Cheese12345 welcome back. The reason the Cullen's are so anti-social is because they move around alot, I'm glad you noticed the key thing ;-D .
Megan39 You will find out about Rosalie in chapter 30, and Jake reveals all in chapter 31.
Echo58 Yes, it is very dark. Fortunately the characters will grow and get glimpses of that light until they can see it completely.
Thank you all for your reviews.
Chapter 24
The next morning. Edward's Volvo was parked outside Bella's house. Behind it was Jasper's sports car.
"What the hell is going on out here?" Charlie Bellowed.
Edward got out of his car. Jasper, Alice and Rosalie all got out too.
Respectfully speaking Jasper said. "I'm here just in case Bella needs a ride to school sir."
"And you?" Charlie said rudely to Edward.
"I am here to drive Bella to school. Me being her boyfriend I feel I have the right to do so." Edward sounded almost condescending.
"No, being her boyfriend gives you no rights." Charlie said, then he looked between the two boys. "Since when does my daughter need two cars to drive her to school."
"She doesn't." Rosalie spoke fiercely.
Her arms were crossed and she was glaring at Edward. Charlie lifted his brows.
"Well, Bella has a ride." Charlie gestured to Jacob, who was now standing on the porch. "So you can both leave."
Jasper gave a polite nod and returned to his car with the girls. Edward remained standing there.
"Did you not hear me boy. Get gone!"
"All do respect Charlie. I have heard many things about your guest. Frankly I do not feel safe with Bella being alone with him. I much prefer to have her safely with me."
Bella, who was forced to quietly bare witness to all of this, glanced back afraid Jacob would be offended. He looked bored.
Charlie scoffed a laugh. "There was not one respectful word you just said. First, you call me Chief Swan, or sir. These things you heard are called rumors. They are usually over dramatizations or falsehoods made up by children. If you think for one second I would put my daughter in any kind of danger you have another thing coming. And frankly, I feel safer having my daughter alone with him then I feel with her being around you at all."
"It was not children I heard these things from, sir." Edward barely held back a sneer.
"Is that a fact? Who did you hear these things from?"
"School faculty. You see, I have every reason to believe my girlfriend is in danger being around him." He said smugly.
"Is that a fact? Well I assure you as Bella's father, My daughter is not in any danger. She will also not be seeing you for a while."
"You can't do that." Edward said at the same time Bella said. "Dad, that's not fair."
"I assure you I can." He told Edward, then to Bella he said. "As for you, don't give me trouble about this or I won't let you see any of their family."
Charlie had to threaten to arrest Edward before he finally stormed off.
Jacob and Bella left soon after Charlie did.
"About my boyfriend. He wasn't trying to offend you. He's just over protective." Bella didn't know why she felt the need to explain Edward.
"No, he's controlling."
"No he's not. Really, he's just protective."
"Sure, sure." Jake said letting her know he was done with this conversation.
"Why did you do that yesterday." Bella asked.
Jacob lifted an eyebrow.
"You acted like you didn't want to drive me. You took the heat off of me."
He shrugged one shoulder.
Bella wanted to ask him if he really could not recall Lauren's name. She wanted to ask what exactly it was the girl knew. She couldn't, not without giving herself away.
She settled for saying. "Well, thanks."
Pulling up to the school they could see Charlie's cruiser. Dread filled Bella. Was he here about Edward? Was he going to make the staff tell him if they saw them together. Her father couldn't be that mad. He had to understand Edward didn't have all the facts. He was just trying to protect her.
"Fuck." Jacob cursed. He parked his truck then pressed his palms into his eyes, taking deep breaths.
Charlie was coming out of the school. He walked up to the truck and opened the driver side door.
"Jake, I want you to tell me if anyone gives you trouble. Anyone. You hear?"
Jacob stared straight ahead. He nodded.
"Oh, no. You started using your words and you're going to keep using them. Now do you understand?"
"Yes." He said through gritted teeth.
"And you." Charlie directed to Bella. "You stay away from that pompous little shit. Remember I have eyes everywhere."
He pointed two fingers to his eyes then to her and back to his eyes.
"I'll see you two at home directly after school." He said then walked away.
Jacob took a deep breath in then let it out slowly, closing his eyes tight he did it again.
Before they were even in the school Edward was on them. He grabbed Bellas upper arm and pulled her away from Jacob.
"I won't stand for this. I won't allow him to keep us apart." Edward said forcefully.
"Edward, he's my father. There is nothing you can do. Please don't make things worse." Bella begged.
Edward looked over at Jacob and sneered. "He is putting your life in danger."
"No, Edward he's not. Jacob isn't dangerous. Look do you remember what we talked about yesterday. How if you want us to work you need to listen to me too. I need you to listen to me now. Jacob is not dangerous. He will not cause me harm. You have to let this go now. Okay?"
He reluctantly nodded then looked over at Jacob. The other boy was leaning against the wall waiting on Bella. Edward grabbed the back of her head and kissed her with more force than ever before. He glared over at Jacob one more time before leaving.
Jacob chuckled and shook his head. "You could tell your boyfriend I'm not trying to steal you away. He doesn't have to eat your face."
Bella ducked her head blushing.
