Betty Goes To College
One day, Betty Quinlan was sitting on her bed when suddenly, she got the urge to paint her nails. She got up, got the polish and sat back on the bed. "Hello." A mysterious voice said "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" she yelled as she fell off the bed, nail polish and all. "Who the heck are you?" she asked. "I'm Dean Cane and you are eligible to matriculate." the mysterious voice said. "Matricu-WHAT?". "Matriculate. Matriculate to college. So what do you say?". "Yes!" replied Betty. Dean Cane smiled. "Good. Then I will see you there."
Betty invited everyone she knew to have lunch together to announce the big news. "Brittany, Carl, Cindy, Courtney, Jimmy, Libby, Oleander, Sheen, and Tina Sue, I have an announcement." She took a deep breath. "I'm going to college." She said calmly. 'Are you kidding! " everyone laughed. Betty was angry. "I'LL SHOW YOU!" she stormed off.
In the fall, Betty went off to college. "What are you doing here, you dork?" said one girl. "You're not smart enough to be in college". "Move it!" another girl said and pushed Betty off the chair. After this happened, her ankle felt bruised, so she went to the school's Health Services Office. Later, she came into a student orientation meeting sporting with an icepack. Dean Cane was talking about classes. "Dean Cane!" Betty shouted out. "Is there a class on Flirting 101?" the class laughed.
Later, they talked about a project called Lizard Cloning. "We could name the lizard Liz and the cloned one Zard ." The class laughed. Since she had been a distraction to the class, Dean Cane was going to send Betty out, but no one wanted her to go. She's hilarious!
The college was having soccer tryouts. Betty tried out for goalie but all the balls just flew past her into the net. "QUINLAN!" yelled Dean Cane. "You were supposed to block the ball!" "I thought that was what the net was for. " In a later class, Dean Cane was talking about graphs in advanced math studies class and one girl was passing notes to her friend. "That looks like Pac Man, doesn't it?" the note said "Yo, Betty! Pass that to Emma!" she whispered . Instead of passing it to Emma, she read it. "I love that game!' she yelled in class. Everyone laughed. Betty ran to her room bursting in tears.
Later that day, Dean Cane went to see Betty to find what was the matter. He knocked on the door of her dorm room. "Come in." said Betty. "Everyone laughed when I told them I was matricu-whatevering. They still are!" Betty said. "People just couldn't imagine you in college, but you could've showed you're ready for it by not belittling yourself."
Later, in science lab, someone put too much solution in the experiment and caused a bubbly mess. The way this experiment worked, you needed to find the right solution the first time, or it'd become worse. Betty got the experiment right on the first try. She did it so well, she was put on a TV program that featured excellent new students. When all of her friends saw her on TV, they never again doubted her intelligence.
