A/N: Hello everyone! My apologies for this chapter taking almost a whole month, but hope you're all doing well and having a great 2022 so far! As always I've got a few things to say before getting the chapter started so just bare with me lol. I do want to apologize as this chapter is LONNNG (nearly 40k words, I clearly got carried away lol.) The formatting of this chapter is strange as well, so I apologize for that too! It's a lot to get through and there's a LOT to unpack. The second half, specifically, is a bit wonky as it's the format I'll be using for the next chapter, which I'm sure you'll all understand what I mean once you get there, but I wanted to try it out and see if it works! There are also 24(!) songs to get through all sort of at once so I apologize for that as well!
All of that aside, this chapter marks the halfway point! Which is absolutely nutty to me, and I just want to thank all of you who have submitted characters or helped come up with song suggestions, plot points, or have just let me know you're here! On that note (and I'm sure you can guess what I'm going to say) please please PLEASE let me know if you're still here and reading! Obviously, there's a lot going on in this chapter and I would LOVE to hear feedback on what's going on with your characters and the plots and that sort of thing! As I mentioned previously as well, I am going to start phasing characters out to make room for new plots, so knowing that you're here and still wanting plots is vital! Especially because, since we are at the halfway point, I'm already thinking about a potential season two and need to know if there's enough interest for that.
On that note also, I've updated the first chapter to be the full cast list, so please take a look when you have a second, as I'll be updating it every so often!
All of that aside, please enjoy this chapter! Per usual there will be some final thoughts and the song list at the bottom! Thanks everyone!
FRIDAY MORNING
Madison McCarthy never felt incredibly close to her daughter, Zoey. While, of course, this was partially her fault, Zoey also had never made an effort to make things much better. Which is why, it was surprising to both of them that Zoey was sat listening to the details of how the date her mother went on the night prior had gone.
"It really was so wonderful, Zoey," Madison sighed out happily, "Who would have thought? And I was the one to ask him out. And now we're going on a second date!"
"That's great, mom," Zoey spoke, somewhat absentmindedly knowing that while this was good news for her mother, the divorce was still pretty fresh for all of them.
"What are we talking about here?" Addison questioned, mid yawn as he made his way to where his mother and sister were sitting.
"Mom's date," Zoey rolled her eyes.
"Oh?" Addison looked to his mother. While their father had already moved out, it did see like things were moving very quickly. Addison had just found out they'd been separated for much longer than he even knew about, and it was a lot for him to process.
"Yes, I'll tell you all about it on the drive to school," Madison cooed.
"And that's my note to leave," Zoey groaned, knowing that she would, like all mornings, be driving herself to school.
"Bye Zoey!" Addison called out, only being responded to by the slamming of their front door, looking to his mother, who seemed distracted by texting her mystery man, Addison sighed out, an unhappy feeling filling him, though it was a feeling he was starting to get used to.
NEW DIRECTIONS
"How're you guys holding up today?" Simon questioned Rey and Flora as he walked into the choir room, Finley close behind as he noticed they were the first four to arrive.
"I feel like… as much as yesterday was, it was weirdly therapeutic," Flora let out a small laugh. "I am um, worried about how things are going to go with my dad today, though."
"I am also worried about how things are going to go with your dad today," Rowan snickered as they and Hazel were not too far behind their other siblings. "But I'm sure it'll be fine."
"I hope so," Flora sighed out nervously.
"And how are you doing, Rey?" Hazel questioned, not wanting to draw attention to her, but was genuinely concerned.
"I'm uh," Rey swallowed hard, "Doing a lot better than I was."
"We love to see it!" Lex announced as he and Savannah made their way in to join their peers.
"See what?" Sophie called out, as she too, entered the choir room.
"Everyone was just talking about how much better they feel now that their dirty laundry is stinking up the place," Savannah smirked.
"I kind of get that," Oscar shrugged, "Yesterday and all of this week really has been a lot to process but… I dunno. It's good, I think."
"King shit!" Bryce held his hand up for Oscar to high five which he did not notice, but smiled when Kyla high fived him instead.
"High spirits all around! That's great!" Felix grinned, the last of the New Directions to enter the room, other than their teacher who followed very closely.
"I agree, Felix," Mr. Schue smiled, walking to the front of the room as everyone settled into their seats, "And while I'm glad you guys are feeling good, I know you've all been put through the ringer this week. So if anyone needs anyone to talk to, or if you guys need help with songs or anything for this afternoon, please don't hesitate to come talk to me. I'm always here for all of you."
"I mean, I think everyone that's got a song has it figured out already?" Finley tried.
"Wait, really?" Will was impressed but confused.
"Yeah," Kyla shrugged, "I mean, after yesterday we all sort of, I dunno, felt motivated to figure something out, I guess?"
"Wow, well, that's great!" Will smiled, but, of course, was still worried for the emotional toll the last week had taken on them, "But I am still here if any of you need to talk-"
"Respectfully," Hazel started slowly, "There is the guidance counselor here whose… whole job it is to help us through this stuff."
"You trying to put your wife out of a job, Schue?" Felix chuckled.
"Not at all! I just-" Will paused, growing more confused by the second, "I just mean you guys can always talk to me."
"I'd rather talk to the guidance counselor," Rowan shrugged.
"I'd rather talk to another woman… like Marley maybe?" Kyla tried.
"I'd rather talk to God," Sophie nodded.
"I'd rather talk to literally anyone else," Savannah sneered.
"Woah, now hold on," Mr. Schue began to get defensive, "Why won't you guys come and talk to me?"
"You're not the most… approachable," Simon admitted.
"In what way?" The glee teacher questioned.
"Everything just turns into a lecture, you know? Like don't do this, don't do that. Sometimes we just wanna blow off steam, you know?" Bryce, who had been in glee for a week, had already managed to pick up on Will's teaching tactics.
"Of course, but I can't help but feel like it's unfair for you to speak to your teachers that way," Mr. Schue let out a deep sigh.
"Hey, Bryce was right! Lecture incoming!" Felix snickered, high-fiving Bryce.
"Seriously, that's enough," Mr. Schue huffed out.
"I mean…" Lex raised his eyebrows, "Surely you see what we mean?"
"Now listen," Will began but was interrupted by the bell, "Look, glee in the auditorium for your dedications this afternoon. And please, be more respectful."
"We weren't disrespectful," Flora sighed out, "You just don't listen."
But before her father had a chance to respond she, along with the rest of the New Directions had moved out of the room.
THE TROUBLETONES
"Marley?" Audrey was relieved to see that her aunt was the only person in the Troubletones room so far.
"Audrey!" Marley called out, still trying to wrap her head around absolutely everything, "How are you feeling?"
"Very… confused. About everything," Audrey shook her head.
"And things with your mom?" Marley questioned, hoping she wasn't pushing.
"That's included in the 'everything'," Audrey nodded.
"I am begging you to shut up," Zoey spoke, distracting Audrey and Marley as she, along with Tia, Mia and Heather walked into the room.
"I didn't even say anything!" Heather groaned.
"You didn't have to!" Mia deep sighed.
"I'm with Zoey on this one. Shut up, Heather," Tia rolled her eyes.
"Are they still fighting?" Cay raised her eyebrows as she and Nikki walked hand and hand into the room.
"It would appear that way," Nikki shook her head, "But I have bigger problems."
"Like your sister being an absolute nut bar?" Naomi raised her eyebrows.
"Hey, be nice," Audrey tried.
"No, Naomi's right," Delia shrugged, "That was entirely ridiculous. If that's what Nikki's upset about, she has the complete right to be."
"I agree with Delia," Heather nodded, trying to fist bump Delia, but was left hanging. Soon enough though, the purple haired sophomore was distracted once more, "Wow bestie, you look like shit."
"It's been… a long two days," Trina sighed out, shaking her head.
"Are you and weirdo boyfriend still fighting?" Zoey questioned.
"Yes, among… everything else," Trina shook her head.
"Look girls," Marley began slowly as they all arranged themselves in their seats, "I know we've been through a lot this week. That's why I, along with Ms. Pillsbury, have arranged for all of you girls to have an appointment with her. You, by no means, have to go. Or if you don't want to go alone or need support you can go speak to her in groups, or I would be more than happy to go with you. But just know that we're here to help."
"Aren't you concerned about Leah?" Tia raised her eyebrows, "You know, your whole daughter?"
"Yes, of course I am," Marley nodded, "But I want to be completely transparent with all of you. Leah is taking time off. She'll be back sometime next week, or maybe later. She's also considering transferring. We're not sure what's going to happen yet. But it's important to me that you all know that despite the obvious bias I'm sure you'd assume I have towards Leah… my priority when I'm in this room is you girls and your safety."
"Marley," Delia surprised the group by speaking up after a long silence, especially since her tone was always hard to judge, "I just wanted to say…" Delia paused once more, "Thank you. I know this situation was not ideal for any of us, and I really appreciate you thinking about us before yourself. I think I can speak for both Naomi and myself, when I say we weren't exactly used to that in New Directions."
"Couldn't have said it better myself," Naomi nodded.
"Thank you. Both of you. It is just so important to me that you all have a safe space here," Marley nodded, smiling, just as the bell rang, "Don't forget about your dedications this afternoon! Make sure to get your songs in to me so I can add them to the roster. And please feel free to come see me anytime."
As the girls all began to file out, Marley jumped at the sight of a girl suddenly standing before her. "Jeez! Where did you come from?" Marley breathed out, "You startled me. It's… Juliet, right?" Marley vaguely recognized the student
"My apologies," Juliet was taken aback by how easily Marley was startled, "But yes. Juliet Stanton. I'd like to speak to you about joining the Troubletones."
THE WARBLERS
"All we can do is do our best to move forward," Trent spoke to the three boys on the council in preparation for the rest of the Warblers to appear, "I think we're all very lucky that we're okay, but we don't know how this week has affected anyone else."
"I couldn't agree more, Trent," Teddy nodded, "Let's just do our best to answer any questions and prepare for this afternoon."
"Speaking of," Tommy suddenly decided it was his turn to speak, "I think I'm going to ask Naomi to go steady with me this afternoon."
"Just for the afternoon?" Mack questioned, confused.
"You're… not already?" Teddy furrowed his eyebrows, barely able to keep up with the weird ventures of any of the other Warblers.
"Nope! But today's the day! I can feel it," Tommy grinned confidently.
"The day for what?" Oliver questioned, almost afraid to know the answer.
"Are you finally going to ask your not-gf to be your real-gf?" Zach asked Tommy excitedly.
"It is cuffing season," Addison grinned cheekily, "I'm already cuffed so could never be me. Stay safe out there, though."
"I'm sorry, it's what?" Ambrose raised his eyebrows.
"Cuffing season, silly!" Sutton smirked, "I'm fully single, by the way."
"Could never be me, stay safe out there, though," Eric repeated what his boyfriend had said just moments ago.
"I just need to remind the whole room that I am fully ready and available for anyone who may or may not want to swoop in and date me. I'm a catch," Sutton shrugged nonchalantly.
"I, a straight man, will be sure to keep that in mind," Michael mused.
"I'm not straight," Bob thought out loud, not knowing what they were talking about.
"Okay, that's enough," Ambrose sighed out.
"Why? Are you jealous?" Tommy laughed, not able to resist the urge to tease Ambrose.
"No," Ambrose spoke, his tone dry, "I just think we need to move on from talking about people being single or cuffing or whatever else."
"Kind of sounds like something someone who is jealous would say," Teddy mused, surprising the group with the fact that he joined in at all, earning him shocked looks from around the room, "What? I can be fun, too."
"Speaking of fun!" Trent called out, laughing at the scene that just unraveled before him, "Does everyone have something prepared for this afternoon? Or do you need help with anything?"
"I mean we've all been talking… I think we're all actually good?" Frank shrugged.
"Oh? Well, that's great news! What are you boys doing?" Trent looked around excitedly.
"Well, Frank here and I are doing a song for our partners," Zach grinned proudly.
"Could never be me," Sutton sighed out dramatically.
"Can you stop?" Ambrose spoke, clearly irritated.
"Can you give me a reason to?" Sutton offered a cheeky smile.
"Feeling kind of like a room full of third wheels right now," Addison laughed.
"Do you think this is how we make our friends feel?" Eric asked, partially joking, partially afraid the answer was yes.
"Alright, alright, that's enough of the dating talk. Seriously," Teddy finally tried to put a stop to it.
"Yeah, I agree," Mack nodded decisively, once again remembering he was technically in charge.
"But I'm just about to start dating Naomi! No fair!" Tommy whined.
"Look we can't all date a Jones, okay?" Mack sighed.
"Mack?" Teddy looked over to the head councilman.
"What the hell is happening?" Oliver looked around the room wondering what the point of this meeting was.
"Shh, I wanna know what's gonna happen next," Zach kept his eyes on the council, but was unfortunately interrupted by the bell.
"Okay, well," Trent stifled a laugh as he, much like many of the other Warblers was trying to figure out what was going on and how they got there, "Let's meet up back here before we head over to McKinley this afternoon, and don't forget to get your songs into me by then!"
VOCAL ADRENLAINE
"So how are you holding up?" Kate questioned, walking into the auditorium with Ingrid, "I know this probably was a pretty weird week to join glee given… everything."
"It was certainly something," Ingrid laughed, "But it's alright. I feel like I really know you guys, you know? Like, really know you."
"Of course," Kate smiled, waving to Dana and Chloe who were the only other two in the auditorium, each only responding to her with a sup nod. "Are you okay, Dana?" Kate couldn't help but laugh, noticing their energy was lower than usual.
Dana simply did not respond, instead looking off into the abyss, the same direction Chloe was looking.
"Why is it so quiet in here?" Sawyer questioned, tilting their head to the side, genuinely confused, "Normally when there's more than one of us in here it's… well, loud."
"You trying to accuse us of being loudmouths, Jackson?" Sydney raised her eyebrows looking towards Sawyer.
"No! There's usually just more… movement than this," Sawyer shrugged.
"They're right, you know," Steven nodded, following his sister in the room.
"It is… very quiet. What are Chloe and Dana looking at?" Sydney sneered.
"Nothing," Chloe responded lazily.
"Yeah," Dana nodded their head just as lazily, "Nothing."
"Dana doing absolutely nothing is kind of spooky," Isaac noted.
"Yeah, what's that about?" Leslie furrowed her eyebrows.
"They're just doing whatever I'm doing," Chloe shrugged, sure enough, followed by an identical shrug from Dana.
"But… why?" Isaac was as intrigued as he was confused.
"Yeah, why copy Chloe when I am literally right here? I'm a star. I'm brilliant. And Chloe is…" Anthony paused after making his presence known, "Well, Chloe."
"Be nice to her!" Xavier called out dramatically, walking in, Jude and Emery not too far behind him.
"Can we, for once, just shut up and sit down?" Kendall rolled her eyes, looking directly to Xavier.
"That's rich coming from you," Jude noted.
"No Kendall's right," Harmony called out as she made her way into the room, Unique, per usual, along side of her. "Shut up and sit down."
While Harmony was surprised that the kids listened to her, they were equally surprised that she let Unique take over.
"I know you're all still reeling from everything yesterday and some of you more than others, I'm sure," Unique started but was unsurprisingly interrupted by Xavier's antics.
"You're telling me! Trina still won't talk to me! How am I meant to go on?!" Xavier called out dramatically.
"Just get Jude to deliver your messages to her," Emery smirked, "That seems like an easy solution."
"Emery! You're a genius!" Xavier grinned before rapidly typing on his phone, "Here, Jude. I'm texting you 6-8 paragraphs that you can just forward to Trina for me!"
"I will never forgive you for this," Jude muttered to Emery, though both laughed.
"As I was saying," Unique shot all three kids a look, "Mrs. Pearce and myself are available to talk you through anything that you might need help with, or get you the resources you need if you're not comfortable coming to us."
"Respectfully, please just come for the resources," Harmony placed a hand on her hip. "Do you all have your songs figured out for this afternoon, by the way?"
"Yeah," Chloe nodded slowly.
"Yeah," Dana repeated the movement.
"Oh God, there's two of them," Harmony cringed.
"If that's all… can we go?" Kendall tried.
"Sure," Unique nodded, "But please, do not hesitate to come see us,"
As the students began to file out, Kendall was at first annoyed to be stopped, but cooled her jets when she saw who it was. "Oh, Kate. What's up?"
"I… just wanted to see if you're okay? Everything has been a lot for all of us but…" Kate paused running though what she would say next a few times over before verbalizing it, "You kind of got caught up in a lot."
"It was my own fault," Kendall replied simply.
"No. It was Leah's fault. Not yours." Kate shook her head, "I think having a gossip blog is bad, of course and I can't condone that. But you didn't hurt anyone. Not on purpose, at least."
"Thanks, Kate, I think I needed to hear that," Kendall nodded.
"It's nothing, seriously. Anything you need, I'm here," Kate smiled kindly.
"Actually, now that you mention it," Kendall paused, coming up with an idea "Did you already have a song planned for this afternoon?"
FRIDAY AFTERNOON
While normally the kids would have come in and caused an absolute commotion in the auditorium, the glee coaches were unsure how many performances there would be and wanted to get a move on as quickly as possible. After looking through and combining their lists they realized there was a grand total of 24, which meant there was going to be a lot to sit through.
"Alright everyone, so here's how this is going to work," Marley clapped her hands together, "While we are absolutely blown away by how many of you have a song you want to dedicate, we weren't anticipating such a high volume of performances! So, we've put the song titles in a bowl and will be randomly selecting them. When you hear yours come on down!"
"Please be courteous while watching everybody's performances," Trent spoke up, "And when you perform don't forget to tell us who you're dedicating it to!"
"Or if you don't want to do that explicitly, you can just give a more vague description," Unique nodded.
"Doesn't that defeat the point of dedications?" Sydney questioned.
"After the week we've all had I'm sure not everyone wants to disclose everything else about their personal thoughts and feelings," Mr. Schue spoke up, "No without further ado, Marley? Would you like to pull the first song?"
"Alright," Marley smiled, pulling out the slip of paper and reading out loud, "Move Along?"
"Nice!" Addison grinned, as himself, Oliver and Teddy all made their way to the stage.
"So, we all sort of thought we would dedicate this song to our siblings," Teddy explained with a small nod, "Obviously they know who they are, as do all of you, but this one is for you guys," Teddy finished, catching Cay's eye as she smiled towards him.
"Yeah, I mean, the two of mine that are in the room right now at least," Oliver sort of half laughed, as Nikki and Sutton exchanged a look.
"We've uh, we've got your backs," Addison addressed the whole room but made sure to make eye contact with Zoey just as the song was beginning.
The boys took their places on the stage, Oliver's strong, rockier voice started the song off.
"Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking,
When you fall, everyone stands,"
Oliver smirked as he nodded towards Nikki, making his way to the other side of the auditorium where Sutton sat as he continued.
"Another day, and you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your,"
Making his way to the front of the stage, Teddy now took his part of the song, moving his hand to almost reach out to Cay, who in turn did the same thing.
"Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold,"
All three boys standing in the middle of the stage together now, they called out in unison, "Speak to me,"
"When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do,"
Addison began singing, Teddy and Oliver joining in on the 'move along's as Addison surprised not just the Warblers, but the whole room with his ability to carry a song.
"And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through,"
Addison continued to sing out, making sure to look directly at Zoey, who barely met his eye, but when she did, the two twins shared a knowing nod.
"Move along," All three sang out together once more, "Move along,"
"Right back what is wrong, we move along," Teddy smiled as he sang on his own.
"Right back what is wrong, we move along," Oliver sang out proudly, each of his arms outstretched as he pointed at both of his siblings, Marley, per usual, wiping a proud tear from her eye.
"Right back what is wrong," Addison took a deep breath before following Oliver's lead and pointing at Zoey, "We move along,"
"Right back what is wrong," The boys moved to stand together once more, all calling out and harmonizing beautifully on the final, "We move along,"
As the audience clapped loudly for them, Cay made sure to wave and smile at Teddy, Nikki and Sutton both giving a standing ovation, and Zoey texted Addison a thumbs up emoji which, for her, was huge.
"Thank you all so much! What a wonderful way to start us off!" Marley cooed. "Unique? Do you want to pull next?"
"Don't mind if I do," Unique laughed, "Alright, Moving Parts?"
"That's us," Chloe nodded to herself and then to Dana.
"Yeah, us," Dana also nodded, still spending the day copying Chloe. Because they were still copying Chloe it took them both ages to get up onto the stage, but they eventually did get there.
"This song isn't really dedicated to anyone in particular?" Chloe shrugged, "Just the people in this room I guess,"
"Ooh, I'm in this room!" Xavier grinned excitedly.
Picking up a guitar and strumming very easy basic chords, Chloe looked to Dana who began singing.
"Living's like a jigsaw
And the farther in you go
If you're missing pieces
Never really know,"
Their voice, per usual, was surprisingly suited for the song, which most of the audience noted just seconds before Rey and Tommy in sync began whooping and hollering loudly in support of Dana. Just as they had settled down, Xavier did the same for Chloe as she began singing her part.
"When you're ticking like a timepiece
On which you can rely
Wonder why you wind it
When you're running out of time,"
While most people in the audience exchanged a look, they were all pleasantly surprised that Chloe had managed to sound both good and mildly interested at the same time – a talent they didn't know she possessed. Looking to each other, Dana and Chloe began signing in sync and perfect harmony.
"Sometimes there's a danger of choking on the parts
No one gave a warning to the breaking of your heart
Pick up all the pieces and go back to the start
Never losing, only using all your moving parts,"
As Chloe still strummed a few loose chords, Dana sang out the very last line of the song beautifully.
"All your moving parts,"
While the applause first started as tentative, it did eventually grow louder and more excited than anyone could have imagined. Of course, much of that had to do with Dana's and Chloe's respective siblings, but it was also one of the more serious performances either of them had put on.
"Thank you for that, you two! What a lovely song to dedicate to the room," Unique smiled, proud they were both in her glee club, "Trent? Your go at picking a song,"
"Alrighty!" Trent smiled excitedly, "Treacherous?"
"Oh, that's me," Kyla's eyes widened at the realization.
"Taylor Swift, we should have guessed," Bryce grinned.
As Kyla made her way to the stage, she cleared her throat suddenly somewhat nervous. "So I uh, would rather not say exactly who I'm dedicating this song to, but um," She paused to scratch the back of her neck awkwardly, "It's just someone I've been getting closer to and I know if things go in… a particular direction we're going to have some challenges, but I think it's worth the risk,"
While virtually every eye in the room turned to face Oscar, who's face was beet red, his eyes were only fixated on Kyla as the song started.
