"Just tell us everything you remember. Take your time, there is no rush."

Beca looked at the detective sitting across from her. She was out of the hospital bed, and in the large chair meant for visitors. A blanket draped over her lap, was giving her something to focus on and fiddle with as she struggled to get her thoughts together.

The results from the X-ray came back the day before, telling them she didn't have any more broken bones, aside from the two fingers they knew about as well as the cracked rib. Her ankle was sprained and wrapped, and they were pleased to find no internal bleeding and luckily only a minor concussion.

Aubrey and Chloe had been asked to wait outside while she spoke to the detective and while Beca didn't like it, she didn't fight it.

"Have you found him?" She asked quietly and looked up at the Man sitting across from her.

He smiled sympathetically. "They are still looking, but I assure you, he will be found."

She looked back down, her eyes tired and red rimmed. She hadn't taken the news of Jesse fleeing the hospital well and when she was unable to get to sleep, they finally gave her something to relax her and allow her to rest for a few hours. She hadn't been awake long when the detective walked in, introducing himself as Detective Kendrick, and asking if he could speak with her.

"Um, I- where do you want me to start?" She asked.

He leaned back, with a notepad in his hands. "Well, the beginning would be best, but if you want to first start the day that he took you to his apartment and kept you against your will, that is okay too."

She sighed and looked to her left, out the window. The sky was blue, speckled with clouds. Bright and sunny, the opposite of what she was feeling. It almost annoyed her. She would rather it be raining. Dark clouds, wind whistling and rain soaking you to your core. That matched how she felt. She looked away from it and back to Detective Kendrick.

"He showed up at the rehearsal space, on campus." She started. "We were supposed to meet that night, he was going to pick me up from the house."

"Was this Friday?" He asked as he wrote.

She nodded. "Yeah, Friday afternoon, just after two." She said.

"And by house you mean the Barden Bella's house on campus?"

"Yes, the big white one, next to the Treble house."

He nodded as he wrote the info down.

"And he is the captain of the Treble Makers A Capella group?" She nodded. "But he has his own apartment."

Another nod was his answer and he wrote more down. She cleared her throat before continuing.

"We had just finished rehearsal and we were all hanging out, talking about who had what plans over the weekend when he came in."

XXX FRIDAY XXX TW XXX

Beca had just dropped down on the lowest bleacher next to Stacie, a water bottle in her hand when the doors to the rehearsal space were pushed open. Everyone turned to see who was coming in, expecting it to be Chloe as she usually showed up at least once a week to help with choreography. However, it wasn't Chloe and the relaxed but tired smile Beca had worn fell from her face and she tensed slightly.

Stacie who was right next to her, felt the shift in her posture and looked at her curiously.

"Hey, just because you and Captain Short stack are a weird and cliché happy ending doesn't mean you can crash Bella rehearsals." Amy joked as he walked over.

"Ha ha, Amy, Bumper is at the Treble house waiting for you." He said and she rolled her eyes even as she was grabbing her things.

"Bye Pitches!" She called over her shoulder as she left out the side door.

"Hey," Beca shook off her surprise and stood up. "I thought you were picking me up tonight?" She asked.

"Changed my mind. Wanted to start a bit early." He said as he reached her and kissed her cheek.

"Oh, well we were going to go get some lunch, and I still need to shower and change-"

"You can do all that at my place." He cut her off and the other girls who had gone back to their conversation, used to Jesse's presence stopped to look at them.

"You have everything you need at my place already," He said gently, grabbing her hands. "Come on, I'm excited to spend the weekend with you."

Stacie and Cynthia-Rose were closest to them and gave each other questioning looks.

"Oh, um. Sure, I guess that'll be fine." She said letting his hands go and turning away from him to collect her bags.

Stacie lifted her laptop bag up for her and gave her a confused look. "You okay?"

She gave her a tight-lipped smile. "Yeah, I'm good." She said taking the bag. "Thanks."

"Have a good weekend guys, don't get into any trouble we have a lot to do next week." She winked at them before following Jesse out.

They said their goodbyes and tried to carry on their conversation, but everyone was curious about the exchange Beca and Jesse had. She hadn't mentioned a weekend with him but didn't argue with him about it either. Emily looked a little upset, letting out a frustrated breath and Flo dropped down beside her.

Stacie watched them all the way out and her brow furrowed when Jesse wrapped his hand around her arm and tugged her out the door. She stood up and hurried to the door, but by the time she got across the space and opened the door, Jesse was getting into the driver's side of his car and pulling away.

She walked back in, and practically ran into Cynthia-Rose.

"Whoa, you okay?" CR asked stepping back.

"Yeah, was that weird?" She asked walking with her back to the group. CR nodded.

"Very, B didn't mention anything about leaving for the weekend." She said as she shouldered her own bag.

"I don't think she did."

They all looked at Emily who was looking at her phone, "Look." She said holding it out to show a text conversation between her and Beca that morning.

Stacie took it and read it. "You were supposed to hang out tomorrow and go over music?" She asked handing it back to her. "Yeah, and we talked about seeing if you guys wanted to do a Bella's movie night with Chloe and Aubrey." She said.

"Maybe something happened between this conversation this morning and this afternoon with her and Jesse." Flo said as she started for the door.

