I don't own Naruto, there that's my disclaimer.
(Sorry for not posting last week. I ended up sick and not able to get out of bed, not wanted to post a chapter without editing it. It was held up a week so any finishing touches could be done. Please look forward to it and give it lots of love. Be safe ~DQ)
The two other occupants were surprised at Tsunade, were they really going to let them get away with it that easily. "If he fights with us, will they keep him out of prison?"
"Yes, however, he will have a long road ahead of him before he is a ninja of this village again," Tsunade answered
"I don't know if he will, the information he gave us was because he wanted to talk to me. Plus, won't the curse mark cause more issues?"
"No, I permanently sealed it. You have until this afternoon to convince him." Tsunade spoke, taking her leave
Sakura looked at Naruto, seeing the face he was making. "Baa-chan was serious. We have to convince him!"
"Convince who and of what dobe?" Sasuke asked being pushed in by Ino
Jumping off the bed, definitely with no grace, Naruto met Sasuke. Ino shook her head, leaving the trio. She saw what Naruto did and she didn't want to be around to be a witness to what happened after. Growling, the pain from jarred ribs was not what Sakura wanted or needed. As always Naruto paid no heed to what had happened, his focus on Sasuke.
"For you to fight for Kohona like you should've been doing! You have to fight against that snake-bastard!" Naruto nearly shouted
"Hn," Sasuke answered, waiting to see what Sakura's next move was. He could see the pain on her face
"That's not an answer Teme!"
"Naruto." Growling out his name, he took no notice moving back to the bed. "Did you move wrong Sakura-chan?"
Grabbing his coat, she pulled him close. "You will not sit on this bed again, is that clear?"
Watching him nod, "I have four broken ribs, being as you don't seem to ever have to deal with the pain you don't understand the pain you caused."
"I'm sorry!" Naruto spoke bashfully, glad that Sakura released him. Watching him move back to the chair beside Sasuke, she focused on another rib. She could feel the boys watching the healing process, or what they could see of it. Pushing the limit wasn't helping the pain at all, slowly receding her external efforts, she went back to her body doing its thing.
"How are you?" Sakura asked, directing the question at Sasuke
"Better, I heard I have you to thank for saving my life."
"It's my job." Sakura shrugged, instantly regretting her decision. Even more when she saw the Uchiha smirk
"So, are the two of you not mad at each other anymore?" Naruto asked, confused about their interaction
"Hn."
"Teme! Stop that shit! It's not even an understandable answer!" Naruto shouted pointing at him
"Hn," Sasuke smirked
Sending what he could of a glare at the teme, he turned to the other one who might give him an answer. "Sakura-chan?"
"No, we're good." Giving a soft smile, while Sasuke held onto his trademark smirk
"They wouldn't tell me why you were here, what happened?" Sasuke asked, moving from joking to stoic. Hearing Naruto say something about how rude he always was to him.
"Kabuto. He entered the Hyuga compound and attacked. I drew him away." Watching Sasuke's features go from stoic to dark within seconds
"It was a plan." Announcing to the two in the room
"One they knew would work; they knew I'd heal you. No matter my feelings for you, it's in my nature. The one thing that they did not plan for was the fact I would put up a fight that Kabuto was not prepared for. One that he would run from, but now they know what I can do."
"You kick ass!" Naruto spoke
"You've said that a couple of times now," Sakura spoke, glad that her friend was still optimistic about her
"So, Sasuke. Are you going to fight with us against your former mentor or are you going to rot in a jail cell?"
Sasuke made his way over to the bed, Naruto eyeing him ready to pounce between them. "Hn. You're still annoying." Sasuke grabbed her hand gently, throwing Naruto for a loop
"You're still a bastard."
"I will fight by your side in the upcoming fight."
"When did you two become-."
"Shut-up dobe, she doesn't love me anymore. She's moved on." Sasuke spoke softly, earning confused looks from the other occupants of the room. Naruto was the one that was confused the most, everything that had happened in the last few minutes was too much. Sasuke took his hand back not before giving it a gentle squeeze. Sakura closed her eyes, her concentration back on her ribs. The room quieted down, and everyone finally relaxed.
The knocking on the door startled all of them, their eyes opening. Naruto was up in a fighting stance as Sakura called a come-in, Neji walked in smirking. "You don't learn."
"Nope." Sakura smiled, "If you can't tell if you weren't a friend my guard would've gotten you."
Shaking his head at the pink-haired women's antics "How are you feeling?" Moving to stand at the footboard
"I'm getting there, I'm down to having three ribs left to heal."
