AN: Enjoy!
Clint liked Vision. Really, he did. Vision never failed to be polite, and friendly. Laura liked him, and he was good with the kids, especially since he'd had his own. Vision could pick up Thor's damn magic hammer, which proved that there was something extra specially good about him.
And Clint could kind of see why, he could. Like he said, he liked Vision.
But Clint loved Wanda. The Dad in him couldn't help still seeing her as the frightened girl in the crumbling building, the girl who was afraid of the things she could do. Clint knew Wanda wasn't that girl anymore. She was a woman, a Mother. She was about to be married.
Wanda clearly loved Vision, and Vision loved Wanda.
But Clint, just a little bit protective, sometimes wondered if Vision knew exactly what marriage meant. So, he may have a slight ulterior motive when he asked Vision over to help repair the pig-pen. Of course, Laura had been on to him, and had told him to go easy, because Vision was a sweetheart. What did she think he was going to do. He genuinely needed help, getting those pigs into their temporary pen before they repaired the main one was a two-man job. And yeah, he may have riled them up a little before Vision arrived, but that was no big deal, really. The animals definitely weren't as agile as they had been when they were piglets and had escaped during a rainstorm.. now that had been hard work, that day, it had taken the combined efforts of Clint, Vision, Cooper, and Lila nearly an hour to catch the wayward porkers.
Today, it had only taken Vision 25 minutes to round them up, while Clint had wandered off to find his misplaced tools. He definitely hadn't left Vision alone to deal with the pigs on purpose. No, not at all! The whole purpose of Vision's visit, after all, was to repair the pig-pen, and those repairs couldn't happen without tools. Besides, Vision hadn't even broken a sweat.
Even so, Laura had given him a warning look when he returned with the tools, after finding Vision alone when she came out to let them know that she was walking down to the cottage to give Wanda and the twins some muffins.
Clint huffed a little at the look. He hadn't done anything wrong.
And he continued not doing anything wrong throughout the day. It just made sense that Vision did all the heavy lifting when it came to the repairs, as his density increasing abilities made it easy.
Clint kept a close eye on Vision throughout the work, and after a while, Vision noticed.
"Clint.." Vision turned to him, setting down the plank of wood he had currently been carrying, "You have been giving me strange looks all day, and I can't help but wonder.. is there something wrong?"
"No" said Clint quickly, and though he and Vision were the only people in the immediate vicinity, Clint felt strangely ganged up on. "Uh.. have you and Wanda set a date for the wedding yet?"
"Not quite, although we are narrowing it down" Vision replied, a goofy grin crossing his face at the thought of his upcoming nuptials. "We're leaning towards an outdoor ceremony, so it will most likely be in Spring or early Summer.."
"Right, that sounds nice.. and uh, how are you feeling about it all?"
"I believe Wanda is a little stressed with some of the planning" Vision admitted. "But other than that, I think we are both rather excited."
"I meant how are you feeling.. You specifically" Clint pressed him. "No cold feet? Nerves about being tied down?"
"I love Wanda" Vision frowned, narrowing his eyes slightly at Clint. "We have two beautiful children. I do not look at marrying her as being 'tied down'. She is the only woman I want to be with. That will never change."
"I only meant.. Marriage can be hard work, you know. You can't change your mind, or run away if things get difficult.."
"If either of us had done that, Wanda and I wouldn't be together now. Our relationship began while she was on the run, but we survived. We made it work, because we loved each other. Wanda's pregnancy was unexpected, but we survived that too, and now we have our beautiful boys.."
"Okay.." Clint felt rather sheepish now. "You make some very good points.."
Vision's expression softened.
"It's alright." Vision's expression softened. "You only worry because you care about her, and that could never be a bad thing.. Wanda is lucky to have you."
"You think so?"
"I do."
"Even when I'm being a bit of an ass?"
"Even then."
"Well.. thanks" Clint managed a smile. "I think Wanda and the boys are pretty lucky to have you too, Vision."
"I hope so.. I do my best."
"I can see that.. I'm sorry I worked you so hard Today."
"What?" Vision was confused.
"You know.." said Clint. "With the pigs, and doing all the heavy lifting with the pen.."
"Oh.. oh that? You were worried about that?" Vision burst out laughing, and since he rarely laughed so freely in front of anyone but Wanda or his children, Clint was a little taken aback by the sound.
"What? What's so funny?"
"Clint, I didn't even realise you were intentionally trying to work me hard.. The heavy lifting is easy for me, I just assumed that that's what I was here for."
"Oh.." Clint blushed a little. "Well, now I feel really stupid."
Vision only laughed louder, picking up the plank he had earlier set aside.
"No harm done. Now, how about we get this pen finished for you before the pigs get antsy and try to escape their temporary lodgings."
"Yeah, good plan.. You need help with that plank?"
"Not really.. but if helping makes you feel better, by all means.."
"You're funny" Clint chuckled, moving to help. "When did you learn to be funny?"
"I have always been funny" Vision grinned. "Just ask Wanda.."