"I can't decide if it's a choice
Getting swept away
I hear the sound of my own voice
Asking you to stay
And all we are is skin and bone
Trained to get along
Forever going with the flow
But you're friction,"
Kyla's voice was delicate and smooth as she carried out the melody, her confidence becoming more and more evident as she continued.
"This slope is treacherous
This path is reckless
This slope is treacherous
I, I, I like it,"
Kyla continued to sing out beautifully and while most everyone was looking at either Kyla or Oscar who the song was so evidently about, there were a few people who's minds were elsewhere. Kate couldn't help but meet Zach's eye thinking about their relationship, smiling to herself. Not too far from her, Flora was fighting the urge to turn and face Anthony while on the other side of the auditorium, Sutton turned to look at Ambrose and was surprised to see Ambrose already looking in his direction.
"Two headlights shine through the sleepless night
And I will get you, and get you alone
Your name has echoed through my mind
And I just think you should, think you should know
That nothing safe is worth the drive
And I would follow you, follow you home
I'll follow you, follow you home,"
While Zach was swaying along, glancing between his brother and the girl on stage, Bryce was nudging Oscar throughout most of the song. However, Oscar was completely enraptured by Kyla's performance, the two not breaking eye contact through the majority of the song.
"This slope is treacherous
I, I, I like it,"
Kyla wrapped up, proud of having the courage to perform the song, but also smiling as she saw Oscar smile.
"Wow, Kyla! That was so great! I really loved that performance," Trent cooed, simply proud and a little surprised that Oscar had managed to pull Kyla at all, "Seriously! Incredible!"
"Okay so," Mr. Schue coughed, trying to move things along, "Next we've got… Fallin' for You?"
"Alright rookies, move aside, it's Anthony's time to shine!" Anthony practically leapt onto the stage.
"And who are you dedicating this song to?" Mr. Schue did his best to seem intimidating, though he really did not want to know the answer to the question.
"Just a special little lady," Anthony winked at first to Mr. Schue and then to Flora, "She knows who she is."
While Mr. Schue's face was red with anger, Flora's was red knowing she was the girl in question.
"Is it you?" Rey questioned Flora, her voice hushed, realizing she knew nothing about the people around her just as Anthony began singing.
"I don't know
But I think I may be fallin' for you
Dropping so quickly
Maybe I should keep this to myself
Waiting 'til I know you better,"
Anthony's voice was, of course, immaculate with the song as he sung out confidently making sure to point at Flora so she, and everyone else knew that she was who he was singing to.
"I am trying, not to tell you
But I want to,
I'm scared of what you'll say
And so I'm hiding what I'm feeling
But I'm tired of holding this inside my head,"
While Lex had whispered something to Audrey reminiscing to before they were dating, she laughed, shushing him. Not far from Lex, Felix was simply swaying to the music, freezing as he and Zoey made awkward eye contact. Meanwhile, Simon was desperately trying to catch the eye of Mack who was desperately avoiding all possible eye contact with Simon. As Rey watched all of this go on, she almost hadn't noticed Hazel gazing in her direction, both girls smiling and face flushing when they noticed.
Noticing all of the people not paying attention to him, Anthony amped up his vocals as he began wrapping up the song.
"I've been spending all my time
Just thinking about ya
I don't know what to do
I think I'm fallin' for you
I've been waiting all my life
And now I found ya
I don't know what to do
I think I'm fallin' for you,"
Making sure he was now standing as directly in front of Flora as he could be, Anthony smirked as he finished out the song, Flora's eyes completely fixated on him.
"Oh
Oh no no
Oh
Oh, I'm fallin' for ya,"
Anthony finished the song, albeit a bit dramatically as he earned sporadic applause from around the auditorium, some people just putting the pieces together then, others wondering how Will would react to it.
"Alright well," Mr. Schue spoke, refusing to acknowledge Anthony's performance, "Your turn, Harmony,"
"Great job Anthony," Harmony congratulated her student more than anything, to bother Will. "Next song is…That's What Makes You Mine?"
"Oh, that's mine," Heather and Mia spoke in sync turning to face each other, confused and vaguely angry.
"No. I was going to sing this song," Mia shook her head.
"No, I was going to sing it," Heather sighed out. "Marley? Which one of us is it? You took the songs, right?"
"I don't know girls," Marley blatantly lied, shaking her head. "This song was only on my list once. Why don't you just sing it together?"
"I mean, I was going to dedicate it to you, anyways," Heather shrugged.
"Really?" Mia's eyes suddenly went wide, "I was going to dedicate it to you."
"Really?" Heather repeated what Mia had just said, "I just… I don't know. I feel bad that we fought."
"Yeah, me too," Mia nodded, "I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too," Heather reached out to hold Mia's hand.
"Aw! Look how easily that was solved!" Marley cooed, glad she was able to sort of pull the strings behind the scenes and help the girls out.
"Can we get on with it?" Harmony, who was still standing there, questioned, clearly irritated.
As the song began, the two girls made their way on stage, already knowing who would sing which part despite not knowing they'd be singing together.
"I know you think love songs are cheesy," Mia began singing, separating slightly from Heather, but still holding her hand as she continued, "You said your wedding dress won't be in white,"
"You're not one to make things easy," Heather pointed to her girlfriend, while her singing still needed some work, it was clear that the growth and effort was there, "Cause when you're wrong you still know that you're right,"
Laughing slightly, Mia sang once more, her voice far more polished and gentler than her counterpart's.
"Said I'm not the type you fall for
But this trip is taking us so far,"
Heather now also took her turn laughing, but also truly feeling in awe of Mia in that moment, and it showed as she sang.
"I never thought we'd be together
But now look at where we are,"
Finally letting go of each other's hands, the two both moved to the front of the stage singing together.
"We just don't make sense
We don't work on paper
We're so not right
But that's what makes you mine
That's what makes you mine,"
While they continued to sing and make goo goo eyes, Finley and Savannah shared a glance and a smile, the song reminding them of their relationship. Trina and Xavier met eyes for only a few short moments before remembering they were mad at each other, while the rest of the auditorium surprised to find they actually thought Heather and Mia made a good couple and the performance was objectively adorable.
"It all seems so improbable
I never would have thought that you're the one for me,"
Mia sang out once more, taking her turn to really just appreciate the sight of her girlfriend before her.
"The definition of impossible
And I'm never gonna let you go,"
Heather used her typical talk singing voice to finish out the last time the two girls sang separately as they took the last chorus together.
"We just don't make sense
We don't work on paper
We're so not right
But that's what makes you
We just don't make sense
We don't work on paper
We're so not right
But that's what makes you mine
That's what makes you mine,"
Finishing the song, the girls shared a long hug and a sweet kiss before Harmony ushered them off the stage. "Alright, alright, good job but we're moving on," she sighed out.
"That was a lovely performance girls, I'm so glad things worked out," Marley smiled, "Next up we've got Suddenly Seymour?"
"Alright losers, get ready for a real performance," Sydney smirked, making her way up the stairs, most of the audience surprised to see that they waited for Steven to come with them.
"And who are you dedicating this song to?" Marley looked at them hoping to get a different answer than what she was expecting.
"Each other, obviously," Sydney rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, cause we're friends now!" Steven grinned.
Before anyone could ask anymore questions Sydney had demanded that the band "hit it," and Steven took his verse.
"Lift up your head, wash off your mascara
Here, take my Kleenex, wipe that lipstick away
Show me your face clean as the mornin'
I know things were bad but now they're okay,"
While his voice was incredible and his stage presence was somehow even better, the group was a little concerned with just how well they were acting it out. Not really helping their concerns, Sydney took the next part of the song.
"Suddenly, Seymour is standing beside me
He don't give me orders, he don't condescend
Suddenly, Seymour is here to provide me
Sweet understanding, Seymour's my friend,"
While Frank cheered almost embarrassingly loudly for Sydney, everyone else exchanged looks as the two siblings on stage gave the performance of their life. Sydney once again proved that she was most likely the most talented person in the room, as she continued singing, completely oblivious to everyone's reactions.
"Suddenly, Seymour
He purified me
Suddenly, Seymour
Showed me I can,"
Sydney continued to absolutely belt out, Steven doing both backup and harmonies as they continued, jumping to sing with his sister for the rest of the song.
"Learn how to be more
The girl that's inside me,
With sweet understanding
With sweet understanding
With sweet understanding,"
Looking at each other and smiling as they believed they were absolutely crushing it, Sydney and Steven looked out into the audience delivering the most impressive single line of vocal ability anyone in that room had seen.
"Seymour is your man,"
While they earned applause, they grinned finally realizing just how absolutely powerful they were together. However, there were some whisperings among the group about how odd the performance was.
"Um… thank you, you two. You're both very talented," Marley smiled nodding, "Unique?"
"Yeah…" Unique looked both students up and down before selecting the next song, "Time After Time?"
"Oh hell yeah!" Lex called out, as he, Michael, Mack and Isaac all got up to sing their song.
"All four of you?" Trent verified, though he was glad to see it.
"Yep!" Mack grinned widely, "And we're sort of all dedicating this to our brother? Not the same brother but like-"
"We've got it Mack, thank you," Unique laughed as the music started.
"Lying in my bed,
I hear the clock tick and think of you
Caught up in circles
Confusion is nothing new,"
Michael sang out, his voice smooth and pleasing to the ear, smiling as Lex walked to the other side of the stage but pointed to him as he took his part.
"Flashback, warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcase of memories
Time after,"
Lex sang out, smiling, glad he and Michael were able to do this together and even more glad that they were able to do it with Mack and Isaac as well.
"Sometimes you picture me
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said,"
Mack sang out wrapping an arm around Isaac who laughed, but still sung his solo part beautifully.
"Then you say, 'go slow'
And I fall behind
The second hand unwinds,"
Just before the chorus began, many of the siblings looked at each other, smiling glad to have each other. While the Abrams were of course smiling and waving at each other, it surprised both Naomi and Hazel that they shared a knowing look and smile. The most surprising thing was maybe Sutton and Nikki also sharing a knowing smile, which Oliver caught, smiling back at both his siblings.
"If you're lost you can look and you will find me," Mack and Lex sang out to their younger brothers.
"Time after time," All four boys sang.
"If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting," Isaac and Michael took their turn to sing to their brothers just as all four boys sang out the rest of the song together.
"Time after time
If you're lost, you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time,"
While they managed to pull off an impressive four-part harmony, the most notable thing about that performance was how warm everyone's hearts felt once it finished.
"How lovely and wholesome," Unique grinned, "Well done boys! Trent? What have we got next?"
"Let's see," Trent pulled and unfolded the piece of paper in his hands, "Not A Love Song?"
"Nice!" Zach and Frank high fived making their way to the stage.
"Oh no," Trent's eyes went wide, "Well, whenever you're ready!" He very clearly tried to rush, moving things along.
"First we gotta shout out our dedications!" Zach grinned proudly, "So uh, shout out Kate!"
"And Sydney!" Frank called out just as they got into position.
Sydney and Kate exchanged a glance, and while Kate was cautiously optimistic, Sydney knew this would end in disaster.
"You're always on my mind," Frank sang out.
"I think about you all the time," Zach also took his turn singing a solo line.
While Kate was at first very flattered, Sydney was confused, and then the two Warblers spoke in sync. "Um, no,"
Kate suddenly felt very taken aback, Sydney was growing even more confused, and everyone else who knew anyone involved was either trying to figure out what was going on or trying not to laugh at the sudden shift.
"Let's not talk about it
Drama, we can live without it
Catch a wave if we're bored
There's a clock we'll ignore
Find a way around it,"
Frank sang out confidently and directly to Sydney who did not make eye contact and was already planning on pretending she did not know them when this was all said and done.
"Hey girl, I can tell there's something
Even when you say it's nothing
When you're playing with your hair
Like you just don't care
It's a tell you're bluffing,"
Zach talk sang his way through his verse, feeling very confident which he absolutely should not have. He did laugh at Oscar motioning for him to stop, but simply thought his brother was joking.
"Now please don't take this the wrong way," The two on stage spoke in sync once more before singing together.
"I love the things you do
It's how you do the things you love
Well it's not a love song, not a love song,"
They sang out happily, both directly singing to Kate and Sydney respectively, both of who were wishing they were somewhere else.
"I love the way you get me
But correct me
If I'm wrong
This is not a love song, not a love song,"
They wrapped up, earning miniscule amounts of applause. The performance itself was mediocre, and the song choice was mind boggling to say the least.
"Did… did we just get broken up with?" Kate questioned.
"No, but someone is about to be," Sydney sneered, "Get his ass, Kate," They nodded towards Zach.
"What? Where is this coming from?" Zach was genuinely confused and starting to feel upset.
"Yeah, we were just trying to tell you about our feelings," Frank sighed out sadly.
"That you don't like us?" Sydney's eyes narrowed.
"What? Of course we like you! We just don't love you," Zach nodded smiling.
"Alright!" Trent jumped up, "That's enough of that!"
"We will be talking about this later. That is a threat," Sydney spoke to Frank.
"We also will be," Kate looked to Zach.
While Zach and Frank were beyond confused, they slowly but surely made their way off the stage.
"Alright," Mr. Schue breathed out, "Next song is Personal?"
While the room looked around at who it could be, Cay quietly made her way to the stage.
"Oh! Cay!" Mr. Schue smiled, breathing out, hoping this performance would go a little better than the last one. "Who are you dedicating this song to?"
"I um," Cay suddenly felt anxious as she messed with the end of her braid, "I won't put her on blast but um, I sort of had this falling out with someone yesterday. Over something I couldn't control because I didn't even know about it? But I feel like she maybe took it, well, a little too personally. Which is what the song's about," Cay concluded, meeting Rey's eye who, of course, knew this would be about her.
The song starting, Cay swallowed hard, breaking eye contact with Rey to just try to get through the song.
"She called me up
She had a hard night
Wanted some love
To make her alright
I didn't know
That in her mind
We were getting closer
When really we were over,"
Cay sang out before moving around the stage slightly, looking at absolutely anyone who wasn't Rey.
"Possessive turned to passive in the middle of the night
Now in your vision, I'm the villain you can't look me in the eyes
I watched your jealousy turn my sincerity
Into dishonesty, but I'll be the bigger person, babe,"
Cay's voice was beautiful, and as she continued as Nikki cheered her on, and Rey felt like she was sinking into herself and also felt somewhat offended.
"I know you have to hate me
Won't blame you if you blame me
I promise, even though it hurts, I won't take it personal
You've got some harbored feelings
Like I left you for no reason
I promise, even though it hurts, I won't take it personal,"
Finally mustering up the courage to look at Rey, Cay felt her heart sink at how upset by the song Rey seemed to be which only encouraged her to sing out the rest of the song that much more powerfully.
"I wish I had known
You'd take it so personal
I wish you'd let it go
Don't take it so personal
I wish I had known
You'd take it so personal
Don't take it so personal,"
As Cay finished up, she earned applause from around the room though most of the Abrams clan, or those who knew Rey's side of the story simply seemed confused.
"Alright, well," Will nodded smiling, sensing the sudden tension in the room. "Harmony? What's next?"
"Oh I guess it is my turn again isn't it?" Harmony had barely been paying attention as she reached to pull a new song. "Tide?"
"That's us, little guy!" Bryce smirked, nudging Oscar practically dragging him onto the stage.
"I know, Bryce," Oscar half laughed wondering if Bryce thought this was brand new information.
"And who is this song being dedicated to?" Harmony questioned barely looking at the boys on the stage.
"Our friend Kyla! Right over there!" Bryce pointed to her, nudging Oscar who was just trying to get his guitar settled on his scrawny little body. Not noticing, Bryce continued, "We know she's been through a lot so we thought this song could work!"
Kyla smiled, her face flushed, mouthing the words thank you to Bryce, smiling at Oscar who's face was also flushed as he finally got his guitar settled, strumming delicately but intricately.
"I pretend that I'm the mountain, pretend that I'm the sky
'Cause both those things will still be here after the day I die
So we set our plans in motion, fall but learn to fly
And even if we never can, won't know until we try so,"
Bryce sang, surprising the group by the fact that his voice suited the song so well. It was clearly meant for an edgier voice which was something Bryce could provide.
"Don't be lonely, I'm right here by your side
Hold on to me, you won't drown, you will survive
Move with the tide, move with the tide,"
As the two boys sang together, their voices worked almost eerily well together, Oscar's more subtle gentle voice meshing perfectly against the harshness of Bryce's.
"You pretend that you're so simple, just made of chemicals like me
But you are so much more than that, I just wish that I could freeze,
The moment that I see you there, that you grab a hold of me,"
As Oscar sang out, he was so focused on his strumming that he hadn't noticed everyone in the audience noticing each other. While Eric had moved to wrap his hand in Addison's smiling, and on the other side of the auditorium, Nikki did the same thing with Cay. Somewhere in the middle Jude and Emery exchanged a small glance just before she moved to rest her head on his shoulder, resulting in his cheeks flushing. The only thing Oscar had noticed was when he looked up as he finished his verse, however, was Kyla looking back up at him with what could only be described as heart eyes.
"The breeze that brings me down to earth
Leaves me higher than the trees, so,"
Bryce also noticed this and gave a toothy grin as he and Oscar made way to finish the song.
"Don't be lonely, I'm right here by your side
Hold on to me, you won't drown, you will survive
Move with the tide, move with the tide,"
They once again wowed the audience with their ability to harmonize and follow each other's lead. While the audience clapped loudly for them, Kyla's reaction was the one that, of course, caught Oscar's eye. Nodding and smiling at her, Oscar was soon distracted by Zach obnoxiously cheering for both of them, momentarily forgetting that Kate was upset with him.
"Well done or whatever," Harmony waved them off. "Next?"
"Alright next song is…" Marley paused as she looked at her piece of paper, "Home?"
"That would be us!" Hazel grinned as she, Savannah and Rowan all made their way up to the stage.
"We of course want to dedicate this to our biggest common denominator," Savannah gestured to her boyfriend, "Finley,"
"As well as all of our other friends and family of course," Hazel nodded smiling.
"Let's hit it!" Rowan grinned, strumming on a guitar.
"Hold on to me as we go," Hazel started the song off, her voice clear and strong, "As we roll down this unfamiliar road,"
"And although this wave is stringing us along," Savannah sang while Rowan harmonized, "Just know you're not alone,"
"'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home," All three students looked at each other and then to Finley, as they sang together.
"Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble, it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found,"
The group spaced slightly, allowing Rowan to take the next line on their own.
"Just know you're not alone
'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home,"
Smiling as they sang, the group now all began moving around each other fluidly, harmonizing perfectly.
"Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ah,"
While Kate and Eric shared a small smile, Cay and Teddy nodded towards each other, and Ambrose was thankful as Kendall met his eye and they shared a knowing glance and warm smile just as the three students sang together once more, wrapping the song up.
"Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble, it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found,"
Taking a small bow and laughing, Savannah, Hazel and Rowan all shared a small group hug, Savannah blowing kisses to Finley who happily accepted them, overwhelmed with the pure warmth he felt.
"That was so lovely!" Marley grinned. "Thank you all for that wonderful performance!"
"Seriously so well done," Unique nodded, "Next up is A Drop in the Ocean?"
"I love that song," Sutton thought out loud.
"I know," Ambrose smirked, moving to get up, leaving not just Sutton, but the rest of the Warblers and most of the auditorium flabbergasted.
"And who will you be dedicating this song to?" Will questioned kindly as Ambrose stood on the stage, preparing himself to sing.
"I um," Ambrose who was normally so articulate suddenly felt nervous and unsure of how to speak, "I don't normally have a difficult time articulating things? But I do, sometimes, have difficulty articulating my feelings. The person for whom this song is for well… they know. But this is a song I feel aptly describes my feelings,"
While Sutton was very much still trying to process all of this, the music started slowly and beautifully behind Ambrose as he sang out just as beautifully and as tediously as he did most things.
"A drop in the ocean
A change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most 'cause you are my heaven,"
While his voice was smooth, he had his eyes closed for the beginning of the song, looking out into the audience. While he saw Zach looking longingly at Kate and Frank looking at Sydney the exact same way, he turned his head and saw Mack also longingly looking at Simon. It wasn't until he looked to Sutton that it felt like his breath was caught in his throat. Shaking his head as if to rid himself as the thought, he remembered he was doing a performance and took on the verse.
"I don't wanna waste the weekend
If you don't love me, pretend
A few more hours then it's time to go
As my train rolls down the East Coast, I wonder how you keep warm
It's too late to cry
Too broken to move on,"
Once again looking to Sutton, Ambrose felt something strange happen. For the first time since he could remember, he was able to turn off the professionalism, his voice now less methodical and manufactured and suddenly more raw and emotional.
"And still I can't let you be
Most nights, I hardly sleep
Don't take what you don't need from me,"
While Sutton looked back up at Ambrose he was simply overcome with emotion. For both men, for just a moment it felt as though they were the only two in the whole auditorium. That feeling only continued as Ambrose finished out the song strongly and more powerfully than he even knew he was capable of.
"Just a drop in the ocean
A change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most 'cause you are my heaven,"
Finally remembering where he was, Ambrose swallowed hard, taking a step back, powerfully and now once again more controlled delivered the last line. "You are my heaven,"
While the room was mostly confused at what had just happened, they were also impressed and nobody could deny that it was an incredible performance. Kendall was the first to applaud, closely followed by Oliver, soon the rest of the room followed, Sutton being the first to stand up and cheer loudly.
"Wow, that was… amazing," Unique shook her head, "Very well done, Mr. Rhodes,"
"Seriously, Ambrose! Wow! Amazing! So well done!" Trent applauded before realizing he was getting carried away again, "Okay, so next song on the list is Rainbow!"
"Yay!" Tommy got up excitedly, Naomi following not too far behind him, making their way to the stage.
"So, we know a lot of people had a lot of aspects of their lives sort of… blasted for the world to see. Obviously, a few of those people are very close to us," Naomi smiled looking to Simon as Tommy waved to Rey, "So this is for everyone, but especially them,"
As the two sat on stools at the front of the stage a piano started behind them, Naomi taking the beginning of the song.
"I used to live in the darkness
Dress in black, act so heartless, but now
I see that colors are everything,"
Her voice was beautiful and strong, smiling as she looked to all four of her siblings in the audience just as Tommy sang his part.
"Got kaleidoscopes in my hairdo
Got back the stars in my eyes, too, yeah now
I see the magic inside of me,"
Looking to Rey and then to Naomi, Tommy smiled, his voice crisp, clear and controlled as he watched Naomi sing as the song picked up.
