Do I own this show? No but i'd like too. I wrote this rather late so it might be . .what's a cool phrase? lack-luster? ehh nevermind. . companion to alone. I'll love you forever if you review, even if you flame.
He liked the quiet; at least that's what he told himself. He wanted to be alone didn't he? It was a part of why he was in Africa in the first place. He needed time to be without them, his friends. Mostly it was to be away from him.
At first it was nice to be in Africa. He was alone and he was at peace with everything. Soon his tranquil solitude began to take its toll. He was lonely. He missed his friends and even Andrew to some extent. He wanted to call but they hadn't spoken in months.
He was on his own now and he could deal, couldn't he? Besides if they wanted to talk to him they could call. He began to resent them for ignoring him. Wasn't he important? He wanted to scream at them if he even saw or spoke to them again.
At least for the first few months he wanted to. After awhile he even began to forget his anger towards his friends and got into the routine with his new life. He would wake up, eat, train the local slayer and go home. He considered this his new normal.
The start of his day was rather mundane as usual. He woke up, went to the slayer he in charge with, they trained, he went back to his house. That's when his normal day ended.
Faith was in his house, unpacking a duffel bag and placing her clothes on the kitchen counter. Xander did a double take to make sure it was in fact his home. It was.
"Faith, not that I don't enjoy your company, but what the hell are you doing here? Is Wood here too?" He began looking around for any signs of him. Faith winced at the mention of "Wood" but shook it off.
"Um . . no. Just me. You don't mind do you? I got no other place to go and B has her hands full and a full house." Xander looked her.
"Sure. How is she? How are you? Still with-"Faith cut him off.
"No. Wood-we broke up. Or as I like to put it " the bastard slept with another slayerand I left town before I killed them both."
Xander moved closer to her and offered his hand to help.
"I'm sorry to hear that, I thought you two were great together. You seemed happy and you deserved that. I could get him cursed for you."
Faith laughed and shook her head.
"Nah, he's not worth that anyway. So do you mind if we're roomies for awhile?" She put her hands together in a pleading motion.
"Yeah, it's fine. Are you okay though? I mean it must have been awful seeing someone you trust betray you like that." Faith turned away from him and placed her hands on the counter.
" I'm five by five. It hurt at first, yeah but I'm okay now. I'll heal. I've been in a lot of fucked up relationships before. I'm used to this. I thought he was better but I guess I was wrong."
" This time was different Faith. You loved him didn't you?"
"No, I didn't." She faced him with a sad look her eyes.
"What?" Xander backed away due to his surprise.
"I never loved him. I came close though. He opened me up. I'll never forget that. I sound really cheesy don't I?"
"Maybe a little."
"Well what about you? How you are? You went zombie on us, you gonna be okay?"
Xander was quiet for a minute trying to think of something, then it came to him and, for the first time in what seemed like forever, he smiled.
"I'll heal."
