Chapter 42: Mental Connection

"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!" yelled Bakugo as he looked around as the city he found himself in. 'I found that sound bitch surrounded by animals and Deku was there, and now I'm in a city? What is going on here?' Suddenly several knives flew at Bakguo only for him to blast them away, "Nice try bitch!" yelled Bakugo as he tried to locate Hibiki above him.

"BAKUGO!"

Bakugo turned to Izuku, "Deku, where the fuck are we," the ground started to shake even more, "And why the fuck is the ground starting to shake?"

"Kaachan?"

"Huh?" Bakigo turned to see the child Izuku looking at him with tears in his eyes, frightened and scared. "What the hell is this?"

"This my friend," said Hibiki from up above on the roof in her PE uniform, "Is what a mental breakdown looks like."

"What?" was all Katsuki could say as he tried to wrap his brain around what was going on.

"Kaachan, Kaachan." Repeated the child Izuku as he started to cry.

"What the hell, why are you crying?" yelled Katsuki as he still had no idea what was going on, but he realized that someone else did, "Deku, what the hell is going on…" Katsuki then turned to look at the older Izuku who was on his knees clutching his head. "Deku?"

Hibiki chuckled as she walked up to Katsuki, "Wow I knew you two had history but I was not expecting this much."

Katsuki was getting pissed for not getting an explanation, he grabbed Hibiki by her shirt with one hand and sparked an explosion in the other hand, "You got five seconds to tell me what's going on here or I'm going to blow you to bits." The second he was done with his threat the ground shook so much they almost lost balance.

"Wow, you've done a lot of damage to him haven't you." said Hibiki with a smile on her face, which just pissed off Katsuki more, "Fine I'll tell you, we're inside Izuku's mind."

"We're in Deku's head!"

"Oh yes, and I'm going to take a guess and say you don't know what happens when you put someone's brain into someone else's head," Katsuki just gave Hibiki a glare. "Well usually nothing unless that person has had a massive impact on the brain that they are in," she then turned to look at the child Izuku, "And it looks like you've made a terrible impact."

Katsuki looked over at the child Izuku and noticed several bruises and burns shifting and appearing on his body, "What's….what's happening to him?"

"Oh come now Bakugo, I've seen your test scores, you're a smart boy, I'm sure you've figured it out by now." said Hibiki as she looked directly in Bakugo's eyes, "Those are all the injuries that you've dealt to him."

Katsuki was now shaking as he looked over at the child seeing several bruises and burns keep appearing and disappearing.

"My my, so many," said Hibiki, "You must have used him like a punching bag. Some hero you are, was hurting him a daily routine of yours?"

"Shut up."

"It must have been a lot."

"I said SHUT UP!" roared Bakugo as he grabbed onto her with both hands, "Get me out of here now! I'm causing all of this so get me out of here."

Hibiki just kept a smile on her face as she slowly turned her head, "Why do you think he hasn't said anything?"

Katsuki looked over to Izuku who was still clutching his head as if he was in pain, "Deku?"

Hibiki then leaned in close to Katsuki while he was looking at Izuku. "The answer is that he's remembering everything that you've done."

Katsuki felt a chill down his spine as he looked at Izuku. "Everything I've done."

"How about you take a look." Before Katsuki could react, she grabbed and threw him over at Izuku crashing into him causing the city and everything around them to crumble as the scene changed.

Katsuki stood up as they were now surrounded by a blank void but before he could say anything several images started to appear around them, "What the…" Katsuki then saw a younger version of himself in one of the images, "That's me." as Katsuki started to realize what was happening as he watched the images of his younger self attacking and bullying a young Izuku.

There were images of Katsuki and his goons attacking and making fun of Izuku over and over again, "Wow, I gathered he was bullied when he was younger but this is more than I expected," said Hibiki as she looked all the images, "Even some that have clearly been repressed."

Katsuki followed her gaze and saw a memory of the teachers from his old elementary school's nurse's office, his hearing focused as the memory of Izuku overhearing the principal talking to the nurse, "You don't want me to notify his parents?" asked the nurse.

"Of course not, if we do that then Katsuki Bakugo will have a mark on his record," said the Principal, "That has a future unlike the quirkless boy."

The memory then began to repeat as Bakugo began to understand why he was never really reported as a kid, "They covered for me."

