Disclaimer: I don't own RENT! It's all Jonathan Larson's.

A/N: Ok so I realize I need to update more. But I haven't really had a lot of time. My algebra teacher is a skank who gives us ungodly amounts of homework…especially for SUCH a useless topic. Yesterday would've been such a good day for an update, being that it was the anniversary of Jonathan Larson's death and all…it would've been a nice little memory thing. Anyway….I should just start writing so I won't have much to do after The O.C.

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

"MAZEL TOV!" There was a collective roar of those two simple words as Mark crashed his foot into the wine glass in the sand. It was official. He was married to his Marli and was definitely the luckiest guy in the whole world.

They kissed and felt the ocean on their faces. After her little phone episode with her mother, her mom finally decided to listen to what she had to say. Then she decided it would be okay if they got married near Marli's parent's house in West Palm Beach. Then they'd go have the reception in the ballroom of their estate.

It was a small wedding, and he liked it that way. There were only about 70 people in attendance. But that was what they had wanted. Nothing too extravagant. Maybe if circumstances were different…oh well, there was nothing they could do about it now. They had a Jewish ceremony, much to her parents' dismay, but she had insisted, much to his delight, that she didn't believe in being Catholic anyway.

As they walked to the carriage that would take them to the house, her pink dress trailing behind her. Her golden hair was flying in the wind he had come to find very common on a beach in January. They were holding hands and he could feel her wedding band pressing into his. For the ceremony, they had each used a simple gold band, like the one the ceremony called for. But they had changed into their real ones. Her into a diamond eternity band and him into a solid platinum band. He leaned over and gave her yet another kiss. He was so happy being married to her that all the concerns he'd ever had, like the babies and rushing into things, just seemed to melt away.

He helped her into the carriage, guided by a white pony, and she smiled. "I love you so much," she said softly. It was an understatement for how he felt for her. He loved her more than anything else in the world. The babies were the best things that had ever happened to them both. They made them realize their true feelings for each other and made them get back together.

When the carriage finally reached Marli's parent's estate, they unloaded, and Mark helped his beautiful new wife out again. They were about to make their grand entrance into the wedding.

The band was playing a light tune, when a sudden drum roll erupted. He was sure that it was to make everyone in the room stop what they were doing. He heard the singer say their cue to come on. "And now, may I introduce to you for the first time…Mr. and Mrs. Mark Cohen." The doors opened and Marli squeezed his hand tight. It kind of hurt, but he was frankly too blissed to be pissed. Everyone applauded which made him blush bright crimson.

Mark was just very curious as to why Marli's parents would put so much into a seventy-person wedding, but he didn't dare ask. It really wasn't his place. They paid for it, so they could do whatever the hell they wanted as far as he was concerned. It was their money, and they were filthy rich.

They had their first dance, and then sad down to have the lavish dinner. After dinner was when people started giving speeches. First up: Alicia.

"Marli is the greatest sister ever. I for one am very surprised that she got married before me, but I absolutely adore my new brother-in-law, Mark, and I'm so glad he and Marli found each other. You two are going to be so happy together. I just hope that one day, I will find a love as strong and as powerful as the one you both are very lucky to share! Marli, you have always been there for me, through everything, and I promise to always be there for you both. I will take the train in to baby-sit…anything! Love you both! To Mark and Marli!" Mark swore he saw tears in Marli's eyes as Alicia spoke. He didn't know if it was because Alicia was speaking and Hillary was dead, or just because Marli was touched and just a tad over emotional due to the pregnancy, but it was quite odd, seeing Marli cry when she wasn't angry.

Next speech was Roger. "So I've known Mark since we were fifteen. Then he went off to college after high school, and well, I just went to New York. Then after he finished Brown and moved in with me, with his old roommate from college, Benny." He gestured to Benny, who had surprisingly turned up, sans-Alison. "And also this professor Collins moved in with us. And before you know it, we had our little group. A lot has happened since then, but one thing really hasn't changed, and that has been our friendship. We've been there for each other through thick and thin. He's helped me through some tough times. Marli, even though I haven't known you that long, I think you are amazing and just so perfect for Mark. I hope he can help you through everything, just like he helped me…I know he will. I love you guys and congrats! Raise your glasses!" It was quite ironic in a way, that Roger's speech sounded better than Alicia the MBA's. But Roger was a songwriter, which would probably make him better at writing things than her stuffy MBA sister, anyway.

