Chapter 13: Forte, Dolce

*Momo POV*

After the two had finished dinner and cleaned up they of course fell into their usual routine.

The coffee table was covered with Momo's notes, drawings, games, and refreshments, while Izumi milled about in the background and the creation girl put her controller down before scribbling on one of her current pages. The pair continued on for a while until Momo heard the greenette coming up behind her and the black haired girl made some room on the low table for her.

"Not all designs today," the light girl noted, taking a seat beside Momo, and putting down her own cup of tea while thoughtfully sweeping her gaze over the pages.

"I wrote down a lot of good food spots that Fatgum introduced me to," the creation girl showed off while handing the list over to her friend. "I even got to learn some cooking tips," Momo recalled pleasantly, wondering if she should cook something for Izumi tomorrow, and the light girl gave a chuckle.

"My, we should make our way out their sometime then," the greenette noted, completely welcome to the idea.

"Did you find more places you were interested in too?" the creator inquired, knowing how her light friend tended to regularly add to her notebook of activities, and Izumi gave a brief hum.

"I've heard Kanagawa has many things to do," she informed and Momo mulled the area over.

"It's a bit of a trip but I'm sure it'd be worth it," the black haired girl agreed since Izumi always picked enjoyable things but the greenette suddenly gained her more amused look.

"For the food?" she had to wonder while Momo huffed a little from her response.

"Not just the food!" the creation girl denied, refuting the claim which only made the other girl's smile perk. "I'm sure they have more," Momo assured and she gave the location a search on her phone, "see, they have aquariums and different kinds of parks," the black haired girl shared with a point of her finger, leaning against her friend, but Izumi scrolled the screen a bit.

"Their beef hotpot appears to be very popular," the light girl directed, pointing right at a picture of said food, and Momo's eyes locked onto the dishes present.

"Same with their curry and wagyu," she realized, already thinking about looking into restaurants and such there, before coming to. "You tricked me again," Momo groaned, a tinge embarrassed about how easily and how often she was tempted by food, yet Izumi just softly laughed.

"Should we go this summer?" the greenette supplied, certainly offering in earnest, and Momo gave it a brief thought.

"How about after the summer training camp?" the creation girl added on and Izumi nodded.

"What a nice idea," the light girl replied, pleased with their plan, and Momo gave her own soft smile.

They went back and forth for a moment more before Izumi went to refill their drinks and the creation girl focused back on her own things while letting her mind wander about.

It wasn't really worth mentioning but Momo figured that it was Izumi who took care of the villains in Hosu so with that she wasn't too worried about upcoming incidents. Even if she was then Izumi would likely just give a little hand and solve the issues. Momo also knew that the reason that the greenette did so wasn't by her own choice but rather that the creation girl had brought it up last time. If the light girl dealt with something it was either in front of her or at the words of someone else. It would be a bit scary for Momo to consider if it was anyone but Izumi but she trusted and knew her well enough to be perfectly at ease.

"By the way," Momo piped back up as the greenette returned, "I'm hoping I'll be able to use some of my new gear in upcoming exercises or tests."

"Any ones in particular?" Izumi asked, skimming the pages that had Momo's nearly completed gear, while the creator pondered on the subject.

"I'm hoping to at least be able to start using parts from the mech suit," the black haired girl reasoned, understanding that that was the safest bet. "I'll most likely use one or both of the gauntlets so I have the cables," Momo decided with a hum, "I'd be nice to try it out as a whole eventually but it does limit my quirk use so I'd like to become more familiar with the pieces of the suit individually and grow my skills more before doing that."

Much as Momo enjoyed the mech suit, it did cover her entire body so she couldn't exactly use her quirk with it on. Sure she had all the gear and features that came with it but her quirk was still what she was most familiar and confident with.

"I see," the light girl returned but gave her a reassuring look. "It will come soon then, you've been working hard," she reminded and Momo felt a little bashful from praise.

"Yeah, adding the extra exercise has been tough but rewarding," the creation girl reasoned, laughing a little to herself.

"Hm," Izumi hummed while eyeing her for a moment, "right, you look very good," the greenette complimented and Momo blushed a little while saying her thanks.

It was only starting to show more recently but the creation girl had put on a some muscle from the training she had been doing to use her new weapons. Between that, her usual exercise, and her increase in knowledge about food she had become stronger and more fit overall. It was nice to receive the compliment and reassuring that others could notice her effort so she smiled to herself happily. Momo eventually came down from her elation and thought back to Izumi's little display for the class as well as what the future would bring them.

