Chapter 14
"Okay c'mon we have to put your hair up," Sonya told Hermione as she made her sit down in front of a mirror.
"Just please don't make it look bad," Hermione pleaded.
"I won't, I won't I promise," Sonya promised her.
Sighing Hermione tried to wait patiently for her hair to be finished. It was going to be a long time before she would get down to the ball. At least not with Sonya around.
5 minutes later
"Almost finished," Hermione asked.
"Nope"
4 minutes and 26 seconds later
"Done yet," she sighed.
"Nope," Sonya replied.
7 minutes later
"Are you do-"
"No I am not done yet"
10 minutes later
"Would you stop singing its a small world after all. Please it is getting really annoying," Sonya begged.
Hermione sighed and waited. 'I better look good tonight', she thought.
"Voila you are finished," Sonya said.
Hermione looked in the mirror. Her hair was up in an elegant bun with a few wisps of hair coming down. She had never looked and felt so beautiful in her life. She sat there staring in shock at her reflection.
"Wow I like it. I mean I really like it. No scratch that I love it," Hermione exclaimed.
Approx. 2 hours later
Hermione and Sonya donned on their masks, glanced at their reflection one more time, and headed towards the great hall.
"I am so excited," Sonya squealed.
"I know," Hermione agreed as they entered the great hall.
Sonya and Hermione gasped at the sight before them. Snow was enchanted to fall down from the ceiling, but it disappeared before it could fall on anyone or cause the floor to get snowy. There was Christmas trees against the walls that left plenty of room for the dance floor and the tables. The only lights were these gold glowing stars that floated above the tables.
Sonya and Hermione headed over to a table and sat down with a butterbeer. They began to talk and someone approached them. He silently tapped Hermione on the shoulder and she turned around to see a guy with black hair, black robes, and a black mask.
"Could I have this dance," they mysterious guy in black asked her, as he held out his hand.
"Yes," she replied flashing him a smile.
He led her over to the dance floor and they begun to dance. He seemed to be the perfect height; the same height as Draco. Oh and those eyes. She felt like she could swim in those gray depths. Like a sea of silver, she felt as though she could drown in his eyes. She loved the feel of his arms around her as they danced. It made her feel protected from any harm and it just made her feel safe.
She was attracted to this mysterious stranger and she didn't know why. She didn't know why he asked her to dance or why she accepted. He seemed so gentle and kind to her. He just seemed perfect.
They silently whispered to each other as they danced. Soon it seemed like they knew more about each other than anyone else they knew.
As the night wore on he finally led her outside to a small garden. The only sound was the water rushing in the stone fountain. The only light was the silver rays of moonlight and the twinkling stars. A light breeze swirled through Hermione's hair. A sweet fragrance of roses was in the air, as they were surrounded by rose bushes.
"Your so beautiful tonight, Hermione," He said as he handed her a soft, red rose.
Her eyes lit up as her fingers ran over the velvety petals. This moment was so surreal. This guy was so perfect. This ball was like those sweet dreams where you wake up wishing it had never ended.
"Thank you, but how do you know my name," She asked looking into his eyes.
Taking off his mask he revealed the face of Draco Malfoy. With a wave of his wand his midnight black hair changed back to his platinum blond hair.
"You're so beautiful," He told her again as he leaned closer and closer.
Her breath caught in her throat. Her mysterious, yet perfect guy was Draco. Soon their lips met in a breathtaking kiss. One that seemed to make Hermione fly. It felt as though she was levitating. His hand reached up and touched her cheek, which sent static throughout her body. She was glad that she was sitting because she was getting so weak in the knees.
Finally they tore apart and took in a deep breath. She looked deep into his eyes and felt her heart flutter. All she could think was, 'wow'. Standing up they began to walk through the garden. Hand in hand they walked through the shadowy night.
"What is that," Hermione asked pointing to something on the ground.
Draco shrugged as he looked down at the silvery object that glowed in the moonlight. Still holding onto Draco's hand she reached down to grab the object. She felt the cool metal against her fingertips.
"Draco, look it's a...," was all she got to say before she felt a familiar tug on her navel.