"Oh not just you," said Hibiki as she pointed to another memory, this one was in middle school back when he and Izuku were first years.

Izuku was outside sitting on a bench, writing something in his hero journal as several third years started walking towards him, "Hey you're the quirkless kid, right?"

Izuku became scared as he was approached, "Uh, yeah I…don't have a quirk."

"Really," said another, "Didn't know you guys still existed, whatcha working on?"

"Oh just a notebook about quirks." responded Izuku as he held the notebook close.

"Really, well then how about you help us with our quirks." said the first before he punched Izuku with a lightning fist soon the others started to join in and beat the quirkless boy up.

Katsuki had no idea this ever happened or that fact that the teachers actually hid this from everyone else, "There's just no way they were able to hide this, what about his parents, surely they would have done something?"

"Don't hold your breath." said Hibiki, as she watched another memory.

Katsuki looked at the memory and recognized it as Izuku's apartment, Izuku was standing in the hallway listening to his parents talking, "What do you mean we should do nothing." asked Inko.

"I'm not saying we do nothing, Inko." said Hisashi, "but if we do something, sue the school, the student or even their parents we would just be shooting ourselves in the foot. The courts wouldn't listen to us and the school would just deny everything. We would just be planting a target on our back."

Inko couldn't deny that, "Then what are we going to do, switch schools, or maybe homeschool?"

"Switching schools or even boarding schools would cost a lot of money and home schools might kill his future." countered Hisashi.

"Then what do we do?" asked Inko.

Hiashi thought it over before sighing in defeat, "I don't know."

Katsuki clenched his fist as he had seen enough, "Why are you showing me this," as he turned to Hibiki who looked slightly surprised, "Are you doing this so I feel bad, guilty, well guess what, I already do!" he yelled, "I get, I fucking get I was a piece of shit and I just made his shitty life worse," he paused for a moment, "but nothing I do will ever change that."

Hibiki couldn't hold back any more as she burst out laughing hard. "Oh my god, are you serious, this has nothing to do with you." Katsuki blinked as he realized he was actually never told what was going on or why he was here, he was just lost in his own guilt.

"I brought you here to break Izuku."

"Wait, what!?" as Katsuki went back on alert with the shock of Izuku's repressed memories being pushed to the back for now.

"I brought you here to break, the great Demon Slayer," as Hibiki gestured all around them, "With that done, I have no use for you anymore."

"Oh hell no," said Katsuki as he got into a fighting stance, "You are getting out of his his head right now or else I'm going to give you…" Katsuki stopped his threat as he saw something behind Hibiki, as it stood between Izuku's memories. It stared back at Katsuki sending a chill up his spin, 'What the fuck is that thing, is it from Izuku…no that thing is absolutely not from him.' concluded Bakugo as he completely forgot about Hibiki as the monster looking at him was by far the greater threat. The creature in the distance was clearly the shape of a man but it was shadowed and unable to clearly see aside from the chains holding it back. "What is that monster," said Katsuki under his breath.

Hibiki ignored his muttering, "Any who, since I have access to Izuku's memories, you're not needed." as she placed a hand on Katsuki. "Good bye."

Katsuki then remembered Hibiki, "WAIT BEHIND-" was all he said as he was rejected and sent out of Izuku's brain.

But Hibiki heard his warning and turned around and scanned the area, only seeing a memory of a boy stealing Izuku's toy he brought to show and tell. 'Hmmm nothing but memories, what was he looking at?' Hibiki thought for a moment before closing her eyes.

Bakugo opened his eyes as he was now back on the floor and couldn't move his body, 'Shit the poison is still in my body,' as he remembered the snake, 'NO!, Fuck the snake.' Screamed Katsuki in his head as he forced his body to move, slowly but surely with the power of his will Katsuki began to move his body as he slowly moved his arms, 'Shit just moving my arms slightly is a fuck and a half.' as he shifted himself enough to see Izuku still standing and still under the spell of the mind quirk thanks to the squirrel that was on his head, 'I gotta get that damn rodent off of his head before she messes with his head.' Katsuki then slowly raised his arm but struggled causing his hand to shake, "One shot and…" Katsuki froze as the words left his mouth as the images and memories of him hurting Izuku as kids flooded his mind and Hibiki words. "Shit…." as he closed his fist and slammed his it on the floor, "FUCK!" Katsuki then mustard all of his strength as he pushed off the ground onto his hands and knees. "Come on, dammit!" as he pushed himself closer to Izuku, extending his hand out to Izuku. "Wake up, nerd!"

