"Come on Chongyun!" Candice shouts out, dragging him along.
"H-Hey!" He says back, a bit uneasy about the dragging. "Where are we even going?!" He asked her.
"Like I said, to Fantina's Gym!"
"Who is that?!"
"You'll see!"
They entered inside a building. The first room was gray, and there were two statues. They looked like a Pokemon.
"Wait here, I'll get Fantina." She said, before reaching into her pocket and getting a key out. She walked over to the backdoor and opened it. She walked in, leaving Chongyun alone.
He took the Poffin off his mouth, a part missing. He chewed it, and found it good. 'This isn't like anything Liyue has...' Taking another bite. And in mere seconds, the Poffin is gone.
"I should tell Candice later." He says to himself.
"Hm..." Looking around at the scenery, nothing special stood out expect for the door ahead and the statues. He walked over to the statues plate, seeing two names on their.
Dawn, Barry, and Lucas.
The plate stated which trainers defeated Fantina. 'Hm, so these three defeated her? Impressive.' He thought to himself.
"Oh Candice, bonjour bonjour!" Fantina greeted the 8th Gym Leader in.
"Hello, Fantina..." She greeted her back, waving at her.
"What brings you in here? Would you like some tea?" She asked her.
"Ah no thanks, Fantina! I'm good! In fact, I came here to talk about something..."
Fantina blinked, but snapped her fingers. The room instantly turned into a room. "Sit darling, what has you worried?" She said, pointing over to a table as she walked over there.
Candice walked and took a seat, as so did Fantina.
"So I meet this boy-"
"AH! Does young Candice have a crush?!"
"WHAT-NO!"
She shook her head, turning red at the spot. "Fantina, I swear this isn't what I came here to do!" She pleaded with her.
"Hm...Go on, darling!" She let her speak. Candice could've sworn a Gengar was beginning to show itself, looking at her and Fantina.
'Probably one of Fantina's Pokemon...' She thought to herself.
"Candice, are you looking at my Gengar?"
She jumps, surprised. "Fantina, can you read minds?!" She asks her.
"Oh absolutely not! You were just looking above me and my Gengar was resting on my head! Even I did not notice..." She shakes her head.
"Hahah..." She nervously smiled at her, laughing it off. "So back to what I was saying, I meet this boy in Snowpoint. He was able to fight back against my Pokemon without having any-"
"...What?"
Fantina blinks, surprised and confused. "Candice, people can't fight back against Pokemon that easily." She says.
"I-I know! He said he isn't from here, and he has a claymore and Ice powers!" She tries explaining to her.
"Ice powers?! Candice, is this boy one of those 'magic users?!'"
She's silent, before clearing her throat. "So...you saw the news too huh?" She sighs.
"Oui. And what about the boy? Did he also see it too?"
"No. I was in the Poffin House while it aired, me and him made a deal and he choose to stand outside."
"Hm...He is with you, oui?"
Candice darted her eyes a bit. "Yes? Please don't hurt him!-"
"No no, I wish to test him!"
"...Eh?"
'When is Candice coming back?' He wondered to himself, as he started chowing down on a popsicle. He sat there, waited for about 10 minutes. 'Patience is key, Chongyun. Remember that.' He told himself, taking a deep breathe.
"Is this working?"
A intercom said, making the former look up ahead.
"Hm, ah yes it is! Dear challenger, go through the front door to battle I, Fantina!" It said. He got up, and went to the door. He twisted the knob, but he let go of it.
'Is this a trap?' He thought to himself. He summoned his claymore in his hands, and opened the door.
Inside the room, there was a woman with a large purple dress. Behind her seemed to be three Pokemon, but he didn't know what type of Pokemon they were.
He walked in, it was very quiet.
"You are Chongyun, oui?" The woman asked him, eyeing his claymore.
"...Yes. Did Candice tell you?" He started to grip his claymore even more, out of instinct.
"Ah oui! You are correct! She did tell me! Now then, shall we battle?"
