The Seven Deadly Sins? As in the people her father said he swore he would destroy?
And... Meliodas is their leader?
A minute or so passes, Elizabeth still stays frozen. "Um, Diane," King speaks up. "I think you broke the president's daughter."
"What? No, I didn't King! Don't be ridiculous," Diane says, turning to the auburn haired man. King has a hint of fear in his eyes before he goes back to looking down his mug of booze. The brunette whips around to look Elizabeth in the eyes. "Are you okay, Elizabeth?" Diane asks, placing a hand on the silverette's shoulder and the other behind her back.
It seems to take her out of whatever trance Elizabeth was under. She blinks rapidly a few times before a small smile quickly replaces her inquisitive expression. "Y-Yes, I'm fine," Elizabeth insists. "It's just - my father always spoke ill about you people. I was just surprised is all."
Diane lets out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness!" She suddenly exclaims. "I thought you were about to say you hated us! Most people don't like us," the brunette sheepishly says as she lets her hand fall from Elizabeth's shoulder.
"No, I'm sure you're all wonderful people!" Elizabeth says. Diane smiles and Meliodas chuckles. The silverette blushes at the sound of the blonde's chuckle.
Diane starts twirling stands of her hair with her index finger, "I know you don't know any of us, but I really hope we can be friends! I'm normally the only girl around here, so it'll be nice having another woman around here!"
"Sure will," Meliodas comments with a cheeky grin playing onto his lips. The brunette tears her gaze from Elizabeth's ocean blue to glare at the Boss of the Sins.
"Shut up, Boss," she mumbles before turning back to the silver haired woman. "Don't mind him, Elizabeth. He can be a real pervert at times." Elizabeth laughs, brushing her bangs out of her blue eyes. "I'm afraid I know it more than I should."
"Anyways," the green eyed man stands up and strides over to Elizabeth and Diane. "Ellie here needs a room, doesn't she?" Her eyebrows quirk up at the nickname, though she prefers it over Princess.
"I do?" Elizabeth says.
Meliodas hums and he takes her hand in his. "Mm hm, you'll be staying here for a while."
Diane's eyes light up with excitement when Elizabeth glances at the brunette. "Ooh! I can't wait to help you decorate your room!"
A quiet laugh leaves Elizabeth. Maybe it won't be so bad here.
"I'll show Elizabeth to her room," Meliodas announces, "so Diane, keep doin' what you're doing." The blonde starts tugging her along with him, a faint 'yes, boss' is all she hears from Diane. They enter a hallway filled with doors, probably the Sins' bedrooms. They stop in front of a door, and Elizabeth's gaze turns to Meliodas. His blonde hair is still as messy as ever, his soft green eyes piercing into her cool aqua orbs. A small, yet unfeigned grin is on his lips, and she can't help but smile.
"This will be your room, Princess-" and there he goes with that goddamned nickname again "-just rest up for now, 'kay? I'll come get you when I need you."
She gives him a slow nod before he turns and goes back into the bar. Placing a hand on the round door knob to her new room, a heavy sigh escapes her as she opens the door. It's not as messy as she expected the room to be - the complete opposite, in fact. The entire room is really clean and neat; the bed is made, the floors and furniture don't seem to have a single particle of dust on them, and the curtains that cover the windows look brand new.
It's almost like they planned on Elizabeth living here for a bit.
Glancing around the room, she notices another door and Elizabeth suspects it to lead to a bathroom. Elizabeth walks further into the room after she closes the door behind her softly. She immediately walks over to the bed and sits on it.
She sinks into the mattress, and this is by far the most comfortable bed she's ever laid on. Elizabeth lets go of her phone, the device landing by her side. The woman takes a moment to close her eyes and bask in the silence she hasn't heard in a while. It's hypnotizing in a sense - though, she's not hearing nor seeing anything behind closed eye lids, it's still nice.
It's just her alone in a room filled with nothing but silence.
