Chapter 11:Prismatic

Authors Note!

Hello everyone! Sorry for the incredibly long delay of this chapter. I had a couple medical issues in my day to day life that required my attention and couldn't write because of them, and when I finally got back, couldn't think of anything to write! Because of that, a huge delay happened, but I'm back now and created what I consider at least to be a great chapter. Lots of things that I had planned before this but couldn't quite put to paper have come flowing out of me all at once, letting me make this chapter. I'm especially proud of the first half which consist entirely of SubaSuffering. On another note, Trials of the Od, another series I was planning to do, sucked! I'm gonna delete it and replace it with another series until I get enough motivation to rework it. This one should be significantly better, as it's not filled with 9,000 Reinhard's(don't ask it's like writing trauma for me now). Anyways, that's about all I have to say, I hope you enjoy it!

(Subaru POV)

A bright rainbow light engulfs Subaru's vision as blood burst from his mouth and his eyes to boil, with his limbs rendered immobile. Falling limply to the ground, intense pain shoots throughout his body as the dragon blood wriggles around in an attempt to heal him yet is near instantly disintegrated as a rainbow light flashes across his skin. Immediately after the light subsides Subaru's forced to watch in shock and horror as his skin begins to peel away, revealing his muscles shining in rainbow.

"G—!" Subaru tries to let out a pain to alleviate even some of the pain but he's not allowed even that as his vocal cords begin melting right along with the rest of his body, as though he'd been dipped in a vat of acid built with the purpose to kill him as slowly as possible. As the first layer's of muscle on his body fade Subaru can feel his organs fall from his stomach and watches as they pain the ground below him black as blood from the very depths of his body escape him. Yet, a strange sense of relief comes along with that as the nerves of his body disappear right along with it, only for him to once again feel horrified as his teeth, tongue and gums begin disintegrating, sending a shutter throughout his body as he desperately tries to thrash about.

Subaru's eyes, or what's barely left of them, roll into the back of his head as his body attempt to let him black out, but it seems he's not even granted that as with another flash of rainbow light the skin across his face peels away and turns to particles of rainbow light, forcing his consciousness back into his body. Thoughts fade from Subaru's mind leaving only pain and a hope for death in their place, but life's never been so easy on him. As Subaru feels a certain vital area down below begin to peel his previously immobilized legs are through sheer will forcibly thrashed about, but all that does is make the situation far worse than it should be as his exposed muscles sting from the air hitting up against them.

Suddenly the pain lessens and Subaru's body relaxes. His eyes return to their previous position in his skull as he just barely manages to look around yet everything past a foot in front of him is but a blur of color to him. Deciding to focus on another sense of his to see if it'll function any better, Subaru focuses on his hearing but realizes belatedly that he has no ears. Shifting his attention to his nose he finds the place it should be only has exposed skull in its place…

Suddenly, an idea comes to mind as he just barely manages to activate, 'C-Cor Leo…nis.' A minimap appears in Subaru's mind where he quickly finds and focuses upon himself. His sight suddenly shifts as he now looks at his body, though he wishes it wasn't, from a third person point of view. The skin and muscle on his arms and legs has disappeared, leaving behind only bone. The skin across his head has peeled away making him look like a certain marvel villain if he was apart of a horror movie. His stomach, what's left of it at least, has disappeared, allowing its contents to spill across the ground. At this point, Subaru's not even sure how he's still alive, let alone conscious or breathing.

As Subaru's checking over his body, he notices something slightly to his right. Capella, with just her skull remaining as it shines in rainbow, sits off to his left, somehow not dead as he watches the eyes in her skull twist about, sending shutters down what's left of Subaru's spine. What terrifies him more than that is how she tries to regenerate herself, only for her limbs to disperse into particles of rainbow colored light.

Tap

An immense pain floods through Subaru's body, sending his brain into a mess of jumbled thoughts as someone he hadn't noticed before taps him on the side. In a brief moment of lucidity he has throughout the pain Subaru attempts to glance at the perpetrator using his minimap, but the only thing he can get a glimpse of is, 'P..in..k…' as the rainbow light flashes throughout his body once again, this time staying as what's left of his body all begins turning to rainbow light at once.

