Prologue:
"Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, and to all of you watching from your living rooms across the country, thank you again for joining us tonight for the Tremane, National Pokémon Championship opening ceremony. We hope you have had a fantastic day here at the stadium, but before we wind down the celebrations, we have one last surprise for you."
The atmosphere in the crowded stands of the stadium began to electrify with excitement as the announcers spoke with gusto.
"We are honoured to be here with you tonight as we bear witness to one of the greatest match ups in the history of Tremane."
The two announcers, one dressed in a suit of red and the other in blue, could be seen across every monitor in the venue as they stood in the centre of the match field. They turned to each other and began to chuckle excitedly. The one in red turned his gaze back to the camera in front him.
"You are absolutely right Ted, the excitement in the air is as electrified as an angry pikachu with a cold. Tonight, in this beautiful city we call Trinity, we have not one, but two legendary pokémon trainers ready to put on one hell of a show for you all." Roger said, as he held up two fingers.
The crowd erupted into cheers and whoops and Ted chuckled, "Alright, alright. Let's not keep these eager fans waiting any longer Roger."
The lights in the stadium dimmed and the huge rectangular, multi-directional viewing screen descended from the framework that held it suspended above the stadium. Vertical beams of light burst into existence around the border of the arena grounds and the ambient lights slowly began to cycle through a multitude of colours, building in intensity and speed.
Ted and Roger spoke in a perfected unison that could only be achieved by a lengthy career of commentating together, "It is with greatest pleasure that we can introduce to you, tonight's match mediator and chairman of Poké-tech. Please put your hands together for Logan Grey!"
The lightshow erupted into a burst of light before fading to darkness and a rousing piece of music filled the air. The crowd fell silent as a beautiful pink Celebi descended from the rafters, followed closely by a vibrant green one. They fell in a spiraling dance, trailed by their magical glittering auras as they made their way towards a shadowed figure that stood on a platform hovering above the field. A beam of light faded into existence on the figure as the two Celebi arrived to float about his shoulders and the crowd once again burst into cheers and whistles.
"Please give a round applause for my two companions." Logan Grey said, lifting his hands up to gesture to the two majestic Celebi.
He let one arm fall and used the other to stroke his short dark beard before running a hand through his dark hair. With a gesture the crowd began to quiet down.
"Thank you for that very warm welcome. It is a great privilege to be here in this wonderful city and it is an even greater privilege to be able bring to you, this exhibition match." Logan straightened out his dark grey suit jacket, smiled and then looked into the camera drone that hovered a few feet away from his face. "Now without further adue, join me in welcoming our compatants."
The crowd clapped and buzzed as the moniters and viewing screens changed and Logan began to speak again, "You know this young man and his pokémon well." The screens began showing a series of images that flashed random body parts, hinting to the identity of the individual Logan was introducing. "He won his first inter-school pokémon championship at the age of twelve. He then went on to dominate his way through regionals, before spending a few years competing overseas. This young man returned last year to compete in this very arena, where he seized the title of Tremane's Pokémon National Champion. Please put your hands together for your champion. The one, the only, Ketchwick "Ketcher" Burges and his Lucario!"
The crowd erupted with cheers and screams before chanting his name. There was a flash of light and fireworks began to pop and crackle around the northern arena entrance and out strode Ketchwick. An up beat song rose to play over the speakers and he began waving to the crowd. His shaggy light brown hair swayed slightly in the artificial breeze of the stadium and his grin nearly met his dark green eyes. He turned slowly so that he could see every occupied stand, slid his black jacket aside and swiped a poké ball from his belt before tossing it over his shoulder. It bounced and then sprang open with a fizzle of colour before revealing Lucario standing a few feet away from Ketchwick. Ketcher completed his turn and then strode to Lucario, putting his arm around the pokémon's shoulder as he passed and then they made their way to the arena field starting zone.
"And his opponent for the match," Logan said as he gestured to the southern entrance and the lights dimmed again. "I can say this with utmost confidence. There is not a single person in Tremane that does not know this young lady's name."
The screens began to cycle through another series of images and Logan's smile widened as the curious chatter in the crowd became frantic. he chuckled, "While she has won her fair share of titles in the pokémon circuits, this trainer has spent a good few years studying the behaviour and nature of pokémon alongside Professor Truffelo and Doctor Rita. She has a deep connection to pòkemon that I have never seen before and upon reaching the qualifying age of eighteen, entered last years national championship. Unfortunatly though, through the actions of some rather underhanded individuals, she was kept from reaching the finals and instead she went on to foil Team Vortex's plans to destroy this great city."
The noise level in the stadium erupted as the identity of the trainer Logan was speaking about became apparent.
Logan held both hands out in a grand gesture, "Yes folks, you guessed it."
Fireworks erupted around the southern archway as Logan made a grandiose gesture toward it, "Please put your hands together for the Saviour of Trinity and Tremane's favourite daughter, Kiani Rose and her gardevoir, Diva!"