"Don't drain yourself," Neji spoke, his voice bordering on stern
Smirking at his tone, it was the ANBU tone he used on her when he frequented the hospital. "I won't, for the most part, my body is doing it. I'm just giving it the assistance it needs. Truthfully, all I care about is the pain is more manageable." Watching him nod in approval, Sakura watched him take in the other two males in the room. Wondering what he was thinking looking at their group. Was it the possibility that they were all so different and yet they somehow managed to work together?
"Sakura-chan, how much longer do you have to work at the hospital?" Naruto broke up the silence
"I could have stopped about eight months ago. Now, with this hiatus, I've realized how much I miss missions. I believe that I can be done if I want, I will have to assign someone else the job. I could work here when not on missions or even in emergencies such as now. If I wasn't a patient." Sakura answered
"You'll come back?" Naruto asked, excitement pouring from him
"Yes, I will. It will have to be after my current mission."
"That's great! It just sucks, Sai is going back to solo missions. He told Kakashi that the day you came to spar with us! He even has a girlfriend! Can you believe that?"
"We can do it with a three-man squad." Sakura smiled, glad to see that her decision was happily approved
"What about teme?!" Naruto asked
"I'm a wanted ninja, dobe. I'll be banned from missions for a while."
"Not to mention you're still a genin," Neji smirked in his direction
Sasuke sent him a glare, "Thanks Hyuga, I'd completely forgotten that detail." He spoke dryly
"Welcome, Uchiha." Pausing the conversation, "You'll be under house arrest for a while too." Neji pointed out too, enjoying torturing the Uchiha
"Hyuga-." Sasuke started, waiting for him to look at him, "Shut up."
Watching both boys smirk at each other made Sakura laugh, causing them to look at her. "Sorry, you two are being ridiculous."
Closing her eyes, hearing the silence. Feeling content with the three of them, the pain was slowly starting to diminish. Upon opening her eyes, her room had shuffled. Sasuke was still there, just now in a bed. Neji had taken Naruto's seat next to the bed, leaning back either napping or meditating. Naruto was sitting between the two beds, clearly napping by the drool on his chin. Looking over to Neji, his eyes open looking at her.
"Good afternoon," Neji spoke softly
"How long was I asleep?" She asked
"A day."
"Damn. Why did they put you in here?" Sakura turned to ask the Uchiha, who was clearly awake
"Consolidation, easier to move me if needed," Sasuke answered, not caring if he was quiet or not
"There's been more movement?" Sakura asked, even though she knew the answer
"Yes," Neji answered this time around.
Checking her ribs, all but one was fully healed. The pain was no longer there, grabbing the iv that was doing no good and took that out. At that moment Naruto woke up trying to figure out what was happening. Making sure the ties for the gown were tied, Sakura threw her legs to the side of the bed. Hearing the protesting begin, she stood tall.
"I have one rib left, there is little to no pain left. Being head medic, I have to make sure they don't need anything. I have to gather what is necessary for the packs from my office."
"How am I supposed to guard both of you," Naruto whined
"Neji will come with me." Sakura smiled turning to him, volunteering him
"Tsunade-baa-chan won't like this!" Naruto spoke arms crossed
"Naruto this is something I have to do," Sakura spoke, pulling a pair of scrub pants on from the bathroom.
"Fine. I know you have to, only if I hear Neji agree to help you." Naruto smirked, fully expecting the Hyuga to decline
"Of course, I will."
Naruto was shocked to hear it. Watching Sakura nod to them, they left the room quickly. "I didn't think he'd agree. He's a bastard like you teme!"
"It changes someone."
"What?" Naruto turned to look at the Uchiha
"Hn," Sasuke smirked
Going to her office first, Neji was yet again told to close the door and remain turned around. Changing into her Jōnin outfit, she'd put it on once when she got it. It felt like years, she stayed in her other ninja clothes or her medic uniform. Neji was told he could turn around. Watching on as she started throwing bags out of a closet onto her desk. Moving to take the stock out of her medic closet, putting saliva, grouped packages of pill packs, bandages, and other necessities that she'd rehearsed many times into these small packs. After several packs were done, she started handing them to Neji to hold on to while she filled more.
Being satisfied that she'd created enough, closing and placing a sealing jutsu on her cabinet. Neji looked on confused. "There are only five people that can open that if it comes to it. That way all the work that has gone into creating this system isn't lost."
"Makes sense." It was time to take their packs to the floors. Finding those in charge and then to different nurses, their packs were dwindling.
