Fire and Ashes

Egyptoelf

Okay, this is my first fanfic so if you want to tell me to improve you can. I don't own Jade Empire by any chance

Abbot Song watched as the rain fell on the Jade Empire. Was this really worth it? he thought. Maybe there was water in the empire but at the cost of it would have been better to wait for the drought to end. He thought back to that day five years ago when the Emperor, Sun Hai, came to Dirge with his brothers, Sun Li and Sun Kin, to get the power of the water dragon by force…

The day was especially cold as Abbot Song taught his student the Hand of Astral, Young Emperors. It was a confusing move, meant to distract your opponent while you came back. As they practised another monk ran up to them with news.

"The child has been born, Abbot."

"Really, well make sure the child is safe" Song told the monk. The monk agreed and went off.

"Master, what was about?" asked the Student.

"Dark things are happening. I believe that child is our only hope."

"I thought I was your only hope."

"Student, you will play a part in this story."

The student sighed and sulked off.

Meanwhile, Abbot Song was on lookout duty. He thought he saw an orange light in the distance. As it got closer he realised what it was; the Imperial Army. He sounded the alarm immediately. He hoped they had time.

The student didn't hear the alarm. When he woke up in the night his room was on fire and there was no way out. When the solders got in all they found were his ashes. Meanwhile Abbot was defending the water dragon.

"Come with me Abbot!" shouted a monk over the cries of death.

"No. This is my fight." Song replied. Those were his last words before Sun Kin and Sun Li cut him down. The monk at the top of the stairs ran and hid.

The ghost of Abbot Song stood up. The rain was still there. He sighed and wondered what had happened to the boy after he escaped. He turned around to see the last living thing in Dirge; a small frog. Abbot saw the frog and looked up into sky. Maybe there was hope at all…