(? POV)

"Hmm…" a small girl with hair pink as cherry blossoms hums to herself thoughtfully as she watches Subaru's body flash in rainbow light and slowly break apart, before the process stops for but a brief few seconds. Moving closer to him, the girl taps him once as a small amount of mana burst from her hand, coating the boys body for an instant. Shortly after, the boys body flashes rainbow once again, but this time, the light clings closely to his body, destroying what little is left of it far faster than before. 'This should make it easier…' holding her hand up, the rainbow light in the air begins to gather and form itself itself into a prism that rest atop the girls hand. With a small smirk appearing across her tiny face, she brings the prism close and whispers "you owe me one, Natsuki Subaru."

(Subaru POV, Tuesday, 2 day's since the mansion attack.)

Subaru's upper body snaps upwards as his eyes open as he begins twisting and turning his body, hyperventilating as phantom pain attacks from everywhere at once. Tears stream down his face as he remembers the pain on par with being eaten alive and his body shivers as he curls up into a ball. Yet he's forced to stop panicked as he realizes he's starter a new loop and yet the usual greeting he receives isn't there. Slowly lifting his face from his lap, Subaru glances around the room and immediately notices several abnormalities. First, Ward is gone. Second, all the furniture inside the room is frozen over with faint traces of mana different from the surrounding snow still present. Third and last, the time of day outside… 'is it midnight?' Subaru thinks after glancing at the time crystal placed on the other side of the room.

With a deep breath, Subaru stands up from the bed and goes to take a step forward, but is left surprised when—

Crackle

—Ice forms under his foot and a small amount of mana drains from his body. Subaru's eyes go wide as it begins to happen with every step he takes before calming down as his mana pool is depleted to normal levels. "Haha…" a startled chuckle leaves his mouth at how ludicrous the situation is. Subaru has formed a vague idea of what's going on, but it's ridiculous for that to be the case. His magic affinity isn't even water or fire yet he can't help the thought of it from forming, "A Hatsumaki?… No, I can't use ice magic and have only casted El level spells until now. There's no way I've become powerful enough to have a magic release period, let alone gain a completely new affinity out of nowhere, even with my doubled strength." A long rant to no one but himself leaves Subaru's mouth as his bad habit of speaking his thoughts aloud starts up again.

Finishing his thoughts off with a troubled sigh, Subaru decides to stop thinking about it for now as he's got more important things to do, such as find Ward. Walking towards the door, just as he's about to open it, Subaru catches a glance of his reflection and stops in his tracks, now feeling the irregularities in his body he'd subconsciously ignored due to so many things happening at once. 'My hair… why is it always my hair? No, it's not just that this time, my eyes too!…'

A faint anger fills Subaru as his once black hair is now once again gone completely, replaced by a Grey color a shade lighter than Otto's that seems oddly familiar. Tracing his reflection he can see it's grown far longer overnight as well, down to his center back, and running a hand through it is far softer. And his eyes, his previously dark brown eyes and one of the only reminders left of his hometown after his jacket was torn to shreds when Felix found out it was precious to him and his hair turned white from all the torture, have now turned a deep Crimson color that Subaru can only think reminds him of blood.

Taking a deep breath to calm his anger, Subaru decides to check the rest of his body for other abnormalities. Slipping off his shirt and pants, Subaru immediately notices a lack of scars across his body and that his previously black veins have disappeared. This sets off a small amount of panic as Subaru's come to heavily rely on its regeneration, and so, to check if it's truly gone or not Subaru uses his teeth to create a small gash across his thumb. Relief takes over when the gash completely heals, and far faster than before too. In its place is the usual rubbery skin that peels right off when touched, showing fresh, new skin underneath.

Suddenly, the door opens slightly as a head full of blond hair peeks in, " …aru?" Ward tilts his head in confusing after seeing the familiar yet incredibly different looking boy in front of him. Immediately his guard is raised slightly as his hand moves slightly to the sword sheathed on his backpack, yet he doesn't draw it. "Is that you, ?"

Seeing Ward on guard, Subaru nods, and points his finger high into the air, twisting his body into a weird position as he decides doing this stupid pose may help calm Ward's nerves. "I'm the one and only Natsuki Subaru! Not only am I intruding on your home but I've had my name eaten by gluttony and have been abandoned by my camp!" Subaru says in a mock cheerful voice.

Ward just sighs at this display and enters the makeshift house made out of a tree. Then, approaching Subaru—

Flick

—Flicks him right on the forehead while sending him a look of disapproval. "How many times have we been over this? Don't joke about your misfortune like that, . If you do, I'll beat you up til you don't."