Stacie pursed her lips picking up her own bag and following the other girls out. Something felt off.

"When we got back to his apartment, he took my laptop bag and my bag for the classes I had that morning."

Detective Kendrick sat up in his chair as he listened.

"He acted normal in the car. I knew he was upset, because we didn't have plans that weekend, and I knew that him showing up at the rehearsal acting as if we did meant he was angry about something and wanted to talk about it."

"Is this normal behavior?" Kendrick asked.

She looked down; her brow furrowed. "Recently, yes. But, nothing like…like this weekend. When he came in, in front of everyone…I knew I had to play along with him. I knew that if I didn't, whatever had angered him, wouldn't be my biggest worry." She said and Kendrick could see she was starting to struggle.

"Do you need to take a break?" He asked.

She looked up at him. "No, but… I would really like it, if maybe Chloe could come in? No offence to you or anything, I just… I would feel more comfortable talking about this, with her in here?"

He smiled kindly, closing his notebook. "Of course. No offence taken." He said standing up.

"I'll go find her. Would you like a cup of coffee while I'm out there?"

She relaxed a little, at his calm demeanor. "That would be great thank you." She said as he walked out.

She let her head fall back and rest against the chair. She wasn't fully ready to talk about what had occurred over the weekend. She honestly didn't want Chloe to know those details, but she needed the support. She needed someone to keep her grounded while she told all the horrible things she endured at the hands of her boyfriend.

Benji and Donald were sitting in the kitchen of the Bella's house, with Stacie, Emily and CR. Everyone else was in class and Aubrey and Chloe were at the hospital with Beca.

"I can't believe this is happening." Benji said leaning on his elbows on the counter. "I never thought he could be capable of anything like this."

"He has been acting different lately, more aggressive, but still… whatever happened, whatever he did… I didn't think he had it in him." Stacie said.

Emily, who had grown close to Beca had been in a funk since they found out Jesse had something to do with Becas fall. She wanted to be at the hospital but she had class and Stacie did her best to help Benji keep her on her schedule. Everyone else was already all over the place and she could tell the younger Bella was in a bad place.

"I can't believe he ran." Donald said leaning back in his chair. "Coward."

They could hear the anger in his voice and see it on his face. He and Benji had become very close to Jesse. The three of them were like brothers. Now, they both just wanted to see him pay for whatever it was he did that put Beca in the hospital.

Emily's phone buzzed and she looked at it, reading a message before perking up.

"It's Aubrey. She asked if I would pack Beca a bag of fresh pajamas to bring to the hospital." She said and CR smirked at her.

"I'll drive us over when you've finished." Stacie said and Emily stood up and hurried out of the kitchen.

"That was sweet." CR said.

"Well, Aubrey texted me asking if I would do that. I told her to ask Emily, I know how worried she is and that she wants to be able to help."

Benji finally cracked a small smile. "Thanks for that." He said and Stacie nodded.

Emily walked up to the third-floor bedroom that Beca had shared with Amy for a couple of years, but now had to herself as Amy took Chloe's old room. She had just walked into the closet to grab a bag when she heard something behind her. She turned around wondering who had come up with her, before freezing.

Jesse stood on the other side of the closet door.

"Jesse? What are you doing here?"

He looked tired, like he hadn't slept in days. She looked around, seeing a pillow on the floor of the closet, and a blanket that looked slept on.

She felt her breath catch. He had been in the house that night. No one even knew where he was.

He looked at her cautiously, and she could see he was panicking. He hadn't expected anyone to come into her room.

Emily lowered the bag in her hands. The momentary surprise turning to fear. Then, anger.

"You shouldn't be here." She growled. "We know what you did."

She watched him as his muscles stiffened and his jaw clenched. "I didn't do anything." He shook his head.

"Yes, you did." She said. "That's why you ran. You hurt her, didn't you?" She demanded.

"Shut up, Emily. You don't know what you're talking about. I didn't do anything, I got scared. Of course, they would blame me, I'm her boyfriend. They always blame the boyfriend."

She shook her head. "No."

His cautious expression turned hard.

"Keep your mouth shut." He pointed at her.

She dropped the bag. "You shouldn't have come here, Jesse." She said and tried to walk out of the closet past him.

She wasn't expecting him to grab her however, and fling her to the back of the closet where she hit a shelf that broke and came crashing down onto her.

The noise seemed to startle him and he gave her one last look before bolting down the stairs.

The noise had alerted everyone in the kitchen and Stacie and Benji were headed for the stairs when they heard thundering footsteps on the second floor. They made it halfway up the first flight of stairs when Jesse appeared at the top of them. Everyone stopped and stared in shock.

It was then they heard more rushing footsteps and Emily's voice. "Stacie!"

That snapped Jesse out of his daze and he shoved past them on the stairs, nearly knocking them down before jumping the last few and bolting out the door, Donald and Benji right behind him.

Emily met Stacie and CR on the landing and Stacie grabbed her pulling her into a hug as she broke down crying.

"He was…" She gasped. "He was here the whole time, in Becas closet."

CR was already on the phone, calling the police and going out to the porch to see which way they chased after him.

Stacie held Emily as she cried and tried to get her bearings. He had been in the house since the morning before. She felt her stomach twist. He had been there while they slept that night. Waiting. Waiting for Beca to come home.
