A few days after the Opera with the Chancellor, Lirlia remained most of the time in the Temple. She became friends with Padre after she went to the Senate Building with Anakin. She was sitting now on Padme's couch, checking her pouch when she realized something.
"Damnit." Lirlia whispered.
"Is something wrong, Lirlia?" Padme asked, noting her hissing.
"Oh! It's nothing. Just a small problem that I just realized." Lirlia answered, not expecting to be heard.
"What is it?" Palme asked, sitting beside the woman over the couch.
"It's... about my ammo." Lirlia explained. "You see, most of my ammo comes from berries and seeds. And I just realized that I'll run low of both ammo and seeds to create more."
"What was the usual solution you used to do?"
"Plant one, and in a day or two or three, there'll be more seeds or berries for me to use. I bring those kind of plants during hunts, so I wouldn't have to return to the camp each time I'm low at ammo."
Padre listened to her, and immediately an idea came to her. "Why not seeding what you need over Naboo? It has fertile grounds, and the weather could be the perfect one for your seeds to grow. Why not try there?"
Lirlia thought for a moment. "Would be ok if I do that? I mean, I appreciate it. Also, I don't want anyone trying to steal them or something. These are the last ones that I have." She said.
"Don't worry. I have a private ground there. I was about to go there for a few days myself. Why don't you come with me?"
Lirlia thought for a moment before smiling and nodding. "Ok. I'll go with you. Thanks." She said.
Padre then ordered her ship to be ready, and after an hour or so, both of them made their travel to Naboo. During the travel, Padme taught Lirlia how to play Sabacc.
"So... I use this card and my points go near 23..." Lirlia said while looking her cards.
"But if I do this, I can beat you as well." Padme said.
Lirlia watched how Padme beat her, still trying to understand how. "I cannot get it. It's harder than it seems." Lirlia sighed.
Padme smiled and sat beside Lirlia. "Tell me what kind of games do you play back in your home."
"Well... usually between Hunters we'd do pulses. We got into a barrel, we grab our hands and we'd try to beat each other at arm wrestling."
"Really? That's all?"
"Or we could hang around at the thermal water in the gathering hub. It depends on what you feel to do."
"I see."
"Yeah."
They then continued playing sabacc, with Lirlia winning a few times. When they arrived at Naboo, Padme showed Lirlia around the castle. She was impressed by everything there. Padme also showed her a place to plant her seeds, which Lirlia immediately did.
After that, Padme showed her a room for her to stay.
"Hey, Lirlia, I was thinking, would you want to go to the market?" Padme asked after an hour or two of their arrival.
Lirlia's face was adorned with a smile and nodded.
They arrived at the market, and there was so much to see. Lirlia got distracted by different things; jewelry, clothes, technology, and food. She was easily impressed by all the things she's seen. Flying vehicles, friendly robots unlike the droids from Shili. People there was friendly as well, explaining in simple ways to her every time she asks about something she doesn't understand. It was afternoon after that, and they returned to Padme's apartment. They decided to play a bit of Sabacc before sleep.
"Never thought that I'd see another place so peaceful and full of life." Lirlia said, watching her cards.
"I'm glad that you had a great time, Lirlia. Was your home like this too?" Padme said.
"In a sense, yeah. There were usually people walking around carrying objects and Hunters to do the missions, like me. And scholars to gather information about monsters and the fields and such. It was peaceful."
"I'd really love to visiting your home sometime." Padme said, placing a card on the table.
"I'd like to bring you as well. But I don't know how to return yet. Master Yoda says that the Force does not give the answers we seek. We must seek it ourselves." Lirlia placed a card on the table, making Padme to do a tsk sound.
"I hope that you find a way." Padme said, placing yet another card. She smiled. "I guess that I'd won."
Lirlia looked from her cards to the table. "Damn. I thought that I had you, Padme." She said with a smile.
Padme chuckled. "Well, you did give me a hard time, but I managed."
Lirlia chucked and yawned. "I guess that it's sleep time."
"Yeah. You're right." Padme said looking to the hour. "Well, good night, Lirlia." She said as she stood. Lirlia stood as well.
"Night. Thanks for today." She said.
"Oh, we are not finished, though. I will show you something tomorrow."
"Can't wait for it. Thanks, Padme. Good night." Lirlia said. Both women hugged each other and each went to their rooms. At her room Lirlia decided to take a shower, so she stripped of her clothes and went to the bathroom. There, she took a quick hot shower before exiting and placing on her underwear. She then put her weapon bellow the blankets and her clothes on her side and turned off the lights to go to sleep.
The next day, they went to see the Gungan. While they were a bit apprehensive about Lirlia carrying around her gun, Padme told them to not worry. The Gungan showed Lirlia their habits, their food and their own weapons for her to try. They then showed her their fun, and actually she had a great time. Both of them then went back to the market and bought some other things. They then walked upon a crowd gathered and a man shouting.
"Come! Come! Try your mind with these riddles!" He said.
"That looks fun. May we go?" Padme said. Lirlia shrugged and smiled, both of them going there. Once there, the man started saying the riddles.
"The first one is rather easy, and it goes like this: Can you name three consecutive days without saying the days of the week?" He said.
At that, every person started to think hard. Even Padme, who put a hand on her chin.
"If you believe that you have the answer, step in and tell your answer." The man said.
"Hmm... if this is an easy one, I cannot imagine the rest. What are your thoughts Lirlia?" Padme said but soon fell quiet when she saw that Lirlia was not with her. "Lirlia?" She asked again.