"Yamanaka!" Sakura spoke just above a speaking tone
"Sakura, what the hell are you doing out of bed?!" Ino rushed at her
"I'm healed up, don't worry. I've already begun to store energy, being as I am capable of doing my tasks as the head medic; I am. These are go-packs as you know, there are three here one for you and two nurses of your choosing. I've already gotten them to the other levels, they stay on you at all times from here on out. I found out that we're in a grey status, I assume you understand that?" Getting a nod, "Good. Just be prepared to go to black status at any given moment. After this, I want to talk to you about promoting you to my position." Sakura spoke in her assertive voice, one that Neji was impressed with. It sent shivers down his spine, something about hearing her bossy was attractive.
"Hai, Hurano-san," Ino spoke, rushing off
"Now." Sakura shifted, "Here is yours. The same goes for you."
"Give it to someone else, I don't need it." Beginning back to Sakura's room
"I made it for you, please take it." Sighing at the woman next to him, her pleading tone hit something in him
"Fine." He held his hand out for them, having her place a smaller bag in his hand
"I know you travel light; it has the absolute essentials only."
"Arigotō."
The rest of their walk consisted of checking on patients and how the progress of moving them was going. Having a standard that she set not only for herself but also set for the hospital as well. With everything up to par, their venture ended them back to the room.
Entering the room, Sakura threw the last bags at the two boys. Telling them they would keep it on them, no matter what. Neither daring to protest, she was in her bossy mood. Sasuke knew from what Naruto said that you didn't fight her, even Kakashi listened.
Moving to look out the window at the village, tense and overthinking Sakura couldn't find a happy medium. The vendors weren't out, and shops were closed. It looked like a ghost town. With no one else doing anything, Neji made his way to the women looking out the window. His arm brushed hers, to make sure she knew he was there. "You need to relax some."
Rolling her eyes at him, "How? Our home could be attacked at any moment."
"You know too much tension, could cause you to lose focus. Just remember what we've been working on, you'll do fine. Like always." Neji bumped her this time, laying her head against his shoulder and watching out the window
Taking a moment to take a deep breath, she closed her eyes trying to relax even a little bit. Neji moved his arm around her waist, taking this moment to try and help her feel better. Feeling her shoulders relax, it was working. Looking at the clock, it was time that he had to go take a watch.
"I have to go take over a watch. Be careful, I'll be back after okay?"
Sakura nodded, "You be careful too. I can't give you all my attention if you get hurt like you tend to."
"Ouch, that hurt coming from my medic. I guess I'll have to do my best to not get hurt, being as if it is only a watch."
Sakura laughed, feeling him move from her side. "Neji?" Watching him pause. Sakura moved over to him, pulling him into a tight hug. Feeling him pull her tight, made her feel even just a smidgen better. Pulling away from her, he offered a small smile before taking his leave. Moving her arms around herself, trying to not worry about him knowing that there were many others she should be worrying about.
"Sakura?" Naruto's questioning voice brought her back to the room
Turning, "Yeah Naruto?"
Watching her face for anything, "Do you like him?"
Her lips moved before she could think, forming a small smile. "I don't know."
"I haven't seen you like this before. Sure, you hug us, I've never seen you hug anyone outside of team seven."
"I hug a bunch of people." Sakura rolled her eyes, moving back to the window watching over the village. Naruto watched his friend, not sure what to think.
Time dragged, closing in on the midnight hour. Sakura checked on Naruto and Sasuke, both sound asleep. Naruto used her bed for some sleep, as Sakura couldn't calm her nerves enough to sleep. Leaving the room, she moved to the different floors. Checking in with everyone, reassured her that everything was going according to plan. Finding Ino, Sakura approached her.
"How's it going?" Sakura asked softly
"Last I heard, there hasn't been movement in the last two hours. Everyone is ready to move through the tunnels. Elders, citizens, and kids are already safe there." Ino answered just as soft
"Good job. Have you had sleep?"
"Here and there. Now that we've moved the patients that can't be moved quickly, we're all sleeping on a three-hour rotation. You?"
"None."
"Go ahead, I'll wake you when I go-."
"No, I'm fine."
"Okay," Ino spoke ready to retreat, knowing that she couldn't speak to her as she had previously. "Were you serious about promoting me?"
"Yes, I was."
"Okay, I understand that when you are here you will outrank me here."
"It's not about ranking anymore. I want to go back out and do missions again. If you don't want it, I'll find someone else."
