Chapter 11

Hermione and Draco sat together on the couch staring at the fire. Lost within the flames. Both still had the argument that had occurred hours earlier, which had caused Harry to storm out of the common room.

"Why did you have to tell him my secret?", Hermione asked breaking the silence.

"What secret?", Draco replied with a dazed look still on his face.

"You know the one about my parents", she told him frustration in her voice.

Draco shook himself out of his daze. Looking at her, he saw that she didn't look too happy.

"I thought he had the right to know", Draco glared.

"Well maybe I wanted to tell him later", Hermione shouted stomping out of the room.

"Somebody is not in a good mood today", Draco muttered as he heard the portrait door slam.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Hermione stormed through the hallways. Giving dirty looks to everyone, as they all backed away shocked. Not many people had seen Hermione act like this. What could have someone done to make her this mad.

She tried to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall. She didn't know where she was going; she was just letting her feet lead her in no particular direction. She would have walked for miles if someone had not grabbed her.

She yelped as someone began to drag her out of the corridor. She tried to turn her neck to look at her kidnapper, but she just couldn't seem to turn her heard around far enough. She tried to scream, but she couldn't. Why couldn't she make a noise? She couldn't have suddenly become mute. She started to panic even more, and finally realized that she was under a silencing charm.

Where was her kidnapper taking her? Oh if only she hadn't left her wand in the common room. Suddenly, she was thrown to the floor. Her wide eyes scanned the room in fear. She finally saw who had grabbed her.

(DUN dun dun...)

It was Ron. Whose face was as red as his hair. He was fuming and shooting her the dirtiest look he could muster. Which was, well, rather pathetic looking. Now could see why Slytherins laughed at him when he was mad.

He slapped her across the face, and she gently touched her cheek in shock.

"Why? Why would you be friends with that dirty evil ferret?", He screamed.

She tried to reply, but could not as there was still a silencing charm on her.

"What? Can't reply? Or are you trying to think of how you are going to beg to Harry and I for forgiveness?", he asked with a smug look on his face.

Wow he was dumber than she thought. She was ready to slap that smug look off his face when his next comment stopped her.

"Well maybe everyone was right you are just a filthy mud blood, yeah I heard how Harry caught you screwing around with that ferret", He slapped her again.

She couldn't believe it; Harry had told Ron that she was sleeping with Draco. Ron would probably tell his girlfriend, Lavender. Then what would happen? It would be all over the school.

She stood up, slapped Ron and walked out with tears in her eyes. She had lost whatever friendship with Draco she had, betrayed by Harry, and Ron had kidnapped her. It was all Harry's fault.

She remembered all the times they had spent together. The good times and the bad. The times they had fault Voldermort and many other things. The times they had insulted and pranked the Slytherins. The times they ended up in the hospital wing.

Now it was gone. All gone, never to return. Their friendship had turned to dust. It was shattered, and the pieces were too small to be put back together. Yet big enough to cut Hermione. To leave scars on her heart. The fragments big enough to be stuck inside her, in her memory. Where they would lie forever. The golden trio was gone.

She found herself walking outside towards the lake. Where she sat down and looked at the water. It was going to be frozen in a matter of weeks, she thought as a cold breeze caused her to shiver. Her tears fell down, splashing onto the lake's clear surface. She could hear merpeople wailing somewhere deep down in the lake's depths. It was like they were crying for her. Like they were feeling her pain. Wailing for her losses.

She could see the giant squid floating alone in the waters. She had always wondered how that squid ever got there. There were no other squids in the lake, so how did this one get there? Did it even feel as lonely as she did? Did it ever lose everything that meant anything to it, like her? Was the squid slowly losing itself, slowly dying inside? Was it anything like her?

Would anything ever be okay again? Was there really a point in living this life? She walked closer to the lake. Would anyone but the merpeople cry for her if she drowned? Would anyone else wail for her? Would anyone but the squid keep her company and visit her watery grave? Would it hurt to die in the cold watery depths? Would the freezing cold water feel like a thousand knives as she fell down, down, down? Would she have second thoughts as she sunk further into the water?

She was about to jump in, but something had stopped her. She had promised to Draco that she wouldn't. She wouldn't commit suicide. He had hurt her though. Did her promise really matter now? No, she couldn't do this.

Shaking, she moved away from the water. What had she almost done? She almost died, right there. She couldn't do this, she wouldn't do this. The water seemed to beckon her, but she wouldn't give in. She couldn't give in to the calls of suicide. She would not allow herself to do that. Never.