"Yeah, maybe my head's fucked up
But I'm falling right back in love with being alive
Dreaming in light, light, lights,"
Singing out dramatically, Tommy once more looked to his little sister who looked almost overwhelmed but this time, in a good way.
"This kitty cat lost her mind
Been lookin' for a star-sent sign that I'll be alright
Look to the skies,"
Now turning slightly to face each other, Naomi and Tommy sang together, and while Naomi took the main melody and Tommy harmonized neither took a backseat, both their passion and talent clear to everyone watching.
"I found a rainbow, rainbow, baby
Trust me, I know life is scary
But just put those colors on, girl
You gotta learn to let go, put the past behind you
Trust me, I know, the ghosts will try to find you
But just put those colors on, girl
Come and paint the world with me tonight,"
Now turning to face the audience once more, the two on stage delivered the rest of the song perfectly, Naomi now smiling at Finley and then Lex who she knew was also forced out of the closet this week, as Tommy looked to Frank and then Teddy.
"Oh, put those colors on, girl
Come and paint the world with me tonight
Come and paint the world with me tonight,"
While the room applauded loudly, both Rey and Simon were choking back proud and happy tears, though it was made clear that the audience generally thought it to be a very good performance. Looking over to Naomi, Tommy was preparing himself to ask the question he'd been planning all day but was interrupted by Naomi.
"Okay, thank you!" She spoke quickly, suddenly rushing off the stage.
"Well… thank you both!" Trent called out, putting the pieces together since he remembered Tommy talking about Naomi this morning.
"Alright, now we have," Mr. Schue paused to pull the next name, "Say You'll Be There!"
"Alright ladies," Zoey looked to Tia and then to the surprise of the room, also Delia.
"Oh… all three of you?" Mr. Schue was confused to see his daughter take part.
"Yes," Delia spoke dryly, "We're all apart of the same glee club. Your surprise is somewhat ignorant,"
"Get his ass, Delia," Tia smirked.
"Alright, let's just start the song," Will groaned, too tired to fight back.
"I think first we need to acknowledge who we're singing this song to," Delia spoke matter-of-factly. "While we of course understand the implications of this song, we decided it we wanted to switch the narrative slightly as we all have somewhat strained relationships with our siblings – even Tia admitted to having her problems – and so we thought this would be a good choice to address that,"
"Not in a Suddenly Seymour way though," Zoey sneered, shaking her head.
"Let's just sing the damn song," Tia breathed out, the girls getting in position just in time for Tia to call out. "Oh, say you'll be there,"
All three girls now sang out together, surprisingly already having choreography and working weirdly well together, something Marley made note of.
"I'm giving you everything
All that joy can bring
This I swear,"
As the girls continued to move around in sync, they truly were the image of a girl group, Zoey moving to take her solo part, surprised to find herself smiling at Addison dancing along in his seat.
"Last time that we had this conversation
I decided we should be friends, hey
But now, we're going 'round in circles
Tell me will this déjà vu never end, oh,"
As Delia started her part, she made sure to look between Flora who was affectionately embarrassed and Anthony who smirked smugly, but despite that, inevitably delivered an incredible performance.
"And now you tell me that you're falling in love
Well I never ever thought that would be, eh
This time, you gotta take it easy
Throwing far too much emotions at me,"
As the girls spun out, Tia ended up in the center, her voice smooth and beautiful as she delivered the pre-chorus.
"But any fool can see they're falling
I gotta make you understand,"
As the chorus came around, in the audience most everyone was dancing or swaying along with their siblings. While Naomi and Simon were fully moving in sync together to the performance in front of them, Trina and Sophie were both doing their own harmonies, while Frank and Bob shared a more subtle look, and Oscar laughed watching his brother try to be subtle with his dancing.
"I'm giving you everything
All that joy can bring
This I swear,"
All three girls sang, just as Tia sang over them, her strong voice coming through, "I'll give you everything,"
Spinning back into their starting position, the girls smiled as they perfectly and powerfully wrapped up their song.
"And all that I want from you
Is a promise you will be there
Say you will be there
Say you will be there,"
Ending in a dramatic pose, Tia smiled as Mia cheered loudly for her, Zoey smirked seeing Addison sending her his own thumbs up reaction just as she sent him earlier, and Delia was surprised to find herself smiling just at the thought of Flora vaguely enjoying the performance.
"Thank you girls," Mr. Schue nodded. While he was still conflicted as it felt neither of his daughters wanted anything to do with him, he was glad that they finally seemed to be getting along.
"Next up!" Harmony called out, once again shooing the students off the stage, "Beside You?"
"Yes!" Xavier called out excitedly, grabbing Jude and pulling him towards the stage, climbing over Emery who sat between them.
"Oh good," Harmony spoke dryly. "And who are we dedicating this song to?"
"Since everyone else is copping out and not name dropping, I will also be doing that," Jude announced, pulling up a stool, "But uh, I dunno? I know we've all been through a lot but uh, this person is certainly no exception and has been there for me when they absolutely did not have to be and um, I think they know how I feel about them, and I'm still trying to figure out how they're feeling but uh, yeah," Jude looked to Xavier for help or for him to start talking.
However, Trina read this as Xavier being the person Jude was talking about. "Oh my God, it's him!" Trina gasped.
"You're absolutely right," Sophie nodded, knowing that Trina was, in fact, completely incorrect. "And stop using the lord's name in vain,"
"I'm singing for the same reason," Xavier nodded, "Maybe even to the same person?" He spoke. Xavier was, of course, speaking about Trina, as he thought Jude also was since the day before Trina had spoken to how much she did to help and protect Jude.
"So they are singing to each other!" Trina spoke decisively.
"Huh?" Jude turned to Xavier realizing they did not really even discuss the song, more so that they would just do it.
"Oh my God," Kendall snickered, enjoying it all unfold.
"Just sing your stupid song!" Harmony called out.
Sighing out, Jude shook his head, and began strumming on his guitar, his voice a strange combination between rough and sentimental, though it worked with the song.
"When your tears are spent
On your last pretense
And your tired eyes refuse to close
And sleep in your defense,"
Swaying on his stool, Xavier took his turn singing out. While his theatrical voice was starkly different to Jude's, it worked just as well with the song.
"When it's in your spine
Like you've walked for miles
And the only thing you want it just to
Be still for a while,"
Singing together, their different voices meshed creating a powerful harmony as they both confidently sang out the chorus.
"And if your heart wears thin
I will hold you up
And I will hide you
When it gets too much
I'll be right beside you
I'll be right beside you,"
While Trina was still confused about what was happening, and still mad at Xavier she couldn't deny how proud of and impressed by him she was.
"Trust in me
Trust in me
Don't pull away
Just trust in me
Trust in me,"
Xavier sang out, though it, admittedly, came across as more of a plea. In the audience, Heather and Mia had shared a knowing glance, Heather interlinking their arms as Mia moved to cuddle into her, Kyla looked over to smile at Oscar who smiled in turn, and for the first time since the performances had started, Mack felt brave enough to look at Simon who looked right back at him, the two waving shyly at each other. Ignoring Xavier per usual, as well as ignoring the other people in the audience, Jude sang out, finally building the courage to make direct eye contact with Emery, the person he was actually singing for.
"'Cause I'm just trying to keep this together
Because I could do worse and you could do better,"
It wasn't until that moment that Emery truly understood that the song was for them, but did not have much time to process this as Xavier jumped right back in singing almost sadly and longingly.
"When your tears are spent
On your last pretense
And your tired eyes refuse to close
And sleep in your defence,"
Both boys singing together once more, confusion still surrounded the performance, but nobody could deny how incredible they sounded together.
"And if your heart wears thin
I will hold you up
And I will hide you
When it gets too much
I'll be right beside you
Nobody will break you,"
Finishing on a strong note, the audience gave a loud round of applause, Emery smiling to herself and to Jude, Trina trying to figure out if Xavier was looking longingly at her or someone else, and Sophie was, somehow, the only person who was able to piece all of it together.
"Great job, kid," Harmony nodded, "You too, Xavier,"
"Thanks?" Jude and Xavier surprised themselves by speaking in unison.
"Alrighty!" Marley smiled, "Next song is going to be Missing You?"
"Oh that's us!" Leslie grinned happily as she and Sawyer made their way to the front.
"Great!" Marley grinned, "And who are you dedicating this song to?"
"Well," Sawyer rocked back and forth on their heels, "We'd like to dedicate it to everyone, but specifically Vocal Adrenaline."
"Awww," Unique cooed out, "Well go ahead whenever you're ready!"
A simple instrumental began as Leslie and Sawyer took a seat on the stools in the center of the stage, Leslie starting out, her voice emotionally connected but equally strong and gentle.
"I heard that you've been
Self-medicating in the quiet of your room,
Your sweet, suburban tomb.
And if you need a friend,
I'll help you stitch up your wounds,"
As Leslie sang, she smiled looking at her friends in her glee club, Sawyer preparing for his part as he began to sing out.
"I heard that you've been
Having some trouble finding your place in the world.
I know how much that hurts,
But if you need a friend
Then please just say the word,"
Sawyer's voice was gentle and soothing, laughing as he saw Dana and Chloe swaying in unison to the song just in time for Leslie to sing again.
"You've come this far,
You're all cleaned up,
You've made a mess again,"
Looking over and smiling at Leslie, Sawyer sang on their own once more, their gentle voice still sounding great on the song.
"There's no more trying,
Time to sort yourself out,"
Swaying in sync on their stools, Leslie and Sawyer sang out strongly together, their voices complimenting each other perfectly.
"Hold on tight,
This ride is a wild one,
Make no mistake,
The day will come when you can't cover up what you've done,"
Leslie couldn't help but smile as she noticed her mother wiping a proud tear from her eye as they got ready to wrap up the song.
"Now don't lose your fight, kid,
It only takes a little push to pull on through,
With so much left to do,
You'll be missing out, and we'll be missing you,"
As they concluded, the room whooped and cheered for the two students on stage, Vocal Adrenaline surprising most everyone else as they all loudly supported their teammates.
"Wow, that was impressive," Marley spoke referencing both the song and the reaction from the whole glee club.
"Seriously! I'm so proud of you! All of you," Unique spoke to Leslie and then to the rest of the room, "However, we do have to move on, so let's see… next is Princess Charming!"
"Alright, let's go," Nikki shooed Trina out of her seat, the two making their way to the stage.
"You two... are performing together?" Marley verified, somewhat surprised.
"And what about it?" Nikki shrugged.
"Alright so… dedications?" Unique looked both girls up and down, wondering where this was going.
"Well we thought we'd dedicate this to our siblings," Nikki began to explain, "Well, Oliver and even, reluctantly, Sutton. Leah's a traitor but the other two are cool I guess,"
Before Marley was able to react, Trina took her turn speaking up, "One of my siblings is also a traitor so I am dedicating this to Sophie only,"
"Not even me?!" Xavier called out dramatically.
"Shut up," Sophie called from across the room.
"You're really dedicating this to Sutton?" Marley spoke finally processing what Nikki had said.
"I mean, I guess?" Nikki shrugged before looking to Sutton, "Do you care?"
"I mean," Sutton paused repeating what Nikki had just said, "I guess?"
"Let's just get on with it please," Unique tried desperately to get it rolling again.
With the song playing Nikki and Trina, surprisingly, had planned choreography to go with their song, which they presented as the song began. Nikki took the first part of the verse, completing her somewhat complex choreography with Trina as she sang out.
"You woke up, head aches
Car won't start and you're already late
So you drove fast, too fast
Yeah, that was a cop you passed,"
Nikki sang out, her voice more clear and controlled than anyone had seen from her yet as she sang the first part of the song to Sutton, the end of her lines to Oliver, laughing as she did so. Switching spots with Trina, the older girl took over singing.
"Teacher pulled a pop quiz, that's right
Probably shoulda told ya wish you
Studied last night
So you head out lunch time
Never mind your cards declined,"
As they hip bumped, Nikki sang out on her own, "When life gets this rough," Spinning and switching spots with Trina who sang out once more, her voice just as polished and powerful as Nikki's, "Don't need to be so tough,"
"This time, this time," The two girls sang out happily together
"Everything, everything will be alright," Trina called out, very clearly singing to Sophie.
"When the clock strikes midnight," The two sang in harmony once more.
"I'm gonna be your hero," Nikki called out, winking at each of her brothers.
Both girls now standing in the center of the stage they once again proved their pure vocal talents, finishing out the song.
"Putting on my best dress
So baby don't stress
I'll be your Princess Charming,"
While Xavier applauded loudly before remembering Trina didn't want him, the rest of the auditorium followed with their applause, Sutton and Oliver being the first to offer a standing ovation.
"That was wonderful!" Unique grinned widely, "Thank you very much!"
"Next song is…" Trent paused, "Carry on?"
Without even speaking, Eric and Bob simply high-fived, making their way onto the stage.
"This song is, of course, about our cool older siblings," Eric grinned, causing Kate to laugh.
"Yeah, real cool!" Bob nodded enthusiastically pointing to Frank.
"But also to everyone else! This week's been real weird, but all we can do is keep moving forward, you know?" Eric shrugged just as the music began, Bob surprising the group by starting the song out.
"Well, I woke up to the sound of silence and cries
Were cutting like knives in a fist fight
And I found you with a bottle of wine
Your head in the curtains and heart like the Fourth of July,"
Bob smiled as he finished his solo verse, proud of himself for getting through it and delivering it perfectly, just as Eric began singing.
"You swore and said we are not
We are not shining stars
This I know, I never said we are
Though I've never been through Hell like that
I've closed enough windows to know you can never look back,"
Eric's voice was audibly not as powerful as Bob's, but he had a good hold on the song and delivered the lines beautifully, as Bob began singing on his own once more.
"If you're lost and alone, or you're sinkin' like a stone," Bob called out.
"Carry on," The two Warblers sang in unison.
"May your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground," Eric sang out proudly.
"Carry on, carry on," Bob and Eric sang out in harmony once more, both moving to stand at the edge of the stage. As they both looked at each other and took a deep breath, they delivered the next few lines with an emotional power neither knew they had.
"'Cause we are, we are shining stars
We are invincible, we are who we are
On our darkest day when we're miles away
So we'll come, we will find our way home,"
Smiling as they knew they nailed it, they began singing the chorus together once more, their voices carrying the song perfectly.
"If you're lost and alone or you're sinkin' like a stone,
Carry on,"
Neither boy could deny the smiles on their face as they heard a good portion of the audience joining in for the final 'carry on's as they rounded the song off.
"May your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground, and
Carry on,"
The applause for the two boys were thunderous and left a warm feeling with most of the audience which was made evident by Trent holding his hand over his heart, proud of his Warblers, "That was so lovely! You two are incredible together!" He called out, making a mental note of this combination.
"Next up," Mr. Schue spoke up, "Umbrella!"
"Say less," Kendall smirked, walking up towards the stage, Kate following close behind.
"So," Kate started slowly, "We also wanted to dedicate this to our glee club as well as everyone else here. And while I was initially also going to give a special shoutout to two people specifically, I'm still trying to process an earlier performance so my special shoutout is exclusively to my brother, Eric."
"That's hilarious," Anthony mused.
"I also would like to give a special shoutout to my brother, Ambrose," Kendall smiled, the room at first surprised with her genuine dedication, then left even more surprised by what she said next, "And also to you, Kate. You're always a great friend to everyone here."
"Thank you," Kate smiled kindly just as the music began, Kendall taking the first part.
"You have my heart
And we'll never be worlds apart
Maybe in magazines
But you'll still be my star,"
Kendall's deep voice was soulful and passionate and almost kind sounding as she sang out, both herself and Kate moving around the stage as Kate took her turn singing.
"Baby, 'cause in the dark
You can't see shiny cars
And that's when you need me there
With you I'll always share
Because,"
Kate's higher and more put together voice was different to Kendall's but both sounded amazing as they took the chorus together.
"When the sun shines, we'll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath, I'ma stick it out 'til the end,"
As the two girls on stage sang together, Simon turned to offer a smile to Rey, Tommy and Mack mouthed the words to Teddy and each other, while Emery and Addison exchanged a more subtle but knowing look and even Delia and Naomi shared a glance and a smile. Continuing the song, Kendall moved to sing more directly to Ambrose as Kate did the same to Eric.
"Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh,"
As the girls began to wrap up their song, they once again moved to the more center part of the stage, singing to each other once more.
"It's raining, raining
Ooh, baby, it's raining, raining
Baby, come into me
Come into me
It's raining, raining
Ooh, baby, it's raining, raining
You can always come into me
Come into me,"
While Ambrose looked on with a proud and warm smile, Eric clapped and cheered wildly, leading the rest of the audience to do the same, both Kendall and Kate sharing a smile.
"Alright!" Mr. Schue called out.
"What? You're not going to congratulate them on a good job?" Harmony suddenly spoke up.
"Excuse me?" Will was clearly confused.
"No, she has a point," Unique spoke up, "Just because they're not in your glee club doesn't mean you shouldn't say 'job well done'. We all have been,"
"Look, it's not like that," Mr. Schue tried.
"Respectfully, Will," Trent spoke up, "You have only complimented the kids in your own club."
"Well, I didn't mean to. My apologies," Will sighed out, defeated. "Good job girls,"
"I think you girls did wonderfully," Harmony spoke, surprising them with the genuine compliment, "Next song is Beloved?"
"Awesome!" Finley grinned proudly, Audrey excitedly leading the way to the stage.
"So, this is a song we'd both like to dedicate to our partners," Audrey nodded.
"Oh yeah, cause it went so well the last time someone else said that," Sydney rolled her eyes.
"Anyways," Audrey rolled her eyes, "This is for Lex and Savannah. The lyrics seem sort of… odd. But more than anything it's just that we appreciate you and support you no matter what life throws at you or at us,"
Finley strumming on his guitar, it wasn't too long until he began singing.
"Sit enthroned in white grandeur
But tired and shift
A whisper of wayward silver hair
From your eyes
I'd never seen you unkempt before
As you whisper 'Darling close the door',"
His voice was smooth and low as he delivered each word with charisma and charm, turning to face Audrey who took over.
"How have I not made a note of every word
You ever said
And time, is not on our side
But I'll pretend that it's alright
She says the Lord has a plan
But admits it's pretty hard to understand,"
Audrey's soft and more subtle voice seemed to grace the words so gently that it sent a shiver down Lex's spine, his eyes fixated on her as she and Finley began singing together.
"Before you leave
You must know you are beloved
And before you leave
Remember I was with you,"
Looking into the audience, the two made sure to make eye contact with their partners, both looking back at them with the upmost adoration.
"Before you leave
You must know you are beloved
And before you leave
You must know you are beloved,"
As the two wrapped up, they smiled, Finely placing a hand on Audrey's shoulder as they bowed at the wild applause from the audience that was, of course, lead by Savannah and Lex.
"Well done," Harmony spoke dryly.
"Really well done!" Marley agreed smiling, "Our next song is going to be… Embers?"
"By Owl City?!" Mack gasped excitedly.
"I doubt it," Teddy shook his head, vaguely annoyed with Mack's antics.
"It actually is," Rey laughed as she, along with Simon, Felix and Sophie all got up and ready to sing.
"I uh, I picked it," Simon admitted sheepishly.
"You did?" Mack felt his eyes go wide.
"Yeah, I did," Simon smiled proudly.
"God, get a room," Felix laughed, "But after the performance! Let's go kick ass,"
"Watch your language, Felix," Will warned.
"Whatever, Schuester," Felix laughed.
"So, much like many the groups before us, we want to dedicate this to our families, but also to everyone else here," Sophie began to explain, "After all, are we not all just clowns under God's big top?"
"Amen," Simon nodded, smiling as the group got in position, Rey getting ready to sing first.
"There were days when each hour was a war I fought to survive," She sang out, her soulful voice sounding beautiful and full of passion.
"There were nights full of nightmares and I dreaded closing my eyes," Felix sang out, seemingly seriously for him, though despite his toned down antics, his voice pulled through.
"There were skies that burst open with a downpour to drown me alive," Sophie sang out, somewhat dramatically, but her words clear and her voice crisp and pretty.
"But the world took a spark like a match in the dark and the fire brought me to life," Simon sang out, proud of himself for being able to find the power he needed.
"So I'm fanning the flames to climb so high 'cause there's no other way we can stay alive," Rey and Sophie sang out together, smiling before all four kids sang the chorus together.
"'Cause we're burning bright as we all unite
And when it's all said and done
We'll shine like the sun so don't let the fire die
And we'll watch the sky as it fills with light
And though the embers are new
Whatever you do just don't let the fire die,"
As the groups cumulative nine siblings cheered and applauded for them as the song picked up, Rey and Sophie both made sure to sing directly to Flora, whereas Simon found himself looking to Mack, and Felix surprised himself by looking for Zoey in the audience, just as he took another solo line.
"Don't let the fire die," Felix sang out passionately
"It gets better," Rey and Sophie sang out in sync.
"Just don't let the fire die, no," Simon sang out, surprising the audience with his ability to hold the note as all four students made their way to the center of the stage to finish out the song together.
"'Cause we're burning bright as we all unite
And when it's all said and done
We'll shine like the sun so don't let the fire die
And we'll watch the sky as it fills with light
And though the embers are new
Whatever you do just don't let the fire die,"
While their four part harmony was impressive, everyone was more impressed with their ability to deliver such an emotional but uplifting performance, earning them loud cheers from their peers.
"Wow! Really well done, all of you!" Marley grinned, watching the students make their way off the stage.
"Alrighty, let's see who's next!" Unique felt around to pull out a slip of paper, noticing how few were left, "New Years Project?"
"I guess that's me," Emery realized, standing up, making their way to the stage.
"And who are you dedicating this song to?" Unique raised her eyebrows. She didn't know much about what was going on in the lives of all of these kids, but she did pay attention to the kids in her glee club.
"Just uh," Emery fumbled with their sweater sleeves for a moment, before heading to sit at the piano, "Just someone who I think deserves to know how I'm feeling," she decided on, before shyly looking in the general direction of Jude.
"Oh not Emery too!" Trina called out, once again, assuming Emery was referring to and looking at Xavier.
"Yeah, you got it, Trina," Sophie nodded, smiling.
"Um, I can't really play piano very well… or, um, sing," Emery spoke, shaking her head, "So, uh, sorry?"
Playing a few basic chords, focusing in on the piano as to not have to really look into the audience in any direction, Emery began singing, their low and raspy voice starkly but beautifully different to the delicate piano notes.