Subaru holds his forehead as he mumbles "you and Otto would really get along…"

"Did you say something, ?" Ward snaps back with a knowing stare. Subaru just glances away as though nothing happened, causing Ward to sigh again. Deciding that that's enough dumb banter for now, Ward decides to ask, " , what happened to your appearance? I was also unaware that you had an affinity for fire magic…"

Subaru shrugs and says "I woke up looking like this while my body suddenly decided to shoot off a bunch of ice and make me this worlds Boreas. I'm just as lost as you are."

"BoorEus?" Ward asks about the Subaruism.

"It's a god of winter from where I come from." Subaru says, to which Ward just shoots him another look of confusion and shakes his head, signaling to move on. "…Ward, how long was I asleep for? And did anything weird happen while I was knocked out?" Asks Subaru, with a bit of worry in his tone.

"About 16 hours, . The forest was in a bit of mayhem well while you were asleep, as a dragon seemingly crashed and was seemingly in a lot of pain for some reason. Lot of Demon Beast ended up migrating as a result. Also…" Ward reaches into his bag and takes out a blue-green colored crystal, causing Subaru's eyes to widen. "This was left on our doorstep. I picked it up on my way in."

Reaching his hand out slowly, Subaru grips the Pyroxene crystal containing Puck in his hands gently and looks it over, noticing a lack of magic circle on it. 'How did this end up here when Capella should've had it? No… more importantly, did damage from Capella transfer between loops or did something else happen? Who left this here… could it have been…'—

[p..in..k…]

—A faint memory manages to surface through the phantom pain that kicks in as Subaru thinks back to his previous loop. Taking a deep breath, Subaru calms himself and says "Ward, I… if I'm correct, the Emilia Camp is probably in danger and-"

"You want to save them?" Ward's voice cuts Subaru off as he sighs, a sour look on his face. "Why? They've abandoned you. Even if Gluttony was the main cause, they still mishandled everything. There's no reason for you to play hero for them anymore, Subaru." Ward's voice held such authority that Subaru was left momentarily speechless. With a bitter smile and a sigh, Subaru looks at Ward with a slightly helpless look as he says,

"You're right, I was betrayed and hurt by them…" Subaru's body trembles as he remembers all the torture he went though "I may even be subjected to more pain… but… but!.." Subaru grits his teeth as various people flash through his mind, "Not everyone in that camp hurt me. Petra, Fredrica, Annerose, Clind. Rem…"

Seeing this, Ward just sighs and says "I understand. We'll try to save them, but if it gets too dangerous, I'm pulling both of us away from there. I'll even use force if I have to." Subaru nods in agreement. Ward then says "But, , where should we start? If the Witch Cult managed to kidnap one of the dragon maidens, let alone their entire camp, it's obvious they won't keep them out in the open. I doubt your minimap will work either, due to most people being hostile to you, it won't be easy to track the cult or your ex camp."

Subaru belatedly realizes he doesn't have anywhere near enough information, and falls into thought. "Let's go to the mansion first. The Emilia Camp was there only a day or so before I entered the Elior Forest, so there should be some clues there." Ward nods in response, and both begin their preparations to leave.

(Subaru POV, An hour later.)

" was this really necessary!?" Ward screams as he holds tightly onto Subaru, the wind blowing in his face and nearly knocking him off their invisible platform.

"It'll take us over a day to get there if we don't fly like this." Subaru calmly responds as he focuses on maintaining his combined Unseen Hands and keeping his balance as they fly at near 60Mph. Ward simply grips his hands tighter around Subaru and decides to close his eyes, trusting his friends ability at least this much. Off in the far distance, a very, very faint outline of a large city can be seen, one containing both pleasant and unpleasant memories for Subaru. His hand instinctively clenches his stomach as Lugnica comes into view.

" ." Ward reaches into his backpack and pulls out a familiar robe, though now dyed orange and black thanks to Ward's handiwork, and passes it to Subaru. "Flying through the air, however unconventional it is, is bound to be suspicious. It'll be best for us to sneak in wearing our robes and exit through the west side gate." Subaru nods in agreement and puts the recognition obstruction robe on.

Landing around 3 kilometers or so feet away from the Cities Eastern Gate, Subaru breaths in deeply to calm his nerves, then silently sprints to the city wall with Ward in toe. Their speeds enough that they make it in a matter of seconds, though both are still a while off from being able to compete with the likes of ground dragons. "How would we sneak in? The walls and gate are guarded." Subaru asks Ward, who seemingly contemplates for a moment before taking out a pair strange card's from his bag. Ward whispers,

"Take your hood off and show a smile or something." As he holds up a card towards Subaru's face. Tilting his head, Subaru smiles and there's a small clicking noise as Ward puts the card in Subaru's hand, then seemingly uses the other one on himself. Then, taking his hood off, he says "let's go through the front door. I'm a normal citizen and your appearance changing so much so often is bound to cause confusion on how the supposed 'Archbishop' actually looks." Hearing that, Subaru nods while inside nervousness takes over. The last time he was in a city was when he was being pursued by his captors, so entering one again… it's leaving him feeling a little more than just nervous. But knowing he'll look suspicious if he goes in all fidgety, Subaru quickly makes his face blank as he walks up to the gate beside Ward.

