Sycamore groaned, feeling an awful headache about to come in. He forcefully picked up his head from the pillow, wiping his eyes. "Ugh…" He sighed, extremely tired. Tossing the blanket, he remembered what happened.
Dexio and Sina had persuaded him into sleeping. Well, they did it with good intentions.
"I don't deserve good assistance from them…" He told himself, getting off the bed. He looked at the countertop, specifically at the alarm. It was 12 AM, he really needed sleep after all.
"Oh Professor, you're awake."
Now that was a voice he didn't recognize. Well for a minute or two.
Noelle walks in, with Sina and Deixo hiding behind her. In her hands was an lantern, freshly lit. And the other, a full on stack of books.
Even he didn't know how she could do that. He pointed at the books. "Why are you carrying those books?" He asked her.
"Research, sir." She simply said, she walked over to the bed, placing down the lantern on the opposite countertop from his side. "But we are not talking about that. Professor Sycamore, please get some rest. Tomorrow, we'll be taking you to the doctors." She said, opening up the metal frame.
"What? Oh no no no! I'm fine! I'm completely fine!" He laughed it off, shrugging his shoulders.
Dexio raised his hand up. "Professor, overworking yourself with loads and loads of work isn't healthy. It's dangerous." He said, glancing over to Sina.
"We know you're working hard on Mega Evolution, but you're stressing yourself." She said, nodding along side Dexio.
"…I'm fine. I can assure you I'm fine. You don't need to worry about me at all. I'm fine." Sycamore said, taking a deep breathe in and out. "And I just had some rest, so I should be all fine and dandy! Where's the office?" He added on.
Of course the three didn't buy it one bit. From Sycamore's nervous smile to those heavy eyebags underneath.
Noelle didn't take action, instead it was Sina and Dexio to do it. Considering they were closer to him in terms of work, they understood him better than she did.
Deixo grabbed hold of Sycamore's arm, but not squeezing it. "Sir please, get some rest. That's all we're asking. We're concerned about your health and-"
The lights turned off suddenly. There was an moment of silence between the group. Noelle immediately shut the frame, closing it and grabbing the handle of the lantern.
"The lights…shut off." Sycamore said.
"They did. How strange…" Dexio said, agreeing with him. "Sina, can you check up on the service panel? If you can't get the power working again, check the grid please. I'll take Sycamore down to his office." He asked Sina.
She nodded, turning to Noelle. "Would you like to accompany me?" She asked the maid. The maid smiled, nodding.
"Of course." She said, but than she looked over to Dexio and Sycamore. "Will you two be alright? There's only one lantern here and-"
"…We have some spare matches in my office, and that's where my Pokemon are in." Sycamore interrupted her, explaining.
Stepping off the elevator, Dexio immediately rushed over to Sycamore's desk with the very professor following behind him. He opened up the cabinet, filled with office supplies and a few more other things.
But reaching farther into it, he pulled out a box of matches. "Ah, there they are." Dexio said, before getting a match and striking it.
Sycamore grabbed the Pokeball in there, putting it away in his pocket. Dexio looked at him with curiosity.
"Sir, what Pokemon was that?" He asked him.
"I believe it's Garchomps. I always keep her Pokeball inside my cabinet, just in case something happens." He said. "I do think we have a spare candle in here somewhere…" He said, before wandering off.
Dexio was left there, with the lit up match in his fingers. He looked back at the cabinet, noticing something shiny being illuminated by the moonlight. He picked it up, squinting his eyes to see what it exactly was.
It was a Mega Stone. A Gyaradosite. "When did the professor have this?" He asked himself, in curiosity. "PROFESSOR!" He shouted, as Sycamore ran back to the desk.
"Yes? What is it, Dexio? Did something happen?" He asked, having a unlit candle in his hands. He glanced down, eyes widening realizing what Dexio was holding.
"Professor, when did you have this?" Dexio asked.
Sycamore took a deep breathe, in and out. "I found it in the aftermath of…what happened." He said, giving the candle over to Dexio as he sat down on his desk.
Dexio lit up the candle, with the match in hand. He placed down the candle on the desk, than looked up at Sycamore. "Sir, what happened wasn't your fault, no one could predict that-"
"I know, I know." Sycamore interrupted him, looking back at him. "But I could have prevented it right?" He asked himself.
Dexio felt compelled to do something, but didn't say or do anything.
Sina opened up the cable box, with Noelle standing right besides her holding up the lantern.
She looked at the wires, tilting her head to the side. "Strange." She said, Noelle raising her eyebrows.
"What is it?" Noelle asked her.
"These wires have been cut." Sina said. "But there's no one here at all." She turned around, her words standing true.