"Your hands didn't move
But neither did mine
New Year's will bring
So much to say
But nothing comes out right
Both of us left without words
Both of us lost in this world
It's softer than ever before,"
While the audience was still, watching the student in front of them perform, Kate couldn't help to look over to Zach who she saw looking back at her, as Lex and Audrey leaned into each other, smiling. Addison who was watching his friend perform intently still also managed to hold and give a small squeeze to Eric's hand.
"And you were the outline
Of everything you would become
The keeper of these hands
To hold you now
It is a far cry
More than anything that I deserve,"
Emery continued to sing out, their voice growing more powerful and crisp as the emotion in the words was also taken up a notch, clearly very much feeling the lyrics of the song.
"Who are they singing to?" Xavier whispered to Jude, "It better not be me, I've got enough on my plate!"
"It's not you," Jude spoke, as he came to this realization himself, though his tone was not annoyed with Xavier as it normally was, instead it was almost relaxed as he smiled to himself, eyes fixated on Emery.
"I'm waiting to give you whatever the world may bring
I'd give you my life 'cause I don't own anything,"
Taking a deep breath, getting ready to wrap the song up, the emotion in Emery's voice was evident as their voice nearly cracked on the previous line, but finally looking into the audience, she found the confidence to keep going and end the song on a strong note.
"It seemed like the bottom was all that I had until now
I'd give you my life, if you'd give me yours somehow,"
Playing a few more soft notes, Emery was surprised that majority of the people in the room cheered and applauded for them. Looking out for the one reaction she really cared about, Emery was pleased to see Jude looking back at her with a genuine smile and knowing look.
"That was…wow Emery, I didn't know you could perform like that," Unique praised her student, "So very well done!"
"I agree!" Trent smiled, "Next up, we've got… Look After You?"
"Finally!" Sutton threw his hands in the air somehow both exasperated and excited.
"And your dedication?" Trent questioned, knowingly, as much like Unique, he picked up on things that happened between his kids. Then again, he figured there weren't many people in this room who probably couldn't guess what Sutton would say.
"This is for Ambrose," Sutton spoke blatantly, not thinking twice as the song started, not giving Ambrose, or really anyone else in the room a chance to process the directness of his dedication.
"There now, steady love, so few come and don't go
Will you, won't you, be the one I always know?
When I'm losing my control, the city spins around
You're the only one who knows, you slow it down,"
Right off the bat the room was surprised by the genuine, not silly, nor goofy performance Sutton was putting on. Nobody was more surprised than Sutton who, as he continued to sing the song felt himself truly grow more emotional but somehow still more relaxed, catching Ambrose's eye who seemed to be feeling the same thing.
"Oh, oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
Oh, oh oh, oh oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you
And I'll look after you,"
Once again out in the audience, many people were feeling feelings of their own. While Anthony looked over to Flora who met him with a shy smile, Kyla and Oscar both held what could be described as prolonged eye contact, Trina and Xavier fought to not look at the other and Cay and Nikki shuffled to lean in close together.
"If ever there was a doubt
My love she leans into me
This most assuredly counts
She says most assuredly,"
Sutton continued to sing out, his voice almost profoundly beautiful, the perfect combination of emotional and calculated – a combination he was starting to realize was one of his favorites.
"Oh, oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you
After you,"
Singing out powerfully, Sutton really urged himself on to knock the last bit of the song out of the park, which he executed flawlessly, showing the room just the sort of power and control he had on his voice.
"It's always have and never hold
You've begun to feel like home, yeah
What's mine is yours to leave or take
What's mine is yours to make your own,"
Once again making direct eye contact with Ambrose, Sutton let his voice grow surprisingly gentle, reminding both himself and Ambrose of the first real and serious conversation they had after sectionals.
"Oh, oh, oh, oh
Be my baby
Oh, oh,"
Sutton finished the song on a much softer but more heartfelt note than he began with, standing in silence, eyes still on Ambrose for a few long moments, before Nikki finally broke the silence by clapping, everyone else following suit.
"Wow Sutton that… emotion! Incredible!" Trent laughed.
"I agree," Mr. Schue nodded, still somewhat butthurt that everyone had ganged up on him earlier, "Which means our last performance is… Enchanted?"
"That's um, that's me," Flora announced, making Mr. Schue nervous, and the rest of the room curious as to how it would pan out, "And before you ask… I won't be saying who this is dedicated to, but, um, they know,"
"I think we all know," Delia mused, smirking, earning a snicker from Naomi.
Despite the peanut gallery, Anthony's face lit up, listening as the music started, watching Flora intently.
"There I was again tonight
Forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired, lonely place,"
Flora sang out, making direct eye contact with Anthony who remained looking at her like she was the whole world to him.
"Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes and vacancy
Vanished when I saw your face
All I can say is, it was enchanting to meet you,"
Flora's voice was soft and beautiful, Finley and Savannah sharing a small smile, Savannah moving to further lean into her boyfriend.
"Your eyes whispered, "Have we met?"
'Cross the room your silhouette
Starts to make its way to me,"
While both impressed by Flora's continuous vocal abilities, Nikki and Cay couldn't help but smile, thinking of each other as the song continued on.
"The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks
Like passing notes in secrecy,"
Mia couldn't help but nudge Heather at the line as it reminded her of her girlfriend, and Heather, of course, realized this, nudging Mia back, the two sharing a small, intimate smile.
"And it was enchanting to meet you
All I can say is, I was enchanted to meet you,"
Though Rey was so proud of Flora for getting up and singing about her feelings, she couldn't stop thinking about the small, fleeting moment she and Hazel had shared earlier on.
"This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you,"
After cheering loudly for Flora, Lex moved to wrap an arm around Audrey, placing a small kiss on her temple as they both thought back to being kids with crushes on each other.
"The lingering question kept me up
2 AM, who do you love?
I wonder 'til I'm wide awake,"
At first shifting uncomfortably at just how closely they related to the lyrics, both Jude and Emery noticed the other doing it, resulting in a small laugh shared between them, Jude now shifting to hold Emery's hand is his own.
"And now I'm pacing back and forth
Wishing you were at my door
I'd open up and you would say, 'hey'"
Despite the confusion she felt, Kate still couldn't help but look over to Zach who, of course, these particular lyrics reminded her of. To her relief, she saw him looking back, a small and dopey but apologetic smile on his face.
"It was enchanting to meet you
All I know is, I was enchanted to meet you,"
Though, of course, Zoey had been complaining to Felix about how lame all of these love songs were, both became quiet once more, sharing yet another awkward moment, feeling as though they were really just know starting to get to know the other of the course of these last few days.
"This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew,"
"She's really good," Eric nodded to Flora smiling as he sat contently next to Addison.
"I think you're really good," Addison mused, causing both boys to giggle quietly, Eric leaning his head onto Addison's shoulder.
"That this night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you,"
While both Oscar and Kyla were impressed and in awe of Flora as they didn't know she could sing like that, they also were both somewhat distracted by how close to home these lyrics hit for them. Finally being able to look over to her, Oscar let out a small laugh at Kyla mouthing along to the words in her seat, her only laughing back as Oscar noticed.
"This is me praying that
This was the very first page
Not where the story line ends,"
Letting out a deep sigh at the thought of the lines, Frank turned their head to look at Sydney, surprised to find that she was looking right back, just as sadly.
"My thoughts will echo your name, until I see you again
These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon
I was enchanted to meet you,"
Mack sighed out dramatically at the words, surprised that despite the song playing, the only other sound he was able to hear was another deep sigh, coming from Simon a few rows away. Both noticing this, the two boys laughed before nervously looking away, knowing that they would be thinking about this for the rest of the day, if not longer.
"Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you,"
As Flora sang out softly, her emotion evident, both Xavier and Trina couldn't help but look at the other, both surprised and happy to see that they were thinking the same thing about each other.
"Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you,"
As Flora's volume picked up, Sutton began looking somewhat sadly at his shoes, listening to the words. His demeanor only changed once he looked up and saw Ambrose looking at him with the exact same yearning expression.
"This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew,"
Now practically belting out the words, Flora's eyes never once left Anthony's as he smiled, encouraging her to go on.
"This night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you,"
The song slowing once more, Flora truly felt the words she was singing as she practically begged, still looking to the person who she was singing it for.
"Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you,"
While half the audience had their entirely own experience listening to that song, the room still burst with applause, Flora proud of herself as a light blush crept onto her cheeks at just how excited about the song Anthony seemed to be.
"Wow, Flora," Will started, obviously about to ignore the fact that the song was so blatantly sang to Anthony but was interrupted by the opening of the door at the back of the auditorium.
"Hello, William," An all too familiar voice rang out.
"Principal Sylvester," Marley spoke out loud.
"Marley," Sue nodded back, before motioning between Marley and Will, "I'm assuming one of you can tell me what the hell is going on in here,"
"We sang songs, Auntie Sue!" Sawyer called out excitedly.
"And I bet you did great kiddo," Sue smiled to her godchild, her demeanor changing as she turned back to face Will and Marely, "However, I believe we had an agreement that there would be no jazz hands, kicklines, boot scootying or whatever other garbage you meekly attempt to pass off as 'performing' until the situation with your daughter," Sue turned to face Marley alone, "Was taken care of,"
While the room grew quiet, all eyes turned to the three adults now standing in the front of the stage, as Harmony, Unique and Trent all backed away quietly in succession.
"We were just trying to get our feelings out with music and-" Marley tried.
"You know just as well as I do how that does not change the fact that your daughter put the safety of all of these kids at risk and I will not stand for it," Sue hissed, "It's one thing to air all of their secrets out in the open, but it's another when you realize how mean some of these kids can be when they find out their peers are different to them in any way,"
"I know, Principal Sylvester, and I'm sorry," Marley tried.
"I don't see why I have to be a part of this," Will put his hands up in defeat, "Respectfully, just because we both teach glee here doesn't mean anything. Leah is Marley's daughter and in Marley's glee club. Not mine,"
"Wow for someone always preaching the inclusivity of others you were real quick to throw Ms. Rose under the bus, weren't ya buttchin?" Sue raised her eyebrows, "Though it seems to me that you actually do understand what I am trying to say. Because Leah is Marley's daughter, that becomes a conflict of interest – something I'm sure you're familiar with," Sue nodded towards Will's two daughters, "So I'd like to speak to both of you. In my office. Now,"
Exchanging a glance, Marley and Will slowly but surely followed Sue out of the room, Marley just pausing for a moment to whisper something to Unique. As they left with a loud slam of the auditorium door, Unique quietly passed the message along to the other two glee coaches. Making their way to stand in front of everyone again, they called out to get their attention, Unique being the first to speak.
"So," She began slowly, "While we're not exactly sure where that conversation is going to go, please just be patient and wait here until they return or we hear something back,"
"As always we are here if you need us! But please feel free to just… relax for a moment. And to talk among each other!" Trent smiled, hoping that the kids wouldn't have any problem with waiting for a little while.
Though it did take them all a while, everyone did eventually start to go off to talk to their peers, as many of them had many things to say to each other.
Taking this opportunity to try to get to know her teammates better, Ingrid, who had been there literally the whole time, took this opportunity to grab Anthony.
"I thought your performance was really great," She smiled.
"Thank you… friend," Anthony spoke, admittedly, not remembering her name but trying to be polite about it, as that was a thing he was trying to do now, "I also thought it was really great,"
"I have to ask," Ingrid paused, tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear innocently, "Who was it exactly that you were signing to?"
"I'm both surprised that you had to ask and impressed that you had the guts to," Anthony smirked, "But Flora. I know you're new and don't know a lot of people, but she was who went last. I think she was singing to me too, actually,"
"You know for someone whose name you don't even remember you sure are telling me a lot. I didn't pin you as an overly trusting person," Ingrid spoke, admittedly, a bit flirtatiously.
"I hate to be the one to break it to you," Bryce spoke, watching the scene unfold before him, "But your man's got hoes,"
"What?" Kyla's eyes went wide as she fairly assumed Bryce was not talking about Anthony, "Oh, shut up," she laughed when she realized what he was referring to, "That's Flora's problem to deal with,"
"You should have seen your face, though," Bryce laughed, "Speaking of your man though, where'd the little squirt go?"
"Talking to her," Kyla nodded her head in the direction of Oscar and what appeared to be a new face, "He told me she was thinking of joining glee, guess she made the jump," Kyla shrugged.
"Who?" Bryce was confused, looking to where Oscar was standing.
"I don't know how to tell you this," Oscar spoke slowly to Juliet, "But you picked a really weird day to join glee,"
"Thank you for that observation, Captain Obvious," Juliet rolled her eyes in turn, "But yes. It has been… quite bizarre,"
"Have you even tried to meet any of the other Troubletones?" Oscar raised his eyebrows, "Instead of standing eerily in the shadows of this auditorium?"
"I don't know how you expect to me even know who they are. I didn't join until after this morning's meeting was over," Juliet pointed out, "And now I'm here,"
"Well, there's a couple Troubletones over there watching this conversation unfold," Oscar smirked nodding his head over to where, as he'd so eloquently mentioned, two Troubletones were trying to see what was going on.
"Now what the hell is all that about?" Naomi questioned, though turned away to try to keep them from catching on.
"Oscar and that weirdo girl?" Cay raised her eyebrows, "I have no idea. She just sort of… appeared. And now I see her everywhere. Gives strange as hell vibes though,"
"No kidding," Naomi shook her head.
"Speaking of strange as hell vibes," Cay began, "What was that with Tommy on the stage today?"
"The song? I thought it was nice," Naomi feigned ignorance.
"You know, you running off before he even got a chance to look at you?" Cay laughed, "I'm asking redundantly, by the way. But take it from someone who knows. It's better to just rip off the band-aid if you're trying to… end things with him. Makes things less messy in the long run."
"Yeah, I guess you're right," Naomi paused, catching something out of the corner of her eye, "Will excuse me for one second?" She questioned walking off, and towards her twin brother who was pacing by himself.
"Jeez, don't sneak up on me like that," Simon cringed as Naomi stopped just inches away from him when he was not expecting it.
"No," Naomi snickered, "So, why are we pacing?"
"I uh," Simon paused, "Just got a lot on my mind,"
"Yeah," Naomi nodded slowly, "Me too. There really is no handbook on how to breakup with someone you're not even dating."
"What?" This was news to Simon, "You're ending things with Tommy?"
"Yeah," Naomi nodded, though a small smirk found its way to the corner of her mouth before she spoke again, "The same day you're going to confess your feelings to his best friend and everything,"
"Teddy?" Simon furrowed his eyebrows, speaking only as a defense mechanism.
"If you're playing stupid, you're winning," Naomi teased, "No, not Teddy. Mack!"
"Did you have to say it so loud?" Simon whined.
"Looks like we've both got to work up some courage today, huh?" Naomi sighed out, once again soon distracted by wanting to know someone else's business, "Oh, to be a fly on the wall in that conversation," she laughed.
"If you're here to ask for my blessing, I don't care," Delia spoke dryly.
"Blessing for what?" Anthony furrowed his eyebrows.
"Never mind," Delia shook her head, "What do you want, St. James?"
"I just wanted to say I liked your performance," Anthony swallowed hard, "And I think you are very talented,"
"So you are trying to get into my good graces," Delia nodded, turning to walk away.
"Okay, look," Anthony walked to stand in front of Delia, preventing her from going anywhere, "Yes, of course I do. I know it's hard to believe but I do actually really like your sister. So yes, I am, as you put it, trying to get in your good graces. But I do also believe you're very talented. I would know since I am also very talented," Anthony sighed out.
"Hm," Delia paused for a moment to think, "Thank you. And I do get it. I appreciate you coming to me, but more than you coming to me I appreciate the honesty. While I did have to drag it out of you, I do believe honesty to be the best policy. So thank you,"
"How come you never tried to butter me up like that?" Eric chuckled, clearly joking, though his demeanor switched when he saw Zach's face, "Zach? Are you okay?"
"Huh?" Zach shook his head, "Uh, I dunno. You and Addison broke up, right? How was that for you?"
"Zach," Eric laughed, suddenly realizing what all of this was all about, "I mean, yes, we did. But clearly it didn't last. But if this is about you and Kate…"
"Woah, woah, who said anything about Kate?" Zach pretended to be shocked, "But now that you bring it up… I don't know what to do? Like I feel like I just messed everything up,"
"You just need to talk to her," Eric spoke kindly, "Believe me, Kate is easily the most forgiving person I've ever met, even my own biases aside. So don't even think about the whole… breaking up thing. I wouldn't even call what's happening with you two an argument. At least, not yet. But you need to talk to her,"
"How are you so little but so wise?" Zach shook his head.
"It's a gift," Eric shrugged, smiling.
"Damn, that's crazy," Sutton, who'd been eavesdropping on his fellow Warblers, spoke quietly to himself.
"What's crazy?" Nikki questioned curiously.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Sutton spoke smugly.
"Yeah, dumbass, that's why I asked," Nikki rolled her eyes. "Sorry, I didn't mean to call you dumbass,"
"You did, but I appreciate the apology," Sutton grinned, "So uh, hey, weird question but are we… are we good?"
"Are we usually not?" Nikki raised her eyebrows.
"I mean, I know we made that stupid pact in elementary to have it out for each other for just like… something to do," Sutton laughed, thinking about it, "But I guess these days it's hard to tell what's a part of that silly pact and what's not. I just… I like the idea of having each other's backs," Sutton admitted.
"How about this," Nikki began slowly, "We are still rivals… but just for show. I've never not had your back. And especially now with the whole… gossip blog thing? I think it's good that we know that we've got each other,"
"I couldn't agree more!" Sutton grinned, surprised that when he started trying to do the handshake the Puckerman kids had made up as kids, Nikki remembered and finished it out with him.
Not too far from them, someone else was trying to make amends with someone they felt they may not have been quite as close to as they could be.
"Hey," Zoey spoke dryly.
"Hey?" Emery responded, truly unsure of whether or not Zoey was talking to them.
"I just wanted to say I thought you were, you know, not horrible up there," Zoey spoke, desperately trying to swallow her pride.
"Thanks," Emery spoke slowly, "I um, I'm kind of glad you're here actually. I mean Addison and I are getting closer again, even just over the last day and-"
"I know," Zoey spoke, already regretting coming to speak to Emery, "And don't think that's going to happen with us. Because it's not. But I did just want to say that I think it's nice that you're both… talking again. He really needs someone and it looks like you do too,"
"Thank you?" Emery was beyond confused as to where all of this was coming from, "I know it's not my business but he, you know, he cares about you. A lot,"
"You're right," Zoey nodded slowly before turning quickly on her heels ready to walk away, "It is none of your business,"
"What the hell was that?" Emery muttered to herself.
"Zoey bothering you?" Addison sighed out, shaking his head, "She does that,"
"Not bothering… just acting really weird," Emery shook their head in turn. "Speaking of really weird, how'd things go with your mom's date?"
"God, don't even start," Addison laughed, shaking his head, "She wouldn't tell Zoey anything and then told me way too much,"
"So who's the unlucky guy?" Emery laughed, "Sorry, am I allowed to joke about that or is it too early in our weird little… re-acquaintanceship?"
"Normal people call it friendship, Emery," Addison laughed back, "But nah, I don't care if you joke about it. Who it is, she won't say yet but uh, looks like she's moving on pretty quick,"
"I'm sorry dude," Emery offered a small, awkward pat on his back, "But I'm here for you,"
"Sorry to cut this short," Addison suddenly spoke up looking to the direction of two familiar faces speaking, "But I kind of really want to know what they're saying,"
"Oh, me too," Emery laughed, the two making way to listen in on the conversation happening between two siblings which was truly none of their business.
"I didn't know you had feelings," Kendall smirked, standing arms crossed over her chest.
"Excuse me?" Ambrose furrowed his eyebrows but laughed once he realized who was addressing him.
"It was cute, though. Your little song?" Kendall smiled, "So I thought I'd congratulate you on a job well done,"
"Thank you, Kendall. That does, sincerely, mean a lot to me. And I uh," Ambrose paused, surprised to find himself struggling to articulate once again, "I believe I owe you an apology,"
"For what?" Kendall was surprised to hear anyone apologizing to her.
"I know I've sort of been doing this thing of wanting to get closer to you and not knowing how but I realize that can come across as me pulling away. That's not what I'm doing. It's just… strange," Ambrose admitted.
"You don't need to apologize for that," Kendall looked over to Ambrose, a small sad smile on her face, "Because we shouldn't rush it either. But I'd love to hang out with you – outside of glee - some day. And get to actually know my brother,"
"Yeah," Ambrose nodded, his turn to smile, "I'd like that,"
"Jeez, you scared me. You're worse than Nikki. Respectfully," Sutton shook his head, "What are you doing?"
"I think the better question is what are you doing?" Cay raised her eyebrows.
"Spying on Ambrose, obviously," Sutton spoke like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "But I suppose I can make time for you. What's up, buttercup?"
"I just… have recently learned how important family is to Nikki. It's important to me too so I figured I should… try to talk to you?" Cay responded, deciding this was a bad idea about halfway through her sentence.
"Aw, how cute!" Sutton was suddenly distracted from his aforementioned spying, "I think it is very nice of you to do that. But I approve of your romance so you're all good!"
"I wasn't looking for approval-" Cay tried but was interrupted by Sutton.
"And yet you got it anyways!" Sutton grinned proudly, "I am just so giving."
"Okay, I'm going to go," Cay spoke, unsure if Sutton even noticed.
While she had turned to walk away, she paused seeing the two girls before her speaking in hushed tones, unsure if she should listen in or not. Deciding that everyone else was eavesdropping, she made herself look as busy as possible as to avoid any suspicions.
"I'm doing okay, actually," Rey smiled, a small blush on her face, "You're very kind for asking,"
"I'm glad to hear it," Hazel grinned kindly, "Knowing that you're doing okay… I mean, we're friends so it's, you know, it's important to me,"
"It's… it's important to me too," Rey messed with her glasses for a moment, "How you're feeling I mean! I mean, obviously how I'm doing is also important, but so are your feelings! Everyone's feelings are so important and valid and I just think all of that is very important and-"
"Rey," Hazel laughed, "You're rambling,"
"Oh…oh, I'm sorry," Rey shook her head, "I um, I do that sometimes, I'm really sorry…"
"Don't be," Hazel shook her head, "It's um, it's cute,"
"Oh… oh?" Rey's eyes suddenly went wide.
After holding it in for several long moments, Cay let out a long and embarrassingly loud sneeze, suddenly giving herself away.
"Um, excuse me for a second," Rey spoke kindly to Hazel, who simply nodded.