Those were the only two important speeches. All the others were short, sweet, and relatively unimportant. No one really paid attention, except to applaud at the end.

Finally, the speeches were done and Marli was relieved. If she had to sit through one more person saying how much they loved she and Mark, she would probably kill someone. Maybe two people. Who knew? Point is, she'd be homicidal and on the loose. It was time to dance again and Mark grabbed her hand. They went onto the dance floor and danced to the song. It was old and familiar, just like their relationship seemed, somehow. She nestled her head into Mark's chest as they danced. She wanted to hold this moment forever and ever in her head. She wanted to hold it forever and never let go.

"Say it." She said to Mark, without much thought. She didn't know what she wanted to him to say. Perhaps she wanted him to say something part of the waves of thought that were currently swimming her head.

"Say what? That I love you? Because you know I do. I love you so much. More than I've ever loved anything else in my life. Even more than I love my camera!"

"Oh no, not the camera. I think we all know you could've married that if you could! But no, that wasn't what I was talking about at all." She giggled softly and smiled, showing her straight white teeth.

"Then what? What did you want me to say, Mar?"

"Just say it…" she still didn't know what she wanted him to say. "Say that you'll never let go! Never ever let go."

"I will never let go. Not as long as I live." He kissed her lightly on the forehead and looked into her eyes, "I could never let go, even if I wanted to. Not that I would want to or anything…"

She was laughing amongst the tears that had somehow managed to appear in her eyes. It was just like him to ruin a perfect moment like that. He didn't need to add the last part; she already knew it was true. "Mark, ramblers badge. Kudos for ruining the perfect moment."

"Take two?"

"Film talk? Just ruined another potentially perfect moment." This time, it was pure laughter coming from her mouth.

"I love you Marli."

"I love you too. Even if you ruin all the perfect moments. Even if you talk with film lingo when you're flabbergasted. Even though you lack all the poetics needed to say something as simple as 'I'll never let go.' I love you so much. I make up for what you lack in the poetics department. You are the love of my life!"

And the song ended. But they stayed on the dance floor anyway. They kissed and it was quite possibly the most magical kiss ever. They heard a few wolf whistles from the guests, but they didn't care. After what may have been a few minutes, maybe a few hours, perhaps several magical days, they broke apart, smiling big. They had a fairy-tale love.

Boy loves girl. Girl loves boy. Boy dates other girl to numb him thinking the girl he loves doesn't love him back. Girl runs off, hurt. Other girl leaves boy for another girl. Boy meets girl again. Girl and boy fall in love. Girl and boy fight. Girl gets pregnant. Girl and boy get engaged. Girl and boy get married. Girl and boy's story…to be continued.

Well, now that she looked at it that way, it seemed more dysfunctional than fairy-tale. And truth be told, it kind of was. But not when you were in it. When you were in it, it was perfect.

And even when the music wasn't playing, they danced. It didn't matter that there wasn't any music, they just kept on dancing. There were songs neither of them had the faintest inkling about, but they danced anyway. When the sun wasn't up anymore, they kept on dancing. In fact, with the exception of cake, they danced for the rest of the night.

And after everyone had left, only to come back for the brunch tomorrow, they changed and ran out to the beach, where they danced in the waves, letting the sand squish between their toes.

One of the best feelings in the world was feeling the sand between your toes as the foamy salt water washed over them. She remembered coming down here with her friends when she was a teenager and drawing the names of the boys they liked in the sand with their toes, only to have the water wash it away. She would've written something about her and Mark in the sand, but it wasn't permanent. She liked to think it was poetic of her to think that, but it really wasn't. The water could wash anything written in the sand away. So instead, she chose to write it in her heart. In the ocean of her heart, the waves never touched the sand if someone you truly cared about was written in it. It may seem childish of her, but she felt that if the waves washed away anything, the relationship would die. She couldn't have that.

And as they both stood on the beach feeling the sand between their toes, she knew one thing was true: that this, all of it, was absolutely perfect.

A/N: The long awaited wedding chapter. Took all night. Appreciate it! I was going to add the brunch to this chapter, but it's going to have something rather scandalous in it, or so I'm thinking. You can never really be sure with me. Point is…I couldn't ruin such a perfect chapter with that. So….yeah…review!