"Hm. That is strange." Noelle looked down, putting her hand on her chin. "Maybe-"
She turned to Sina to find her gone without a trace.
Noelle summoned her claymore, the weapon piercing through the floor. She picked it up with such ease, and with only one arm.
"Whoever is there, show yourself." She threatened, it was rarely she'd ever get angry.
Than from the shadows, an stone suddenly strike the wall, missing Noelle by a thread. She glanced at it. Sharp, durable, could do a lot of damage to someone.
"Ah what a performance!"
An applaud of clapping played out. Noelle knelt down, placing down the lantern to her feet. She knew this man's voice, as she heard it earlier this day.
She pointed her claymore at Lysandre, as he dare walk closer to her. "You are…Lysandre." She said to him.
He stepped back, smirking at her. "Hm! How strange, you didn't know me when we first met. I thought it was a pure chance when I saw you!" He said, raising his hands up.
"Where is Sina?" She asked him first, still pointing up her weapon.
"…Out of any question, you ask that? Not how am I alive or why I'm here or-" He raised his eyebrows at that question.
"Where is she?" She asked again, raising her voice up at him.
"Fine. Mienshao!" He yelled out, stepping back as his Pokemon came in front. Mienshao was holding Sina hostage, wrapping around her mouth and body.
"A Mienshao…Originally from the Unova region, right?" She asked him, glancing down at the lantern below. "Your Mienshao's ability seems to be…Inner Focus and it's a male too." She stated, before moving in a flash to Lysandre. Pointing her claymore at his chest.
The man simply smiled, but he looked shocked himself. "Hm, impressive! You moved quite fast!" He told her.
"Let Sina go now. She has nothing to do with this." She said, voicing her demands.
"I would. I would most definitely would." Lysandre grinned, before snapping his fingers.
Sina let out a muffled scream, as the Mienshao started to squeeze her tight. Choking her.
"SINA!" Noelle shouted, ready to swing her weapon at the Pokemon.
"Step back. NOW!" Lysandre demanded from her, as his Mienshao kept squeezing the poor assistant.
Noelle glanced over to her, before stepping back away from Lysandre. The man grinned. "Good. You know her life is on the line this very moment." He said, snapping his fingers again. This time, his Mienshao stopped, Sina letting out muffled puffs. "Now then, with that being said. I do have a favor to ask of you." He said.
"What is it?" She asked him, skipping to the question.
"This may sound weird and kinda…inappropriate. But I need some of your Geo energy or powers, whatever you'd like to call it. It'll be quick and fast, and in return I'll free Sina." He said, smirking. He reached into his pocket, pulling out an oddly shaped Anemoculus Resonance Stone…She knew about the stone because of Aether's travels, but how would Lysandre have something like this here?
"So, what do you say?"
Noelle reached her hands out, accepting Lysandre's demand. He placed it on her palms, as the maid's Geo Vision starting to glow in the dark.
Noelle lifted her claymore slightly, towards the stone, and concentrated to herself. Her Vision started to glow, as her powers burst. A small trace of her powers went into the stone, leaving a small yellow glow dimming from it.
Noelle gave it back to Lysandre. "Let Sina go, please." She asked of him. "I did what you wanted me to do." She continued.
"Heh. Maybe this trip wasn't so stupid now." He told himself, as Mienshao dropped Sina to the ground.
"N…NOELLE!" Sina cried out, running and hugging onto the girl's arms. "I'm sorry I couldn't do anything, Lysandre's Pokemon creeped up behind me and took me away!" She explained to the maid.
"It's alright." Noelle simply said, before standing up, looking up. "I filled my end of the deal. So you're leaving, right?" She asked Lysandre.
"Leaving? That's not all I wanted to do here, I just came in to share the bad news." He said, taunting Noelle by booping her nose. The maid immediately swatted his hand away.
"Bad news…?" Sina lets out, raising her eyebrows at him.
"Yes. Calem is no longer with us, I'm afraid."
Sina takes a gasp, covering her mouth. Noelle assumes the worst now. And with a quick swift, she kicks the lantern to the right, shattering the only light source.
"What the-" Lysandre lets out, unable to see in the dark.
"MIEN!"
There's a thud sound, along with something breaking. Noelle kicked his Mienshao to the wall with no effort. She's able to see in the dark, while he's not.
"U-TURN!" He commands out loud, his Mienshao forcibly returning to its Pokeball. He has to guess he didn't grab Zygarde and Xerneas' Pokeballs.
And by a miracle, he sends out his Honchkrow and Pyroar. His Pyroar jumps at Noelle, but the maid ducks the attack.