"Oh, uh, hey Rey, I didn't see you there," Cay tried to play it off.
"You… didn't?" Rey was confused, truly not understanding what was happening.
"Nope!" Cay grinned, "You um, you did great up there by the way,"
"Oh…thanks," Rey spoke sadly, "If we're being honest your song… well… it kind of hurt my feelings?"
"What?" Cay furrowed her eyebrows, "The song said to not take it personally, did you even hear it?" She tried to joke it off.
"That wasn't the problem, Cay," Rey sighed out, "I just need time. And for you to not give me that seems… unfair."
"So what? You can't even talk to me now?" Cay groaned; she knew she didn't want to fight with Rey. She just wanted to move on and let things stay in the past. But she still couldn't help feeling defensive and upset, and it showed in her tone.
"I mean… not really?" Rey tried, "I am trying to move on. Really hard. But it's been a day. And for you to sing that song and act like I threw a fit about it when all I've been trying to do is take my space? It really hurt," She admitted.
"If you feel that way then maybe don't talk to me at all. If you can't talk to me we can't be friends," Cay regretted the words the moment they fell out of her mouth, but she knew it was too late.
"Fine then. I guess we're not friends," Rey sighed out, turning to walk away. While Cay wanted to stop her and apologize and just try to go back to being friends, she couldn't find the words.
As she turned to try to walk away she watched Rey's brother talking to his best friend, wondering if she'd really messed everything up for good.
"You're gonna be great, Tommy!" Mack gassed him up.
"You think so? I'm kinda nervy, bestie," Tommy admitted.
"Nervy, why? What could possibly go wrong?" Mack questioned, not realizing what a loaded question that was.
"Well for one, she could say no," Tommy pointed out.
"She won't!" Mack grinned, truly not realizing just how wrong he was, "Nobody can say no to Tommy. Not even Naomi!"
"I sure hope you're right, kiddo," Tommy shook his head, patting the top of Mack's head despite being a few inches shorter than him.
"I'm the same age as you, Tommy," Mack laughed, "Now go get 'em, tiger!"
"I will!" Tommy grinned getting ready to walk off, "As soon as I can find her,"
"You got this!" Mack called out, noticing another silhouette appear beside him, taking Tommy's place, "Oh, hey Isaac,"
"So," Isaac began, "Are you also going to go get 'em tiger?"
"Were you listening to our conversation?" Mack furrowed his eyebrows.
"Yes," Isaac stated blankly, "Now answer my question,"
"I do not know what you are referring to," Mack spoke, not pretending to not know, but genuinely having no idea what was going on, barely remembering where he was at all.
"Simon, Mack," Isaac laughed, "It's no wonder I got all the brains," he chuckled.
"Hey," Mack pouted.
"Hey to what? Me calling you out on your melodramatic crush or me calling you… less intelligent than me?" Isaac snickered.
"Both!" Mack whined, "And bold of you to assume I know what melodramatic means,"
"It means," Isaac chuckled once more, "You're both acting so weird and sad about it. When you literally are both so obviously into the other. Weirdos,"
"What? Did he tell you that?" Mack gasped.
"No," Isaac shook his head, "But I think you should go for it,"
"Why?" Mack melodramatically sighed out.
"Just call it brother's intuition," Isaac smirked, while, at the same time, Oscar had just sad the exact same thing to his own brother, Zach.
"I want to trust you… but I don't know that I can," Zach sighed out dramatically.
"Okay, that's enough," Oscar shook his head, "I know you're upset about Kate. But you're not going to get anywhere by moping around and being miserable and talking to everyone but her,"
"You know Eric said almost the exact same thing to me. But he was a lot nicer about it," Zach pouted.
"Either man up and deal with it or don't. Either way that's on you," Oscar spoke, wanting the best for his brother but clearly growing irritated of Zach not doing anything about his problems.
"Oh bold of you to say," Zach laughed.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Oscar sighed, knowing damn well what it was supposed to mean.
"Are you ever going to ask Kyla out, dude? Come on, it's been like, soooo long," Zach noted.
"I mean, maybe? I just don't want to rush anything," Oscar shook his head.
"No time like the present!" Zach grinned, physically pushing Oscar away from him.
"What are you doing?" Oscar, still annoyed, rolled his eyes.
"I am helping you move so you can go find her, dude!" Zach grinned proudly.
"God, I can do it myself!" Oscar sighed out, making way to try and find Kyla.
"Aw, there he goes," Zach spoke to himself after watching Oscar aimlessly walking around like a sim for a few long moments.
"There who goes?" A familiar voice came up behind him.
"God damn it!" Zach called out, "He was looking for you!"
"Why was he looking for me?" Kyla responded, suddenly feeling very shy as she realized who the 'he' in question likely was.
"Uhhhh... no reason," Zach blatantly lied, "But you should go look for Oscar. For sure," He nodded furiously.
"Um, thanks," Kyla laughed awkwardly, "I will,"
"Oh! Before you go!" Zach called out to her, "Do you um, do you have any advice on how to deal with this whole… Kate situation?"
"Why are you asking me?" Kyla questioned, genuinely confused.
"I'm desperate man, for real," Zach shook his head.
"Okay, well let's first start by not telling girls we talk to that we're 'desperate', right?" Kyla raised her eyebrows.
"Yeah, I see the problem there," Zach nodded.
"You also embarrassed her. And then told her you didn't love her. In front of basically everyone she knows. You need to fix that. No grand gestures, either. Just talk to her. One on one. About your feelings," Kyla spoke.
"That… actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks Kyla," Zach grinned kindly.
"No worries, dude. Maybe if things go well you can end up like them one day," Kyla laughed her head nodding to a couple a few feet away, very clearly very into each other.
"But you're okay, right? I know this week's been a lot for you," Lex spoke gently, sitting next to Audrey as he placed a gentle kiss at the very top of her head.
"Yeah, but I mean, I could say the same thing to you," Audrey laughed, tracing shapes on his arm, "I mean, obviously things are still weird with my mom and then with the whole Leah thing… and I'm nervous for Marley and what that means for the Troubletones…"
"Hey," Lex spoke again, his voice still hushed, a rarity for him, "At least if things go south for the Troubletones you can always come join New Directions and then we can be together allllllll the time," he cheesed.
"Shut up," Audrey giggled, "Hey you know what I was just thinking?"
"What were you just thinking, Miss Fabray?" Lex spoke, laughing.
"As crazy and insane and stressful as this week was… at least I got you out of it," Audrey smiled.
"I think I like that thought," Lex grinned, moving slightly to place a gentle kiss on Audrey's lips.
"God, doesn't it just make you sick?" Sydney fake gagged.
"I think it's kinda sweet," Steven shrugged.
"That's because you're still young and impressionable," Sydney raised their eyebrows, "You'll understand when you're older,"
"I see," Steven nodded, "This doesn't have anything to do with you and Fra-"
"How dare you start to say that name in front of me," Sydney hissed, cutting him off.
"So it does have to deal with…them," Steven nodded.
"I don't know," Sydney sighed out, "Maybe? I don't really ever talk about this stuff,"
"You know you're allowed to, right?" Steven spoke, suddenly concerned, "And you should talk about it,"
"Yeah, I know I just… don't want to be seen as weak or something, you know?" Sydney spoke, finding it surprisingly easy to talk to Steven about her feelings, something she couldn't do with anyone else.
"I don't think anyone could ever see you as weak," Steven laughed, "I certainly couldn't and never have. So you can always talk to me about anything,"
"Thanks, Steven. Seriously. You can talk to me too," Sydney smiled before fake gagging once more, "Oh God, not another one,"
Not too far from where Lex and Audrey were, Finley and Savannah were also wrapped up in each other.
"I am just sooo proud of you," Savannah cooed.
"I barely did anything," Finley laughed, but felt his face flush at Savannah's kind words anyways.
"That's exactly it though, you didn't have to. And it was still awesome. And of course I'm biased but I loved your song," Savannah giggled.
"I was quite a big fan of yours, too," Finley laughed in turn.
"We really are so good together," Savannah sighed out, "I am very grateful for you,"
"And I'm just as grateful for you," Finley sighed out contently, placing a gentle kiss on Savannah's forehead.
"Makes you glad she's not in the Troubletones, huh? Him either," Heather laughed.
"Why are you speaking to me?" Delia scrunched her nose up, confused.
"Because I needed to talk shit about these weirdo PDA couples and you were the only person around," Heather spoke like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Heather, respectfully," Delia started slowly, "it's worrying that I have to remind you that you are also in a PDA couple,"
"Yeah but Mia and I are both sexy as hell, so it's cool," Heather shrugged.
"You are… certainly modest," Delia shook her head.
"Look man," Heather put her hands in the air, "If you got it, flaunt it. You got it. You should flaunt it more,"
"What are you trying to do here?" Delia questioned genuinely concerned and equally confused.
"I'm trying to make friends with you, obviously. And like I said earlier, shit talk. You seem the type that would be into that," Heather shrugged.
"Now, first of all," Delia tried, but was inevitably interrupted by Heather.
"Now what the hell are they talking about?" She groaned looking just a few feet ahead of her.
"I'm sorry, what?" Mia squinted her eyes.
"Look man," Felix paused, putting his hands in the air just as Heather did to Delia moments ago, "I didn't come here to be judged,"
"I'm not judging you," Mia shook her head, "I'm just… confused,"
"How do you think I feel!" Felix groaned.
"You say you shared a moment," Mia paused, thinking back to what Felix had just described, "What kind of a moment?"
"I dunno, just like… looking at each other?" Felix sighed out.
"People look at each other all the time, Felix," Mia couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah but this was like… different," Felix started feeling frustrated that he couldn't quite figure out just how to describe it.
"What felt different?" Heather, who'd just walked away from Delia, rudely interrupted.
"Apparently, Felix and Zoey have been making prolonged eye contact, getting pretty serious," Mia laughed.
"Ewww, Zoey? Seriously?" Heather hit her brother's arm.
"Yes! I didn't choose! The moment chose me!" Felix spoke out dramatically.
"You're being so weird. For real, dude. Is it possible you're like… looking too deep into this?" Heather sighed out.
"I don't know," Felix shook his head.
"I mean, you seem pretty torn up about it," Mia pointed out, partially because she believed it to be true, partially because she wanted to instigate Felix.
"Don't encourage him, babe," Heather rolled her eyes.
"Aww, you're calling me babe again?" Mia cooed suddenly forgetting what they were talking about.
"Of course I am, babe," Heather smirked, snaking an arm around Mia's waist, planting a less than gentle kiss on her mouth.
"God, you two are no help at all!" Felix called out, defeated.
"I hope that's not how we turn out," Nikki laughed, watching the scene unfold, "Hey, are you okay?"
"Hm?" Cay questioned. "Oh yeah, I'm fine,"
"You don't seem fine," Nikki raised her eyebrows, "What's up?"
"I sort of just… had a bit of a falling out with Rey," Cay admitted.
"Again?" Nikki stifled a laugh, "Didn't you just have one yesterday?"
"Yeah, but it was bad this time," Cay sighed out.
"Was yesterday's not?" Nikki joked.
"I would appreciate it if you took this more seriously," Cay shook her head.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry," Nikki breathed out, leaning over to take Cay's hand, "What happened?"
"She hated my song and it gets worse," Cay shook her head, "I don't even think we're friends anymore,"
"I'm really sorry to hear that but…" Nikki paused, trying to choose her next words carefully, "Would that really be the worst thing in the world? At least for now? Obviously, I understand you guys were really close… but maybe space could be good for both of you,"
"Yeah, I think maybe you're right. I just need to distance myself and forget about her for now," Cay sighed before noticing someone out of the corner of her eye, "God, the Abrams are everywhere!"
"Hmm.. yes I see the dilemma," Dana spoke slowly, nodding as they simply repeating words they'd heard on TV as the boy before them vented out his problems.
"And now I don't even know where I stand with Trina! Or Jude! Or Emery! Or Sophie! Or anyone!" Xavier called out dramatically.
"We're friends!" Dana grinned widely.
"You're right little, buddy," Xavier nodded, "I suppose we're all friends on this spaceship earth,"
"Are you high?" Chloe questioned her older brother, joining in on the conversation.
"I wish!" Dana cackled.
"I've trained you well," Chloe smirked, tossing Dana a dog biscuit which they happily ate.
"No!" Xavier answered Chloe's question, "I am obviously trying to deal with so much inner turmoil!"
"Okay, so stop trying and just deal with it," Chloe shrugged.
"I… hadn't considered that," Xavier thought for a few long moments, "But I don't know how."
"Friendship!" Dana called out.
"You're right!" Xavier suddenly straightened himself out, "I need to talk to my friends and beg for them to take me back! And then do the same to Trina!"
"I dunno about all that," Chloe shook her head, "Looks like half of your aforementioned friends are a little busy," Chloe nodded to a few rows away from them.
"Now why would you tell Trina that?" Jude whined.
"Because it would be funny!" Sophie laughed, "Besides, you and Xavier? Please. You may have low standards, but you at least have them,"
"Come on, be nice to Xavier. He's trying his best," Jude paused, "I think,"
"Jeez, maybe you really are in love with him," Sophie chuckled, "I've never heard you say anything kind about that man. Not that he deserves it,"
"Because as… grating as he is, his heart's always in the right place. Besides, pulling his leg isn't just affecting him anymore. It's affecting me and Trina and Emery and everyone else involved," Jude pointed out.
"Oh, so now Emery is involved?" Sophie couldn't help but tease her brother.
"Alright, that's enough," Jude did his best to put an end to the conversation.
"What? Mr. Broody doesn't want to talk about his feelings?" Sophie continued to tease Jude.
"No, seriously, Sophie, shut up," He nodded his head to where two people were talking before them, "I wanna see how this unfolds,"
"Hi Sydney!" Bob piped up.
"Hello, Robert," Sydney stiffened up, "Is there something I can help you with?"
"I just wanted to say hi!" Bob spoke.
"This is the most you've ever spoken to me. Something doesn't feel right," Sydney suddenly thought out loud, "Did Frank put you up to this?"
"Put me up to what?" Bob pretended as though he had no idea what was going on between Sydney and Frank.
"Are you stupid? Or just a good actor?" Sydney snapped, "Sorry, I didn't mean that,"
"You're good!" Bob continued to grin, "You should talk to Frank, though,"
"So Frank did put you up to this," Sydney sighed out.
"Yes," Bob nodded, "Sorry, I'm a very bad liar,"
"You can't help what you are," Sydney shook their head, "But go ahead and tell Frank if they want to talk to me he can come tell me himself,"
"Okay! I'll tell him!" Bob waddled off to find his brother. Watching all this unfold, another brother was convinced to do some snooping of his own.
"Hi Kate," Oscar spoke, "I'm uh, I'm sorry about everything that happened earlier,"
"Huh? Oh, um, thanks, Oscar," Kate nodded, somewhat cynically, "You have nothing to be sorry for,"
"Yeah but I worry if I don't apologize for his dumb ass nobody will," Oscar laughed, "Not that I don't think he's going to apologize but… hopefully you get what I mean."
"I completely get you," Kate nodded, "I have to ask, and also beg you to be honest but… Zach didn't put you up to this, did he?"
"He did not," Oscar shook his head, "Look, honestly, I think you're a really good couple. You make him better, you know? I also know he's a fucking dimwit, respectfully, of course. But his heart was in a good place. I know this is obvious, but I think you guys should talk. He should be the one to talk to you, but you should hear him out, you know?"
"I think you might be right. About all of it. Including the dimwit part," Kate laughed, "You've got a good head on your shoulders. I enjoy our conversations."
"Thanks Kate," Oscar smiled, suddenly distracted by something from the corner of his eye, "Now I know it's none of my business... but what do they talk about?"
"That was a very bold choice. Your song I mean," Sophie spoke confidently.
"Thank you? I think," Steven laughed.
"I meant it in a good way," Sophie nodded. "You and your sister seem very close, which is something I can relate to."
"Thanks," Steven smiled as that was the first time anyone had ever said anything even kind of like that about himself and Sydney, "It took us a while but I'm… really glad we're as close as we are now,"
"That's awesome! We are, of course, all God's children. But it's great being close to your parents' children too. I think both my siblings are absolute weirdos and I would die for them. On period. On God." Sophie nodded definitively.
"That's so funny, because I also would!" Xavier suddenly burst into the conversation.
"I'm so sorry for him," Sophie tried to speak to Steven, but Steven did not notice.
"Hi Xavier!" Steven waved.
"Hi Steven!" Xavier waved, "Do you mind if I talk to Sophie alone for a moment?"
Though Steven barely nodded, Xavier suddenly pulled Sophie away, "So, what has Trina said about me?"
"I was having a lovely conversation. And you pulled me away from it. And for what? Your weird petty drama?" Sophie sighed out dramatically.
"It's not petty!" Xavier pouted, "Someone's been messing up everything!"
"Was it you?" Sophie raised her eyebrows, "Falling in love with our brother? That's low. Even for you," She shook her head disappointedly.
"I am not in love with your brother! At least I don't think I am?" Xavier paused, "Wait. Are you trying to convince me that I am?"
"You are not immune to gaslighting, Xavier," Sophie shook her head laughing, "Come on, it's cool! It'll all be fine you big baby!"
"How could you possibly know that?" Xavier whined loudly.
"Because" Sophie pointed to where her siblings were talking, "Jude's setting the story straight right now,"
"So… you're not in love with Xavier?" Trina clarified.
"What do you take me for?" Jude questioned genuinely.
"Well!" Trina threw her hands in the air, "I'm sure you can understand how confusing all of this has been for me,"
"And I'm sure you can understand how frustrating all of this has been for me," Jude sighed out. "Look, even I'll admit, it was pretty funny at first. But it got taken too far. I'm just tired,"
"You're always tired," Trina reminded him, "But thank you. For setting the story straight. I still don't know if I'm going to take Xavier back but-"
"I literally could not care less," Jude interrupted her, "But I'm not in love with Xavier. However, whether or not he's in love with me…"
"Not funny, Jude," Trina placed her hands on her hips.
"It was a little funny," Jude smirked.
While things were finally starting to turn around for Trina, the same could not be said for Rey who hid in the back of the auditorium, hoping nobody would find her after her argument with Cay. And to her credit, she managed to stay hidden for a long while. That was, until, a familiar and friendly face came into view.
"There you are," Simon spoke kindly and gently, "I was looking all over for you,"
"You were?" Rey questioned, surprised anyone had been looking for her.
"Of course I was," Simon continued speaking, his voice low as he took a seat next to the youngest Abrams, "I sort of, you know, saw that you and Cay got into it a little bit. Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not really," Rey shook her head, "It's all just been… a lot. You know? Like I felt like once I was outed everything would sort of just fall into place and it just… hasn't."
"I get that," Simon nodded slowly, "I mean I've been struggling a bit too. It's… as you said… it's a lot,"
"Easy for you to say," Rey smirked, "When the person you've been pining for was pining right back,"
"Hey, this isn't about that," Simon spoke, "But uh… how do you know that?"
"Mack is Tommy's best friend. I know him almost as well as I know Tommy," Rey laughed, "But uh, Simon?"
"Yeah?" Simon looked over to his much smaller peer.
"Thanks. For talking to me and everything. I appreciate it," She smiled kindly.
"Of course, Rey," Simon smiled, leaning in to give her a sort of side hug.
"You're staring," Teddy came up behind Cay, spooking her.
"Jeez, don't sneak up on me like that," Cay shook her head, "And I just… I don't know. Want to make sure she's okay,"
"I think you're a good friend for that," Teddy spoke honestly.
"If you're right, that's the first thing I've done as a 'good friend' in a while," Cay sighed out.
"Seriously, what's going on with you? I mean… I know things with you and Rey are weird now but… I've never seen you this down," Teddy raised his eyebrow.
"I guess… I don't know. I just never thought Rey and I would not be in each other's lives," Cay admitted.
"You're still going to be in each other's lives. We carpool," Teddy teased, "Seriously, though. You guys will get through this. You always do,"
"Let's hope so," Cay sighed out, looking up to see another pair of siblings seemingly talking it out.
"Hey," Zoey spoke dryly.
"Oh, Zoey," Addison was shocked, but glad his twin had made her way over to him, "What's going on?"
"I just wanted to say… I appreciated your song today," Zoey nodded slowly.
"Really?" Addison was, rightfully, surprised, "I liked yours too,"
"Thanks," Zoey spoke slowly once more, "Look, I know things are about to get weird with mom and… whoever she's dating or whatever. So I guess like, I just feel like it's important to talk about that with you?"
"I feel like there's not much to talk about," Addison shrugged, "I mean at least if she's busy with him she's not up my ass,"
"I know this is hard for you to understand but my relationship with mom is… strained. At best. I just need to know that you're here for me," Zoey found herself surprised to admit.
"Yeah, of course," Addison nodded slowly, "I've got your back, Zo. I hope you have mine too,"
"I'm sure I can make that work," Zoey smirked, suddenly looking to where another conversation was happening, "What's that about?"
"No idea," Addison shook his head, "Wanna snoop?"
"Of course I do," Zoey smirked, herself and Addison now quietly to try to listen to whatever Trina and Emery could have possibly been talking about.
"You need to lay off of him," Trina spoke suddenly.
"I'm… sorry?" Emery turned, surprised that it was Trina who was speaking to them in that tone.
"I said lay off," Trina crossed her arms over her chest, "He's better off without you,"
"Oh… I," Emery paused, trying to process all of this, "I did not realize he felt that way,"
"He belongs with me," Trina stated matter-of-factly, "I know you think you're all that because of your alien language club thing but-,"
"Woah, woah, hold on a minute," Emery suddenly put her hands up, "You're talking about Xavier?"
"Yes, obviously!" Trina spoke, exasperated.
"Believe me," Emery couldn't help but laugh. "He's all yours. He's done nothing but complain about how he wants you. And nobody else. I also don't want him at all. Respectfully,"
"Oh," Trina sighed out, feeling somewhat silly, "Well… good," Trina paused once more, "Wait, who were you talking about if not Xavier?"
"Uh," Emery suddenly also felt very silly, "Nobody?"
"God, some people are clueless," Kendall laughed, shaking her head as she, too, was eavesdropping on Emery and Trina.
"Versus what? Being nosy as hell?" Oliver smirked, making way to come stand next to her, "Always a pleasure, Kendall."
"Likewise," She rolled her eyes, snickering, "So to what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Just thought I'd come and make sure you're not spilling anymore beans," Oliver spoke dryly.