The lights turned on, showing Candice sitting and watching the battle. She waved at Chongyun. "Haha...Hey!" She said.
He sighed, relaxing himself a bit. "I accept your battle." He said.
"Fantastic! Gengar, go!"
Gengar vanished and reappeared on the battlefield. Chongyun gripped his claymore, holding it in front of him. The Pokemon's claw began to glow and it ran at him, slashing at his claymore. He kept his eyes on the Pokemon, still blocking every single attack.
"Shadow Ball!"
The Pokemon floated away from him and charged up a ball in its arms. He saw this as a chance to strike, he raised his claymore and ran to it. He jumped, and was about to attack it.
"Hmph! Now!"
There was a Sucker Punch attack, he hit the ground with a thud. He looked and saw another Pokemon, a Drifblim.
'Get up!' He told himself. The Shadow Ball hit him, making him fall back down. His claymore was still in his hands.
The Drifblim got closer to him, to use another attack.
'NOW!' He told himself, summoning Cryo into his claymore. He got up to his feet and attacked with his claymore with all of his strength at the Pokemon, taking the Pokemon out of surprise. The Pokemon floated above, away from his reach.
'His injuries? Did they heal fast?' Candice wondered to herself. 'There's no way anyone can get back up from those two attacks that fast!'
"Hm? You attacked my Drifblim with a Ice attack, yes?" Fantina looked over at him.
"How can you tell?"
A bit of ice stuck onto Drifblim, inabiliting her movements. "My Drifblim is a Flying and Ghost type Pokemon, meaning it has a weakness to Ice. Did Candice teach you a thing or two?" She asked, withdrawing her Drifblim back into her Pokeball.
"..."
"Well then, shall we continue? GENGAR GO!"
His shadow began to take shape into a Gengar. The Pokemon kicked him, making him lose his balance. Chongyun lunged at it, holding his claymore. The Pokemon vanished again, making him halt.
He looked around, gripping his claymore, as he tried to look for any sign for the Ghost Pokemon. "...This Gengar, it can reappear and vanish. But..." He closed his eyes.
His shadow grew larger and larger, no longer resembling him. He clenched and slammed down his claymore. He summoned three giant swords, around himself. He opened up his eyes and turned around. The swords hit Gengar, and he strike it.
The Gengar fainted and hit the ground with a large thud.
Chongyun looked at where his injuries were. They were gone, completely. "Strange..." He said to himself.
"OH FANTASTIC! FANTASTIC I SAY!" Fantina cheerfully shouted. "WITH YOUR MOVES, YOU COULD BE PART OF THE RIBBON SYNDICATE! IN FACT, LET'S START RIGHT NOW!" She walked over to him, still going on and on.
"FANTINA NO!" Candice ran over, getting in front of Chongyun.
"Oh hah! Acting protective over your crush, I see?" The woman said, smirking at her.
"Fantina, I said I don't have a crush on him!" She shouted out, before looking back at Chongyun. "Go ahead, answer away my sir." She sighed.
"What?" He asked, a bit confused.
"Well you see-"
"Oh don't worry, Candice! I'll explain to him! I made a deal with her that if I win this battle, I get to ask whatever I want from you. BUT! If you won, you can ask me anything and I'll give you my honest answer!" She explained to him.
"Oh I see. For my first question, are those Pokemon really Ghosts?" He asked.
Fantina gave him a confused, looking back at Candice and him. "Oui? Of course they are, you don't think they are?" She said.
"No it's just...Thank you for letting me defeat a Ghost for the first time ever!" He smiled at her.
"Chongyun, aren't you a exorcist?!" She said.
"I am, but I have never exorcised nor encountered a Ghost before. So," He bowed to Fantina. "Thank you."
Candice backed away, with only one thought on her head. 'He doesn't know Froslass is a Ice AND Ghost type Pokemon, oh my god I forgot to tell him!' She slowly despaired, while keeping a smile on her face.