A relaxed sigh escapes her, the soft material of the blanket over the bed caressing her. Just as she thinks sleep will take over, she hears soft knocking on her door. Elizabeth exhales, but she sits up on the bed. "Come in," the woman reluctantly says. Her eyes focus on the door as it slowly opens, revealing a timid looking Diane.
"I'm sorry," the brunette immediately apologizes, "am I bothering you?" Elizabeth gapes at her for a moment.
"What? No, of course not!"
Diane comes into the room and closes the door. "Oh, good," she sighs in relief. "I thought you would've been sleeping by now." Maybe, but Elizabeth's thinks it's alright if Diane was the one that wanted to come in and talk to her. The brunette walks over to the bed and sits beside the silverette. The two women flash each other bright smiles.
"Boss said I could take a break, so I decided to come chat with you!"
"Oh, are you sure you wouldn't want to rest?" Elizabeth solicits as she looks at the woman in her amethyst orbs.
The brunette shakes her head, "Nope! I'm not tired; plus, I want to get to know the president's daughter! Soooo, how'd you meet Boss?" Diane asks, suddenly changing the subject, causing Elizabeth to smile at the brunette's forwardness.
Elizabeth hums in thought as she brings a finger up to her chin, tapping thoughtfully while Diane's eyes are on her. "Well, I was sitting in my friend's bar and I was feeling overwhelmed regarding issues I have with my father, and I started crying," she explains. Diane slightly pouts at the information. "He slid into the seat next to me and said, 'why are you crying, Princess?'. I told him I didn't feel like one," Elizabeth softly says as she looks down at her twiddling thumbs on her lap.
Diane puts a hand on the silverette's shoulder. "Aw, he called you Princess?!"
Elizabeth gently laughs. "Yeah; he always calls me Princess. He almost never calls me by my actual name."
"Aw! What else happened?"
"He got me drunk and my friend gave him my address so he could take me home," the silver haired woman continues. "And I guess I didn't let him leave because he left me a note saying that I seemed 'rather content' with him in my arms," she reveals, a faint blush creeping up onto her cheeks. "And I haven't asked him about it yet, but I can't help but wonder... if he took advantage of me while I was drunk."
The brunette hums, dropping her hand from Elizabeth's shoulder. "Nah," Diane negates, "Boss wouldn't do that. I know he may seem like a really arrogant guy, but he's actually a really nice guy if you give the time to get to know him," she starting twirling strands of her dark hair. "It's kind of weird; I know he wouldn't do that, yet I've never actually seen him with a girl. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he's our leader and he's always planning our next course of action," Diane continues to ramble, and Elizabeth can't help but smile.
"Oh! I'm rambling on and on about Boss - I haven't even told you anything about myself!" Diane catches herself, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks. The brunette repositions herself so that she's facing Elizabeth, her legs crossed. "Okay, so I'm twenty-five, I've been here for about four years I think?" Diane says, raising one of her eyebrows as Elizabeth sits like she does.
"Waitressing here in the Boar Hat is one of my favorite things to do, even if I am the only one doing anything," Diane says, laying down on Elizabeth's bed.
"Does Meliodas force you to work by yourself...?" Elizabeth asks, laying besides the woman. From the way Diane explained it, it seems like Diane is the only one doing any form of hard labor.
"Well," Diane starts, "no, not exactly. Ban cooks the food, King pours the drinks and I just serve it to people. It's a team effort, I guess," she says with a laugh.
Well, at least they aren't making the only female do all the work.
Just as Elizabeth was about to ask another question, her phone starts buzzing. With furrowed eyebrows, Elizabeth sits up, just as Diane does, and grabs her phone. The caller ID reads Gilthunder. What does he want now?
She answers the call and presses her phone to her ear. "Hello?"
"Ellie?" Gil uses her nickname once again. "Are you home?" Elizabeth looks over to Diane, who looks just as puzzled as she does.
"Um, no. I'm with some... friends right now. Why?"
Gilthunder sighs. "Margaret wanted to visit you, but she said you weren't opening the door. Are you okay?"