"Izumi," Momo brought up quietly, her friend listening beside her patiently. "Next test or exercise we have," she continued, "do you mind not trying much?"

"Oh?" the greenette called with a tilt of her head, "that's an interesting request," she observed and Momo balked a little.

"I still want you to pass of course!" she hurriedly assured, "but I'm just curious I suppose."

Momo knew that it was a bit of a weird, maybe even unreasonable, request and the black haired girl also understood that she asked for a selfish reason but she thought that perhaps it would help solve an issue she was having. The creation girl probably shouldn't have been thinking so hard about this, especially after saying it, but she simply couldn't help how her thoughts escaped her and went off on their own. Maybe she should-

"Alright then," Izumi agreed plainly, never losing her tone, but Momo looked over to her.

"Don't you want to know-" she began but found the taste of chocolate in her mouth instead.

"Peanut butter right?" the greenette smiled to her as Momo nodded while reluctantly but still eating.

"That's unfair," she told the light girl after finishing but the greenette's expression eased, her eyes just barely softening.

"I don't need to know," Izumi told her immediately, wiping away any useless worries, "because you asked me to help you with something."

"Okay," Momo replied back, honestly a bit lost for words, but she felt warm inside.

Just how much trust did Izumi place in her?

The light girl again got up to do something and the creation girl couldn't help the silly smile that wouldn't leave her lips when she was out of the greenette's sight. Izumi began quietly singing something behind her so she just closed her eyes and listened.

The thing that Momo wanted to learn from her request had already been solved.

*All Might POV*

Was he curious or was it simply a needless worry?

As the foundational hero studies teacher he of course was witness to the little confrontation between young Bakugo, Midoriya, and Todoroki as well as the subsequent response of the light girl to their words. The two boys looked quite frustrated and bitter from Midoriya's abilities and the class as a whole seemed to lose spirit but what could he say when it was exactly what they asked for? The greenette had simply obliged the request of giving more effort and she appeared to have no obvious feelings, positive or negative, to what followed.

"It's quite ridiculous to change the rules because of a single student but said student is already quite ridiculous herself isn't she?" Nezu questioned back to him but it was clear that the principal was intrigued by recent and upcoming events.

The change in test format had come up from a few things but chief among them was better preparation for any possible incidents, especially now that All For One was bound to make a move in response to the loss of Shigaraki and Kurogiri, as well as better challenging the students while also moving past the effects of Bakguo and Todoroki's spat with Midoriya. The teachers of course had some preliminary discussions about the changes but right now Nezu had asked to speak with him separately since it was Toshinori who brought the idea up.

"I don't believe any of the hero staff can do anything about Midoriya," Nezu brought up logically, his eyes focused but looking at the blonde who coughed a little.

"Perhaps Aizawa would be able figure something out?" Toshinori reasoned hopefully. "His planning, skills, quirk, and knowledge as 1-A's homeroom teacher may be enough," the hero listed out but Nezu put a paw up and shook his head.

"Can Aizawa capture someone who moves at the speed of light and can blind him before he can react?" the principal raised back, "we'd have to make the students start the test in front of the teacher they're against and even then Aizawa would need to render Midoriya unconscious before she can react to stop her."

"Well..." Toshinori began but blanked on any real solution as he noticed that Nezu had a sort of gleam in his eye like he just found something amusing.

"You seem adamant about this so I take it you're fine with volunteering to test Midoriya?" he wondered curiously and all Toshinori could do was take the offer up.

"Perhaps it can't be helped," the blonde hero nodded, understanding that the responsibility was with him since he first brought it up, and Nezu gave him a satisfied look.

"So what would you prefer to change Yagi-sensei?" the principal wondered. "Should both students need to escape instead of one?" he asked with the raise of one paw but then put up the other, "or should we secretly not handicap you?"

-break-

Their discussion had ended smoothly with Toshinori deciding he'd forgo the handicap.

He was confident enough in his own abilities to be able to hold back on his attacks but he'd need to be able to make use of his speed to test Midoriya. The students would come up on the exam quicker than they'd realize but they still hadn't quite shaken off the event with the greenette. It was kept quiet but it was still there slightly beneath the surface and ready to come to the forefront whenever.

Besides his work as a teacher, Toshinori also had to think of what would come with All for One's loss of Shigaraki. How would the man's plan change and how sooner or later would he act?

This was no time to relax.

*Momo POV*

Momo was taking things easy with Izumi.

