The next days were peaceful to Lirlia, not being bothered by anyone about her weapon and armor. She spends most of her time at the Jedi Archives, she decided to learn how to write and read the common language, but soon gave up by how hard to her was.
"I just can't understand a thing! All of those symbols are an enigma to me." She complained, putting her head on the table as Jocasta chuckled.
"Well, you asked for this, I'm only helping you." Jocasta said. "Besides, it'd do good to you to learn about our language. That way, no one will be able to deceive you if you are not with someone else."
Lirlia lifted her head and sighed. "I know. Thing is, I can barely understand most of it."
"You can tell the difference of any monster of your home, use different kind of weapons like they are an extension of your body as you told us, can withstand hits that can kill anyone, and you have difficulty to learn a new language." Jocasta said with a smile.
"But the ones to said are more like... muscle memory and getting used and knowing a monster after fighting them a few times. And the hits, I can tolerate them thanks to my armor, though there are some hits that can knock me out cold." Lirlia said.
"Well, if you can do all of that, then you can learn our writings. You only have to keep practicing each day to improve little by little. Don't expect to know everything all at once." Jocasta said. Lirlia sighed, but knew that the elder Jedi Master was right. She grabbed her pencil and her notes and resumed with the lesson.
Days passed, and Lirlia started to now identify most of the symbols that represent the common language of the galaxy, capable now of reading full sentences without help. But she didn't receive help only from the Jedi. Padme also helped her a lot with it when she visited her at her apartment on Coruscant. She was with Padme right now, being helped by her after her mission to Mandalore. They are seated on her couch, reading a holobook.
"'The Republic... fights for freedom and... and... equality? Is that's what written there?" Lirlia asked, looking to Padme for confirmation.
"Yes. Freedom and equality. You are improving."
"Thanks. It's now easier to understand things now." Lirlia said. Then she remembered something. "By the way, how was your mission to Mada... Mana..." Lirlia said, not catching the name.
"Mandalore." Padme answered with a chuckle. "It went well. At least as well as it could go." Orem then sighed and pressed her back on the couch. "Corruption is spreading, even across the neutral worlds. It's been a problem on every government."
"How does it work? Corruption, I mean."
"It's where a person on an important position use it to gain more profit and personal power through illicit means. It can harm others on the process directly or indirectly." Padme explained.
"Ouch. I cannot imagine that on my home. Everyone is to do something to help each other to avoid getting harmed or even destroyed. I never knew that people can be that way." Lirlia said. Then she added. "I must be a complete fool to think that way."
"Don't say that. I'd love to see a place without corruption like your home. You are not used to see it or to know about it because, for what you've told, your people fight to protect their home. You were forced to see it happening. Especially coming to an unknown place for you. You have friends here, guiding you." Padme said smiling. Lirlia smiled as well.
"Yes. Indeed. Thank you for your kind words, Padme." Lirlia then said. "How is corruption going to be resolved?"
"It's hard to fix. Greed moves people to do those kind of things. Ahsoka was sent there this morning to find the responsible behind Mandalore's corruption."
"Let's hope the she does." Lirlia then moaned. "I want to go out and do something else. I have nothing much to do. Not much happening right now, so I guess that the war is now a bit calm. Though... I wouldn't mind helping." Lirlia said.
"I'm sure that everyone in the army would appreciate that, especially with how you fought to protect Kamino."
"It's just... I'm bored, you know. I always had something to do back at my home. Do this investigation, gather materials, hunt this monster, capture this monster, gather tracks. The list goes on and on." Lirlia said, closing the book. "Now, I arrived at a times of war. I am helping, but there isn't much that I can do other than help fight on certain battles across a galaxy I didn't know that existed. I appreciate this few days of peace, where no one pestered me about my gun and armor... but I miss the action, the adrenaline, and..." Lirlia cut herself.
"Do something else, right?"
Lirlia smiled. "...yeah. Not standing here, doing nothing."