Just as Katsuki was about to reach Izuku, his shadow expanded beneath him, swallowing him whole.

In the arena Shika was dodging ice left and right as Shoto kept sending wave after wave at her and it was just annoying Shoto. 'Why can't I hit her.' as he sent another wave of ice covering the ground of the arena.

Shika jumped over the wave, landing on the ice, for the briefest of moments Shika wobbled before quickly regaining her balance, 'This ice is a pain in the ass, i can't get close at all, and the only thing keeping me from being tossed out of the arena is my deer instincts helping me keep balance on the ice.' she then spun sideways to dodge a giant shard of ice coming at her.

"WOW look at that dodge," came Present Mic's voice. "Even though Shoto has been trying for several minutes now to get her out of the ring, she keeps dodging like a pro."

"Not helping," grumbling as Shoto tried to freeze the area again, this time bigger than before in an attempt to incase Shika in ice. The massive flood of ice approached Shika who turned her brain off and completely followed her gut as she jumped from ice to ice as she got higher and higher until she was standing at the top of the mountain of ice. Shoto stared up at her in annoyance, 'She's becoming a problem and is more difficult than I first thought.'

Shika breathed heavily as she looked down at Shoto, 'This has become a battle of endurance and will, a battle I won't lose.'

Hibiki looked around the memories, "Now then where oh where are the organised memories," said Hibiki out loud as she started to wander around Izuku's repressed memories, "You know I have to hand it to the brat, even with all these memories holding him back, I'm surprised he didn't off himself."

"That's because it would have hurt the people I care most about."

Hibiki whirled around to see Izuku standing hunched over looking as if he just got done fighting All Might, that alone wasn't a surprise but the fact he was standing was surprising, "Holy shit, what are you made of? You should be swimming in a pool of nightmares right about now. You just relieved every repressed memory in your life, plus all the negative ones with Bakugo, how the hell are you even able to collect your thoughts."

'This quirk is weird, it doesn't make sense but I have to go with it.' Izuku was struggling to focus but stood his ground, "You're right I did see the worst moments of my life, it hurt and brought back a lot of painful memories but I also saw some of the best," as the memories around them changed to that of when Izuku and Katsuki were kids dreaming about being heroes, "I won't be brought down by the past anymore, sure I got a lot of unresolved issues but I ain't going to let that stop me." his mother playing hero with him, then it changed to his new friends hanging out after school. "They need me and I believe so do you."

Hibiki groaned as she looked at all the memories, memories of Izuku talking to Yuki, meeting Ochako, Kirishima, and hanging out with Melissa, Yae and Eri at Yushiro's house. "So sweet I can feel my stomach going sideways."

"Agreed."

Hibiki felt her spine freeze as she heard the voice, she pun around her eyes darting around in an attempt to locate the voice, "There shouldn't be anyone else here but me, who said that?" She then spun around to Izuku. "Who was that?"

Izuku didn't respond as he felt fear and horror like he's never felt before, even though he had never heard the voice himself before he knew who it belonged to, the precursor of all quirks. "No...no..nonono." as he shook his head in disbelief. "He's dead."

"Death is not the end, boy." came the voice again as the scene around the two shifted and changed as the memories faded and they soon found themselves in the interior part of a mansion.

"Where are we?" asked Izuku as he didn't recognize the new setting.

"This...this is my house, this is the main house of the Uzui family," said Hibiki as she recognized the place, "But we're in your head and you've never been here before."

"Yeah go go power puff." came a young girl's voice through the halls.

"What the?" asked Izuku as he was more confused now than before.

Hibiki then walked down the hall to an open door to a living room where a small girl was standing in front of a tv holding a doll in her hand as she watched the cartoon. Izuku instantly recognized the girl by her hair as she was a young Hibiki. "That's you, we're in one of your memories."

"No," whispered Hibiki under her breath, "not this one."

"Why are we watching this?" asked a boy a few years older than Hibiki, sitting on a couch holding a small guitar.

"Jam's right," said another boy spinning a knife in his hand, "As assassins in training, why are we watching a show about heroes, especially a girly one at that."