"Honchkrow!" Lysandre calls out, the bird coming to his side. And with that, the man dashes to the elevator.
"NOELLE! LYSANDRE WENT TO THE ELEVATOR!" Sina cried out, her eyes slowly adjusting to the unexpected darkness.
"Right!" Noelle ran, heading towards the elevator but being stopped by Pyroar.
Pyroar circles around Noelle, but the maid doesn't look distracted. It jumps at her, claws showing. Instead of slashing at her, it sends out Flamethrower, catching her off guard.
"Ugh!" She cried, but she uses her Vision to put up a shield around her. The shield blocks the flames, the Pyroar slashing at it, trying to get through the maid. Noelle swings her claymore at the Pokemon, the Pokemon backing away.
THUD
There was a large crash, coming from the right. Noelle turns, the elevator cab gone.
"PYROAR!" The Pokemon leaps at her, the maid quickly raising her claymore up to block.
"I can't get distracted!" Noelle tells herself, eyebrows furrowing.
Sina digs through her pockets, taking out a Pokeball. She gulps, sending it out, revealing to be a Meowstic. "Meow-" Sina covers up the Pokemon's mouth, putting a finger on her mouth.
Telling the Pokemon to be silent. She moves her hand away from her Pokemon, nodding her head. Meowstic nodded back, while Sina crawls to take a peek behind the desk. Noelle is fighting against the Pyroar alone.
"Meowstic, Reflect and Light Screen. At the same time." She said to her Pokemon, pointing over to Noelle.
"Meo…" Meowstic nodded its head, closing her eyes. The Pokemon gathers all of its energy, before opening up its now glowing blue eyes.
"MEOWSTIC!"
"Hmph!" Noelle kicks the Pyroar away, the Pokemon flying back and hitting the wall. But suddenly, the Pokemon is trapped inside a block. A block made out of nowhere too.
Sina rushes over to her side, grabbing her arm. "THERE'S NO TIME!" She tells the maid. "WE NEED TO HURRY TO SYCAMORE AND DEXIO! THEY COULD BE IN DANGER!" She explains to her. "Meowstic will take care of the Pyroar! We need to go now!" She continues.
Noelle nods her head, obeying the assistant. "Right." She said. The two run over to the elevator. Their eyes full of joy turn into dread once realizing the cab is gone.
"Did…Lysandre-"
"Hold on tight."
"Huh?"
Noelle walks back, than starts charging. She grabs Sina's hand, and jumps inside, grabbing the wires.
"Noelle?!" Sina shouts, trying her best not to look down. "When were you this strong?!" She asks the maid.
"Sina, I'm afraid there's no time for that. Please hold on, I'll get us to the floor." Noelle says, eyes filled with determination.
"What was that?!" Dexio asked, running over to the elevator.
"Dexio, wait!" Sycamore cried out, following after him. What appeared in front of him, shook him down to his core.
Lysandre.
He was all well and fine.
Dexio's hand shaked, before sending out his Meowstic. "H…How are you…alive Lysandre?" He asked the man, his voice trembling as he pointed a finger at him.
Lysandre's Honchkrow floated besides him, hovering mid air. "It seems like everyone's asking me the same questions today." Lysandre scoffed.
"YOU BASTARD!" Sycamore shouted, letting out his Garchomp. The Dragon charged at Lysandre, Honchkrow letting out a Shadow Ball at it in defense.
"…You didn't have the guts to attack me…" Lysandre whispered to himself, hand reaching and grabbing his Mienshao's Pokeball. He had to remember the Pokemon was injured, severely or not, because of Noelle's sudden attack.
"How are you here." Sycamore demanded from him. Dexio gulped, before looking at the professor.
"Lysandre, did you somehow come here for a battle? Because if it's a battle you want, it's a battle you'll get." Dexio said to him, looking back at Lysandre.
"I would have. If it were not for Noelle and Sina…" He said, sighing. "And I thought cutting off the power was a good idea." He added on.
Dexio gasped. "That was you?!" He asked.
"Yes, and perhaps not my best plan. But I didn't come here to fight actually." Lysandre explained. "I came here bearing grave news."
"…You came here, at 12:36 AM, cut off the power, possibly hurt Noelle and Sina, just to tell us something?" Sycamore asked, confused.
"…Yes." Lysandre simply coughed out.
"Well, what is it?!" Dexio asked.
"Calem has passed away, sadly." Lysandre said.
Sycamore's heart sunk to the floor, hearing those words. "…Ex…Excuse me?" He asked. "Calem's…dead?" He said.
"Yes, an unfortunate accident I must say." Lysandre sighed.