"I am sure that you'll be called soon. Don't worry about that." Padme said. They then continued the rest of the day reading different things for Lirlia to learn, with Padme helping her when she needed. When it was night time, Padme offered her to stay in her apartment, which Lirlia accepted. They had dinner, with Lirlia having a healthy meal within her standards. They then went to sleep each. Lirlia took off her armor and gun, placing it beside the bed. She laid down on the bed, closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Lirlia was suddenly back to Seliana. She saw everyone running around the small town. Felynes and other hunters moving around carrying heavy boxes with supplies and such. She found that odd for a moment and walked to where her Handler usually was, at the canteen, but didn't find he there. She then went to the Council Meeting room. She found there her Handler, the Field Team Leader, the Seeker, the Tracker, Excitable A Lister, Lynian Researcher, Chief Ecologist, the Serious Handler and the Admiral.
"Have you found her yet?" The Team Leader asked.
"Not yet, sir. We've searched all over the Guiding Lands and the Hoarfrost Reach. We've got nothing." Serious Handler said.
"We also sent teams to look for her across the other regions. We also asked help for the Research Base to see and explore through the sky. They found nothing either. The commander in Astera sent an urgent petition for help to the Guild. They answered that they'd send the best tracker hunters they have available." Admiral said.
"I also asked to all the Grimalkyne tribes if she came to them to make trades with them. They said that she hasn't. I asked them to help us in her search instead." He shook his head. "So far, they haven't found a thing. They did tell me that they'd tell us immediately if they find something."
"Do you know what armor was she using after the Fatalis armor event?" The Tracker asked.
The Handler shook her head. "No. She wasn't. She was using other armor."
"That's a relief." Said the Tracker.
"I also went to Castle Schrade, see if I could find something. But I didn't." The Seeker added.
"Where are you, partner?" The Handler said hugging her mission book tighter.
The Tracker went to her side and placed a hand on her shoulder. "We will find her. We owe all to her. We have all the commission looking for her."
"What about Caverns of El Dorado, Origin Isle and Secluded Valley?" The Excitable A Lister asked.
The Tracker shook her head. "Our teams sent to the Secluded Valley found nothing. The Research Base went to Origin Isle and found no tracks of her. And when the Seeker and I went to the Caverns, we found nothing either."
The Team Leader placed a hand on his chin. "So this is something that goes beyond our reach. Our Sapphire Star just disappeared without a trace."
"It's not something that she can just... disappear. Especially without leaving something behind. There must be an explanation for that." The Handler said. "I know her better than anyone. It's not like her to do that."
Lirlia was trying to speak and to be heard all the time. Speaking, moving around, screaming, trying to push the other around. Nothing worked, and she was panicking and panting. Suddenly, the voices started to fade away and getting incomprehensible. Her eyes widen and she tried to move, but she found that she couldn't. Darkness started to surround everything and got closer to her until she saw only darkness...
Lirlia woke up gasping for air in the middle of the night. Perspiration was all over her body. Her heart was about to burst out of her chest. She took in oxygen for a few seconds before swallowing and closing her eyes. Her left hand supporting her over the bed while her right one was over her rapid heart. She cleared her throat before opening her mouth again and grunting. Her mouth was dry. She then heard someone knocking the door.
"Lady Lirlia? Are you ok?" She heard from the door.
"Y-yeah... I'm fine. J-just a bad dream." She said.
"Do you require something?"
"N-no. I'm fine. Don't worry. I am sorry for bothering you."
"I see. If you need something, just call, ok? We are here to help you."
"Thank you. Good night."
"Night." The maiden then left the door. Lirlia was left alone once again. She took in slow breaths as her heart started to slow down.
"Was that really a dream?" She whispered to herself. She looked to her right hand. "It felt so real." She said. She didn't realize that she was trembling until she saw her hand. She stood and went to the bathroom to wash her face and to drink a glass of water.
She then returned to the bed and sat there. She breathed a bit loud, adrenaline still running through her blood. She swallowed again and laid on the bed unceremoniously.