"Yes, why wouldn't I be?" Elizabeth remarks as she tears her gaze away from Diane's to look at the laces of her shoes.
"Y'know, I spoke with Veronica before I called you-" Oh dear God. She's not going to like Gil's next words. "-and she said you have a boyfriend, Ellie. Why didn't you tell me?"
Elizabeth closes her eyes and softly exhales. "Because Gil," the silverette starts. "You know how you get! You get all overprotective and then you take forever to even start getting along with my boyfriend!"
Gilthunder softly chuckles after Elizabeth's words. "Yeah, but I'm only like that because you're my best friend, Elizabeth." Elizabeth's eyes go slightly wide and her jaw slackens. His best friend? She hadn't thought about it, but... Gil is her best friend, too. No matter how annoying he can be. "Oh. I'm getting another call. I'll talk to you later, alright Elizabeth? And call Margaret when you can."
The silver haired woman hums before she hangs up and sets her phone down on her lap. She starts playing with her ponytail. "Boyfriend?" She hears Diane question. Elizabeth's cerulean gaze find's the brunette's amethyst. "Are you and Boss dating?" Elizabeth blushes a light pink from head to toe as she stops messing with her hair.
"N-No! He just told my sister that he and I were dating and my sister told my insanely overprotective friend about it! We're not actually dating!" Elizabeth hurriedly explains with a laugh. It causes Diane to laugh as well.
"If you say so," the brunette continues to chuckle. "So, I guess you'll be staying here for a while, huh? Boss gave you your own room," Diane tells Elizabeth as she grabs her hands.
Elizabeth smiles kindly. "Yeah, I suppose so."
{-}
During the remainder of Diane's break, they talk about random things like what their favorite foods and drinks are, their favorite places to go, but nothing too deep or anything that dwells into their pasts. From what Diane tells her about the Sins currently in the bar, she really looks up to Meliodas like an older brother. It's kind of cute, Elizabeth thinks. Ban, on the other hand, seems like a jackass - at least in the way Diane described him. But, regardless of what the brunette says, Elizabeth thinks Ban could be a nice guy.
Diane makes King seem like a really nice, but awkward guy. He's gentle and heedful, yet unwieldy at the same time. Though, maybe he's only like that with Diane... The brunette said King always spoke to Meliodas or Ban clearly and straight to the point, but with Diane, he would stutter on his words and blush like crazy.
"What do you think of Boss?" Diane randomly asks when she stands from Elizabeth's bed.
"Oh, um," Elizabeth hums as she stands up, leaving her phone on the bed. "I don't know if I'm being honest. He seems like a sweet guy, but with all that cockiness and that whole mysterious vibe to him contradicts what I want to believe he is," Elizabeth softly explains as she brushes her fingers through the hair of her ponytail.
Diane hums as she turns to the door leading into the hallway. "And what do you want to believe he is?" Elizabeth slightly flushes, but follows Diane out the door.
"I... I want to believe that he's a really great guy," she ends up answering.
"Want to believe who's a really great guy?" A voice says behind the two women. Elizabeth jumps and Diane gives a small squeak before they look behind them. On a small five-step staircase that Elizabeth suspects to lead outside, stands Meliodas, his blonde locks nothing but a mess as it usually seems to be, hands in his pocket, and the slightest upturn of his lips yet looks so conceited.
The brunette exhales strongly, "No one, Boss."
Before Elizabeth knew it, Diane had bolted down the hall and into the bar. The silverette's eyes find his emerald green, and they seem... genuine for once. "She didn't scare you, did she?" Meliodas asks, coming closer to Elizabeth.
She shakes her head, "No, of course not. She seems like a nice person."
Meliodas places a hand on the small of her back, the contact on her skin warm. "Diane can be... a bit extra at times. Kinda surprised she hasn't scared you off yet," the blonde comments. His hand remains. "C'mon, Princess-" again with that damned nickname. "-you'll help with waitressing from now on, 'kay?" Elizabeth looks at him in confusion. She's only been here for not even two hours and he already wants her to work?