The young Hibiki puffed out her cheeks and turned to her cousins in annoyance. "Now, now." said a third boy sitting on the windowsill carving a wooden flute with a knife, "It's Hibiki's break time, if she wants to watch her show then she can and if you guys want to watch something else you can always go to another room." This earned a smile from the young girl as she turned back to her show.

Hibiki knew what this was and didn't like it, "No, not this…"

In the stands Rei watched her son struggle with his opponent, "Shoto."

"Man this is lasting longer than I expected," said Mitsuki, "It's almost been ten minutes."

"I think it might be a bad match up," said Inko, "Deers are often shown able to run and move at full speed even in the middle of winter, that girl's quirk is keeping her ahead of his ice, but…"

"It's not going to help her take Shoto down," said Natsu. "They both are getting tired."

Fuyumi then leaned and shouted, "Shoto, switch up your strategy."

"I don't think he can hear you over the crowd, sis."

Rei stood up, "SHOTO USE YOUR FIRE!"

This shocked the Todoroki siblings including Shoto, who despite the cheering of the crowd heard his mother's voice clearly. "...Mom…"

"I don't want you to not accept yourself, I'm sorry Shoto, please don't reject it, it's yours and always has been, please."

"Mom…"blinked Fuyumi in surprise.

Natsu stood up." You heard her, show them what you got."

Fuyumi then stood up following her mother and brother, "It's time to move on so use it, win."

As he heard these words the arena and his opponent disappeared as he heard his families's words and saw them cheering, "Natsu… Fuyumi….Mom…"

'NOW!' Thought Shikia as she saw her opponent pause, she dashed through the field of ice, dashing directly at Shoto, 'He can only make ice on his right side so I'll aim for his left.' as she was about to grab his left arm to throw him out, flames erupted from his left side. "Fire!?"

Shoto then came to his senses of the situation as Shika was thrown off by his sudden flames from his left side, 'NOW!' as he slammed his right foot down making a pillar of ice, hitting Shika directly sending her out of the arena.

"WINNER SHOTO TODOROKI!" announced Midnight causing the stadium to cheer.

Shoto then went down to his opponent as he saw she wasn't getting back up. "Hey you alright?"

Shika was breathing heavily as she stared up at the sky, "Oh I'm fine, just tired, I can't really move my body right now, I ran too much."

"Yeah but that was impressive you were able to dodge my attacks for all that time."

"Thanks."

"Excuse me Shoto," said Midnight, "Can you help clear the ice please." as she pointed to the winter wonderland that he had created in the bottom of the stadium.

"Oh right."

"Okay folks give us a few minutes to clean up the ice and reset the arena for the next fight." announced Midnight.

While Izuku was curious about the memory he was seeing he was more concerned with how Hibiki was acting while looking at her past and the fact that this has never seemed to happen to her before.

Suddenly they all heard the sound of the main entrance doors opening, "They're back." yelled the young Hibiki as she rushed to the main doors.

Before Izuku could ask, Hibiki slammed her fist against the wall, "NO! I'm the one who fucks with peoples heads here, I'm the one controlling the quirk here." she yelled, her voice clearly laced with rage, making Izuku realize this wasn't a happy memory.

"Actually you're wrong," came the voice, "It belongs to the squirrels, you're just borrowing it."

"Come out, who are you!" demanded Hibiki. "Are you one of the teachers, do you work for Yushiro?"

"HAHAHAHAHA," laughed the disembodied voice as the house around them darkened, "That fraud is nothing more than a fake," seethed the voice with venom in his voice. "I have always been here."

"What?"

"I am in everyone, this includes the quirked animals and the quirkless."

"You're not making any sense."

"Quirks exist because of me back when they were powers of my most loyal subjects, don't believe me ask the boy, he's the reason I'm here now."

Hibiki turned to Izuku who was clearly thinking before his face turned to horror, "Hibiki, you need to get us out of here now, don't listen to him, pull us out now before he does anything else, we can't let him get out."

"What are you talking about?" asked Hibiki as her fear slowly rose, "No one is in here but us."

Clank went the sounds of chains down the darkened hall. "Oh no, I have been here since the day you were born."

Clank

"Even the day before your parents were born."

Clank

"You can know me now because he knows me,"

Clank

"We can finally talk because I'm controlling the squirrels."

Clank

"To think that the simple defenceless brains of rodents would be the key to connecting us." As the man came out of the dark, wearing a simple kimono with chains around his ankles and wrists. "I am Muzan."