"What was that dream?" She said to herself. "Or was it something else?" She thought. As her mind calmed down, so did the adrenaline on her blood, lowering its concentration and stopping the fight-or-flight response. Sleep then came to her mind. A yawn escaped her lips.
"Whatever it was, surely it doesn't have any meaning now." She said. "Better get some sleep now." Another yawn escaped her lips. She then closed her eyes and moved her legs up the bed to properly sleep.
The next day, Lirlia woke up without having more dreams. She shrugged the dream as nothing important and got dressed, getting ready to return to the Temple.
"Thank you so much for helping me, Padme, and for letting me sleep here."
"It's not a problem Lirlia. We are friends after all. You can come here and ask for my help if you ever need it." Padme said, both of them were on her apartment's landing zone for ships. Ashoka was to take Lirlia back to the Temple, since she doesn't know nor want yet to learn to fly a ship.
They saw a speeder towards them before landing on the designed spot. Driving it was Obi-Wan Kenobi. He exited the speeder and walked to them.
"Greetings Senator. I have come to take Lirlia back to the Temple." He said.
"Understood, Master Kenobi. Any news on the Temple or the army?"
"Nothing much. The war is going on our favor. Things are good for the time being." Obi-Wan said.
"Alright. See you later then, Padme." Lirlia hugged the Senator, who returned the embrace.
"See you soon, Lirlia." Padme said.
Lirlia and Obi-Wan got into the speeder and drove back to the Temple.
A few days later, with Ahsoka's return to the Temple, having found the man behind Mandalore's corrupt web, and having protected Padme, Lirlia was spending her time whenever she could on Padme's apartment, both for learning and to protect Padme.
"Lirlia, come on. I am not as defenseless as you think." Padme said to Lirlia, who was checking on every window with her called Scoutflies.
"You may say that, but you were injured and almost killed! You don't have the protection that I have, so I need to be sure about your safety."
"Well, I really appreciate your concern, Lirlia, but not always you'll be here to protect me, nor will I have a Jedi too. I learned how to defend myself. Don't worry about me." Padme said, walking to Lirlia. She grabbed her shoulders and turned her so she would look at her. "Besides, we still need to continue with our session, no?" She smiled to the younger woman. Lirlia sighed and smiled. "As you say, Padme."
They sat on the couch as always, and continued with their session. Lirlia's made progress on learning how to read and write on the Common language.
"You are getting really good at this, considering at the begining you barely understand what was written." Padme said.
"Thanks. I've been spending most of my time on this while I am at the Temple." Lirlia said. She then looked to Padme. "You also helped me a lot."
"I'm glad. Also, I'd like to tell you something."
"What is it?" Lirlia said, titling her head to a side.
"I was invited to a gala tomorrow night, at 8 pm. I was thinking on taking you there with me."
"To a gala? Like… a party?"
"Not… like that. Is more of a formal meeting where you can meet a lot of important people, as well as other rich people from many places around the galaxy in the Republic, people that also own different enterprises. Some neutral leaders may attend, too." Padme explained.
"A formal reunion…" Lirlia said. "I… would be ok if I attend? I mean, these are the only clothes I have on me." She gestured to her armor. "And I don't think that it'd be polite if I appear wearing a battle-made armor with a big gun on my back."
"Well, that's why I picked some clothes for you to wear tomorrow night." Padme said, shocking Lirlia. "And about your gun… you'll have to leave it behind and hidden."
"I can't do that! They are both gonna be stolen and-" Padme placed her hands over the young Huntress shoulders.
"I know that you worry about them both. That's why I also talked with others to ensure that they are kept hidden and safe." Padme said. "You can leave them at one of the safest strongbox. They'll be kept there, safe, with no one able to enter. Only you will be able to get them back." Padme said.
"How does that strongbox work?"
"They will give you a key with an unique code. Only you will have the key with the code. Keep it at a safe place, though, for some lost the key and their objects were lost inside those strongbox."
