AN: Enjoy!
Thanks to Billy's adorable and irresistible intervention in the matter, Wanda, Vision, and Steve were able to take Bucky home. Billy became extra attached to his Uncle Bucky over the following few days, as if trying to make sure Bucky knew that he was not upset with him, or otherwise damaged by the Nightmare they had accidentally shared.
Soon, however, it was time for Wanda, Vision, and the twins to depart the Avengers Compound. They'd already ended up staying quite a bit longer than they expected. While they loved spending time with their friends at the compound, they were beginning to miss the sweet little cottage that they called home, and they had Wedding planning to get done.. That, and there was really only so long they could keep a child like Tommy out of trouble in a place like the compound, no matter how many pairs of eyes were committed to watching him.
So, after farewelling their friends, the young family packed up their things and embarked on the long drive back to the Barton property.
In the days after they had returned home, Wanda tried to commit herself to Wedding planning. She'd ordered in nearly every Wedding magazine that she could find, combing through them for ideas.
She was excited, of course. Nearly every little girl in the history of the world grew up dreaming of their Wedding day. However, she was also, maybe, just a little overwhelmed by the prospect of it all. There was just so much to organise. After the visit to the Avengers compound, Wanda and Vision had their wedding party sorted out. Natasha was going to be her Maid of Honour, with Carol and Hope as Bridesmaids, Peter was going to be Vision's Best Man. Clint would walk Wanda down the aisle and give her away.. But that was about all they had, as far as planning went.
They still had to decide on a date, the location, flowers, food, finalising a guest list.. And, Wanda thought to herself, sighing, those were just the things Vision could help her with. There was quite a lot more that she would have to decide on her own, and since Vision was out today, helping Clint fix the Barton Family's pig-pen, this was the perfect time to decide them. Things like make-up, how she would wear her hair, and most importantly, a dress.
As Wanda had quite quickly noticed, a lot of the content of the magazines she had ordered consisted of dresses. Some bridesmaid dresses, but mostly bridal gowns, in varying different styles. Some with long trains, others with large skirts. Most long hemmed, some slightly shorter. Short, puffed sleeves, or long ones. Usually the traditional white, but here and there, a few other colour options crept in. Did Wanda want to be traditional? Did she want a veil? Traditionally, veils were for virgin brides (which Wanda certainly wasn't, the two definitive pieces of proof of her not-virginity toddling about a playpen a few metres away from her), but she knew a lot of women chose to wear them anyway.
She really needed some form of advice on the matter. This, of course, was usually the realm of a Maid of Honour, but unfortunately, Wanda had already let Nat off the hook regarding many of the usual MoH duties considering her often busy schedule. Carol, if it was possible, was often even more busy, and not really a 'ruffles and frills' type of girl, so she'd probably be even more lost than Wanda was. Of her wedding party, that just left Hope, who, while she would have been happy to help, was currently away on a trip to reconnect with her Mother, Janet, so Wanda didn't want to disturb her.
Wanda sighed, taking one of her magazines and kneeling down near the playpen.
"Okay, Baietii mei pretiosi, I need your help" She smiled. "Do you think Mama should wear a veil when she marries Daddy?" Both boys looked at her, little brows crinkled in confusion. Tommy's more so, because he hadn't really been paying as much attention to his Mother's words. Wanda sighed, reaching out to ruffle the twins hair. "It's okay, Mama will work it out.."
At that moment, Wanda heard a knock at the door. She knew that it couldn't be Vision, since even if he forgot his key, he could have just phased inside. Getting up to answer it, she was slightly surprised to find Laura standing there, seeming a little like a grown up Red Riding Hood since she was clutching a basket full of baked goods.
"Hey, Wanda" She smiled and held up the basket. "I forgot Vision didn't eat, so I made too many muffins.. Would you and the boys like some?"
"Hmm, let's see.." Wanda smiled, stepping aside to let Laura in. "Tommy, Billy, would you like one of Auntie Laura's muffins?"
"Ya! Muffin!" Tommy sped over excitedly, little blue eyes lighting up.
Billy's eyes lit up for a different reason, and he happily waved.
"Hi, Ani' Lawa!"
"Hello, sweetie" Laura grinned, waving back.
"Come through to the kitchen" said Wanda, "I'll get some plates.."
Laura followed, her eyes falling on the many open wedding magazines.
"Choosing a dress?"
"Yeah.. been a bit of a pain, actually" Wanda paused. "What do you think of veils? I know they're traditionally for virgins.."
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that" Laura chuckled. "I had one, but I definitely wasn't.. Cooper arrived just under eight months after Clint and I got married."
"Really?"
"Mmhm.. Don't tell my Mother if you ever meet her, we convinced her he was just early."
"Your secret is safe with me" Wanda laughed, fetching a few plates from the cupboard. "So, do you think I need a veil, then? I'm kind of on the fence about it.."
"That decision is really up to you, Honey. Just pick the dress that feels best for you, veil or not."
"I'm not sure that any of those dresses are really 'me'" Wanda sighed, glancing back over at the magazines.
"Well.." said Laura after a pause, "Living this far out, I've had to get pretty good with a sewing machine.. if you can think of a design that is you, maybe I can see what I can do.."
Wanda's eyes widened.
"You'd do that?"
"Well, I can try.. every girl deserves to feel beautiful on their special day."
"That would be wonderful!" Wanda set the plates aside so she could hug Laura. "Thank you."
"You're welcome" Laura replied with a smile, returning Wanda's hug.
Some situations just needed a Mother's touch.
