched her shoulder and Momo removed the pan from the heat and placed it where Izumi had designated. The greenette handed her the bowl of chopped chocolate as well as a silicone spatula and Momo gradually mixed the two together with Izumi's assistance. Stirring until the mix was smooth, Momo saw that Izumi had set the trays nearby and she evenly distributed the chocolate mix between them before smoothing out the surfaces.

"There," Momo breathed a sigh of relief as she finished and ran the back of her hand across her forehead.

"I'll put them in the refrigerator," the light girl told her as Momo relaxed a bit, "why not taste the chocolate?" Izumi wondered to her and the creation girl was a bit confused.

"It needs to rest still." the black haired girl reminded her but the greenette simply made a curious hum.

"Oh? Aren't you holding some?" the light girl suggested and Momo realized she was talking about the spatula.

"That would be improper wouldn't it?" the girl questioned but she had to admit she did want to try it a little.

"But it is quite fun," Izumi added on, "it's just me here, feel free."

Momo smiled a little at her words and took the suggestion.

It was sweet.

Izumi had let Momo rest while she offered to clean everything up and the black haired girl took the offer, a bit tired from the new experience. They still had hours before the chocolate could come out of the fridge so there was plenty of time to do other things.

"Izumi," Momo spoke up and looked over the the greenette who turned towards here, "thanks for helping me make everything."

"Hmm? You're welcome but I didn't make anything." the light girl replied and Momo tried to deny it.

"What do you mean? You-" the black haired girl attempted but realized that Izumi had actually left all the making of the chocolate to Momo.

The creation girl gotten the ingredients, picked a recipe, and generally made it all herself. It was like their picnic in which Izumi had cooked everything while Momo was in charge of arranging and packing the food. The creation girl didn't even realize when her eyes had become misty and her throat tightened to strangle down a sudden sob. There was nothing wrong getting assistance especially if you asked for help but no matter how small it may have seemed, even Momo could do things by herself if she tried.

Izumi really was so unfair.

*Hagakure POV*

The invisible girl bounced around through the class since today would surely be an exciting one.

Class hadn't started quite yet but already the day shaped up to be interesting as Yaomomo had passed around Nama Chocolate for everyone in the class, something about a congratulations but the invisible girl reasoned it had something to do with Izumi's dominating performance at the Sport's Festival. Even the more reluctant students had accepted the gifts, Todoroki doing so politely while his eye glanced every so often to Midoriya, and Bakugo ended up being forced to take it thanks to Kirishima. The chocolates were all neatly cubed and dusted with cocoa powder then wrapped in a cute little package and the students had all thanked the creation girl.

"Where did you get these Yaomomo? They're cute!" Mina cheered happily at the gift and the black haired girl seemed a touch apprehensive before she found her voice.

"I made them." the normally well spoken girl uttered a touch quietly, her gaze darting to Midoriya once who still had her usual gentle smile.

"Really! Ah you're the best!" Mina praised, the other students joining in and the creation girl seemed relieved, the tension leaving her shoulders.

Most of the students tried a piece of their chocolates and even Sato, their resident sweets expert, gave his seal of approval at the taste.

Tooru had to smile at how Yaomomo beamed.

"I still can't figure out who to pick!" Tooru complained as she crowded Midoriya's desk with Aoyama and Yaomomo.

The class had picked their hero names and were supposed to pick an agency, either from their offers or a set list, to do some on the job training.

"It is not as if we need to pick our place to shine immediately." Aoyama chimed in.

"We do have time to make the choice so try not to rush it." Midoriya added on but like most things that she said it didn't sound believable with how she spoke.

Midoriya's looked like she had more to say and surprisingly the volume of her voice raised a little. "Heroes have a lot of obligations and restrictions that while difficult need to be done." the greenette commented and some of the students were probably confused by whatever she was doing here, "we're all human of course so we make mistakes but heroes by nature need to think of others and if you can't continue for whatever reason then that's difficult isn't it?" Midoriya continued as some of their classmates perked up.

"I don't think I get it Midoriya," Kaminari kinda laughed it off, trying to lighten things up.

"Yeah, a bit outta nowhere." Kirishima noted but Tooru, thanks to being invisible, noticed that Iida was listening in.