Lirlia remained silent for a moment. Padme was observing her reaction. Only an emotionless face stared at her.
"You don't have to do it if you don't want to." Padme suddenly said. "I… sorry… I forgot about your feelings regarding your armor and gun." She quickly added.
"I.. I understand, Padme." Lirlia said. "I mean, true, many want them for research, even though they already did some on them." Lirlia sighed. "It's the first time I go to a gala… party… whatever is called, and I just don't know how to feel about it. I really want to go, but I need a safe place to guard my armor and gun. And it's been so long since I go out without them, that I'd feel like… not whole without them."
"I see, Lirlia. Well, it's not obligatory to go. It's ok if you don't want to go."
"No, I do want to go. I'd like to do something else than to hunt every day. I believe that it'd go good for me if I attend." Lirlia said walking away from Padme. "But as I said! I'd feel a bit uncomfortable without my gun or armor on me. But I believe that I'd manage."
"Would you want to choose your outfit for the occasion, then?" Padme asked after some seconds of silence.
Lirlia smiled and nodded. "I'd like to place my armor and gun on the safe box first."
When they got there, the people in charge of the safe boxes explained to Lirlia what she needed to know, and how they will keep her belongings safe. They explained to her the same thing Padme did, but Lirlia still was hesitant about leaving her stuff there. Only after ensuring her safe box with a double password, a camera recording who will go to the box, activating three layers of shields in front of the box, and asking two clones to guard the entrance to anyone who enter, did convince Lirlia to leave her armor and gun there and to enjoy the party.
"I'm still a bit hesitant about it." Lirlia said, rubbing her left arm in nervousness.
"It'd be ok, Lirlia. After all of the security measures, I don think that your equipment will be stolen, so try to forget about it and focus on the party tonight, yes?" Padme said, assuring her.
"Ok." Lirlia answered softly.
Both of them spent the rest of the day and most of the day after choosing an outfit for Lirlia to wear for the gala. At the end, the outfit chosen was an outstanding one. Padme was impressed by how good it looked on her.
"You look good on it, Lirlia." Padme said.
"Are you sure?" Lirlia said looking at her outfit. It consisted on a white shirt, pants, shoes and jacket over the shirt. The jacket is opened, revealing the withe shirt, that also reveals a bit of clavicle and just a bit of the start of her chest, highlighting the round form of her ample chest. Over the left side of the jacket, just where her left breast is, a white flower rests over the jacket. The jacket is long enough to go down up to her knees. White gloves hug Lirlia's hands. And a white belt run around her waist. Over the jacket's shoulders, there is a decoration that runs from her shoulders to nearly her elbows. Only her forehead was uncovered, her birthmark to display.
"How do the clothes feel, Lirlia?"
"A bit strange, if I'm being honest. I'm not used to have clothes that… soft. I grew used to have harsh materials against my skin." Lirlia said, looking to Padme, who's face turned from a smile to a thinking one. "It's not that I don't like it. Is that I'm not used to have these soft clothes against my skin. It's not bad. So don't worry about it, Padme." Lirlia added, thinking that she offended her friend.
Padme smiled at that. "I see. For a moment I thought that you were uncomfortable." Both chuckled.
"Nah. I'm good. Just… not used to the feeling, that's all."
"Well then. If we are ready, shall we going?" Padme said. She was using the same outfit she used to go to Mandalore.
"Wait, can we hide somehow my birthmark? I don't want to answer questions about it." Lirlia said.
Padme thought for a moment before she went to a small box over her desk and took a small fluffy thing.
"We can apply some color powder, so it'd be hidden from everyone. Don't worry, I have tone skin here." Padme said. After applying the powder, Lirlia's mark was hidden, and no one would ever know about it at the gala. After that, they went to the gala a bit late, with Lirlia complaining about arriving late.
