I wanted to mention last time, I've gone back to adjust some of the previous chapters. Patch up some spelling issues and fix some glaring plot holes (Like the drinking contest in Whiskey Peak) so hopefully over time I can make the start of this story more in line with my current standards as opposed to those I had when I had just started writing fanfiction.

Monet's POV

When we arrived at the shores of Whole Cake Island, we split into two groups, Wyper, Brook and Pedro took the submarine in order to infiltrate and steal a copy of the Poneglyph while the rest of us remained behind to pick up Sanji.

"I do hope he doesn't mind me joining while he was gone." I said.

"You're a woman, he'll be thrilled." Nami sighed.

"Did you change outfits."

"I picked it up town what do you think?" she asked spinning around in a red and white dress.

"I don't quite understand fashion it seems." I said "I mostly wear shirts and basic pants with a lab coat."

"Yeah and it's super frumpy." She pouted "You totally need a makeover. You have such natural beauty you shouldn't be afraid to show it off."

"I think I'll stick to my own style but thank you anyway." I smiled.

My style was usually rather well frumpy. A t-shirt with some sort of icon or slogan on it, jeans or shorts and then a lab coat and glasses. As of now I was basically in that, a purple and black stripped top with jeans under it and a coat.

"When I was turned into a harpy, I wasn't able to wear a lab coat much since my wings made wearing more than a tank top rather difficult." I said brushing off the white coat as we stepped down "It's just nice to be able to wear this again."

"I thought you said you didn't need glasses?" Nami asked.

"Well that was a half truth." I smiled "I don't go basically blind without them but my eyesight isn't what it once was."

"Aren't you a bit young for cheater glasses?" Nami said.

"Yes, I'm afraid reading so many books in dim back alleys tends to do a number on one's ocular wellbeing. Eyes are fascinating did you know reptiles have eyes that can let them see infrared? The world truly is fascinating don't you think?"

"It's a pretty amazing place that's for sure, Islands in the Sky, Islands that float, cities under the sea it's all like stuff from a dream." She smiled.

"Hey Sanji we're here!" Luffy yelled.

"Are you sure you saw them?" Nami asked.

"Yeah I'm sure." He looked around.

"The ground is whipped cream!" Chopped gasped.

"This is Whole Cake Island." I said "I wouldn't be surprised if it's made of cake similar to how the Chocolate town was made of the titular substance. Fascinating how are such islands constructed, how do they keep creatures away that would eat the sugars, you would think an island like this would be infested with insects looking for the sugars."

Everyone was looking at me sideways.

"Sorry about that I got a bit carried away with curiosity, didn't I?" I laughed.

"I saw Sanji up here." Luffy jumped to a nearby cliff.

"This is the southwest coast." Nami said "And Luffy is a terrible liar so he's probably telling the truth when he said he saw them."

"Maybe it was a mirage?" I asked.

"It's not the right temperature for that, and it certainly wouldn't appear as Sanji since a Mirage needs to reflect something that's actually there it can't just create an image randomly." She explained.

"Oh, over there!" Luffy yelled "See! Sanji!"

"Where are you going?!" Nami yelled.

"Sanji's over there I saw him!" Carrot followed Luffy.

"If they all saw him perhaps, he moved?" Nami said.

"But why?" I adjusted my glasses "We came here to pick him up as part of a deal with Pudding why would he be going back into the forest?"

"Well they have to be telling the truth, let's go before they get lost." Nami ran after them.

"Very well." I followed her.

"It's a forest of candy!" Luffy cheered as we went deeper in.

Everything around us looked to be constructed out of sugar treats from taffy to lollipops and jawbreakers.

"The structure of this island is quite fascinating." I said "If only I had time to read up on it."

"I'll look over there by that cake!" Luffy said.

"Oh caramel!" Carrot cheered.

"Jelly beans?!" Chopper smiled.

"Slow down you three something is very wrong here." Nami grabbed them.

"What's the problem we lost sight of him for a second so we gotta follow our guts to find him." Luffy said wiping drool off his face.

"It would probably be best if we stuck together at the very least." I suggested "This situation has seemed odd, now I personally don't know Sanju very well but I can't help but find it odd he'd think now of all times is when it's a good idea to play hide and seek."

"The flowers are cotton candy!" Chopper said "And the river is melon juice."

"Will you three focus!" Nami snapped "Before you-."