Dexio thought something wasn't adding on. How exactly did Lysandre know about this? They haven't received any news concerning Calem. "Wait…Lysandre, how do you know that Calem's gone?" He asked the man.
Lysandre was silent.
Sycamore realized what Lysandre did.
"You killed Calem, didn't you."
Than all chaos went loose.
Sycamore must have been holding onto the Garchompite, as his bonds reached to Garchomp. His Garchomp transformed into Mega Garchomp.
Lysandre quickly sent out Mienshao and his Gyarados into the battle. He would need everything to fight against a Mega Evolved Pokemon, but he couldn't use It right now.
Meowstic set up Reflect around Mega Garchomp, as the Dragon rushed into battle. Striking down Mienshao, as the Pokemon protected itself with its arms. Honchkrow flew in, using Dark Pulse, hitting Meowstic too. But the attack proved ineffective against Garchomp.
Dexio looked over to Sycamore, the man falling down to his knees. "SIR!" He shouted, running over to him. He grabbed his arm up, as the Pokemon kept battling.
Gyarados grabbed hold of Garchomp's hand, holding it down to hit it down to the ground with its tail.
Sycamore let out a muffled cough, before standing up thanks to Dexio's help. "I…I need to stay focus. For me and Garchomp." He told himself.
Noelle hoisted Sina up, the girl pulling herself up. From there, she helped up Noelle.
"WATCH OUT!" Noelle cried, as a Shadow Ball let loose their way. The maid quickly pulled out her claymore from off the ground, and slashed the ball in half.
She looked to see a exhausted Mega Garchomp and a fainted Meowstic. While on Lysandre's side, nearly all of his Pokemon expect for Gyarados had fainted.
Lysandre looked behind him, cursing himself under his breathe. Now he has more problems to deal with. And that's when he had enough of this game. He reached to pull out a Master Ball from his pockets and grinned.
"XERNEAS COME ON OUT!" He yelled, the building beginning to shake.
Noelle ran over to Sycamore and Dexio, Sina following behind her, summoning up a shield around them. "Dexio, Professor! Are you two alright?" She asked the two, slightly turning to see them.
"Yes we are…fine." Sycamore weakly said, collapsing on the ground.
"PROFESSOR!" Sina and Dexio said in union, running over to him.
Garchomp fainted, revolving back into its previous form.
And finally Xerneas came into form. Noelle would be lying if she didn't say it was beautiful. It truly was, but sometimes, the most beautiful things can kill too. It looked at her, as she looked back at it.
"Moonblast." Lysandre ordered it. The horns around Xerneas began to glow, illuminate through the darkness. Then a beam of light blasted, attacking the Geo shield.
Noelle pushed through, trying with all of her might for the shield to withstand the beam. Lysandre looked unimpressed, his eyebrows furrowing as he saw Noelle keep on fighting.
Dexio and Sina were busy with Sycamore's state, leaving Noelle to cover for them.
"I…won't let you hurt them!" She shouted, summoning her claymore into one of her hands. "I made a duty to help them! To help these people who saved my life!" She continued, tears beginning to fall down.
Her claymore began to glow, gathering around the strength of her Geo. She held up the claymore with both of her hands, as Xerneas kept blasting.
"I won't…"
"Xerneas, more!" Lysandre shouted, as the Legendary obeyed him.
The shield had its first crack. Noelle looked down at the floor, wielding her claymore. She knew what needed to be done.
The shield formed two cracks. Three cracks. Four cracks. And until finally, a shattering piercing sound cut through the field.
"I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY WITH THIS!"
Noelle swung her claymore, a large dust cloud forming.
Xerneas and Lysandre getting caught in the attack. Lysandre's heart stopped, almost thinking he was dead for a second. But he looked down, his left arm dismembered, laying on the ground.
"XERNEAS-"
The Legendary nearly collapsed to the ground, but it had a bit of fight in them still.
Lysandre knew he couldn't win. And so with a single breathe, he whispered out to the getaway Pokemon. "Teleport…" He said, his Pokemon and himself vanishing away.
Noelle stood there, motionless. "Lysandre is…He's gone." She whispered to herself, not paying attention to the dismembered arm laying there.
Her mind stopped, remembering someone. "Professor Sycamore…!" She yelled, running over to him.
"Noelle, he's not waking up!" Dexio cried, shaking Sycamore's body. "He's not waking up!"
She looked over to Sina.
"Professor, Lysandre is gone, please get up!" The girl begged.
Noelle knelt down, placing her hand on his chest. Checking for his pulse.
At 12:48 AM, Professor Augustine Sycamore died from exhaustion. His two assistants, Deixo and Sina, being the only witnesses to this death.