"It's not something you should worry about, Lirlia. Many would be there, and the more there are, the less is that people will see you. They'll be focused on their things. And if they do bother you, just get away from them. They cannot do anything to you, nor force you to do anything. If something like that happens, you let me know." Padme said. Lirlia remained silent after Padme spoke, only nodding after some seconds later. They arrived and entered the gala, with Padme showing their invitations to the guards. Inside, Lirlia was met with different sounds and smells, so much so, that she had to place her left hand over her nose. That action wasn't missed by Padme.
"What's wrong?"
"Too much smells. It's a bit overwhelming for me." Lirlia said.
"Don't worry, you'll get used to it."
Then, they descended towards the main party, with people, both male and female, chatting, drinking and eating.
"Come, let's find some friends." Padme said. Lirlia nodded and followed the older woman. Padme spotted some of her friends nearby, and they made their way to them.
"Padme! It is good to see you." Bail Organa said. Is other companions turned to see them both.
"Padme. Glad that you made it." Riyu Chuchi said.
"Lirlia, I present you some of the Senators that support your cause. Bail Organa, the one you met when you first arrived, Riyu Chuchi, Senator of Pantora, Jar Jar Binks, Senator of Naboo, Mon Mothma and Onaconda Farr." Padme introduced her friends.
"Pleases to meet you all."
"The pleasure is all ours, Lirlia." Bail said.
"We've heard about your doings on this war, Lirlia. We are grateful that you are our ally." Mom Mothma said.
"We are honored to have you here, Lirlia." Riyu said. "Thank you for all the help you've provided to this war."
"I'm just doing what it feels right." She answered. After that, they spent most of the night talking and drinking, with them teaching Lirlia about politics and their own world. Some other senators also approached Lirlia, asking her about her world and her life as a Hunter. She told them in the simplest way she could, answering questions whenever they appeared.
It wasn't long before midnight came, but the party was still lively. At one moment, a friend of Padme approached.
"Padme, good to see you here." Satine said.
"Satine! Glad you get to the party." Padme hugged her friend. She then gestured to Lirlia. "This is Lirlia, the woman I told you about."
"Yes. It is a pleasure meeting you, Lirlia." Satine said.
"Pleased to meet you too." Lirlia answered, hugging her.
"At first, I didn't believe what Padme said about you and your equipment. But after watching some recordings, I just could not believe my eyes. It's also said that you claim to come from a mother world, where you fight creatures, am I right?"
"Indeed. That is where I come from. Though, I don't know where exactly is my… planet, for I was brought here without knowing how." Lirlia said.
"I see. Padme has also told me that you need help learning things."
"True."
"Well, if you need help with something that you might be interested, I offer my help to you as well. Fro, what I understand, you barely have any training on politics and in common language. I can also help you with that." Satine said.
"Thank you. I appreciate your offer and help." Lirlia said.
The night continued mostly the same, but with more Senators and other rich and important people talking to Lirlia. Some are acquaintances of Desolè, others have different interests regarding Lirlia.
"Would you like to enter to the model industry? I am quite sure that you'd do great." One said.
"Oh no, I'm pretty sure that she'd rather fit on the dance industry." Another said.
"Maybe she'll like to work on the weapons testing." Other said.
"What about your strange weapon and armor? How were they created to withstand blaster fire and the blade of a lightsaber? Would you share that knowledge with us? You'll get well paid for it." Another said.
"Gentlemen, please leave Lirlia alone. You are overwhelming her with so many offers, questions and the like." Padme said, noting Lirlia's uncomfortable face and alert posture. She, along with Ruiyu, managed to move Lirlia away from the crowd.
"You are quite the famous around the Republic, Lirlia." Chuchi said.
"All thanks to that recording." Lirlia said in a low voice. "Why the sudden interest and why is so much?"
"One, you are always on the Jedi Temple, and the Jedi don't let anyone enter. Also, they protect you from that kind of people. Two, everyone wants to know how to replicate your armor and gun's resistance. And three, and it must be said, you are stunningly gorgeous, Lirlia." Riyu said, making Lirlia to blush.
"I… I don't know what to say, Riyu. But surely the latter cannot be a reason, right?" Lirlia looked to Padme.
