She knew he was coming, with knowing that she knew she couldn't sleep. She tried, numerous times at that. She took two showers and even changed what she was wearing numerous times.
"What am I doing?" She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed, running her fingers through her hair and putting her hands on her hips. "We have more important things to worry about then how I look." She heard voices coming from downstairs and checked the time, it was nearly dawn.
"Is he here already? I didn't think he'd be here till later…" She muttered aloud, turning and heading down the stairs. She moved quietly, not wanting to wake or disturb anyone's conversation. She smiled, when her eyes fell upon the brooding vampire standing, his back toward the front door.
"Angel," she quietly said.
He stopped talking when he heard her voice, slowly turning around. His smile matched hers when he saw the blond slayer standing behind him. She was in her 'yummy sushi' pajama pants and a tank top, her hair disheveled from sleep. He walked over to her and their eyes locked. He could feel the heat radiating off of her body, surrounding him, embracing him.
"Buffy." His voice was soft as his hand reached out and caressed her cheek. "It's been-"
"Too long," she finished for him, remembering their last meeting. They had been so caught up in the fact that Willow had brought her back, they talked for hours and hours about everything. They even fought.
She confronted him about the time the day rewound; the day she visited him in LA, to discuss his 'Thanksgiving' stalking.
She forgave him when she realized what a burden it must have been for him to carry all these years, to know what could have been and never have it.
Her eyes closed as she felt his cool touch and she felt him getting closer, his mouth nearing hers. They kissed soft and deep. Not as the lovers they once were, but of the comfort, safety, they shared even now, after all this time.
When his lips finally broke from hers she opened her eyes, a smile on her face. "Well hello to you, too," she said, wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him. "I'm so glad you came."
"You needed me, I came. That's how it works," he simply replied, his words true. They had decided long ago that no matter what happened, they would always be there for each other; no matter what was going on they would drop everything to help.
"I know, but still, I'm glad you're here." She paused, remembering Tara and the redhead upstairs, her smile fading. "I just wish it was under different circumstances."
"I know." He kissed her forehead.