"No, I do. I'm just surprised with everything that happened between us."
"What happens outside of the hospital stays there. Here we are fellow medics, out there it's clear that we're just not meant to be friends. That is something I can respect."
"I am sorry for how I spoke to you."
Sakura sighed, "What's done is done."
"I don't know what came over me, I really am." Ino tried, "Is there any way we can start over?"
"From where? There has never been stability after our rivalry started." Sakura started,
"Why should we continue something that always seems to fail?"
Watching the girl before her sigh, knowing what Sakura spoke was true. "I guess you're right. Maybe someday we can be more than just two shinobis."
Not knowing what to say to her, Sakura just gave a quick nod. Just standing listening to the sounds of the hospital. Ino leaned against the opposite wall, neither wanting to move. Baskin in the serenity that the hospital had. Sakura snapped her head toward the front of the hospital, it was faint, but it was there. "Ino, go black status. They're almost here."
"How do you-." Ino stood staring
"GO!" Sakura barked
Watching her get moving, Sakura started to her room barking orders to those around her. Getting to her room she slammed the doors open waking the two boys. Naruto on his feet, Sakura moved to Sasuke who watched her every move. Watching him sit up, throwing his legs over the bed.
"You better not have been fooling us all. If I let you go, you better fight with us." Sakura warned
"I will be by your side the whole time," Sasuke answered, allowing Sakura to take off the chakra repressing cuffs
"They're almost here, you have to help me move the last of the patients," Sakura spoke
"Sakura-chan," Naruto whined, wanting to get to the battle
"Now." Sakura hissed, silencing Naruto immediately.
Moving quickly, they helped the last patients to the tunnel entrance allowing Ino to do what she had to. Rushing back through the hospital, Sakura led them to the roof to see what was happening. Finding Neji and his team watching in the distance. Noticing Sakura and her two companions, he walked over to them.
"They're almost here," Neji announced
"I heard that," Sakura replied
"How did you hear them? I barely could." Sasuke asked
"It was training I went through. I was blindfolded for some time."
"Ah."
Watching Neji's face turn to concentrate, his hand moving to the earbud. "Hospital clear?"
"Hai," Sakura answered, with Neji relaying the information
"Once here, get them out or take them out. We don't know what to expect." Neji announced relaying the new message, dropping his hand. Watching everyone nod in understanding, Neji's team stood ahead of them. Watching him go into his pocket, "Hiashi-san brought these to you. He wanted to get the blood out of them."
"Thank you." Sakura went to grab her gloves, in turn, Neji grabbed her hand. Having a hold of them, he squeezed them before allowing her to take the gloves. He'd hoped that she understood that he just wanted her to stay safe. Watching her smile softly, he took that as an understanding. Slipping her gloves on, she peered around Neji. Seeing and then hearing Oro and his minions coming into view. One last look at one another, the fight began.
Being bombarded on the roof felt exhilarating. Fighting alongside her teammates and Neji, they seemed to work well together. Sakura was glad that she could start using some of her newly acquired tricks. It worked well to block some of the sound's attacks. Sasuke was true to his word, staying right beside her. Giving her assistance when she needed it, and likewise for him. They slowly started making their way closer to the main battle, with the hospital finally clear they moved on to the next place they were needed.
Trying to keep tabs on what was happening, Oro was on his snake while Kabuto was fighting against Tsunade. Being Oro's arms, brutal as ever. Seeing that her mentor wasn't faring well between Kabuto and Manda. Sakura couldn't believe her eyes, her mentor slowing down.
Feeling someone behind her, startled her. Swinging a chakra fist around, it was deterred before it hit.
"Sakura, we're after sound. Not each other." Kakashi spoke
"Damn it Kakashi! Don't do shit like that during battle!" Sakura reprimanded the man
"Hokage-sama needs our help." He spoke, ignoring her annoyed look
"Hai!" Everyone announced ready to respond
"Let's kick ass!" Naruto yelled, enthusiastically.
"How are we entering Hatake?" Neji asked
"Sakura, you're going to give us a cover. Naruto, you and I are going in after. Sasuke you stay with Sakura. Neji you follow keeping anyone away from us, then join us." Kakashi spoke, going silent. Tsunade went flying back through one of the buildings, waiting to see if she came out. Sakura started running, not waiting for Kakashi to give the order. Sakura moved to intercept Oro's snake, building her chakra. Getting the clearance, Sakura leaped down taking the velocity from the fall and putting everything into this. Giving her fellow shinobis the break they needed. Watching the ground crumble, creating the necessary distraction. Watching Naruto and Kakashi jump by, with Naruto spewing out something about not ever pissing her off. Looking to make sure that they had the help they needed, before looking at the hole her mentor made.