"Uh, alright," she ends up agreeing anyways. Meliodas smiles at her and guides her to the bar. The hand on her back doesn't disappear until she's seated on one of the stools by the bar. Elizabeth quickly scans the room; Diane was wiping down one of the tables, King seemed to have been throwing out the trash since he came from the kitchen and the bag Diane threw the bottles of alcohol in was gone, and Ban seems to be waking up.
The blonde walks around the bar and grabs a bottle of wine, as well as a wine glass. Elizabeth watches his every move as he pours the red liquid into the clear glass. He likely feels her eyes on him, because he looks up and shoots her a wink. The silverette flushes a bright pink, hiding her face with her hands. He pushes the drink towards her.
She removes her hands from her face to dart her eyes from the drink to his face. "What's this for?" Elizabeth asks the blonde. He leans on the bar, looking at her in her crystal blue eyes.
"It's a celebratory drink; since you'll be staying for a while," he simply answers. Elizabeth's mouth twitches into a smile. She takes the glass and brings it up to her lips to take a gradual gulp.
His gaze is on her but more specifically; her lips and her throat as she swallows the liquid. Elizabeth smiles at the man when she puts the glass down. "Thank you," Elizabeth finds herself saying.
Meliodas grins, "Don't thank me, Princess."
"Ha! You call the president's daughter 'Princess'!" A voice she hasn't heard says next to her. "That's priceless, Boss." Meliodas narrows his eyes at the man next to Elizabeth. When Elizabeth looks over to him, she sees a head of white hair, crimson red eyes and a scar the spreads from his cheek to the bottom of his neck. The white haired man smiles at Elizabeth.
"That's coming from you, Ban," Meliodas shoots back. "You've been passed out on the bar since I got here." Ban snickers when he tears his gaze from the silverette. He stands up and stretches before he gives a long yawn.
"Yeah, yeah."
{-}
It's nearly seven, Elizabeth had decided to take a nap while the Sins prepare the bar for the night. When she wakes up, her room is nearly pitch black dark except for the faint light coming from the hallway peaking just under her door. Elizabeth groans as she places a hand on her forehead.
Right as she sits up on her bed, there's soft knocking on her door. They come in even though she hadn't said anything. They turn on the light, and immediately, the silverette is met with the sight of blonde hair and molten emerald eyes. Meliodas grins at her, his expression surprisingly not holding any arrogance. "Did you sleep well, Princess?" He asks her.
Elizabeth sighs, wondering if he'll ever stop calling her Princess. "I slept fine," she responds.
He places a bag that she hadn't seen in his hand when the blonde walked in. "While you slept," he starts, "Diane went out to buy you some clothes."
The woman grabs the bag and peers inside it. Diane went out of her way to buy her clothes? "That's awfully considerate of her," Elizabeth voices her thoughts. Meliodas hums in agreement.
"She always puts others first; that's just how she is," Meliodas explains. "She really likes you, you know."
"W-What? Me?" Elizabeth stutters as she puts the bag aside and stands up. The blonde looks at her in the eyes, his emerald gaze unreadable as ever. Now that she looks at him though, she realizes that he's changed out of his hoodie and sweats into a white button-up shirt and black jeans. She flushes at her next thought, however.
He looks really nice.
Meliodas smirks. "Yeah; who wouldn't like you?" Elizabeth swears she stops breathing as Meliodas takes her hand in his. "You've got a great personality, you're pretty, and you get along with everyone. Not every one is able to get along with Diane, so you're pretty lucky I'd say." Did... Did he really just say those things about her? Her mouth is in a small 'o' shape, her blue eyes are slightly wide, and her face feels hot.
"What did I say about wearing more layers?" He says, bringing her out of her thoughts. Elizabeth softly gasps as he places his hand on her forehead. She falls back onto the bed, not expecting the contact. Meliodas towers over her, one of his legs in-between hers. His rich emerald-green eyes pierce her ocean blue, yet she still can't read his expression. How is he so good at hiding what he's feeling?