"Spilling beans? God, what are you a grandpa?" Kendall scoffed, "Besides, I barely did anything,"
"Yeah," Oliver nodded, "I know,"
"So… why are you really here then?" Kendall suddenly felt very confused.
"Because," Oliver started slowly, "While I'm still pissed that everything went down and that two of my siblings got dragged into it, I dunno, I just want you to know I don't blame you. Not entirely anyways,"
"Really?" This came as a surprise to Kendall, "Even though I put your whole 'I'm a bad boy and that's why I'm in the Warblers' thing on blast?"
"That is absolutely not a 'thing'," Oliver laughed, "But yes. Honestly, Leah's never been… my favorite person. So I was kind of disappointed but not surprised,"
"Well then, I'm happy to be of service," Kendall joked, "However, as you mentioned earlier, I am nosy as hell and it looks like some shit's about to go down," Kendall nodded to where Zach had finally managed to grab a hold of Kate.
"Hey," Zach called out, trying to speak between breaths, "Can we talk?"
"I can, can you?" Kate half laughed, "Why are you so out of breath?"
"Because I've been wandering all over this damn auditorium looking for you," Zach shook his head finally catching his breath.
"Well," Kate spoke slowly, giving him the chance to collect both his thoughts and the air in his lungs, "I'm here,"
"Look. I done goofed. But I'm trying to done serious," Zach spoke, placing his hands in front of him if for nothing more than dramatic effect.
"I don't know that I quite follow…" Kate thought out loud.
"Look, I just like," Zach wiggled around for a moment, almost like a toddler before they have a tantrum, "I just have all these feelings. For you, don't worry. And I like…I don't know? I don't know how to express them,"
"Well, I can tell you whatever happened up there was not it," Kate raised her eyebrows, but was sincerely trying to hear him out.
"Yeah, I know that now. And I'm just… I'm really sorry. I would never do anything to upset you or anything on purpose, you know?" Zach sighed.
"I know," Kate smiled, "And I, of course, accept your apology. But please… just talk to me when you're… feeling your feelings," She couldn't help but laugh, "I know you're someone who likes doing big grand gestures but… sometimes it's better to just talk to me first,"
"You got it," Zach smiled widely, "So… are we good?"
"Yeah," Kate nodded, reaching up to kiss him gently, "We're good,"
"Aw, I love a happy ending!" Sawyer cooed, "and Kate deserves it!"
"I couldn't agree more," Steven grinned, "About both things!"
"Speaking of that," Sawyer started slowly, "How's Sydney holding up? I know it's not my business and they're kind of mean sometimes but I'm still worried about them,"
"And that, my amigo, is why you are simply the best," Steven laughed, "But I uh, I don't really know? I obviously hope that Syd is fine. But we talked a little and… I dunno,"
"Well," Sawyer nodded his head slightly to the side, "It seems as though she's talking to the new girl? So maybe she's feeling better?"
"Sydney never talks to anyone new," Steven thought out loud, "Which means this is either really good or really bad,"
"Are you okay?" Ingrid spoke slowly, coming up behind Sydney as to not scare them.
"Do I know you?" Sydney furrowed her eyebrows.
"Ingrid?" She laughed, "I just joined glee a few days ago and.."
"Listen, I'm not here to give the competition any tips on winning," Sydney spoke sharply, "I'm sure you think I'm amazing, but you can just go ahead and get in line,"
"I'm in your glee club," Ingrid laughed, "But you're right. You do seem pretty amazing,"
"People rarely fall for that bait," Sydney mused, "So what's your deal?"
"I just thought that today… and the last few days seemed like a lot for you, so I wanted to see if you were okay," Ingrid laughed, reaching to place a hand on the side of Sydney's arm which they promptly swatted away.
"Did Frank put you up to this?" Sydney sneered.
"What?" Ingrid laughed once more.
"Oh, I don't have time for this. And now what are they talking about?" Sydney moved to turn her head in the direction of Kate and Leslie.
"So… you're okay?" Leslie confirmed, speaking to Kate just as she and Zach had moved on to mingle with others.
"I'm great actually," Kate smiled, "Things worked out really well, which I'm obviously very happy about. But how about you? I know this week's been a lot for you too,"
"I'm surprisingly doing pretty alright," Leslie laughed, "I dunno, seeing everyone sort of just… dealing with everything together as a group? There's something so wholesome about it,"
"No, I completely agree," Kate nodded in agreement, "Like, I don't know. It's just nice to have such a huge support system,"
"Speaking of support system," Leslie laughed, "I think someone's here to see you,"
"Do you mind?" Kate asked, referring to turning to speak to the person waiting on her.
"Go ahead," Leslie smiled.
"Kate!" Eric called out, "I've been looking everywhere for you, bestie!"
"That is almost exactly what Zach said to me. Minus the bestie part," Kate laughed, "What's up, what's going on?"
"I just had to give you something!" Eric explained happily.
"Oh?" Kate laughed, wondering where this could be going, "What is it?"
"Here," Eric grinned before simply wrapping his older sister up in a hug.
"Aw, Eric," Kate laughed, of course, reciprocating the hug, "You always have just the perfect thing to say, and the perfect thing to give,"
"That could be us, but you're playing," Rowan spoke laughing, giving their sister a startle.
"We've got to get you a cat bell," Hazel laughed, "You're too sneaky,"
"It's a gift," Rowan sighed out dreamily, "So… how are things?"
"Are you trying to make small talk with me?" Hazel laughed.
"I barely known what small talk is," Rowan confessed with a shrug, "But I just, I dunno, wanted to make sure you're chilling or whatever,"
"Well, you'll be happy to know that I am, in fact, chilling or whatever," Hazel laughed, "How are you holding up?"
"Pretty great, actually. You know the gossip blog and being held captive in the auditorium for two days in a row thing aside," Rowan laughed.
"Not us both doing great," Hazel laughed, high-fiving Rowan before getting distracted, "Oh, there she goes,"
"Stop hidinggggg I wanna hang out with you!" Sophie called out dramatically, pulling on Rey's arm so hard Rey thought it might pop out of the socket.
"Can you stop yanking me so hard?" Rey complained.
"I'm just trying to get you to come hang! You can't mope away in this weird little corner forever!" Sophie practically yelled.
"I can try!" Rey exclaimed back.
"People want to talk to you!" Sophie whined.
"Like who?" Rey dramatically pouted.
"Like me, Rey! Obviously!" Sophie responded.
"And me?" Flora laughed, watching her two friends arguing, "What's going on over here anyways?"
"I'm just trying to get Rey to mingle with the rest of us," Sophie explained, finally dropping Rey's arm.
"Well, does Rey want to mingle?" Flora raised her eyebrows.
"No. And thank you for being the first person to ask," Rey sighed out, brushing her arm off.
"Okay, so don't then," Sophie threw her arms in the air in defeat, "What about you, Schuester? You not mingling either?"
"I mean," Flora sighed out, "I don't know. I'm kind of scared to talk to Anthony. Or Delia. Or my dad. Or anyone. Besides you two, of course,"
"Aww," Rey smiled, "Well, we're honored,"
"Speak for yourself," Sophie spoke to Rey before turning her attention back to Flora, "We're honored,"
"Good," Flora laughed, "Although, Rey, it looks like someone's looking for your attention,"
"What?" Rey questioned before looking up to who it was, "Oh, I'll be right back,"
"So much for not wanting to mingle!" Sophie called out after her.
"Dana!" Rey ran up to her sibling, "Where've you been?"
"Oh, you know," Dana shrugged simply.
"I don't know," Rey laughed, "That's why I asked. Are you having a good day?"
"Whee!" Was all Dana's response was.
"So true, bestie," Rey nodded thoughtfully.
"Now, I know you two aren't bonding without me," Tommy gasped, climbing over rows of seats to make his way to his siblings.
"Hi Tommy," Rey and Dana spoke in perfect unison.
"Spooky," Tommy noted, "So what are doing? Who are we talking about?"
"Nobody, actually," Rey explained with a small shrug, "We had just started talking,"
"Likely story," Tommy spoke, clearly having his suspicions "Well either way, have either of you seen Naomi?"
"No, I haven't," Rey shook her head.
"Chloe!" Dana called out happily.
"Not Chloe, Dana. Naomi," Tommy spoke slowly to Dana.
"No! Chloe!" Dana called out once more pointing to their friend who was having a conversation just a few feet away.
"I wasn't expecting you to talk to me," Sawyer laughed, "But I'm glad you're here,"
"Why wouldn't I talk to you?" Chloe furrowed her eyebrows.
"I dunno, you usually just seem busy or something," Sawyer shrugged.
"I'm gonna level with you, kid," Chloe shrugged lazily, "It has come to my attention that I do not have… maybe as many friends as I should. I mean Xavier doesn't count. And Dana just started following me around one day and I let them cause they're chill. But I dunno. You seem alright,"
"So…" Sawyer began hopefully, "You wanna be friends?"
"Yeah, why not?" Chloe shrugged once more, "I mean, Dana likes you fine. Nobody in glee seems to have a problem with you. So consider this my official self-invitation to your clique,"
"What clique?" Sawyer was suddenly confused.
"You know. Like you, Dana, Steven," Chloe waved her hand lazily as she explained, "Speak of the devil," Chloe laughed, averting her attention to where she saw Steven practically tripping over himself to get to someone else.
"Frank!" Steven called out.
"Steven?" Frank furrowed their eyebrows, "What's up, little man?"
"I uh, you know, just wanted to come check in," Steven flashed a smile – the same smile he tended to use in his 'show face'.
"This… doesn't have anything to do with Sydney does it?" Frank questioned nervously.
"Let me level with you, Frank," Steven spoke, his tone suddenly almost weirdly professional, "You and Syd are a great match! I'd hate to see you fall out over a silly mistake on your part. No offense,"
"None taken," Frank nodded, "I just… don't know how to make things right?"
"Well, you've come to the right person!" Steven beamed.
"You came to me," Frank laughed.
"Yes. And in all honesty, I have no idea what I'm doing. So maybe I'm not the right person. But I'm here to support you in any way I can!" Steven nodded.
"Should I… should I go talk to her?" Frank questioned.
"Maybe wait to see how the conversation she's having with Kate goes… it's a dice roll," Steven spoke knowingly.
"Sydney, you can't just sit around and mope," Kate tried to talk Sydney out of their slump, also trying to figure out how she got roped into this conversation at all.
"Easy for you to say when Zach practically came begging to you for forgiveness," Sydney raised her eyebrows.
"This isn't about me," Kate spoke, her voice almost stern, "Look, it's not easy, but you've gotta figure out what you want to do about the situation. I can't help you. Nobody can help you except for you. Once you figure out what Sydney wants, you can figure the rest out,"
"That was shockingly profound, Karofsky," Sydney noted, "I'll sit on this and get back to you shortly," Sydney decided on before suddenly getting up and walking away.
"What was that?" Kate spoke to herself.
"Friendship!" A voice came from behind her.
"Dana," Kate laughed, "Where did you come from?"
"Kitty," Dana stated simply.
"You know what," Kate chuckled, "That's fair enough,"
"Friendship!" Dana called out again.
"Dana you said that already," Kate noted.
"No! Look! Friendship!" Dana pointed to two girls in the corner speaking.
"I don't know that I'd call that friendship, but as always I admire your optimism," Kate smiled.
"Hey," Kendall spoke
"Oh," Nikki turned, surprised to see Kendall speaking to her, "I didn't realize we were talking,"
"Why wouldn't we be?" Kendall questioned.
"I dunno, maybe because of the whole getting our asses handed to us over a gossip blog thing?" Nikki laughed, "Are you not bothered by that?"
"Not at all, actually," Kendall shrugged, "I knew it would happen. Like does it suck that it got out of hand? Sure. But now we all know who the pure evil behind it was. No offense,"
"Why would that offend me?" Nikki tilted her head to the side.
"Because you're sisters?" Kendall tried.
"I still see no connection," Nikki shook her head.
Before Kendall had the chance to answer, both girls were surprised to find themselves looking at the same thing, asking "Oh, what the hell is this?" in unison.
"Hey man," Ambrose stepped beside Oliver, "I thought it was cool how you stepped up and sang today,"
"Um, thanks," Oliver scrunched his nose, "I think,"
"It's just nice to see any of the Warblers sort of… stepping up and coming out of their shells," Ambrose explained with a shrug.
"Yeah, I get that," Oliver nodded, "You sure seemed to come out of your shell today, huh, Champ?" Oliver smirked, nudging Ambrose.
"Hm?" Ambrose spoke, trying to buy himself time to think of something to say, "Oh, well, um, yes, given the opportunity and theme I thought it would be acceptable to-"
"Dude, chill," Oliver laughed, "This isn't like, the third degree or anything like that. I just thought it was dope that you, you know, did that for him. I'm sure he appreciated it. Have you spoken to him yet, by the way? After the performances, I mean,"
"I actually haven't, I-" Ambrose tried but was interrupted once again.
"What are we talking about, gents?" Nikki grinned, asserting herself into the conversation.
"Ambrose was just about to tell me that he's yet to man up and go talk to Sutton," Oliver teased.
"Now, let's not get carried away that's not what I-" Ambrose once again was not given the chance to finish his sentence.
"Well, why not?" Nikki tried.
"I thought… I thought you and Sutton didn't get along?" Ambrose was suddenly confused.
"I also thought that," Oliver laughed.
"Just 'cause I want his demise does not also mean I don't want him to be happy," Nikki spoke as though she was making a valid point.
"Those things rarely… co-exist. So I'm sure you can forgive my confusion," Ambrose spoke, his mind muddled with how he ended up in a conversation with two Puckerman's that weren't Sutton.
"Sure. What we can't forgive is you being a coward," Nikki snickered.
"Nikki, be nice," Oliver warned, "But for real, dude. Man up," He raised his eyebrows at Ambrose.
"It would be rude to leave the conversation I'm currently having," Ambrose was surprised to find himself looking for excuses.
"No it's not. It's real easy," Nikki shrugged, "Watch. Hey Audrey!"
"Hey?" Audrey laughed as Nikki made her way over to her, "What's up?"
"I was just leaving a conversation to prove a point," Nikki shrugged, "But now that I have you here, I uh, I just wanted to say sorry for Leah. I know we're not the same person, but I don't know what the hell all of that was,"
"Um, thanks," Audrey paused, a sudden question coming to her mind, though she lowered her voice as she asked, "So wait, do you know about Beth, too?"
"I sure do," Nikki nodded, "I also know where you can find her. Basically all the time,"
"You're… you're still in touch with her?" Audrey's eyes widened.
"Sure am," Nikki shrugged, "No pressure or anything, but if you ever want to meet her I can hook you up,"
"I'm sorry Nikki this is just…. a lot right now," Audrey shook her head.
"That's fair, I'm sorry," Nikki sighed out, "Subject change. Do you have any idea who the hell that is?"
The who in question, was of course Juliet, who was stood talking to Delia.
"I heard you joined the Troubletones," Delia spoke, "So I figured I would come and introduce myself properly. I am Delia Schuester and while I am also fairly new to the Troubletones, I have been a part of show choir for a very long time,"
"Let me guess," Juliet sighed out, already bored with this introduction, "You dropped out of New Directions to become part of the Troubletones,"
"Well," Delia spoke slowly, unsure how Juliet figured that out so quickly, "Yes. Have you seen me perform in New Directions?"
"Oh," Juliet laughed, "No. Your last name fully gives you away,"
"I see," Delia nodded slowly, "Well, if you'd like to I can introduce you to a few of the other Troubletones…"
"It appears as though they're a little busy right now," Juliet nodded in the direction that Delia had been looking.
"He definitely did not say that," Tia rolled her eyes.
"Why do you never believe me?" Heather groaned.
"Have you ever given me a reason to?" Tia tried her.
"Okay, listen," Heather sighed out, "That's fair enough. But why would I lie about Felix and Zoey? What would I get out of that?"
"It's pretty funny, I'll give you that," Tia raised her eyebrows, "And I wouldn't put it past you to try and pull one over on me,"
"You know I love a good goof," Heather nodded, "But I am so serious. I swear on my life! And Mia's!"
"You can't just swear on her life like that," Tia rolled her eyes once more, "But fine. I believe you. But what do we do about it?"
"I don't know! That's why I came to you! You're the smart one!" Heather called out dramatically.
"Isn't Zoey usually the 'smart' one?" Tia raised her eyebrows.
"Yeah, but now she's got Felix brainrot!" Heather spoke like it was the most obvious thing in the world, earning a blank stare from Tia, "Forget it, I guess I'll have to call in reinforcements,"
"Reinforcements?" Tia verified.
"Audrey!" Heather ran down to find her friend, "I need your help! It's life or death!"
"Hm?" Audrey looked up, still distracted and confused by what Nikki had just told her, "Oh hey, Heather. What's going on?"
"My young life is over as I know it!" Heather cried out dramatically, "Do you care?"
"Of course I care," Audrey spoke, though her voice was barely above a murmur.
"Doesn't sound like it," Heather squinted her eyes before knocking on Audrey's forehead, "Hello? Anyone in there?"
"Knock it off," Audrey waved her friend off.
"Jeez, someone's in a mood," Heather noted.
"Just a lot on my plate right now," Audrey tried to explain.
"Mine too! How does this keep happening to us?" Heather whined.
"Can we talk about this later?" Audrey questioned suddenly, "Sorry," she shook her head before walking away.
Unfortunately she did not get very far before getting stopped again by someone else.
"Hey Audrey," Finley grinned, "Woah, you look like you've seen a ghost. You okay?"
"Huh?" Audrey shook her head, "Um yeah, I guess. I don't know. Just a weird day, I guess?"
"Been a weird week, I think. Maybe even a weird month," Finley chuckled, "But if you need anything, you know where to find me, right?"
"Of course," Audrey smiled nodding, "And, um, thanks,"
"You don't have to thank me," Finley shrugged, "That's what friends are for!"
"Well, I'm still going to thank you," Audrey laughed, "For being a good friend,"
"Well then, you're welcome," Finley chuckled in turn, "Hey uh, could you excuse me for a minute?"
"Sure," Audrey nodded, watching Finley dash off to go see his family.
"There he is! The man, the myth, the legend," Rowan laughed.
"Oh, shut up," Finley rolled his eyes, "Oh, hey, great job out there today guys. Seriously, you were incredible,"
"I feel like you might be a little tiny bit biased," Hazel raised her eyebrows skeptically, but laughed, "But I'm glad you enjoyed it,"
"It's hard not to enjoy a performance when it's dedicated to me," Finley shrugged.
"Well, I'm just glad it was one of the dedications that went over well," Rowan sighed out, "You were good too though, man,"
"You think so?" Finley questioned sincerely.
"What would I gain from lying to you?" Rowan questioned right back, seemingly distracted by something else.
"Yes," Hazel actually answered Finley's question, "We're both very proud of you,"
"Aw thanks guys," Finley cooed, "Or should I say… just you Hazel. Where did Rowan run off to?"
"Hey bestie," Rowan spoke, a sly smile on their face.
"Since when do you say bestie?" Savannah laughed.
"Since now, obviously," Rowan laughed, "But I uh, just wanted to say I had a lot of fun performing with you today,"
"That is very sweet of you to say, Rowan," Savannah smiled, glad that Finley's family was warming up to her, "Maybe we could work together more in glee in the future?"
"Yeah," Rowan nodded, smiling. They didn't have a lot of friends, and though this felt like a cop out because it was Finley's girlfriend, they were still happy to have her around, "I'd like that,"
"It's settled then," Savannah grinned, "Oh shoot, I gotta run but I'll see you later, okay?"
And with that Savannah was off to run and see one of her other friends, grabbing him before he got distracted, which she was sure he would.
"Lex!" She called out, "Hey. I've been looking for you,"
"Well hello friend, here I am!" Lex grinned happily, "What's going on?"
"I just thought it was really cool how you went up there and did your little sibling thing today," Savannah shrugged, "Coming from an only child, it was really sweet to see,"
"Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it," Lex grinned, "I don't know, Michael and I have always gotten on pretty well, but… it's nice that we're finally getting kind of close I guess?"
"Like emotionally? Or physically?" Savannah laughed, "Cause he's right here,"
"What?" Lex turned around to see his brother, grinning as he recognized him and Savannah turned to try to find Finley once more.
"Hey Lex," Michael grinned.
"What's up buddy?" Lex grinned, draping an arm over his shoulders.
"Feeling a little… overwhelmed. With everything," Michael admitted, "But uh, I'm glad to see you,"
"Why say that like we don't live together?" Lex laughed, "But I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed. Can I do anything to help?"
"Nah, I'll be okay," Michael nodded, "But uh, I just wanted to say I'm glad we're spending some more time together. It's nice,"
"I was just saying the same thing to Savannah!" Lex grinned.
"You were?" Michael laughed, somewhat surprised.
"I was," Lex nodded excessively, "And now it's your turn to tell your bestie the same thing," Lex grinned, aimlessly wandering off before Michael even had a chance to react.
"Oh, hey Eric," Michael smiled as he saw his best friend find him.
"Hi Michael! I loved your song," Eric grinned, "I think you're really talented."
"Thanks, Eric," Michael nodded, "I appreciate it a lot,"
"Of course, friend!" Eric continued to smile wide, "I really do think you should talk to the council about being in more songs. I think we'd all love to see it!"
"I don't know," Michael scratched the back of his neck, "I wouldn't want to be a bother,"
"I really don't think it would be a bother," Eric shrugged, "Look, here comes a councilman now, anyways! I'll let you two talk, but think about what I said," Eric raised his eyebrows as he, much like Lex before, wandered off aimlessly.
"Michael!" Mack grinned mindlessly, of course, remembering their chat the day previous, "Strange how we always end up hanging out in this auditorium, huh?"
"Yeah, it's a little strange," Michael laughed, "You must be happy to see your brother so much though, right?"
"Absolutely," Mack nodded, "I'm guessing it's the same for you?"
"Definitely," Michael agreed.
"Anyways, I just wanted to let you know I had a great time performing with you today," Mack smiled, his demeanor never once faltering, "I'm hoping we could work together more doing stuff in the Warblers?"
"I," Michael couldn't help but laugh, already picturing Eric's reaction when he'd tell him how this unfolded, "I'd think that be great,"
"Great!" Mack nodded decisively, "Now if you'll excuse me, I've got important council stuff to attend to,"
And just as quickly as he'd showed up to say hi to Michael, Mack was now finding the next person he wished to annoy.
"Teddy!" He waved, calling out loudly.
"You don't have to wave," Teddy raised his eyebrows, "I can see you fine,"
"I didn't know that," Mack shrugged simply, "How are ya doing buddy?"