"Not for mocking or to make you uncomfortable, Lirlia, but what Riyu said is true. You are beautiful. There is no need to be embarrassed because someone tells you that." Padme added. Lirlia remained silent as the two other women walked with her to the food tables.
"Here, this might brighten you up." Padme said.
Lirlia smiled and started eating. "Thanks."
After that, and with a few more hours of chatting, Lirlia told Padme that she'd like to return to the apartment. They bid their goodies to everyone known to them and left. Before going to the apartment, Lirlia wanted to get her things back. Even though Padme now started to feel a bit tired, she agreed on getting back Lirlia's things. They went to the safe box. The workers there showed her that no one came to the box, they then disabled the shields, ordered the guards to leave so Lirlia could unlock the box. As promised, her armor and gun are still there. Lirlia sighed in relief and took them immediately, changing to them on the change room. After that, they returned to Padme's apartment and went to sleep.
Desolè was on his private lab, researching over the the blood sample that Sidious gave him. He's been at it for two days straight, not bothering to sleep or to even get a proper meal.
"This is amazing. The sample is old, since most of the blood's proteins and other components gets degraded in time, even being frozen after so long. But there are some leftovers there, and it's amazing how they work."
"Have you found something?" Sidious' talked over the private transmission.
"Very few, but marvelous." Desolè said looking from his microscope to the hologram. "I've run different tests on the blood sample, as well as getting the midichlorian account as you asked. Unfortunately, the results of the latter are inconclusive."
"Inconclusive?" Sidious said, moving a bit his head to the side, frowning.
"Yeah. I run the test three times, and all were the same. Whatever it is, the results could be affected by how the sample was treated: heated, frozen, then heated again. That process can messed with a lot of the blood's components." Desolè explained. "But I've got some other things that I found, as old as the sample is."
"Which are?"
"First, the amount of hemoglobin on her blood is higher than any average human or any other race, meaning more transport of oxygen across the blood and available for the cells. Second, the remaining enzymes and proteins that I could save are, on easy words, more effective in energy usage and in their bio function, meaning that they act faster than most of everyone's blood enzymes and use energy more efficiently."
"So, her body can use less energy and do more... is that it?"
"Yes. Also, I've managed to recover some DNA fragments from some leukocytes, and the information hidden there is... Hmm..." He thought looking up."…how to say it... it can really make differences in genome engineering."
"Really? How so?"
"In most species, if not all, there is 'trash' DNA that doesn't provide information. It's just there, using space and energy when the cell replicates. On Miss Lirlia's DNA, these trash information is not there to use space and be idle. They actually serve for something. But I do not know for what."
"Hmm... so there are hidden secrets on her genome." Sidious said. "Anything else?"
"Not much. Most enzymes and other cells were degraded. I cannot do much more with this blood sample." Desolè said. "If it isn't much to ask, but may I ask for a new blood sample? A fresh one, without suffering any process. I'd like to see the coagulation system."
"That can be arranged, don't worry about it. I'll get a flesh sample to you. But it will take time." Sidious said. "What about the report?"
"I've sent it to you this morning. It isn't so much different from the one I gave to the Republic Army. Just some few subtle but important changes were made to avoid lifting suspicions." Desolè said. Then he added. "I know that you said that you'll handle most of those who participated on the project to analyze Miss Lirlia's equipment, but I'd rather not to use that card yet. So I made some changes that they'd not see, will please them."
"I see." Sidious said. "I will contact you once I have the fresh blood sample." He added before cutting off the communications.
Desolè continued observing the sample, amazed at the mysteries that Lirlia possess.
'I will uncover all of your secrets, Miss Lirlia.' He thought. 'It's just a matter of time.'
New chapter! The outfit Lirlia is using is the Gala Armor on Monster Hunter World with the cest and hat modded. The chest mode I used is this monsterhunterworld/mods/2206
Is only the chest and hat replacement, the rest like waist, legs and amrs are the normal outfit of the game. Wanted to clear that :)
