Rainy Day
--oOo--
"This sucks," Sora whined, sticking his bottom lip out and shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
He, Kairi, Riku, and Selphie were standing beneath a rather large blue umbrella that was bigger than the four of them combined. The handle rested on Riku's shoulder, because being the oldest, he got to hold it.
"Aw, it isn't that bad!" Selphie declared with a smile, which caused the three of them to look at her funny.
"Why don't we try to find something to do inside?" Kairi suggested, her face turned into a pout at the constant falling rain. The streets were all flooded, causing the neighborhood to look like it had a bunch of rivers running through it.
"We could play in it..." Sora suggested, really liking that idea.
"No way, it's too cold!" Riku declared, moving the umbrella a little so that Sora got a few drops on his skin. The brunette whined and jumped back underneath the shelter of the large parasol.
"Told ya," the eldest declared, with sticking out his tongue for 'umf'. Which Sora happily returned.
"It isn't that cold you guys!" Selphie said, sticking her foot into the water. Kairi did the same, and both girls giggled as little leaves and twigs brushed by their bare feet.
"But we could get sick..." Riku started, but Sora jumped up, grabbing his cheeks and pulling.
"Stop being so grown up 'Ku!" he told him and Riku frowned as Sora jumped forward, pushing the girls into the water.
Riku pouted as his three friends stomped into the street, kicking up the dirty water and giggling as it got onto their clothes and rushed over their little bodies. He glanced up at the gray sky, sticking his tongue out at it briefly.
"Get him!" he heard Kairi declare as he was soon splashed by a huge wave of rain water. The umbrella bounced out of his hands and onto the ground, turned upside down. He plopped on his butt, and glared up through his drooping bangs.
"You're so getting it!" he warned and rushed forward, stomping into the water and tackling down the first person in his reach. Selphie giggled as she was covered in water and soon it turned into a huge splashing fight.
Over an hour later, they had all calmed down, but decided to make small make-shift boats instead. The four of them happily stuck broken coconuts, twigs, and leaves together to make little boats and sent them downstream. Where they ended up, they didn't know, but they were quite proud of themselves to see their little navy down the street.
After a while though, the water began to recede, disappearing to wherever it decided to go. The children hardly noticed, for they lay on Sora's damp yard, each head on someone else's abdomen, forming a square. Selphie and Sora had drifted off, and were contently napping.
"Do you think it'll ever rain like that again, Riku?" Kairi asked, holding her hand up and spreading her fingers. Naturally they asked him, because everyone knew Riku knew everything. He was the smartest six year old... ever.
"Maybe..." he whispered, tilting his head to look at Kairi, "why?"
She giggled and let out a little sigh.
"Maybe next time, something else will fall from the sky...like stars..." she whispered, almost like she was telling him a secret.
Riku continued to look at her a long while before a smile broke on his face. "Yeah... okay. I hope it rains stars too, Kairi."
They continued to lay there for another moment, before they woke up Sora and Selphie.
"So what do you want to do now?"
"I dunno...lets watch a movie or something."
"That's a great idea! Like what?"
"How about... Aladdin!"
"Aw...Selphie...not again!"
"Yes again! Aladdin's sooo cute!"