"I'm fine," Teddy spoke slowly, "Why?"
"Can I not just talk to my best bud?" Mack pouted.
"You can," Teddy nodded, "But Tommy is over there,"
"Oh would you look at that," Mack nodded in turn, a dopey smile on his face.
"Mack, for someone who is always telling me to be more in touch with my feelings, you certainly seem to be avoiding yours," Teddy noted.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Mack blatantly lied.
"Look, if this is about Simon…" Teddy started but was abruptly interrupted.
"Oh, would you look at the time!" Mack forced a laugh, turning quick on his heels, trying to find literally anyone else to talk to.
Shaking his head, Teddy enjoyed the millisecond of peace he felt when Mack turned around, only to hear his name being obnoxiously called from the opposite side of the room.
"Oh good," Teddy muttered to himself, "Tommy. Can I help you?"
"You seem cranky. Like more so than usual," Tommy noted, not waiting for Teddy to respond before continuing, "Anyways, no you can not help me. I am simply hanging out,"
"So I take it you've already asked Naomi out then?" Teddy raised his eyebrows, suddenly realizing he was the only person on the council not fawning over one of the Jones'.
"For a smart person you sure… aren't," Tommy chuckled.
"I'm going to pretend you didn't say that," Teddy spoke, unsure why he was even humoring Tommy, but continued on anyways, "So why haven't you asked her out yet, then?"
"I've got to wait for the right time! For the right moment," Tommy explained dramatically, "Plus I sort of want to, I dunno, check in with her fam first, you know, make sure they like me," Tommy winked.
"I don't think you should-" Teddy tried to speak, but Tommy had already ran off.
"Simon! My man! My main man!" Tommy grinned, "How ya doing, buddy?"
"Oh, hey Tommy," Simon smiled, though he suddenly felt nervous, "What's um, what's up?"
"So as you may or may not know," Tommy spoke in hushed tones for maybe the first time in his life, "Naomi and I are getting pretty serious,"
"Oh…oh," Simon suddenly realized what was happening, "Look Tommy… I uh, I just don't know if right now is… right,"
"Not right for what?" Tommy questioned, genuinely confused.
"To ask her out? I mean, it's just been a weird week for everyone, and I don't know…" Simon trailed off, trying his best to prevent any awkwardness between Tommy and Naomi.
"You know what you are, Simon?" Tommy suddenly gasped, clutching his invisible pearls, "You're a hater. I feel very sorry for you,"
"It's not that Tommy! It's just-" Simon tried to interject but was ignored blatantly by Tommy.
"Shh… it's okay. But you'll see. This is a great idea," Tommy nodded, now prancing off to try to find Naomi if for no other reason than to prove the naysayers wrong.
"That looked… rough," a voice from behind Simon spooked him, only surprising him more when he saw who it was.
"Oh, Isaac," Simon shook his head, "Sorry I um, I wasn't expecting to see you,"
"I don't know what you were expecting, we have enough of these little glee mixers," Isaac laughed, "Are you okay?"
"Uh, yeah, I think so. Are… are you?" Simon raised his eyebrows.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just thought that conversation with Tommy looked… kind of intense. But then again, I guess that's how he is," Isaac shrugged easily.
"I guess you'd know him pretty well, huh? Cause of your brother?" Simon questioned almost shyly.
"Yeah. He's a good guy but… intense. Tommy, I mean. Mack's a good guy but an idiot," Isaac smirked, "He seems to like you a lot though,"
"He… does," Simon repeated, almost as if to let it sync in.
"Yeah, you should talk to him," Isaac nodded.
"I um, I will," Simon decided as he thought out loud.
"Cool, let me know how it goes," Isaac shrugged once more before seeing another familiar face, wandering towards it. "Hey, Bob,"
"Isaac!" Bob smiled, "What's up?"
"Just meddling in Mack's life, the usual," Isaac chuckled, "What's going on with you?"
"Same," Bob nodded, "With Frank, I mean. Not Mack,"
"How's that going anyways? Sydney seemed… angry. And I'm in glee with them, and I've seen them angry," Isaac shuddered at the thought.
"I'm gonna be honest, I don't even know where Frank is. I saw Sydney for a second and she was not interested in talking to me," Bob shook his head.
"Well, looks like Frank's right over there," Isaac nodded his head towards him, "Good luck,"
"Thanks Isaac," Bob grinned, the two high fiving as Bob waddled over to his brother. "Frank!"
"Bob!" Frank called out in turn, "I've been looking all over for you! I'm freaking out, man,"
"Don't freak out," Was Bob's only piece of advice.
"I'm trying but… it's a lot," Frank shook his head. "Help me!"
"I don't know how!" Bob cried out. "Uh oh,"
"What is it?" Frank questioned, only met with a look of pure fear on Bob's face, "Bob?"
"Hello, Franklin," Sydney stood, arms crossed over her chest.
"See ya later!" Bob called out, running off and leaving Frank to fend for himself.
"Uh, hi Sydney…" Frank spoke slowly.
"You don't speak. I speak. Got it?" Sydney questioned sternly, earning several nods in a row from Frank. "Good. So listen. You fucked up. You fucked up big time. You do realize that, yes?"
"Yes, I-" Frank started.
"I said no talking," Sydney reminded them, "However. The fact that you realize you fucked up makes me want to believe that you've grown. Have you grown, Frank?" After nodding his head once more, Sydney smiled. "Look at you learning! Anyways, I have decided to be grateful and give you another chance. Because," her voice suddenly lowered, "Because I also you know, like you. A lot or whatever. Okay you can talk now,"
"I like you too, Sydney," Frank grinned, "And I'm sorry,"
"I know," Sydney smirked, leaning in to give Frank a quick but passionate kiss, "Anyways, I got to go, but wait for me after, okay?"
Once again nodding, left speechless by Sydney, Frank simply watched them walk off to talk to one of her glee friends.
"Alright, St. James, what's the scoop?" Sydney raised her eyebrows as she spoke.
"The scoop on what?" Anthony was confused, "And where did you come from?"
"On anything?" Sydney tried, "You really have no new information on anyone or anything?"
"I mean," Anthony thought out loud, "Oh I met that new girl? Ing something? Anyways, weird vibes,"
"The weirdest vibes, right?" Sydney was glad someone else saw it, "So, are you going to talk to the Schuester?"
"Delia? I already did," Anthony shrugged.
"Don't play stupid, you're too good at it," Sydney hit him in the back of the head, "Go talk to her or I will,"
"Why do you suddenly want to help me?" Anthony suddenly grew suspicious.
"Help you with what?" Sydney's concern showed on their face, "I'm talking about spying,"
"Oh, right, of course! That!" Anthony nodded, "I was um, I was just going to do that now,"
"Okay so go do it?" Sydney spoke, clearly annoyed.
"I'm going!" Anthony threw his arms in the air, walking backwards.
"Going where?" Flora laughed as he nearly ran into her.
"To find you, actually," Anthony put on his most charismatic smile, "Hey,"
"Hey yourself," Flora cooed, "I um, I thought your song was really sweet,"
"You did?" Anthony cleared his throat, embarrassed by how taken aback by a compliment, he, Lima's biggest star was, "I mean, it was pretty good. I'm a great talent you know," he shrugged before continuing on, "I was singing it for you, by the way,"
"Believe it or not, I actually got that," Flora giggled, "I, you know, I sang mine for you too,"
"I was hoping so," Anthony smirked, his voice suddenly lowering, "I, uh, I meant what I sang in the song by the way,"
"So did I," Flora smiled.
"Oh yeah?" Anthony grinned, the space between them gradually growing smaller and smaller until a sudden interruption caught them both off guard.
"Flora?!" Delia called, "I'd like to talk to you. Now,"
"Delia? I'm a little busy," Flora tried to hint.
"Yeah, I think we can all see that," Delia raised her eyebrows.
After sighing and excusing herself from Anthony, Flora stepped aside to talk to her sister, "What is it, Delia?"
"Are you insane?" Delia spoke in hushed but harsh tones.
"No?" Flora was confused and upset, "What is this about?"
"Anthony, obviously! What if Dad would have come in right when that started to happen? What then?" Delia tried.
"I thought we were good! I thought you were finally on my side," Flora began defending herself, but was not surprised when she was cut off by her sister.
"We are good. That's why I'm trying to help you," Delia spoke like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Help me how?" Flora whined.
"By telling you that while I don't understand your relationship with Anthony, I respect it. But you have to be more lowkey than that. At least if you want to survive glee," Delia spoke surprisingly gently.
"I… guess you're right," Flora sighed out, "But are you done lecturing me?"
"Yes. Go," Delia waved her sister off, "Sisters," she mumbled to herself.
"Brothers aren't any better," Zoey rolled her eyes, surprising Delia by coming up next to her.
"Oh believe me, I know that too," Delia shook her head, "My brother's a bit older than I am, but at least he isn't having an affair with a boy from another school,"
"Fair enough," Zoey nodded.
"Why are you speaking to me anyways?" Delia was suddenly concerned, "Please forgive me saying so but you don't exactly seem the… type for conversation."
"And what makes you say that?" Zoey rolled her eyes.
"I may be wrong but this is the first time you've ever initiated a conversation with me," Delia noted.
"Well, congratulations, now I'm ending it," Turning on her heels to walk away, she was not any more happy than she was previously as she looked at a trio of girls staring her down, "Now, what the hell is all of this?"
"It's an intervention," Heather spoke, surprisingly calmly.
"If anyone needs an intervention it's you. Purple is so last season," Zoey nodded towards Heather's hair.
"Felix seems to like it," Tia noted.
"Weird as hell thing to say," Zoey retorted.
"Look, Zo. We know," Mia tried to speak kindly.
"I don't think any of you know anything. Disrespectfully," Zoey rolled her eyes, "Now if you'll excuse me,"
"We won't," Heather shook her head, "I'm sorry but I just can't have you being my in law. Unless it's cousin in law when Mia and I get married in a few years,"
"Word," Mia nodded.
"A few years?" Tia clarified.
"In laws?" Zoey scoffed, "You guys are more insane than I thought. I don't know what all of this is about, but quite frankly I've had enough,"
"So… you don't have Felix brainrot?" Mia questioned, visibly confused.
"That is the grossest sentence I have ever heard," Zoey scrunched her nose up.
"Well, uh, crisis averted then, I guess?" Heather shrugged.
"You made us do all of this? Just to give up that easily?" Tia groaned.
"Listen Zoey is a lot of… choice words. But she's not a liar," Heather explained with a nonchalant wave of her hand, already walking away with the other two girls.
"I can still hear you!" Zoey called out.
"What was that about?" Felix laughed coming up behind her.
"Your sister is insane," Zoey raised her eyebrows, "But I'm sure that's not news to you,"
"It is, in fact, not news," Felix smirked, "Seriously though, what did they want?"
"Just some conspiracy that you and I are… you know… whatever," Zoey waved the idea off.
"What do you… oh," Felix suddenly realized what she meant, "Huh. How funny," he chuckled nervously.
"Yeah, crazy, right?" Zoey laughed, though she did not make eye contact with him.
"Yeah, soooo nuts," Felix shook his head, "Ha… yep…"
"Okay, well I'm gonna…" Zoey motioned to her leaving the conversation.
"Yeah, um, yeah, me too," Felix nodded, "See you later?"
"Yeah, I'll uh, I'll see you later," Zoey shook her head, hurrying off.
"Wow, that was… something," a voice came from behind Felix, "I didn't mean to eavesdrop but… wow,"
"You saw all of that huh?" Felix chuckled nervously.
"Yes," Emery nodded, "It was very entertaining,"
"Well, I'm glad it brought you some entertainment," Felix chuckled, "It's… it's good to see you, Emery,"
"Yeah, you too. I um, I don't know, I feel bad we didn't talk for a while," Emery spoke awkwardly.
"It's not your fault, I get it," Felix nodded, "I'm sorry I didn't reach out or anything. But Addison told me that you guys are talking a bit? That's cool,"
"Yeah, it's only really been like a day… but it's like no time passed, you know?" Emery shrugged.
"I think that's really dope," Felix nodded, "And I'm glad to hear you're doing okay,"
Before Emery really had a chance to respond, a voice called down from a few rows away.
"Hello, bestie!" Sophie waved.
"Are you talking to me?" Felix questioned.
"No. While you are all my besties, just as we are all God's children, I was speaking to my future in-law," Sophie explained.
"I'm sorry, your what?" Emery was more than taken aback by the statement.
"This seems like something for you two to deal with," Felix laughed, "See ya later,"
"Now that he's gone," Sophie finally reached where Emery was standing, "Let's talk. Bestie to bestie,"
"Um," Emery nodded, "Yeah, okay. What's up?"
"What the heck is going on with Xavier?" Sophie questioned, despite fully knowing.
"In fairness," Emery spoke slowly, "I don't think anyone ever really knows. Xavier included,"
"Aha!" Sophie suddenly called out, pointing a finger in the air, "That was a test. And you passed,"
"Thank… you?" Emery was confused, still trying to process virtually everything Sophie had ever said to her.
"You're so welcome," Sophie grinned, "Now what about Trina? Tread carefully," She warned.
"Trina seems… fine?" Emery shook their head, "I mean, we didn't even really… talk until a few minutes ago. And it was her accusing me of wanting Xavier, which I can not stress enough, I don't. But she seems…um… passionate?"
"Interesting," Sophie nodded, "I'll be sure to take note of that,"
"You… you do that." Emery nodded slowly.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Trina spoke in hushed tones to Chloe, who was about as disinterested as a person could be.
"Who?" Chloe responded blandly, not caring to know the answer.
"Sophie! And Emery!" Trina called out, pointing at them, clearly exasperated.
"Oh," Chloe shrugged.
"Do you really not care?" Trina sighed out, "What if they're conspiring against me? Or Xavier?"
"Then you go ahead and deal with that," Chloe nodded, getting up and ready to walk away.
"But… Chloe!" Trina whined, but was too late, as Chloe had already pulled Leslie over to speak to.
"Hey," Chloe spoke nonchalantly, "What's up?"
"Oh, hey Chloe," Leslie offered a kind smile, "What's going on?"
"Trying to avoid my weirdo brother and his weirdo girlfriend," Chloe shrugged.
"And… why exactly is that?" Leslie laughed, unsure if she truly wanted to know the answer.
"Some conspiracy that while I do find it kinda funny, I would very much like to be excluded from," Chloe sighed out.
"Knowing what I know about Xavier… that is not surprising," Leslie let a small, light chuckle escape her, "I wish you good luck with that,"
"Thanks," Chloe shook her head, not bothering to say goodbye as she walked off.
"Is she okay?" A small voice came from behind Leslie.
"I think so? It's hard to tell with her," Leslie laughed.
"Well, she has recently told me she wants to be friends, so I'm concerned for her anyways," Sawyer explained with a shrug.
"I'm sorry she… what?" Leslie felt as though she learned something new about the people in her glee club every day.
"Yeah, it was pretty random," Sawyer laughed, "But I'm glad! The more friends the merrier!"
"I like that attitude," Leslie smiled, "You're very wise, Sawyer,"
"Nah, I just think that friendship is magic," Sawyer giggled, shrugging, "Speaking of, can you excuse me for a second?"
"Of course," Leslie nodded, wondering where they could possibly be running off to.
"Hi friend!" Sawyer called out.
"Me?" Rowan laughed, pointing to themselves.
"Yes!" Sawyer giggled, "I know we don't actually know each other but I thought I'd come say hi anyways!"
"Well," Rowan grinned, "Much obliged. Hey, you're Sue's god child or something, right?"
"That's right!" Sawyer nodded, "How'd you know?"
"You learn things from being around the same 50 kids every week," Rowan shrugged.
"That's true!" Sawyer agreed, "It's kind of like one big party, huh?"
"Yeah… party," Rowan paused thinking over the word, "Hold that thought, Sawyer,"
Suddenly running off to find their sister, Rowan caught up with her, out of breath.
"Naomi!" Rowan called out, "Party next week?"
"Um, sure," Naomi laughed, sighing out as Rowan ran off, just in time for Tommy to catch up to her.
"Naomi!" He called out in almost the exact tone Rowan had previously, "I've been looking for you everywhere!"
"Damn, that's crazy," Naomi spoke, getting ready to turn and walk off, but stopped once Tommy started speaking once more.
"Listen I need to ask you something," Tommy informed her, a confident smirk on his lips.
"No, I need to tell you something, and I should go first," Naomi sighed out.
Not able to read the room, Tommy assumed they were going to say the same thing, grinning as he announced, "Let's say it at the same time!"
"I really don't think that's a good idea," Naomi tried.
"No, come on it'll be fun… one, two…" Tommy was surprised to see Naomi interrupt him, but was even more surprised by the words she said.
"I think we should stop seeing each other," Naomi suddenly blurted out.
"Hm," Tommy thought for a moment, "That went much more poorly than I was anticipating,"
"Look, I'm sorry," Naomi sighed out, "I just…"
"Don't speak," Tommy took his turn interrupting, "I know what you're saying, so please stop explaining. Don't tell me, 'cause it hurts,"
"Isn't that a song?" Naomi squinted her eyes, confused by the reaction.
"No," Tommy spoke, his tone short, turning on his heels, walking away dramatically.
"Yikes," Simon, who'd been watching the whole thing unfold from a distance, cringed at the outcome.
"It looks um, it looks pretty bad, huh?" Mack, who'd also been watching the whole situation, surprised Simon by coming up to stand next to him, "I'm going to be hearing about this for a while," he chuckled.
"Yeah," Simon laughed, "So will I,"
"Hey!" Tommy suddenly called up to Mack, making both him and Simon jump, "No more crushing on Simon! The Jones' can't be trusted!"
"Tommy!" Mack gasped at the sudden outburst, face turning bright red. Of course, Tommy hadn't noticed as he was already moving on to tell his other friends that he was cutting ties with the Jones'. Simon, however, had very much paid attention to what was just said.
"Mack?" Simon spoke slowly, "Is… um… is what Tommy said true? Are you… you know, crushing on me?"
"Well, I mean, um, I uh," Mack stammered, unable to make eye contact.
"I like you too, Mack," Simon laughed.
"You… do?" Mack was surprised but laughed in turn as he noticed the matching blush on Simon's cheeks.
"I do," Simon nodded, "I really, really, do,"
"Oh," Mack's face lit up. He'd never in his whole life ever had a crush that was reciprocated. This was made obvious by the fact that he simply nodded, saying "Cool,"
But before either of them had a chance to react or say anything further, Rowan had run over to them.
"Yo, party at the Jones' next week!" They called out.
"What?" Simon laughed, confused as this was news to him.
"Party?" Kendall questioned from a distance, where she was, of course, eavesdropping.
"I don't know about parties," Leslie laughed nervously, coming to stand next to her friend.
"Why not?" Kendall tilted her head to the side.
"Crowds and big gatherings just… aren't really my thing," Leslie shrugged.
"Oh come on, it'll be fun," Kendall nudged her friend, "Besides, you know how parties are – especially when they're being planned by a ninth grader. It may not even happen,"
"I guess that's a fair point," Leslie laughed.
"So you'll come?" Kendall raised her eyebrows, already planning on jumping in on the planning side of things just to see how much chaos she could make happen.
"Sure," Leslie nodded, "I'll go,"
"Great!" Kendall grinned, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some matchmaking to do,"
Without waiting a single second more, Kendall made her way over to Sutton, who jumped at the sudden appearance of her.
"Woah," Sutton shook his head, "Don't do that to me. I thought you were Ambrose. I guess it's the whole sharing a face thing, huh?"
"Did you not want to see Ambrose?" Kendall raised a skeptical eyebrow.
"I didn't not want to," Sutton spoke nonchalantly.
"God, you're weird," Kendall laughed, "But that's good. Ambrose needs someone like that,"
"While I, of course, appreciate your blessing, I didn't need it. I wasn't even looking for it. Respectfully," Sutton explained with a slight wave of his hand.
"And that's exactly why you got it," Kendall smirked, "So, why are you speaking to me instead of him?"
"In fairness, you came to me," Sutton raised his eyebrows, "Which does raise the question as to why you're helping me,"
"Because," Kendall sighed out, "I know Ambrose and I aren't… close. But I want to see him happy. And while sometimes it's hard to tell what that even looks like on him, I can tell he feels it when he's with you,"
"How could you possibly know that?" Sutton questioned skeptically.
"It's a psychic twin thing," Kendall waved him off.
"Sick," Sutton nodded.
"Alright, enough dicking around, time to go talk to him," Kendall practically pushed Sutton towards her twin.
"Jeez, watch the uniform, Kendall," Sutton brushed himself off, smiling as he saw Ambrose just mere inches away from him, "Oh, hey, Ambrose, didn't see you there,"
"I somehow doubt that," Ambrose repressed a laugh, "But I am, you know, happy to see you,"
"You see me every day," Sutton quirked one of his eyebrows, "How is this any different?"
"I, erm," Ambrose straightened out his tie, trying to buy himself some time, mentally kicking himself for practically forgetting how to speak, "I was just… very appreciative of your song,"
"Prove it," Sutton smirked.
"I'm… sorry?" Ambrose was somewhat taken aback by Sutton's words.
"I said prove it," Sutton responded, the confident and smug look still on his face.
"I… don't…um…" Ambrose swallowed hard, looking directly at Sutton.
"Ugh, fine, I guess I'll do it," Sutton playfully rolled his eyes.
"Do what?" Ambrose questioned, somehow both afraid and desperate to know what Sutton was referring to. However, he found he did not have to wait very long as one very quick moment later, Sutton gently placed his hands on Ambrose's face, pulling him in for a long, deep kiss.
"Wow," Ambrose was breathless as they finally pulled away.
"Wow," Sutton repeated, the same airiness in his voice as Ambrose's.
"Wow," Oliver's eyes widened, realizing what he had just walked into.
"This is why I can't have nice things, please excuse me," Sutton smirked, giving Ambrose's hand a small squeeze before wandering off to Oliver, "Way to kill the mood, dude!"
"Look, I didn't want to see that just as much as you didn't want me to, maybe more," Oliver shuddered, "But uh, get in there," He laughed.
"You're so gross," Sutton scrunched his nose up, "And that's coming from me,"
"You'll get over it," Oliver smirked, "But hey. Congrats on the whole Ambrose thing,"
"Look," Sutton raised his eyebrows, "Thank you. However, you being nice and caring so much is throwing me off. So I'm going to walk away now,"
"Rude," Oliver noted.
