Introduction

Camelot is at the height of its reign. With King Arthur and his Round table, Camelot has only to occasionally deal with take over attempts from Sir Rancid and Nanny-- attempts which are almost always foiled by Sir Gadabout (the worst night in the land) and when he doesn't succeed… its usually up to Sir Knight and Sir Gadabout's own trusty squire, Will.

Elenora's First Love

'Will, have you seen my sword?'

The young man, with his dark blond hair cut close to his head and his pensive blue eyes, stared at the knight.

'Yes sir, it's right in your hand.'

'Ah yes,' looking slightly embarrassed, Gadabout nodded to his sword, 'good job William,' and with a pat on the back, he was gone.

'Do you ever feel like you're working for an idiot?'

Will looked up to find the light of his heart, Princess Elenora, King Arthur's only child, leaning across the bannister while he swept the ground floor.

'I thought you liked Sir Gadabout--'

'It's not a case of liking him, Will,' she dismissed his reply impatiently.

'Well then yes-- an idiot, but an idiot who has his moments.'

'Watch it William, that could almost pass for treason…'

Will shook his head, as though trying to clear it. Elenora was one of those people that he couldn't quite understand. He knew he was a fool for loving her when she seemed to confuse him just for her own amusement.

'I'm sorry princess,' he bowed slightly then continued on his way.

Elenora watched as Will disappeared down a corridor.

SHE was 'Sir Knight' for goodness sake, she had defended Camelot more times than she could count-- she shouldn't be acting like a complete moron in front of the squire.

Immediately she felt guilt at calling Will that-- after all, he was much more than a squire to her.

He'd helped her numerous times to save Camelot from Sir Rancid and Nanny-- and of course, helped her herself when she'd found herself in grave peril.

It also didn't escape her memory that he'd warned Sir Knight off her-- something which even at the time (duelling against him) made her stomach throb with excitement.

'You know what you need, lad?'

'Your Highness?'

'A stiff drink.'

Will stared at Arthur and sighed. He didn't understand how the King and the knights could already be drunk by eight thirty at night. Thank goodness that Gadabout was not a drinker-- for that he was grateful, because he wouldn't be mopping up any puke tonight.

'Thank you sire,' he accepted the drink and promptly let it drip to the floor, the King wouldn't notice.

'May I retire for the night sire?'

'What? Oh yes, yes, of course of course-- of you go then.'

Will was bowing out of the room when he went smack into someone from behind him.

'Ah!'

'Princess, I apologise.'

'Will--'

'I hope you're okay…'

'Will--'

'I must go now, princess.'

'William!'

'What?'

Elenora stared at the guy who wouldn't even meet her eye. She wondered what she could possibly do to make him look at her.

She wracked her mind.

Think Elenora…

'I love you.'

The triumph she felt when Will's head snapped up was momentary, then her cheeks started to burn and she was the one who couldn't wait to get out of there.

'Truly?' he asked before she could take back.

She wondered whether she should lie, but the blueness of her eyes willed her honesty and she nodded.

'Elenora…'

She loved it when he spoke her name and found her gaze straying to his full lips, which seemed to get larger-- he was getting nearer.

'Will…?'

Then he kissed her, a kiss that she'd longed for for so long that she'd lost count of how many times she'd surpressed the urge to ask him for it…

'I love you too.'

Her first love.

Of course first love's never quite have the ending the they quite planned…

William was sent away on a mission a few days later.

And after that came Juan.