"Just a thought," Midoriya replied back, "hmm? then again we're not heroes yet so perhaps we should keep focused." the light girl noted though getting distracted from her original thought in the first place and the other students laughed at her lack of attention to even her own words as they went back to their own devices.

"I don't understand your hero name." Yaomomo chimed in and Midoriya brought her attention over the creation girl with that sarcastic and drawled hum.

"Isn't it quite nice?" the greenette wondered.

"Claris can mean bright or clear." the black haired girl remarked and Tooru noticed why it was a strange pick.

"It seems quite the fit I must say." Aoyama defended but Tooru shook her head at the boy's antics.

With that thought, the only thing that seemed to match was that Midoriya's quirk was literally bright. On a first impression, she might not have seemed like a generally bright person and if anything, nothing she did seemed to have a clear reasoning behind it. While admittedly Tooru liked the, in her opinion, cute name, it certainly was picked in quite the Midoriya fashion.

The light girl was so confusing.

*Momo POV*

Izumi was generally a nice person, but that didn't mean she couldn't be a touch mean

"Izumi," Momo uttered quietly as they rode the train back home, "Why did you do that?"

"Hmm" Izumi peered over questioningly from beside her.

"With Iida, earlier." The black haired girl jogged her memory, having seen how the blue haired boy stopped at her words especially in light of recent events.

"If you're willing to listen then there's a better chance that you're also willing to change." the light girl leaned back and closed her eyes as she let herself sink into the rhythm of the train while Momo contemplated her words.

For those brief moments in which Izumi 'lectured' people, she never really told them things directly. She simply presented another side or idea and then let someone figure things out themselves. Being potentially the closest person to the light girl, Momo wondered if she did it out of concern for others. People's feelings, situations, and experiences were different from each others so would Izumi's words, as someone who didn't have a hero sibling forced to retire, mean anything to Iida whoses brother and hero was just attacked by a villain? However, it was a different matter if it was Iida who realized, and perhaps admitted, that something was wrong in his own thoughts. Did Izumi really think of all these things or was it just Momo's own active mind?

"Let's go somewhere," the creation girl abruptly suggested, her thoughts were getting carried away.

"Would you like to go now?" the light girl asked, her eyes still closed as she relaxed.

"How about tomorrow?" Momo suggested, "I want to pick a place."

"Then that's what we'll do." the greenette agreed without issue and Momo leaned into her a little so their shoulders were touching.

"What are you thinking about Izumi?" the black haired girl had to know, wanting to listen to more of the girl's thoughts.

"Should I go fishing in Okinawa." the light girl answered and Momo laughed a little.

"It'd be quite the trip." the black haired girl stated though making it a mental note, "What else?"

"Is oyakodon better with more or less dashi than usual." the greenette continued on and Momo smiled as she closed her eyes too.

"Are they all food related?" the black haired girl inquired as the train's sway began to lull her.

"That'd be quite nice wouldn't it?" Izumi's sincerity hidden beneath her playful inflections.

"It would." Momo agreed, a yawn touching her lips.

"Another?"

"Yes"

"Does a carp keep its colors when it turns into a dragon."

"Is that something we can find out?"

"Mmm, maybe not."

"I'll look it up later."

"Do people dream of what they really want?"

Momo wasn't sure if she had caught that last one correctly as she world faded around her as she fell asleep.

Notes and Stuff

Izumi supporting Momo and she learns owns me currently which results in more Slice of Light chapters haha.

Nama Chocolate is a popular gift chocolate. Gotta be careful making chocolate too cause if you're not it could either separate or seize.

Dashi is stock generally made from katsuobushi which are dried shaved fish flakes as well as kombu which is kelp.

Carps turning into dragons is in reference to the dragon gate legend in which hundreds of carps swim up a waterfall, failing over and over which results in many giving up until one eventually makes it and is granted the ability to transform into a dragon by the gods.

This was part of a small batch update. The chapters should be for Slice of Light, Sheer Cold, and Time. I'm steadily working on the updates for Tiger's Bite, The First Steps Upwards, and If It All Breaks at the current time but as always sporadic updating. Been having some ideas circling in my head so I'll probably have some things for the idea dumping ground as well as the yuri anthology so that should be a nice as well and I could also just throw out some new fics just to see how they do and have them out there, we'll see.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
