Chapter 12 All recognizable characters belong to Stephenie Meyers.

Megan 39 thank you for your review. I agree with you about Edward and I wish the same. Unfortunately Bella needs to think she has her fairytail before Jacob joins the story and pokes holes in her fantasy. I am hoping for him to show up in chapter 19 but I am aiming for chapter 20. If you want info on Jacobs character pm me and I will send it to you. I will be trying to post a new chapter on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Now on to the Chapter.

Bella was relieved when Charlie picked her up at six that night. In an uncharacteristic show of affection he pulled her into a tight embrace. It's not like he didn't hug her, it was just that his usual hugs consisted of an awkward one armed action that lasted a few seconds.

"I'm sorry I was late. I promise I won't be late again this week."

"So, does that mean you will be late again next week." Bella tried to infuse some humor in her words.

He smiled at her. "At least one day, yes." He told her in all seriousness.

While driving home he cleared his throat. "We have to talk about something."

"Okay. What?" Bella said cautiously.

"I have to go out on Saturday."

"You got a hot date?" Bella joked.

He snorted a humorless laugh. "No, There is just something I have to do and it's going to take a while, I know you're old enough to stay home alone but I will be gone for a good portion of the day. I just wanted to know if maybe you would want me to take you to a friends house before I leave."

"No, no. I'll stay home, no problem."

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yes, definitely. I like my alone time." She reassured him.

"Okay, if you change your mind just let me know." He told her.

Thursday after school Jessica joined them in making the decorations. She explained how she was making flyers that advertise homecoming and passing them out over the last few days.

"So, Alice right?" She asked with a little too much pep.

"That's me,'' The small girl smiled at her.

Without seeming to take a breath Jessica rambled "Welcome to the neighborhood. We should do something together. Oh, I know, We could have a sleepover. Good food and games. You can tell us all about you and your family. Oh we can do it tomorrow. I'll call my mom and ask right now." Without waiting for anyone to say something she ran out in the hall to use her cell phone.

Bella and Angela looked at each other with raised eyebrows. They suspected there was something more behind their friend's enthusiasm.

"Um, is she okay?" Alice asked.

Both girls looked at Alice then looked toward the hall. Looking back at Alice they shook their heads.

Jessica came back into the gym looking like she was about to cry. "My mom says we can't stay at my house. She said it's too short of notice."

"I'll call my mom and ask." Angela volunteered.

"I'll come with you." Bella said as they headed out in the hall.

"Hi mom. - No, we're still decorating. - Will it be okay if some of my friends sleep over tomorrow night? - I know. - No, it's Jessica. I think she needs some girl time. - Okay. Thanks mom. You're the best."

Bella peeked through the doorway. She could see Jessica standing by their project and biting her nails.

"What do you think is going on?"

Angela shrugged "I guess we will find out tomorrow."

Angela gave the girls the news as soon as she was in front of them. "My mom said yes."

Jessica squealed and grabbed both Angela and Bella into a group hug.

"Do you really want me to come?" Alice asked.

"Yes, totally. We're going to have so much fun." Jessica was bouncing up and down.

Her emotional highs and lows were so drastic her friends were becoming concerned.

Charlie didn't say it but Bella could tell he was relieved she wouldn't be staying home alone on Saturday, and that she made plans with her friends.

Alice sent a group text to let them know she would also be joining the sleepover.

The girls showed up to school on Friday with their overnight bags in tow. When Angela's mom came to pick them up Jessica, Alice, and Bella sat in the back of the car. Angela sat in front with her mom.

They ordered pizza when they got back to the house. The twins were staying over with their grandparents for the night.

When Pastor Weber got home he came into the kitchen to greet them.

"Wow, looks like we are having a party here." He announced.

"No, dad. It takes five to make a party." Angela joked.

"Well then," A voice came from behind her father. "Let's get this party started."

With that remark a blonde head came into view.