A guards approaches and places a hand atop the handle of a longsword attached to his hip, and asks the two "Do you have any form of identification? Also, what are your intentions, approaching the city this late at night?"

Ward pulls his card out and says "We're affiliates of the Hoshin trading group who've come to bring materials for a shop within the city." Ward takes off his bag and pulls out a large monster corpse that should by all rights not fit inside. "My bag is a magic tool that stores lots of space, hence why we have no cart."

The guard nods and motions for one of his underlings to come forward, grabs both Ward and Subaru's cards, and hands them over. "Have those checked out, make sure they aren't counterfeits." The underling guard nods and returns to the gate.

Minutes of silence pass before the underling guard returns, whispers something into the seemingly guard captain, who promptly nods, hands them back the cards, and says, "you may enter."

Subaru and Ward walk through the gate and into the city, all the while Subaru's eyes are wide in surprise from how easy that was. Turning to Ward, he asks "how did you trick them with the Cards?"

Ward responds with "I didn't. Those were official cards I got in the past when I was part of a mercenary group. We… had a couple extra, that Hoshin never asked us to give back. Figured they'd come in use, so I kept them on me."

"Was it really ok to use something like that here?" Subaru ends up asking.

"Where else would I have used them if not here?" Subaru just nods in response, and both fall silent as they walk throughout the silent, and somewhat eerie city, though it's probably just the effect of it being nighttime and this world lacking street lamps. Time quickly passes as they walk down the empty streets, occasionally glancing around themselves until eventually, they make it to the other side of the city safely, something Subaru can't help but feel strange about. With this atmosphere, he was almost certain some assassin would appear to cut his guts open or something…

" , we've arrived." Ward's voice snaps Subaru out of his thoughts, as they arrive at the Western Gate. Immediately, a woman in a knights uniform steps out of the gate and begins approaching the two, putting Subaru slightly on guard. Though he tries his best not to show it.

"Hello there, you two. It is a pleasure to meet you both. My name is Andrea, the knight in charge of this gate. If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a few questions, is that alright?" The woman's long orange hair sways slightly as she speaks, whilst her green eyes stand out even in the darkness that's befallen the capital. Her voice comes out gently, yet holds an authority to it that Subaru's seen from just about every knight he's faced. Still, her gaze isn't one of malice, and that puts Subaru at ease. Ward glances at Subaru, sees he's relaxed, then nods his head, responding the questioning is fine. "I see, thank you for your cooperation sir, now then…"

As Andrea begins questioning Ward, Subaru's busy thinking about this loop and all it's abnormalities. 'I woke up at the wrong time, my body changed appearance, I somehow used ice magic, Capella was in pain for some reason, and the Pyroxene Crystal ended up on our doorstep somehow.' Subaru places his hand on his chin as he tries to connect all these events with one another. 'I could've woken up at the wrong time so that my body could go through its change. I also haven't checked my gate yet to see if I've actually spontaneously gotten a Affinity for Ice magic or if that may've been something else. As for Capella and the Crystal… someone probably attacked her and took it from her, but who would be strong enough for something like that?' A sigh involuntarily escapes Subaru's mouth as he realizes he's still lacking too much information to come to a proper conclusion on most of this. Still, he feels like he at least got somewhere. 'For now I should check my gate.'

Closing his eyes, Subaru focuses on his gate and is immediately left surprised. The first and most expected change is his gate doubling in size, thanks to RBD activating. The second change is what truly surprised Subaru. He certainly has an Affinity for Ice… or more specifically, an Affinity for Fire magic. Right along with Affinities for Wind, Earth, and Water Magic. 'The only thing I'm missing is Yang.' Subaru notes in shock and a hint of happiness.

"…ru… Baru! They're letting us through the gate." Pulling Subaru away from his findings is Ward who has grabbed Subaru by the hand and begun pulling him after seeing the dazed look on his face.