"Ahh! A lovely lady has come to tell us her answer. Tell me, lady, what is your answer?" The man said to Lirlia, whom now Padme realized that she went to the stage.
"My answer is Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." She answered.
"Correct! My, you found it quite fast." He said. Lirlia smiled and shrugged before stepping down.
"Ok! So, next one is..."
They continued on the riddles game for a bit, with Lirlia catching some of them and failing some. The difficulty was suddenly increased when Lirlia offered a riddle of her own.
"I'd like to say a riddle of mine. One that took me a year to guess." She said.
"Oooh... I see, well then, Lady, what's your riddle? We'd like to hear I and see if someone here can solve it."
She stood and cleared her throat before speaking.
"To all things and men I appertain,
and yet by some am shunned and distained.
Fondle me and ogle me til you're insane,
but no blow can harm me, cause me pain.
Children delight in me, elders take fright.
Fair maids rejoice and spin.
Cry and I weep, yawn and I sleep.
Smile, and I too shall grin.
What am I?" She said the end slowly. The faces of the crowd were full of concentration, thinking hard to solve the riddle. Lirlia laughed and said. "It's alright if you don't catch it. It's a rather difficult one."
"That, it is. Oh my, I've read and solved different riddles, but this one beats them all. Do you know the answer?"
Lirlia nodded. "I do, and the riddle will make sense to you once I say it."
"Hmm... children delight in me, and elders take fright... maids rejoice and spin... what can all of that mean?" The man said.
"Where did you read it?" A man said from the crowd.
"In a book, a few years ago, given to me by a friend." Lirlia answered.
Padme too was having trouble trying to solve the riddle. She thought hard, as the crowd. This lasted for at least half an hour when people gave up.
"The answer that I reached is the Reflection." She said. The crowd's eyes widen in realization.
"It all makes sense." The man said. "It really does. Reflection is to all, yet you cannot punch it nor cause it harm. Children see themselves in the mirror, while elders don't want to see their faces. Maids and beautiful females rejoice in their beauty." The man said. "Quite hard your riddle. Didn't find the answer to it myself." He said.
"It was fun." Lirlia said. "I should return home now. It was a pleasure staying here." She said.
"The pleasure is all mine! Thanks for coming by." Lirlia then stepped down from the stage and went to where Padme was.
"Quite the riddle you told there." Padme said as both of them started to return to the apartment.
"Yeah. Took me that time to get the answer of it."
"By the way. I got a message from one of the maids. Your seeds have already grown."
"Already? It's been only two days since we planted them." Lirlia said as they walked back to the apartment.
"Well, you can see them if you want."
"Not that I don't mind them growing this fast, is just that in my home, some take longer to fully grow." Lirlia said.
"Well, we can make leave some of the seeds here and you take what you need for battle." Padme said.
"How can know when they are ready?"
"I can give you a call or tell the Council I want to speak with you. And don't worry, it'll be our secret."
Lirlia smiled. "Ok, thanks."
They went back to them apartment and Lirlia immediately asked access to her seeds. She grabbed what she may need and what she can leave on her room at the Jedi Temple. Night came and both went to sleep.
The next day, Padme and Lirlia were at the transport that'll take Lirlia back to Coruscant.
"Everything is ready for you to depart. You'll get to Coruscant in 3 or 4 hours."
"Understood. Thank you again." Lirlia said.
Padme gave a small smile. "No need to worry. We are friends. Have a safe travel." She said and both of them hugged each other. Lirlia entered the vessel and got ready to depart. The ship took off and entered hyperspace once they got the coordinates.
The travel was calm, without any issues nor complications. Lirlia, though, got bored. The astromechanich droid wasn't much of help, either, since she cannot understands it. So she decided to write on her journey her thoughts and feelings. After two or so hours, she sighed and laid over the chair, her face looking up the ceiling.
"I want to go home." She said to herself. She didn't expect the droid to answer her.
"Oh... sorry for disturb you, little one. It wasn't my intention." She said looking to the droid.
The droid only beeped again, not knowing that Lirlia cannot understand it.
"I cannot understand you. Guess that I'll have to learn how to." She sighed again as the droid beeped. "Another thing to learn." She added.
The rest of the travel was boring for Lirlia. Used to move around and to feel adrenaline running through her blood, she started to get anxious. She played with her fingers and moved her legs up and down. The droid suddenly beeped, startling her,
"Oh! I'm sorry. Didn't realize that I got anxious." She apologized to the droid. She then looked to the window, where she could see the blue hole they were traveling. "Guess that I'll have to see the outside." She said. "Not that there is something to look, anyway." She mumbled to herself.
After that, she managed to stay calm until they arrived to Coruscant. The droid landed in one of the Temple's docking bay. She got out from the ship and found Jedi Master Mundi waiting for her.
"How was your travel?" He asked as soon as she got closer to her.
"It was fine. I got a bit bored, that's all." He chuckled.
"It is good to have you here again." He said walking inside with her following him.
"Likewise. So, is there something you may need help with?" She asked.
"I don't know. I was about to go to the War room when I got notified of your arrival." He said.
"Well then, shall we go?" She said.
They went to the War room and were filled that the Separatists were planing to attack Kamino, the Clone's home. The clones decided to protect their home, and Lirlia offered herself to help in the protection of their home.
The riddle Lirlia said is from The Withcer 3, from the NPC Gaunter O'Dim. Since there is a crossover between The Witcher and Monster Hunter, I thought on including it.
I have almost ready the next chapter using some old draft that I had. Don't know when I'll upload it.
Hope you like it! Any ideas to add or something that you didn't like, leave it in the comments