"I can't help but feel like I've seen way too much," Teddy sighed out, speaking to himself as he watched not just the Oliver and Sutton conversation unfold, but Ambrose and Sutton before that as well.
"It's hard not to when we're all stuck in here together," A meek voice came from behind Teddy.
"Rey," He spoke politely, knowing that she was fighting with his sister but also that, in a way, Rey also was like a sister to him, "I heard about you and Cay. How are you holding up?"
"I've um," Rey sighed out, "I've been better. But I uh, I won't um… I won't get you in the middle of it,"
"It's okay," Teddy nodded, "I get it. But I appreciate and respect the fact you're actively not trying to get me involved. But just know that while I, of course, will always have Cay's back, I have yours, too,"
"You mean it?" Rey smiled, a sense of calm washing over her.
"Of course I do," Teddy smiled back kindly, "I also know you two rarely fight but… this will blow over. Trust me,"
"I do," Rey smiled, "Trust you, I mean,"
"Good," Teddy nodded slowly, "That said, I believe someone else is looking to talk to you,"
"Huh?" Rey was confused, turning her head to see Nikki standing just feet away.
"Hi, Rey," Nikki smiled. Glee aside, Nikki and Rey didn't really run in the same circles. They did, however, know each other pretty well as they always remembered their moms begin close when they grew up. But things got different as they got older, especially now that the whole Cay thing was between them.
"Um, hi Nikki," Rey smiled shyly at her old friend, "I uh, I feel like I should maybe apologize to you?"
"For what?" Nikki furrowed her eyebrows, "I mean, I'm sure you can figure out why I'm here to talk to you, but, you can't help how you feel. Assuming that's what you were going to apologize for, I mean,"
"Oh, um, well, thank you for seeing it that way," Rey nodded.
"Of course. I also know you and Cay are fighting but it's important to me that you know there are no, you know, hard feelings or anything like that. I know we don't really talk, but seriously. It's all good," Nikki concluded with a shrug.
"That's actually… really nice to hear," Rey admitted, "Thank you, Nikki,"
"Of course," Nikki smiled, nodding, "Now if you'll excuse me, I've got someone else to make amends with.
And just like that Nikki had walked off, surprising Jude by tapping him on the shoulder.
"Nikki?" Jude was already beyond confused by this interaction, "You're talking to me?"
"There's nobody else here so I must be talking to you," Nikki snickered.
"There's like fifty other people here," Jude pointed out.
"Okay, well, yes," Nikki rolled her eyes, "I'm talking to you. It's been a while, huh?"
"Yeah," Jude raised his eyebrows, "Wonder what possibly could have caused that,"
"Look, dude," Nikki sighed out, "I'm making amends! And while it's not me you have beef with, I just wanted to say I support you,"
"Nikki, I've done a twelve-step program, and that feels a lot like what this is," Jude spoke skeptically, "So you're either also doing one of those programs or there's something in it for you. Which is it?"
"You have such little faith in me," Nikki shook her head, "Honestly, like, I don't know what's going to happen with Leah since we weren't even really… close til after you guys broke up. So I also have no idea what happened between you guys other than what was said yesterday. But I just am trying to separate myself from whatever the hell is going on with her,"
"That… tracks," Jude nodded, "Okay, well, I appreciate the honesty. And I hope that works out for you. And um, thanks for talking to me. I weirdly appreciate it,"
"Of course," Nikki grinned.
"Oh no," Jude groaned, seeing a figure from the corner of his eye.
"You're on your own!" Nikki suddenly called out.
"Jude!" Xavier called, "Bestie, we need to talk right now, immediately!"
"What do you want, Xavier?" Jude deep sighed out.
"This is going to hurt my heart to say, but I need to get it off my chest," Xavier took a deep breath in, "While I at first was flattered by your ginormous crush on me, you seriously need to move on. It's truly coming between Trina and I and it is completely inappropriate and-"
"Xavier," Jude cut him off, "I'm going to tell you something and I really need you to listen to me, okay?"
"Please don't continue to confess your feelings," Xavier pleaded.
"I'm serious. Can you please just shut up and listen for once?" Jude practically begged.
"Fine," Xavier stiffened up, "Go on,"
"I don't have feelings for you," Jude looked directly at Xavier, "I never did,"
"What?!" Xavier gasped, "Well, why not?"
"Because I don't?" Jude couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the question.
"But don't you remember?! You told me you had feelings for someone! I remember!" Xavier called out.
"Yes," Jude nodded, "And I do. For someone who is not you,"
"Huh? This is a lot to process," Xavier shook his head. "Well, who is it?"
As Jude opened his mouth to speak, he was suddenly but unsurprisingly cut off by Xavier who was distracted very quickly.
"Trina!" He called out, running after who he hoped was still his girlfriend.
"Xavier," Trina turned to face him, "You look well,"
"I'm not!" Xavier threw his hands in the air dramatically. "I miss you! I'm tired! Jude doesn't want me! So much is going on in my silly little head!"
"Jude doesn't want you," Trina repeated.
"Yes! He just told me!" Xavier sighed out, "Which means we can be good! Right?"
"Jude doesn't want you, and you're upset about that?" Trina raised her eyebrows.
"I feel like no matter what I say here is wrong. Is this a test?" Xavier tilted his head to the side.
"Look," Trina took her turn sighing out, "I miss you. Of course I do! But this is all very confusing. I think we just need space for a little while,"
"Like… outer?" Xavier asked hopefully.
"Like, away from each other," Trina shook her head, walking away.
"No! Come back! Please!" Xavier fell to the ground pleading before very quickly standing back up and brushing his knees off.
After a few long moments of trying to figure out where to go or what to do, he saw two people talking and figured one of them was his only hope, so he, of course, made way to interrupt their conversation.
"Thank you," Emery smiled to Lex who'd just complimented them on a great performance, "I rarely sing by myself, so it's nice to hear positive feedback,"
"Well you should do it more!" Lex grinned, opening his mouth to speak once more, but not getting the chance to.
"Emery!" Xavier called out, panting, "I need you!"
"Don't say that too loud, Trina might get the wrong idea," Emery smirked, excusing themselves from Lex, "What's up, Xavier?"
"Trina! She hates me!" Xavier shook his head frantically.
"I'm sure she doesn't hate you," Emery tried to calm Xavier down, but knew it probably would not work.
"And you're not gonna believe this," Xavier spoke, ignoring Emery's last sentence, "Jude doesn't even want me anymore,"
"You don't say," Emery mindlessly replied.
"Apparently he has feelings for someone else? But he didn't tell me who! I thought we were friends! I thought he trusted me!" Xavier called out dramatically once more.
It was at this moment that Emery realized that Xavier truly did not have any idea what was going on with anyone other than himself. It was also at the exact moment Emery decided they would indulge him.
"No! You're kidding!" She gasped, "Do you have any leads?"
"No! And despite only finding out a mere few moments ago, it's driving me insane," Xavier groaned.
"More so than the Trina thing?" Emery raised her eyebrows.
"Not at all. But I need something to distract me, and this feels like just the thing!" He nodded decisively.
"Okay, so what's the game plan?" Emery once again feigned ignorance, "We've gotta figure this out somehow,"
"Shh! He's right there!" Xavier suddenly shushed Emery as he pointed to Jude, "We've got to keep this lowkey. But we also need to know!"
"I think we've established that," Emery noted.
"Well, I've already bothered him enough today, which means it's your turn!" Xavier decided, "Go see what information you can gather from him,"
"I'll do what I can," Emery nodded seriously, repressing a laugh as they found their way to where Jude was standing, "Hey, I need a favor," Emery spoke suddenly to him.
"What's up?" Jude was confused, and somewhat surprised by how Emery seemed to just appear in front of him.
"So Xavier and I were talking," Emery started slowly.
"What? That's crazy. Shocking even. I'm shocked," Jude smirked.
"Shut up," Emery laughed, "So, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted,"
"Rudely?" Jude tilted his head to the side, "I don't know about that,"
"Are you done?" Emery shook her head, a small dry chuckle following.
"We'll see," Jude shrugged, "What were you and Xavier talking about?"
"Well, Xavier had just informed me that you, in fact, do not have feelings for him. He was very upset, as I'm sure you can imagine. But then, he informed me that you do have feelings for someone else," Emery began to explain.
"All of this is true," Jude raised his eyebrows, "So what's the favor?"
"Well, he has no idea who the person in question could possibly be. I, of course, do because Sophie was so kind and informed me," Emery smirked, "But Xavier doesn't know that I know. So he sent me over here to get information. So, I guess the favor is, pretend like we're talking about it, but pretend that I have no clue,"
"Hm," Jude paused, "I don't know if I can do that. Not after the performance the 'person in question' gave, which I can assume was about me?"
"You're smarter than you look," Emery teased, nudging him, "Now I'm going back to Xavier, but I trust you can do this one teeny little favor for me,"
"I'll do my best," Jude paused, finally saying what was on his mind just as Emery was getting ready to turn away, "You know, if Xavier wasn't staring us down, I would have kissed you,"
"Noted," Emery smiled, turning quickly to hide the blush creeping onto her cheeks.
"Are they… you know… together?" Ingrid surprised Kate by coming up to her suddenly.
"Emery and Jude?" Kate questioned, "Not… yet. But soon, I think. Why?"
"Just curious," Ingrid shrugged, "And you and Zach?"
"What about Zach and I?" Kate laughed.
"How did… you know, all of that unfold?" Ingrid continued to question curiously.
"We're… really good, actually," Kate nodded, "I'd say stronger than before, if that's even possible,"
"Aww," Ingrid cooed, "I'm really glad to hear it. You know, you were truly the first person to show me any real amount of kindness in glee, so I'm just happy to see you happy,"
"Aw, thank you Ingrid!" Kate smiled, surprised when Ingrid pulled her into a hug, holding on for maybe just a few seconds too long.
"I'm sorry… blonde person?" Bryce suddenly spoke to Ingrid, "I need to talk to Kate. It is incredibly important."
"Sure," Ingrid couldn't help but laugh, as she walked off.
"Hi, Bryce," Kate greeted him kindly, "What's up?"
"I need to talk to you about Zach," Bryce nodded several times in a row.
"Oh?" Was Kate's only response.
"Please forgive him… I know he messed up, but he's really sorry and I just think that-"
"Bryce," Kate laughed, cutting him off, "We're all good. We already talked it out,"
"You did?" Bryce tilted his head to the side. "Oh. That's news to me,"
"We did," Kate nodded, though remained smiling, "Though I do really appreciate you coming and trying to help anyways. You're a good friend. Zach is lucky to have you,"
"Aww, thanks Kate," Bryce grinned before jumping over a row of seats, "Did you hear that Zach? You're lucky to have me!"
"Of course I am!" Zach shouted back at his friend, the two meeting each other halfway, "Is that what you and Kate were talking about?"
"Well, at first, I was going to try to fix your problems. But she told me you already did? Proud of you buddy!" Bryce grinned, slapping Zach's back so hard it nearly knocked the wind out of him.
"Oof," Zach coughed, "Love the strength, but uh, little softer next time?"
"You got it," Bryce grinned once more, "Have you seen your brother by the way?"
"No, I've been looking for him too!" Zach called out exasperated.
"Wait, hold on, there he is!" Bryce pointed to Oscar on the far end of the room, "I'll be right back!"
On his way to try to find Oscar, Bryce knocked someone over, barely noticing them as he was, of course, a man on a mission.
"Oh shit," He shook his head, extending his hand to help her up, "I'm so sorry. You're uh… real short,"
"I'm barely below average height," Juliet lied, brushing herself off and ignoring Bryce's hand, "You're very tall. That is your problem, not mine,"
"You're right," Bryce nodded, "I am real sorry, though. I was just trying to get to my friend Oscar and I wasn't paying attention and-"
"I don't care," Juliet stuck her nose up, "Wait. Did you say Oscar?"
"Yeah! He's just a little guy," Bryce grinned.
"I'm aware," Juliet nodded slowly, "I did not realize he was friends with someone so… chaotic,"
"Well, it's a really fun story actually! Me and Zach used to be best friends but then Zach went to the Warblers and-"
"I don't need any further explanation," Juliet cut him off once more. "You could have just said Zach. I'm very familiar with both Nixon's."
"Oh, sweet! Yeah, Zach's great. So is Oscar!" Bryce nodded again.
"I was hoping you weren't talking about me," Oscar slowly but surely made his way into the conversation, nervous about how Juliet would react to Bryce.
"We're only saying good things," Bryce assured his friend.
"I'm leaving. I'll see you later, Oscar," Juliet waved her hand, blatantly ignoring Bryce.
"Bye! I'm Bryce by the way!" He called out despite her not paying any attention to him.
"Weird," Oscar thought out loud.
"I've been looking all over for you!" Bryce suddenly turned his full attention back to Oscar, "Have you seen Kyla yet?"
"I've been pulled in so many different directions since the performances ended, I haven't had a chance to speak to her," Oscar explained.
"Well, there she is! Now's your chance, dude!" Bryce grinned, "I won't even look!"
"Why would you…" Oscar began to ask, but shook his head when he saw Bryce cover his eyes with his hands, "Never mind,"
"Hey," Kyla greeted Oscar with a warm smile when she saw him make his way down to her, "I um, I was hoping to get to talk to you,"
"Me too," Oscar nodded slowly, "I um, I just… I obviously wanted to talk to you about everything and I just… well I'm not great with words, but I really like you. Which I'm sure by this point you know," He finished with a small, awkward laugh.
"I do know," Kyla let out a similar, awkward laugh, "I um, I really like you too, you know,"
"I do know that. Now," Oscar grinned, "I just… am unsure of how to go about anything? Feelings wise? I've never um… even really held hands with someone before you. And I just don't want to mess anything up…" He trailed off.
"You won't," Kyla shook her head.
"How do you know?" Oscar sighed out, unsurprised that he was already down on himself. However, before he really had time to even process it, Kyla had taken his hand, pulling him slightly closer to her before placing a gentle but long kiss on his lips.
"Just trust me," She grinned, her voice barely above a whisper as she pulled away.
"Finally!" Zach and Bryce called out in unison, both pumping both of their fists in the air.
Before Oscar or Kyla even really had a chance to react, the auditorium door opened, revealing Marley and Will who'd finally made their way back in.
"Alright everyone," Will made sure to speak loudly and quickly as every set of eyes in the auditorium turned to face him, "That's all been… handled. And we've still got the auditorium space and the okay to perform. That said, it's been a long day, so thank you for your patience, but you're all okay to go home."
"But," Naomi surprised Will, along with the other teachers in the room by speaking up, "There's still a song we haven't done,"
"Naomi, it's awesome that you prepared another song," Marley spoke, "But it's unfair if you get to perform twice, especially since I'm sure we're all tired,"
"Not just Naomi," Oliver took his turn speaking up.
"Yeah!" Zach added on, "We uh, we all sort of threw something together,"
"All of you?" Trent was surprised, "All fifty of you?"
"Yes," Sydney clarified, "Even the weird newbies,"
"Well, then… by all means," Unique allowed the kids to go step on the stage.
"So this is sort of something we threw together for each other… but also for you guys," Naomi explained with a smile as the music began, all fifty kids humming and creating noises together as the song started.
As the song began to pick up, all five teachers recognized it, Mr. Schue surprised to find a lump in his throat as he thought back to when he first started teaching glee.
"You're not alone," Dana sang out happily, being the first to walk to the front of the stage.
"Together we stand," Tommy sang next, walking over to Dana and wrapping an arm around them.
On the other side of the stage, Teddy walked out, Cay not far behind.
"I'll be by your side," Teddy sang out, singing to his sister.
"You know I'll take your hand," Cay smiled as she sang, leaning into Teddy slightly.
The four on stage took a small step back, just as Delia and Naomi now walked towards the front, Delia taking the next line.
"When it gets cold," She sang, turning to face Naomi.
"And it feels like the end," Naomi sang out, smiling as she watched Simon come across the stage, Rey directly beside him.
"There's no place to go," Simon sang, arms linked with Rey.
"You know I won't give in," Rey called out.
All eight kids now spaced across the stage; they all took a look at each other. While, of course, there was some tension between a few of them, nobody seemed to notice or mind as all eight sang out together. "No, I won't give in,"
"Keep holding on," The entire group of fifty all sang together as Audrey made her way to the front.
"'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through," Audrey sang out beautifully, thinking of her mother as this was a song Quinn used to sing to Audrey when she was younger.
"Just stay strong," The group sang together once more.
"'Cause you know I'm here for you, I'm here for you," Savannah smiled, coming to stand next to Audrey, her voice loud and beautiful as she belted out.
"There's nothing you can say," Lex called out, winking at Audrey as he made his presence known, though we walked with Finley to the other side of the stage as he harmonized.
"Nothing you can do," Finley sang, Lex taking his turn to harmonize.
Behind them, Rowan and Hazel also appeared, Hazel and Rowan calling out beautifully together, "There's no other way when it comes to the truth,"
"So keep holding on," The entire group on the stage singing together once more, though the six front and center were clearly the ones carrying the line.
"'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through," All six sang together, turning as they made room for the next group to come out.
"So far away," Kate smiled, walking perfectly in step with Ingrid as she sang her line out flawlessly.
"I wish you were here," Ingrid sang, for the first time ever in front of these people, but sounded surprisingly pleasant.
"Before it's too late," Zach looked to Kate and smiled as he did his best to follow the main melody, only turning back to the audience as Oliver who was beside him nudged him.
"This could all disappear," Oliver sang out, smiling at his mom in the audience.
"Before the doors close," Juliet, who much like Ingrid was making her big singing debut, sang out, her voice high but pretty.
"And it comes to an end," Oscar smiled as he walked in time with his friend, smiling even wider as he caught glimpse of Kyla and Bryce walking to their position on the stage.
"With you by my side," Kyla smiled back at Oscar as she sang the words out.
"I will fight and defend," Bryce practically shouted the words out, but in a way that was almost endearing.
"I'll fight and defend yeah, yeah," The eight front and center all sang out loud and proud before stepping out of the way for the next few people to come through.
"Keep holding on," The whole group sang out once again, watching Jude and Xavier stand in the direct middle of the stage.
"'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through," Xavier sang out dramatically, though it still sounded incredible.
"Just stay strong," The group behind them once again called out.
"'Cause you know I'm here for you, I'm here for you," Jude sang out, nudging Xavier slightly.
"There's nothing you can say," Trina sang out, ignoring Xavier at all costs, despite walking with Chloe to stand somewhat beside him, Chloe surprisingly harmonizing with her pretty well.
"Nothing you can do," Chloe continued to surprise the audience by calling out the words beautifully, Trina now harmonizing as she watched Sophie and Emery appear on the other side of Jude and Xavier.
"There's no other way when it comes to the truth," The two sang out together, sharing a small smile with each other and the other four on stage.
"So keep holding on," The whole group sang out loudly.
"'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through," The six at front sang before splitting down the middle, revealing Ambrose and Kendall.
"Hear me when I say when I say I'll believe," The twins sang together, smiling and silently acknowledging that this was the first time they'd sang together since the group challenge when they'd met for the first time.
"Nothing's gonna change, nothing's gonna change destiny," Nikki and Sutton surprised all the teachers, but specifically their mother as they now appeared on stage, singing together for the first time ever.
"Whatever's meant to be will work out perfectly," The four belted out in a four part harmony, Ambrose and Sutton sharing a small smile.
While the big group all sang the whole chorus, it was clear that a few pairs had standout vocals. This was first evident by Tia and Mia coming out and singing together.
"Keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through we'll make it through,"
The two sang perfectly in sync, sharing a smile with Heather and Felix who appeared beside them, belting out the next part of the chorus.
"Just stay strong
'Cause you know I'm here for you, I'm here for you,"
As the two siblings didn't sound quite as good as Tia and Mia (for which Heather was clearly to blame), they did sound surprisingly okay. The most surprising thing though, was how great Addison and Zoey sounded together as they sang out next in harmony.
"There's nothing you can say
Nothing you can do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth,"
Sharing a small and surprising smile with each other, all six on stage, turned, reluctantly, letting more people have their turn.
"So keep holding on," Leslie and Sawyer high-fived as they sang together, also surprised by the wonderful way their voices meshed.
"'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through," Anthony and Flora sang out together, smiling and holding hands, which to everyone but Will seemed absolutely adorable, soon moving out of the way for four Warblers to stand together.
"Keep holding on, keep holding on" Eric and Michael, sang together louder and more powerfully than either knew they were capable of.
"There's nothing you can say, nothing you can do," Bob and Frank who'd walked on with Eric and Michael sang out with a similar power. Stepping to the side slightly, Mack and Isaac now made their way front and center.
"There's no other way, when it comes to the truth," They sang, smiling and exchanging a small glance, them, along with the four other boys now moving out of the way for the grand finale.
As the stage was cleared for them, Steven and Sydney smiled to each other as they walked to the end, making it very clear why they were saved for last as they absolutely belted the crap out of the last few lines, their harmonies, power and control perfect as the song wrapped up.
"So keep, keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through,"
Surprising Steven, Sydney gave him a small hug as the song finished, all the other kids now coming to join them at the front of the stage, taking a bow, as all five teachers wiped proud tears from their eyes.
FRIDAY EVENING
"How was glee today?" Madison smiled to her children as they walked in the door.
"Long as hell," Zoey spoke blandly.
"Watch your language, please," Madison raised her eyebrows.
"Hell is a bad word now?" Addison's eyebrows furrowed together.
"Addison, please. That's enough. Now tell me, how was your day?" Madison smiled to her son.
"You don't care about my day?" Zoey spoke quietly. "Shocking,"
"Of course, I do," Madison sighed out, looking at Zoey but still watching Addison out of the corner of her eye, "I wish you'd quit with this narrative,"
"Then why didn't you ask?" Zoey tested her mother.
"I'm gonna… go," Addison spoke slowly.
"Don't you dare," Madison pointed a finger at him.
"What if I wanted to go, huh? Would you be mad at me for that?" Zoey raised her voice slightly.
"Zoey, please," Madison begged, "Can't we just drop it?"
"I just don't fucking get you!" Zoey now raised her voice greatly, "How are you going to be so far up his ass but not tell him about the divorce? Or tell him who you're dating and so god damn obsessed with these days?"
"Zoey! That's enough! Go to your room!" Madison demanded.
"Wait," Addison spoke before anyone else had the chance, "These days? Like… longer than yesterday? And… Zoey… you know who it is?"
While both Madison and Zoey exchanged a look, there was a long silence before anyone spoke again, Zoey finally being the one to break the silence. "Either you tell him or I do,"
