Cakes by Koharu Mitsuki

---

He never liked sweets. He never did.

He had the same resentment in cakes too.

Everybody knew that. Stupid little girl asked him in front of the whole class the a few weeks ago, much to his disappointment.

He didn't intend to answer the girl, but he knew he wouldn't hear the end of it if she didn't get what she wanted.

She was really stubborn.

And here he is now, thinking about her. He wasn't even sure why. She was always popping out of nowhere, even in his mind, whether intentionally or by chance, he didn't exactly know.

"Natsume! Wait!"

See?

He didn't really know what to do with her. Sure, burning her came to his mind couple of times, but he knew it'd be futile, with her Alice around to protect her.

Stupid nullifying Alice.

Stupid little girl.

She's so ugly—

"NATSUME!"

—and loud.

"NAAAAAAAAAAAAATSUUMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE—eee!"

She should know shouting like that is bad for the throat. Her voice broke in the middle of her scream that it ended like a squeak. Tsk, tsk, tsk. He snorted.

"NATSU—"

That's it. She's beginning to get on his nerves. Annoyed, he turned around, so quickly that she almost bumped into him. Grunting, he said to her, "Stop screaming, you're hurting my ears."

She huffed and replied back, "Well, it's your fault for not stopping!"

She's impossible.

"Hn."

"Hey…" she started. That's when he noticed…she was carrying something…a box of some sort. His mind started working. Did this girl like him? Was she going to give this…thing to him? Whoa, he didn't know she liked him. This is interesting…

"…I made this for you!" She shoved the box in his hands.

He knew it. She did like him.

"Oh, so little girl has a crush on me now, isn't she?"

She flushed. "Of course not! I made that cake because I wanted to prove to you that cakes and sweets aren't as bad as you claim them to be!"

Oh, it's a cake? Hmm…

"…is this poisoned?"

Her eyes flared with irritation, "Of course not!" But a second after that, she smiled brightly. He always knew this girl was weird. "Just…take it, okay!" And with that, she dashed off in to a corner. He tried chasing after her, but she was fast. Darn.

What's he supposed to do with this cake? Taste it? Hn, that doesn't sound like a bad idea…

He opened the box… it looked like a Sponge cake. Surprisingly enough, it looked presentable. In fact, it looks delicious, not that he'd admit it out loud.

There was a short note on top of the lid, with a little plastic fork taped unto it.

'This is a Chiffon cake. It has a low fat and sugar content, so I figured you might like it. Don't worry, its poison free! Oh, I attached a plastic fork here, in case you're hungry already. Enjoy! –Mikan'

He smirked. She was well-prepared.

He took the plastic fork and used it as a substitute knife as he sliced a little portion. He hesitated. Is this really poison free? He took the risk and tasted it.

His eyes widened in surprise.

It actually tasted…quite good. It was not too sweet, and not too soft. Just right.

Hmm…maybe, cakes aren't so bad after all.

And maybe, just maybe…Mikan Sakura isn't so bad too.

He smirked.