From the size, Andrea smiles and says "Have a safe trip, you two, and if you need any assistance, don't hesitate to ask for me at a nearby guard post." To which Ward nods and guides Subaru through the gate under the watchful stares of the guards.

After they're a significant distance away, Ward asks, "are you alright, ? You seem out of it."

Subaru simply nods and says "Yeah, I just found out some things involving my magic. We can talk more about it later. For now, let's hurry to the mansion."

Ward nods and says, "Yes, let's…"

Q&A:

Q:Guest: There aren't any Q&A's or S&A's this chapter. Did you not look at the reviews this time?

A:I apologize for not adding them in last time, but I promise I looked at each and every one. I do it for every chapter and will sometimes even reread them as they make me quite happy.

Q:Guest:Is Omega getting chased by Zarestia?

A:I'll at least confirm no Zarestia for now. I don't intend to do too many side story characters.

S&A:

S:DashingSlayer101: Well I'm glad I was able to spot the rewritten chapter. Btw, I really love the additions you made here. Turning Puck's crystal into a magic draining meteor was a stroke of genius. It not only creates the perfect explanation for why Capella would have his crystal on her person (something that had been missing previously), but it also provides her with a special tool that makes her a far more dangerous threat. I also really like the fake Emilia scene with Subaru and Capella, that part I somehow forgot had been missing in a fight with an evil shapeshifter and is a great addition to the story overall. I also see you've finally decided on a name for the new greed authority. Very clever choosing a star name as the inspiration. I mean, I can't say it's an accurate name to using a lock as reference. Let it be said, by definition your version of the greed authority can not be considered as real time stopping, rather it is a different power called time reduction. That said, I am still glad to see that you added the detail of his heart imploding, and that I was able to help you come up with it, and the shout out. While we're on the subject though I'd like to say that my idea for Subaru's authority of wrath would basically be 'Coiled Hearts' from 'Rampage of the Forgotten'. Now, as for the body part that I think he would obtain within the shadow garden from the wrath witch factor, I think that the lungs would be the most appropriate even if in a somewhat ironic way if you know what I mean. Finally I have a suggestion for the next rewritten chapter: If you're still planning to have Ward be attacked by Gluttony, which I assume is to motivate Subaru later on, then why not have that be during this very battle. Picture that just upon being wounded and poisoned from 30 assassins, Roy Alphard shows up to take advantage of his weakened state and finishes him off, preventing him from coming to Subaru's aid. It always bothered me how Roy was able to take our favorite duo in chapter 'Nom' on his own when I don't think he'd be strong enough to do so. That and he acted more like his brother Lye than his more strategic self in that chapter. Oh, and maybe this time he's shown to have brought a Gabaou from the Augria sand dunes as back-up for the 'boss fight'. Then on Subaru's side of things fighting Capella: you could take another previous idea of mine and have Omega and her travel companions show up to help him out. First, Colette (in the werewolf form that she has gained control over) jumps in to fight by his side and lure Capella into position for their plan. Next, in order to disarm Capella of the Puck meteor, Palmyra would then use Echidna's second meteor staff to home in on Puck's gate and shoot him right out from Capella's own pocket. Finally, Omega activates their trap which would be a yin magic circle that she prepared earlier that then freezes Capella in a moment of frozen time. While this circle would be mentioned to be capable of holding her indefinitely, she would have mysteriously vanished by the time they come back after rescuing the royal candidates, implied to be Pandora's doing.

A:I'm very glad you like the new additions to the chapter, I'm very satisfied with them as well and as always thank you for the suggestions. The fact my tiny brain thought of turning Puck into a glorified Yin Vacuum machine astounds me as well and I feel like I'll never be as big brained again. I must've used up a lifetime of neurons right there. As for the Authority of Wrath, I've yet to read Rampage of the Forgotten but I'll definitely look into it, though I'm trying to avoid taking other Authors unique Authority creations if I can help it. As for Gluttony… well, I used them so inefficiently that I'm trying my best to be a lot more big brained with them now. A lot of that will be revealed next chapter. Finally, as for Omega, a lot of the issues I have with that is… I can't write Colette or Palmyra. It's an issue I've had with a couple characters, especially characters from side stories as I originally had plans to revive Stride completely but couldn't write his personality for the life of me. I'll ofc, keep trying, but until I feel like I can get it write, I'll be avoiding those characters. Omega/Echidna is pretty hard to write too, so I'm keeping her limited. Plus, it's always nice to have her pop up as my occasionally needed Deus Ex Machina character since I'm definitely not moving Reinhard about.