The blonde brushes her bangs so they don't cover her forehead. "You're hot all over, again," he whispers, making her shiver involuntarily.
Elizabeth smiles and chuckles nervously. "Haha, n-no! I'm fine, I promise!" He flashes her another smirk before he gets off her. She gulps and sits up, not exactly sure what had just happened.
"We're about to open soon," Meliodas tells her, his back turned to her. "Your bar uniform is in your closet, 'kay?"
"Okay," the woman whispers as she holds her head low, and before she even looks up, he's gone.
Elizabeth brings a hand up to her forehead wear Meliodas had touched her. It's warm - but not because she's sick, but because... He touched her there. It was so unexpected... Why'd he touch her like that? Why did he pin her to her bed? Why... Why does she suddenly feel so warm and tingly inside?
What is this man doing to her?!
She shakes her head, trying to shake off whatever emotion Meliodas is making her feel. Elizabeth takes a minute to breathe before she walks over to her closet. Opening the closet, she just stops breathing all together once again.
There's a pink crop top with short frilly sleeves, the hem of it slightly frilly as well, and the skirt... seems shorter than she'd like it to be. There's also a pair of pearly white flats on the floor of the closet. Elizabeth sighs heavily. Meliodas is going to be the death of her, she swears it. The silverette grabs the "uniform" and begins to strip herself of her clothes. When she's left in nothing but her underwear, she merely stares at the clothing the blonde wants her to wear.
How does he expect to her wear something so revealing?
"Oh, Princess, I almost forgot to- tell... you..." Meliodas says, walking into the room, but he trails off at the end of his sentence. Elizabeth quickly sits down and covers herself with the uniform. Elizabeth is positive she's gone red all over. She feels hotter than the sun itself.
Her blush only gets worse when he starts looking her up and down, his smirk right now the cockiest one she's seen out of the time she's known him. "Sorry, Princess," the blonde apologizes, turning so his back faces her. "I didn't mean to walk in on you changing-" but she can't tell if he means it. With that cocky tone, she can't tell if he means half the shit he says. "-but I was gonna tell you to take off that earring. Can't be giving people hints to who you really are, can we?"
He does have a point. If people knew she was working in this environment and wearing such clothing - especially with the Seven Deadly Sins - her father would know what she's up to in no time. Elizabeth can't afford for that to happen.
"Y-Yes, Meliodas," she stutters. Meliodas gingerly chuckles before leaving her room once more.
How embarrassed can this man make her?
After a few minutes, she gets herself dressed in the clothing Meliodas calls a uniform and she takes off her earring to place it on a vanity by the closet. She looks at herself in the body-length mirror in her new room, and she doesn't know what to think. The shirt makes her breasts pop out more than any of the clothes she's ever owned, and the navy skirt is just way too short. If she bends over even the slightest, anyone could get an eye-full of her ass.
Regardless of how revealing it is though, it's all in her size. How did Meliodas know what size to get? It's almost like he took time out of his life to not only track her down, but also get her tailored measurements.
Elizabeth sighs as she walks towards her door. No, she's just being ridiculous. They just met coincidentally in a bar and he recognized her. Though, she doesn't know exactly why he chose her to help him with "exposing" the government. Wasn't the seven Sins enough help?
Walking in the hallway that leads into the bar, she can already feel everyone's eyes on her and she hasn't even walked into the bar. Meliodas is going to be the death of her, she swears it.
The silverette walks into the bar, and her hunch was correct. Diane, King, Ban and Meliodas's eyes are all on her. Her eyes dart from each of their faces until her gaze lands on Meliodas. His green eyes roam her entire figure, and it causes her to blush from her toes to the crown of her head. Elizabeth's cerulean orbs examine his face, but all she can see is that same level of cockiness.
"Really, Boss?" She hears King groan. "You're making the president's daughter wear that too?"
