I remember when it all started, that day so long ago. I remember my home planet Esneth, I remember the clear waters that flowed from the Great Lakes, the tall blushes trees that provided shelter to the many wild animals that roamed the never ending forests, and more than anything I remember the farmlands that belonged to my people, and how me and my little sister would play and frolic amongst the moistened soil and produce. I with certitude remember all of these thing and as so many years have passed me bye, these memories stand by me like an old friend. My name is Kron Glidjaro and this is a story of my battles, my suffering, a galaxy far far away, and of the Force.
The planet Esneth was one of the many new found planets that had been discovered by the Galactic Republic, the governing body of the whole entire Galaxy. This small planet located at the very edge of the Mid Rim was the place I was born and for many years I had called my home. It was a place of farming and business, of lush forests and life. It was here where my family for many generations had decided to make their living. This was the world of Esneth.
The sun began to rise over the green lands and soon the once darkened sky began to turn a lazy grey, a grey that excluded all energy. At this time as night transitioned into day I was sound asleep in my bed dreaming of aspirations that where never meant to be.
With irritation my body began to stir from underneath the covers and soon as if my body had a mind in its own, I began to rise from my bed, my eyes sagging with exhaustion. My father had drilled into me at a young age the importance of being diligent and as a farmer this truth was all the more necessary. It was my responsibility to wake up early in the morning, at a time before the suns rays touched the land. Holding this obligation for so long allowed my body to develop a certain muscle memory when came to waking up in the morning. It wasn't something that I was proud of but it was necessary.
I slowly began to stand up from my bed and as my feet touched the wooden floor a sudden chill ran up my spine. "Well another day arrives once again." My heart seemed to ache as I got dressed into my clothing, my finger tips trembled as I put on my leather gloves.
Ready for work I slowly open my door and as quietly as I could I tip toe to the front door of my home. I did not wish to awaken the one occupant left sleeping in the house filled with silent shadows. My mother and father at this early time where already out working in the fields therefor my 5 year old sister was left sleeping soundly without any worries. I was happy to hear the roaring sounds of my sister snoring. I wanted her to be happy, for I knew at that very moment that this would be her last day of childhood ignorance.
I opened the door and as I did my nostrils where filled with the scent of fertilizer and the fresh produce growing out in the fields. In the front of our little house rested my family's fields which was around 3 acres wide and in the middle stood my father who whore his favorite blue hat made from leafs of the Buckhorn tree, a sturdy tree who's leafs had strong healing properties.
"Look who's final up." My father said halting in his labor.
I smiled as my father began his jokes early in the morning. "What can I say dad I need my beauty sleep."
My dad laughed as he picked up the wooden rake from off the ground. "Well my boy your beauty sleep is over, for today is the season of the new dawn, and the new crop is in." My father smiled as excitement seemed to grow from inside of him. "Now come boy and help me, when your mother returns we shall brings all of these crops into the barn."
"Yes father." I said stepping into the fields.
The season of the new dawn was a time most cherished when it came to my people. It was my fathers favorite season and it was when the farm was at its most busiest. The Season of the new dawn was a time of rebirth and life, it was a time of the new crop which all farmers longed for, it was the end of the all consuming frost and the beginning of the pure blue sky's accompanied by the golden sun. It was a time that I honestly believed that I could do without.
No words where spoken as me and my father began to check on the new crop. The Boto Melons where huge this time of the year and fully ripe with nutrients. I hadn't eaten breakfast just yet so I was quite hungry.
"You seem to be lost in thought my son..." I focused on my work never thought I would hear the words of my father and yet his words drove me to a complete halt.
While leaning on the wooden rake my father looked at me with a smile. "Tell me my son what is on your mind?"
My heart beat grew faster as the darkness seemed to fade away from my soul and all of my secrets where laid bare. "Father what is to be my destiny?"
Hearing my question my father said nothing as he thought about my question.
My father smiled as he looked at me. "Destiny? I never thought you where one to think about such things."
I found myself tongue tied as I realized how my father spoke the truth and yet I still needed the answer to my question.
"My son I will not live forever, when my time comes you as well as your sister will inherit this farm which has been in our family for generations. Do you not know this?" My father asked as he placed his right hand on my shoulder.
"Father... I want more... I want to do more, be more than this." I spoke words of desperation as I looked at the green fields all around us.
"My son what do you mean? Is this work not honorable, is it not worth doing?"
"It is, and yet I still wish to see more father, I do not wish to be confined to this small world, I want to explore the galaxy."
My father looked at me with little emotion in his eyes. "Let me guess boy, you wish to run away and be a solder in the republic."
My eyes widened as my old man guessed my very dream.
"You are not the only one to have this dream my son, many Esneth children feel the same way and yet it is not meant to be." Father shook is head in denial.
"We are farm folk our blood lies in the soil that surrounds us, this place is where you belong and besides Republic solders are no longer needed. The empire is no more, the very galaxy has experienced 1000 years of peace that hasn't touched the star sectors for a very long time. Solders my son are no longer truly needed, farmers on the other hand are."
Anger filled my lungs as I let loose a long breath of frustration. "Today is Elizas day of birth. My little sister by midnight will be six years old and by tradition will no longer be considered a child, like me she will be required to get up early and work in the fields."
My father nodded his head in approval. "Such is our way."
"When it comes to her dreams, her own aspirations will you truly ask her to give them all up as well?"
Father turned away from me. "Get your head out of the clouds boy. It's time to grow up."
The rejection I felt was almost unbearable, Father was right the galaxy was no longer at war the republic was no longer in need of hero's and at that time I felt lost and more than anything I wished for action for excitement on that small world. This is what I wanted and yet I never knew or even understood what I would have to give up to receive me wish.