S:Guest:Lightning magic already exist in re zero and (thought not shown yet) can be used by Roswaal. However, in order to pull this spell off it requires a combination of multiple affinities, with one of them confirmed to be wind magic. This being kept in mind it should be impossible for Ward to pull of such a spell with only fire magic at his disposal.

A:One of the great things about ReZero's simplistic magic system is that there's multiple ways to cast a spell, each with their own benefits and issues. For example, Roswaal's Lightning Magic is, in my opinion, probably Fire for the heat necessary to create it, and Wind to control its direction. So, I had Ward who can only use Fire Magic, lack a lot of direction to his Lightning Magic, instead having it follow the path of his swing instead of being particularly controlled.

S:Helpful Guest: Something you should know is that it normally takes about a month for an authority to manifest. The only known thing that can speed up the process would be Echidna's body fluids so if you want him to use it soon you'd have to have him gulp them down hard after meeting Omega (btw, she has her own travel companions look it up). Another thing is that I don't think Capella should be losing one of her abilities from splitting up her witch factor, instead the result should be that her transformations become a slower process that takes more effort as a way of showing it has gotten weaker. That being said, I think that the way he obtained the witch factor of lust didn't make sense.

A:Ty for letting me know about Omega's party, helped a lot when thinking about how to write her in. As for the other stuff, well, here's the complete rewrite.

S:Lucian Naruto: I was reading an alternate version of Re:Zero, called Gluttony Route, where it was revealed that just like with Kaneki because of Yamori torturing him in Tokyo Ghoul, Subaru ended up losing his hair color for overdoing Return by Death. I was looking at some fanart, and just in my opinion, this looks cool on Subaru. Do you think that while he was in the 'care' of Felix and Julius, the same could happen to Subaru? I know that when the group recovered their memories of the boy, they would all be too desperate and worried to care about details, but how do you think they would react to a white-haired Subaru?

A:Since the original ReForgotten story had Subaru's hair turn white, I had a similar thing happen towards the earlier chapters that was somewhat fixed thanks to the dragons blood, creating a mixture of white and black hair. Now he's gone all Grey hair though for reasons I won't specify. As for how they'd react to a white haired Subaru, anger towards themselves, probably. Well, once they get over that a couple will probably think it's hot.

S:PotatoGuest02: Thanks for replying to my review! Now I have a suggestion: Once the Emilia Camp has recovered their memories, I hope that they will not try to force or manipulate Subaru back into the camp like in others re:forgotten spinoffs, but they will instead respect Subaru's personal wishes, whether Subaru is willing to return to them or not, they will have to bear the consequences and move on with their lives(Especially Emilia, I've had enough of seeing her in other re:forgor spinoffs always can't stand the blow mental breakdown will only hide in the corner crying and refuse to accept the reality ...)

A:I completely agree with you. Especially in the case of Emilia, the whole Camp after arc 4 matured far too much for them to force Subaru to return with them.

Q:LucianNaruto:Hey... I was thinking and I had an idea. As you may know, despite not being very strong, Subaru is good at adapting to various scenarios in canon, and he has certain talents. An example of this is that he is good at sewing, and it was shown in the future that despite the things she did, Subaru felt compassion for Meili, going to visit her whenever he could so the girl wouldn't feel lonely and even sewing a doll and possibly making toys for the girl to have fun. Remembering that, I had an idea: Think of it as a joke, but what if Subaru made a doll for Beatrice? Initially the spirit girl might get angry believing that Subaru was treating her like a child and kick him out of the library, but an interesting fact would be that she wouldn't refuse the gift. Beatrice wouldn't admit it, but she would have liked the doll as Subaru could have created a mini replica of it, which would have impressed Beatrice. So much so that when no one was looking, Beatrice could start playing with the toy as if she were a child. Just take a look in Google at this fanart I found. As much as she didn't want to admit the truth and say the opposite, I bet she would have fallen in love with a gift like that. After losing her memories of Subaru, Beatrice might believe the doll was a gift from Echidna and would be very attached to the toy, but after remembering Subaru, Beatrice might despair and isolate herself in one of the rooms of the mansion crying while speaking Subaru's name and hugging the doll he made for her.

A:I've always intended for Subaru's smaller talents to shine through in this series, especially with his sowing that he's always been so proud of. I just haven't gotten around to it yet, mostly because Subaru hasn't had any downtime. I also plan on making it a vital part of his abilities at some point. Imagine having Subaru sewing together enchanted pieces of clothing meant to assist him in combat!