"Well," Meliodas brings a finger to his chin. "We've got another waitress, so I thought a uniform was needed," he calmly states. Elizabeth sees King narrow his eyes at the leader of the Sins.
"That outfit can't even be considered a uniform," King exclaims a bit angrily.
Diane walks up to Elizabeth while King and Meliodas argue about the blonde's choice of clothing for the women. "He made you wear it too, huh?" Diane bumps the silverette's shoulder with her own. The silver haired woman nods. "You don't like it, do you," Diane continues, but it doesn't sound like a question. Elizabeth's eyes meet with the brunette's.
"W- Ye- I- That's-" she continues to stutter, but ultimately gives up. "No," Elizabeth mumbles.
"That's okay; I don't either," Diane puts a hand on her bare shoulder. "Just do your absolutely best, Elizabeth. That's all that matters," the brunette says with a smile. Elizabeth smiles in return, her aqua eyes shimmering in the light coming from above them.
"Yes, of course!"
{-}
She's deadbeat tired.
It's been nearly three hours and Elizabeth's energy has been drained from her body. If she knew the bar would get so busy, she would've taken Meliodas's offer on extending her break time. How does Diane do it? The brunette makes waitressing look so easy...
Elizabeth stares at the TV hanging from the wall by the bar. It's just a regular baseball game, but she's not paying attention to the game like the customers in the bar are. All she sees are blurring colors as she's lost in thought.
Is she making a good choice by agreeing to helping Meliodas expose the government? What is he even trying to expose them for? Maybe what her father said is true. The Seven Deadly Sins just want to see the government crash and burn. She will say, though; the people working in the government are terrible people. Especially the four Archangels. One of them has had a crush on her ever since Elizabeth's father became president. All he's ever done is shower her with gifts and kisses to her knuckles like she's some kind of princess.
It's horrible.
Suddenly, her vision is filled with blonde locks and those rich molten emerald eyes. His brows are slightly furrowed, his eyes hold some concern, and his lips harbor a small frown. "Elizabeth," Meliodas says softly. "If you're tired, you can take the rest of the day off-"
"No, it's fine," Elizabeth voices sourly. She means to walk over to the bar to grab people's drinks, but someone stands up from their chair, causing Elizabeth to trip on the chair from the sudden movement. She sounds a little squeak as she starts falling and she expects to hit the floor. But...
The floor never came.
As she opens her eyes she hadn't noticed she closed, Elizabeth realizes there's someone's face in between her bosom. Elizabeth looks down, and it's that same mop of blonde hair. His arms are wrapped around her waist and hips, holding her up.
Meliodas never fails to save her, does he?
Elizabeth stands up straight and when she looks at him, his expression is once again unreadable, but a small grin plays onto his lips. "Take the rest of the day off, Elizabeth, okay?" She frowns, feeling like she really fucked up and ultimately failed, but Elizabeth nods. She turns around, her head held down as she makes her way back to her room.
The silverette finds herself in her room, flopping onto her bed. She undoes the ponytail she forgot to undo, and her silver hair splays onto her back and around her head. Why does she feel like such a failure right now? Is Meliodas mad at her? If he is, he sure as fuck didn't show it.
A heavy sigh leaves her as she sits up on the bed. Her eyes dart to the bag Meliodas gave her, and she decides to change into something less revealing.
She stands up and grabs the bag and starts taking to the clothes out. There's a few t-shirts, pairs of jeans, and two nighties that look like the one Elizabeth has at home, only they're not see-through like hers. Thank God. She wasn't about to wear see through clothes with multiple people living with her. Especially if she's living with Meliodas. He already teases her enough; she doesn't need more.
Elizabeth changes quickly, enjoying the feeling of the silky material on her skin when she puts the nightie on. The silverette puts her bar uniform on her vanity and goes straight to bed. She covers herself with the blanket and closes her eyes.
Even though she wants to sleep, she can't help but listen to the voices coming from the bar. Nothing of what the people are saying really captures her attention, but then she hears Meliodas's voice. Maybe it's because his voice is muffled by the walls, but... He sounds more, relaxed? In a way, she supposes.