Getting up, she rushed through the tunnel that was created. In the end, just before the mountainside. Seeing her mentor there, with Shizune over top of her. Sasuke wasn't far behind her, stopping seeing all the blood. Sakura asked what was happening, it was as if Shizune didn't even hear her. It was clear she wasn't handling the situation. She was first on the scene and had the most information out of anyone else, Sakura needed it.
"Report!" Sakura spoke harshly, hoping to get Shizune out of her daze. She wasn't sure she could do this alone. "Come on Shizune! Report!"
"Right, yes. Internal injuries, the extent unknown right now. External, severe. She is currently in a gen-jutsu, one that I can't break at this time."
"Good, I will begin on her chest. You work on her abdomen. Sasuke you need to use a cleansing jutsu, watch me then you can do it yourself." Earning a nod, he activated the Sharingan mimicking Sakura.
Watching Sakura pull a scroll out of her pack, it had numerous medical tools. Turning away from what was happening before him, he couldn't wait for this to be over. Trying to push the battle out of her mind, she pushed as much as possible. Feeling her heart shredding each time she healed one section of it. Finally, with the heart healed she moved on, not understanding how she'd gotten this much damage.
"They are the new sound wounds I was telling you about. She probably didn't notice until it was too late, probably just as they were dealing with the last move. If they get a hit in, no matter if it is small or large, it can cause this sort of damage." Sasuke noted loud enough for Sakura to hear him, he could hear Sakura speaking to herself or even to Shizune.
"Her heart was shredding, each time I mended it'd start shredding somewhere else," Sakura answered
"It was the same down here, I've healed the major damage. At least it's to the point where she is stable enough to move, we have to reserve some of our chakra for others."
"At least, for now, her body can take over," Sakura spoke, taking a closer look at the blood.
"There is a faint poison in her blood system, that's why her blood is attacking itself."
"Damn, you're better off dealing with the poison," Shizune announced, knowing that Sakura had trained far longer with poisons than she had recently. She'd let her training slide, some new tricks and trades were coming. Ones that Sakura had prepared for and studied.
"Are you sure, I mean you're probably better-."
"Sakura shut up and do the job. I have to get out there, you and I know that. One of us has to go, you're more qualified than I am anymore."
Sakura nodded, watching Shizune stand and then leave. "Argh! Damn it, Sasuke get down here I'm going to need your help."
Raising an eyebrow at the girl, he had no medical knowledge nor cared for it. However, he listened to her moving to reside in the place the other women had been. Having him hold numerous vials with different substances in them, he only knew they were different due to the names. He watched as Sakura started to extract some of the poison out of her sensei's system. She started to place the poisoned blood into different vials and then started to mix them.
Feeling the rocks around them shake, they saw Naruto roll in. Sakura tried to not focus on him, it was hard not to. "Sorry 'bout rolling in, how's baa-chan?"
"Almost stable. How's the fight?"
"They're a bunch of bastards."
"How's Neji?" Sakura asked before she thought about it
"Stubborn bastard like always. Gotta go!"
Sakura sighed; that didn't tell her anything about his condition! "Naruto's right, he's stubborn."
"That doesn't keep you out of harm's way."
Sasuke rolled his eyes; she might not have been clingy like she used to be. She cared just as much as before; it was annoying. Yet now he could comprehend why she acted the way she did.
"Stop staring at me." Sakura expressed not liking that he was just staring
"Hn." Sasuke shrugged off, looking back to the vials
Finalizing what was needed, Sakura found the cure and administered it. Writing down her findings, she began to pack up. Making sure that anything that wasn't life-threatening was bandaged, it was time to move her.
"It's up to her from here unless there is more damage hiding. We need to move her to the caves; from there we will start going to assess the wounded." Sakura vocalized, pulling out a stretcher from her bag.
Sasuke nodded, amazed at what she could fit in a bag! Fascinated with Sakura's authority, clear this was one area that was enhanced. Sakura had a rationale about her, it screamed obey me. The journey was slow, Sakura in lead. Going the roundabout way, to maneuver around the battle. Seeing the opening Sakura smiled, they were almost there.
"Ino!" Sakura shouted, to be heard over the commotion happening outside
"Sakura, what are you doing? Oh god." Ino stopped seeing the Hokage on the stretcher
"Get her a bed ready, I've done what I can, Shizune helped for a portion before leaving to check out there. The rest is up to her."