Well, perhaps it was more accurate to say that she was the one doing what she wanted while the greenette went along with her whim. Since both of them had shared activities they were each looking into, and with it being summer, the topic of summer festivals had come up and Momo learned that Izumi had surprisingly never worn a yukata. That in mind, the creation girl had taken it upon herself to have the light girl try out and be fitted for one at her home even if it partially came up from the desire of Momo wanting to see her friend wearing a yukata. However, things were not going exactly as the black haired girl had hoped.

Despite all the different yukata that Momo had the light girl try on she somehow looked best in a plain jinbei. She had found Izumi to look great in all of the yukata that she made the light girl wear but the greenette's image felt more complete when instead wearing something more casual. Really, it was a bit of a frustrating feeling to say the least.

It wasn't as if Momo's green haired friend couldn't pull off a more formal outfit, as her hero costume was essentially just a suit, but she really wanted to see Izumi in a larger variety of clothes. Eventually a soft chuckle reached the creation girl's ears through her stewing and Momo turned over to her light friend who had a curious yet amused look.

"You're very excited Momo," the green haired girl commented playfully and she snapped back to reality.

Apparently Momo had gotten lost in her own fervor and only now were her proper thoughts returning to her as her face formed a blush. Looking at things with a slight twist on the perspective, the creation girl was able to play dress up with the person she liked and she had to chance to see Izumi in more than just a yukata. The thought sat in her mind for a bit and a different sort of giddiness reared its head. Shouldn't she...have a little more fun?

"Izumi is it alright if I have you try on some other clothes too?" she requested, still wanting to be respectful of the greenette's decision, and the light girl nodded.

"Go ahead, it's enjoyable for me too," her friend replied and Momo smiled warmly.

Of course Izumi had caught onto her intentions immediately and both eased her mind while also allowing the creation girl to do what she wanted. Momo shared a glance with the light girl's soft gaze and her own eyes eased in response.

"I'll have fun to my heart's content then."

-break-

Momo spent most of the evening picking outfits for Izumi but eventually the light girl had to make her way home.

The black haired creator even tried on a few matching outfits herself to add onto the fun and she sighed with content. Momo had already prepared for bed but she wasn't quite tired and a new thought was now sitting with her instead. Slowly trailing her way through the halls, the creation girl eventually found the room that she was looking for and took a seat at the piano. After having spent so much time with Izumi, Momo was bound to have started picking up some of the light girl's habits for herself.

Her green haired friend often hummed or sang little tunes, citing that it was a liberating feeling, and Momo supposed that she was curious about trying it for herself. The creation girl knew decently well how to play a piano so Momo decided to give it a shot since it was available to her. Re-familiarizing herself with the keys for a moment, the black haired girl sat down and hummed out one of Izumi's tunes while also trying to remember the lyrics as well. She practiced just the instrumentals for a while until she was satisfied that it was correct and then Momo recited the lyrics in her head while matching it up to her playing. The creation girl's voice started at only above a whisper but before she knew it Momo was singing with what felt like her entire being.

Over and over Momo continued singing the song, becoming more confident each time, and eventually she found herself playfully changing the ways she sang each part. The black haired girl's voice grew and even stood above the sounds of the piano as she immersed herself in a world of her own. Momo's imagination played along too and suddenly she was off on a journey that filled her heart with so much joy that she even began laughing as she sang some parts.

Momo loved this! She really loved this!

Fiddling with her phone after her most recent round, the creation girl swiftly set it up to record and got right back to it. She wasn't even hesitant when she listened back to it and instead found that she only wanted to share the fun she had just had. Not missing a beat, the black haired girl sent it to the one person that she'd want to share this happiness with the most.

Momo waited patiently for a response to her recording but what she received was far greater than she could have imagined. Izumi had sent two files back to her, one of them a recording of the greenette's version of the song but using a violin, and the second one that combined both their versions. Momo could quite draw well now so maybe she'd do a piece of them to go along with the song. She tried thinking of something to reply back with but instead Momo found herself staring at the contact photo of Izumi as the seconds and then minutes passed her.

"I like you," Momo whispered, smiling softly.

This would satisfy her for now.

Notes and Stuff

In music, Forte is to do something loudly while Dolce means to do something sweetly or softly.

The song I had in mind when Momo sang is actually the Ado version of Bink's sake while the one with both of them would be a mix of both Ado and Brook's versions of the song.

Mainly just Momo and Izumi and their daily stuff but of course I put a little of the things happening around and in the background of them as well as setting up both their trips and other events to come that they're simply a part of.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