Listening to his words, she only makes out "she did a great job; she's fine". Was he talking about Elizabeth? Surely he was, right? Or maybe he was talking about Diane. Maybe that isn't the case either; the blonde could be talking to the brunette... Why is she wondering about this? She's just overthinking it. It doesn't matter what Meliodas is talking about. It's not any of her business.
The silverette turns to her side, her back facing the door to leading to the hallway. She tries to clench her eyes shut more than they already are, but she ends up slowly opening her eye lids.
Then, she hears her door open. She sits up on her bed to be met with her sight of Meliodas's moppy blonde hair, his green gaze immediately locks with hers. Elizabeth watches Meliodas softly close the door behind him. The blonde walks over to her bed and stands next to the bed, crossing his arms.
"Are you mad?" Elizabeth blurts out. Her eyes go slightly wide, but he just gives her a bright smile.
"No, of course not," he speaks. "I could tell you were really tired. Are you okay, by the way?"
"What? Oh, y-yeah," she stutters and blushes as she remembers the feeling of Meliodas's face in between her bosom.
The blonde hums. "Good. I was worried you might've hurt yourself," the man says. He sits next to her on the bed, their legs nearly touching. Elizabeth looks over to him, his emerald orbs already on her. The expression he held was indistinctive, and for some reason it bothered her to no end.
Her eyebrows furrow, "Why do you always have such an unreadable expression on your face?" She finds herself asking. Elizabeth sees his eyes slightly widen at the question, and he tears his gaze from her to his lap.
"I guess I'm just used to doing it so often. I can't trust very many people, y'know."
"I-I know that," Elizabeth sighs, looking at her hands on the blanket that covers her legs. "I can't either." She feels his gaze return to her, and she smiles but doesn't meet his eyes. "I... The last time I really put my trust into someone, they betrayed it at the worst time imaginable," Elizabeth says. She can't believe she's telling him this, but... She can't explain it. Elizabeth can't help but put some sort of trust in him.
Meliodas softly hums. "Let me guess," he says, his gaze still on her. "Ex-boyfriend, right?" Her eyes widen and she whips her head to look at him in the eyes.
"How did... how did you know?"
"I know it couldn't have been a best friend," Meliodas softly explains. "I've never seen people shelter themselves so much after they ended a friendship with a best friend. Plus, we had that whole conversation in the car about it. Either way, I was right. I won't force you to tell me what happened," he softly continues.
Elizabeth's mouth twitches into a smile. She closes her eyes and looks away from the blonde. "It's hard to talk about," Elizabeth quietly states. "It brings back a lot of unwanted emotions-" her eyes start to water at the thought of her previous relationship. "-but I got past it, right? I-It's n-not a big deal..." Faint tears fall from her tear ducts and onto her flushed cheeks as she opens her eyes.
Meliodas reaches his arm over to move Elizabeth's face to look at him. His right hand stays on her cheek, and his left hand wipes her tears. "It is a big deal," he tenderly tells her, his eyes locked on hers. "If you got past something so heartbreaking, that just means you're a strong person. You're able to get through anything." He puts his hands down and gives her a genuine smile. Elizabeth hopes her smile is just as nice as his appears.
"We're going somewhere tomorrow at around the time the bar opens, 'kay?" Meliodas tells the silverette. Elizabeth nods as she lightly sniffles. Meliodas gets off her bed and she lays back down on her bed. She closes her eyes, the lights turn off, but she doesn't hear the door open or close. What is he doing?
Suddenly, her question is answered as she feels warm and soft lips press onto her forehead, causing her to snap her eyes open and she blushes deeply in red. "Goodnight, Princess," the blonde whispers as he pulls away. When he looks at her, his emerald eyes shine in the moonlight that peaks in through the small slits in the curtains that cover the window.
"Goodnight, Meliodas," Elizabeth whispers back.