"RAAH!" suddenly a massive pair of jaws emerged from the juice river and surrounded the bridge we were on.

"AHHH!" Nami screamed.

"Ten Layer Igloo!"

I threw my hands out and a thick dome of snow covered the bridge and stopped the jaws but the packed powder was already starting to crack.

"Hurry to the other side this won't hold long!" I warned.

We hurried to the other side as the jaws closed and ate the bridge.

"A fight?" I slid back.

"Wait!" Luffy yelled "I think it's fine."

"Hmm?" The huge crocodile looked at us and adjusted his hat "Humans."

Just like that he turned and walked away.

"What are we not good enough to eat or something?!" Luffy yelled.

"Shut up!" Nami yelled "That Crocodile was wearing overalls and it talked! That's super weird and dangerous."

"You say that but…" Luffy pointed at Chopper and Carrot "Uhh…"

"Well, yeah I guess you've got a point." She sighed.

"Still that man was most certainly not a Mink." I dusted off my coat "This island keeps presenting more and more mysteries."

"Let's just go back and wait on the shore like Pudding said." Nami suggested.

"The bridge is broken though." Luffy said.

"Constructing a new one shouldn't be too much trouble for me, though my snow bridges tend to be weak over rivers since the water can splash up and start melting them rather quickly." I explained.

"Wait, who are you talking to?" Carrot asked.

"Luffy of course." I said.

"Which one?" she tilted her head.

"Oh dear." I looked forward and there were two nearly identical copies of Luffy.

"Why are there two?!" Nami gasped.

"Who the hell are you?!" both copies yelled.

"I fear we may has stepped into a trap." I said.

"I'm Luffy you idiot!"

"Stop copying me!"

"They're both so stupid and loud I can't tell which one is real!" Nami yelled.

"They copy each other down to the same twitches and shifts in posture." I said stunned "I can't spot any difference it's a perfect mirror."

"A mirror that's it!" Chopper said "The one farther away is copying the movements in reverse, it's a mirror image."

"I see Sanji, over there on that tree!" Carrot pointed.

"Sanji!" Luffy called out "Grr get outta my way!"

Luffy punched the reflection which returned the blow and knocked him back.

"Go after Sanji!" Luffy yelled.

"Right!" Chopper and Carrot started running.

"Wait you two!" Nami said "If that's the fake it could be a trap, there's something off about this place going off alone is bad."

"Go after them!" I said "I'll stay with Luffy and see if I can solve this mirror trick."

Nami ran off with Chopper and Carrot while I stayed and observed Luffy's fight, I still couldn't be sure which was the real one, even with my observational skills being good there was too much frantic motion from all the attacks.

"Get to the shore!" Nami yelled.

"You're back?" I said "But you left from the other…how did you, what is wrong with this forest?"

"I don't know be we need to get out!" Nami said rushing passed "Let's go!"

"Right." I followed her.

"The Logpose won't stop spinning and I keep getting turned around." Nami said "This forest is wrong."

"Well yes that's been clear from the start." I said.

"Huh?!" Nami yelled "The big head in the ground?! How did we end up here again?!"

"You ran that way and then back." The head said.

"A talking head?" I blinked "Well, I've never seen this before. Huh?!"

I turned around and saw trees moving.

"So that's it!" I said "The forest, it's alive!"

"Oh, darn we got found out." The one tree said.

"There never was a correct path stupid." The ground started talking as well.

"This forest is alive!" I warned Nami "It shifts like a living maze to keep you trapped in it!"

"Have you finally realized how scary the woods are darling?" Luffy jumped on Nami's back.

"Who do you think you're calling darling?!"

"That's not Luffy!" I held my arm up "Snow Rabbits!"

The mirror image grabbed Nami and jumped away from my attack before shifting form into that of a rather terrifying looking woman with a large nose and a scar on her face, given her aged appearance I had a feeling she was quite old, or at least she seemed like she was.

"Let me go!" Nami struggled against the woman's grip.

"Nami!"

"Another talking tree!" Carrot yelled.

"My name's Brulee and I'm not a tree you brat!" she snapped "So a bunny, an adorable little girl and an annoying snow woman, such alluring faces, I can't overcome the urge to mutilate them!"

Her fingernails were unnaturally sharp and claw like.

"This is getting troublesome." I sighed "But if she was the fake, where is the real Luffy?"