"Alright, follow me." Ino led them to avoid the large community of people seeking shelter there
Once to a secluded section, Sakura had Ino help lay their Hokage on the cot. Checking her once more, nothing had reopened and nothing else went wrong.
"Watch her carefully, she also had poison. I created this antidote, it seemed to be effective." Pulling out the directions and another dose of the antidote, "I don't know if it will come back, stray on the side of caution. Check her every ten minutes."
"Okay, I will have a nurse on standby."
"No. You are the one to do it, you are the only person that knows she is in here. I'm trusting you to keep this quiet and keep her safe. When I leave you are top ranking medic-nin, your job is to treat her." Sakura articulated her demands, "I have to get back out there."
"Yes, Hurano-san." Ino nodded
"Don't start the shit. You're the only one I trust in here with our Hokage, don't doubt that."
"Okay."
Sakura pulled out two earpieces, handing one over to the other medic. "If anything goes wrong, call me back."
"You got it. Be safe out there, we haven't heard good things from where the fight is."
Nodding their response, Sasuke kept up with the kunoichi in front of him who was speeding out of the caves. "Where are we going?" questioning the boy
"First to see what is happening at the front, then to the streets to see who needs help."
"Aa."
Navigating the tunnels, Sasuke was amazed at how quickly Sakura moved through them. Leaping out of the cave opening, Sakura started her work. Finding people along the way that needed help, she stopped bleeding, instructing them to move to the hospital. Those that weren't that bad off, she healed quickly instructing them back to battle.
"Can you do that?" Sasuke asked
"Not a clue, if they can be mobile and fight- they have to." Sakura announced, taking down a sound ninja "Damn bastards!"
"You focus on healing; I'll take care of the nuisances."
"That's fine, except for when they appear before me." Unbeknownst to him, she got to demonstrate
"Hn."
"Fuck off," Sakura muttered, moving on to the next ninja finding no pulse
"Don't take out your frustrations on me!"
"I'm not frustrated!" Sakura exclaimed
"The hell you're not. You're good at hiding it, but it doesn't pass by me."
"What the hell am I frustrated with then, all-seeing Sasuke?" Stopped to heal a leg injury, then pointed them to the hospital. Breaks were not part of trauma, with them requiring too much chakra to fix them.
"You're worried and frustrated that you can't be in the thick of it," Sasuke spoke, deflecting an attack
"I'm fine," Sakura spoke
Making their way toward the battle, Sakura saw other medics out there working on others. Taking this moment to get a better look at what was happening. Oro was back beyond the wall of the village, yet the destruction was phenomenal. A third of the village was in a rumble, everything would have to be built back up. Watching a moment longer she saw the familiar figure come flying back into the village.
"Neji!" Sakura went to jump
"You can't, they're here for you now." Sasuke stopped the girl from leaving her spot
"I can't leave him injured. He might need me." Sakura tried to pull her arm from him
"Others need you too medic." Sasuke spoke softly, "However, I think after it's all said and done you can heal him."
Pointing in the direction, Sakura looked to see what was going on. Seeing him back up, going back to join the battle. Gave Sakura reassurance that he was okay, at least for now. "Why don't you go join them?" Sakura stated
"I told you I'd stay by your side, that's what I'm going to do. You need backup. If they want you, they have to come through me."
"I can tell you're itching to fight."
"Yeah, so are you." Sasuke pointed out
Rolling her eyes, she took one last look at the battle and then went back to finding those to help. Checking on the younger medics, they were doing a great job. There were some fatalities, however, they were considerably lower than what they would have been ten years ago. No one from rookie nine or team guy's team seemed to have fallen or gotten injured. That helped ease the nerves Sakura felt.
After almost six hours, it sounded like the battle was finally a good distance from Konoha. Sakura could barely hear the battle. Taking this time to move those that had fallen and needed medical treatment to the hospital, Sasuke provided help where needed. Sakura found Shizune doing the same, before having Sakura stay at the hospital and begin healing those.
Sakura was bossy and demanded Sasuke to do many things, things that were revolting to him. He hated blood and yet here he was holding bandages on an exposed shoulder. Watching Sakura heal the chest of the boy. He couldn't wait for this to be over, hoping that everything he did while helping the medic counted towards whatever sentence they placed him on. After those that needed healing were resting comfortably, the medics waited on the next group to come in. More importantly, a pink-haired Kunoichi waited for her family and a particular person to come back.
