"Where are we going?" Harry looked up at Laric curiously. They had been told they were going on another date today, but the Storm Demon hadn't told them where they were going, or what they would be doing.
The tall warrior smiled slightly, and pulled one hand out from behind his back. Three tickets were in his hand, and Fionn gasped softly before looking up at him with shining eyes.
"We get to see That Band? Really? I love That Song, from That Album. I never thought I'd get to see a live concert though..."
"That one is good. However, I have always liked That Other Song, better. I heard he was working on something new, but it is not supposed to be finished yet."
"Uhm... What band? What songs? Not that I'm likely to know them, but..." Harry looked super confused as he listened to them talking. Laric chuckled softly.
"The band we are going to see. Their name is literally 'That Band'. Their first album is called 'That Album', and two of their most popular songs are called 'That Song' and 'That Other Song'. I believe they wanted to make it easy, as people so often forget the names of songs. And having their name and titles that way, made it easy to remember, as well as amusing."
"It's a trio Harry. The lead vocalist is also the guitarist, and his twin sister plays the keyboard. There's also a drummer, Diana. All three are Fae. They've all been super popular for years, and tickets sell out fast." Fionn's golden eyes were still shining, he looked the most excited Harry had seen him yet. It practically hummed along the Courting bonds, as did the pleased relief from Laric.
"Not all of their songs and albums are titled that way of course. It was kind of a funny gimmick that took off. Louis writes most of their music and lyrics himself, Sabine has done a few, but by far Louis is the better writer and composer."
"We should go now, before most of the crowd arrives." Laric waited for them to come close, and then lifted his wings high. The heavy feeling of a storm approaching fell over them briefly, lightning arced between the tall warrior's wings, and with a CRASH of thunder, they were suddenly in the arrivals area of what could only be the concert grounds.
Other groups were appearing around them, and they were quickly waived towards a line forming to get into the venue itself. Laric presented their tickets, and one of the staff led them to a mostly empty area directly in front of the stage itself. They appeared to be no more than six or so feet away, with a barrier in between them and the actual stage.
The black haired warrior moved them so Fionn was on his left, and Harry on his right, one arm loosely around each of their waists.
"Being this close to a Mortal Realm stage, you would usually not be able to hear the band well. Their speakers point the sound towards the back of the crowd. However, our magics allow people to hear clearly no matter where they are standing. It will likely get crowded, so stay close to me. If at any time, you wish to leave, we can go. Even if the concert is not yet finished."
Harry could tell the last was mostly directed towards Fionn, as the Fae was still nervous in large groups of people. He couldn't stop look around them. Everywhere was filling up with people. Had he not experienced the Festival, it would be more intimidating. But since he had seen so many others during that week, it wasn't quite as awe inspiring.
Tall, short, male, female, Fae, Demons, Gargoyles, Incubi and Succubi, even a few Djinn were in the crowd. The Fae far outnumbered the rest, but he supposed that made sense since the band was composed of all Fae. As the area around them filled, he was grateful for Laric's strong arms. Afraid they would be separated if not for the sure grip of the Warrior. Suddenly the stage in front of them blacked out. He could not see any part of it anymore, as though night had fallen just on that area.
When it cleared, That Band had arrived. The singer and keyboardist were the two Fae he had seen the day he met the Lord of the Flame and Lady of the Storm. The Fae twins both had indigo hair and lilac eyes. Louis wasn't wearing a shirt, so the metallic, dark violet tattoo was more noticeable. His was on the right side, running from his hairline, down his neck and side, and disappearing into tight leather pants. He had black leather combat boots on that reached his knees, and a guitar hung across his body from a strap over his left shoulder.
Sabine had the same color hair, eyes and tattoo, but hers was on her left. She was wearing a black leather halter crop top that laced up. A black mini skirt, fishnets, and black ankle boots. The tattoo appeared to swirl along the bits of exposed skin, all the way to her knee where it stopped. Her hair was shaved on the left side, and instead of the fall of curls to her hips that he vaguely remembered seeing, it was straightened and put into gravity defying spikes like a mohawk.
Their drummer was androgynous, Harry couldn't tell what gender they were. Even from where he was standing, with the drum kit in the way and the angle of the stage, the most he could see was electric green hair done in small spikes, and a pale face.
Louis gave what looked like a practiced, slow smile as his eyes seemed to roam the entire crowd. Then, he strummed the first notes on his guitar and the crowd went instantly silent. He continued to play the guitar for a few more seconds in that silence, and then he opened his mouth and sang. It was a surprisingly light tenor, that was soon followed by Sabine's throaty contralto as well as the keyboard and drums.
From that moment on, the crowd started to roar approval. Louis' fingers flew over the guitar strings, and he moved around the front of the stage. Every time it started to get too loud, a whisper of air seemed to blow past Harry and his mateship, and suddenly the sound became softer again. At the intermission, an hour into the concert, the stage had that same strange night fall look again. After 15 minutes, the stage cleared and the concert was on again.
Harry felt the slight nervousness from Fionn because of the crowd, but it faded quickly as they were all swept away by the music. Laric's quiet enjoyment, a thrilled happiness, and a focused concentration that was almost too faint to feel. But he was soon sucked into the music and excitement of his first ever concert, and dropped the threads of emotion.
The final song of the night, Louis' voice spiraled higher and higher until with a final ringing note, he dropped to his knees and flung out one arm and everything stopped. Lifting his head, he looked out over the crowd, lilac eyes finally resting on Harry and the others before pushing himself back to his feet and bowing with the rest of That Band.
