So keeping a consistent update schedule while in college is quite hard. Sorry for the shorter chapter there wasn't much to write for this chapter that couldn't be just rolled over into the next. Good news is the next chapter should be much longer as it cover the entire exam.
Once again a huge thank you to my friend Predator2027 for helping me edit this chapter!

Victory had to suppress a groan. After they arrived in port and managed to dry dock Victory, the veterans were left with a few days before repairs were complete and decided to spend it on researching the new world they were in. They wandered the city, entering every bar and restaurant that they came upon asking for information, until they were directed upon the local library, where they had spent the last few days ,from opening to closing, reading every book, article and newspaper that their eyes found informational in learning about their new home 'Remnant.' As the stacks of paper in front of Victory grew, so too did the throbbing pain in her head.
Feeling her eyes about to burst from strain, Victory decided to give her eyes a break, closing them as she took stock of their current situation. By far, the biggest problem was money. While ever since they were turned into shipgirls and did not require maintenance nearly as often ,nor was it as expensive as before their transformation, it would still need to be done eventually, and considering the uniqueness of their design in this new world, it wouldn't be cheap . On top of that, both she and Constitution still had to meet basic human necessities of food and water, and all compounded by the fact that they had no money or a way to earn any. This led into their other problem which was actually two problems wrapped into one: The Grimm and the profession of Huntsman and Huntresses. Their fear of Monsters like the Sea Feilong being commonplace were not just outright confirmed, but expanded when they learned that there were land-based Grimm as well. Thankfully, there were groups of people whose entire careers were dedicated to exterminating said monsters that actually paid quite nicely. This profession would be perfect for the veteran pair, if it weren't for the fact that to be licensed they needed to attend one of the four academies in this world and they were physically too old to attend the schools as normal students. The most logical next step would be to talk to the Headmaster of Beacon Academy, a man named Ozpin. But the chances of the Headmaster giving, as far as he would be concerned, two older women with no training from some far off village from the middle of nowhere with no records of their existence, admittance into the academy was slim at best.
"Can I assume your research is going well?" Came the familiar voice of a certain frigate from behind the Napoleonic Wars Veteran, her words laced with sarcasm.
Victory opened her eyes and sighed before she retorted, "Splendidly."
Constitution chuckled before she turned her head and saw the librarian giving her a look.
"I think we should go, it is quite late." she suggested.
Victory confirmed her statement with the clock across the room. The first rate nodded at the frigate before she rose from her chair. She gently picked up the book she was previously reading from and placed it back where she had originally found it before regrouping with her companion at the front of the library giving the librarian a curt smile as they left, to which the librarian only returned with a disinterested nod.
The walk back to the docks was quiet as both of the women were deep in thought. Or at least it was until Constitution decided to break the silence.
"Did you know this world has already had a world war?"
"Oh?" she noted with peaked interest. She had heard of the Great War but hadn't had the chance to read about it in depth yet.
"Yea, it was Atlas, then called Mantle, and Mistral vs Vale and Vacuo. Mantle and Mistral wanted to suppress the individuality of its people. Vale disagreed, and tension that came from that disagreement boiled over as eventually a settlement dispute escalated into a full blown war between Vale vs Mistral and Mantle. Vacuo ultimately joined Vale when they realized that Mistral and Mantle would just conquer them once they were done with Vale. Eventually, Vale and Vacuo found themselves the victors."
"How?" Victory said as she studied the night sky. She had always loved the starry night. From the moment she was first built to the moment she first gained human eyes, the stars in the night sky had always managed to take her breath away. Although she felt homesick as she realized while similar the stars were still different from Earth's.
"Apparently the King of Vale himself led the armies of Vale and Vacuo when Mantle and Mistral tried to cut off Vacuo's Dust supplies. He ended up decimating the enemy so thoroughly that they were forced into peace talks." Constitution said bringing Victory out of her stargazing.
"So we currently reside in one of the victors," Victory commented, "Yet one of the losers is currently the strongest military force in the world? Ironic."
"Indeed," Constitution answered, "This war is also how Menagerie came about as the Faunus were given it for their participation in the war."
Victory hummed, "Maybe we can get a job or two in Menagerie, I have heard that they could really use the help." She suggested. She had already glanced over a map of the global wind patterns. If they left now the winds would be favorable long enough for them to reach Menagerie, Although it would take awhile.
"I do not think They would appreciate two humans showing up regardless of our intentions," Constitution replied, "Besides we should actually make sure that there are no job opportunities for us in Vale before we risk our lives hoping around the world."
Victory hummed in response as her strategic mind raced on what was the best step forward as they arrived at the docks
A series of explosions brought the shipgirls out of their thoughts. Both veteran's heads snapped to the source of sound to several bullheads circling a certain area of the docks. As they landed groups of people came out wearing white vests, black hoods, and Grimm masks.
"White Fang...what are they doing here?" Victory asked eye's narrowing. She remembered how multiple newspapers mentioned the terrorist group and the devastation they caused.
"I don't know...Should we investigate?" Constitution suggested.
"I do not know. It might end up being more trouble than it's worth. There are likely laws preventing people from interfering if they do not have the right authority."
"Shouldn't we at least take a look?"
Victory sighed, "fine, But we let the professionals take care of it and we only act in self defense."
Constitution nodded as she drew her flintlock and began to slink towards the commotion. Victory sighed, she had a real bad feeling about this.
Victory made sure to follow behind Constitution and cover her from the shadows. The Frigate was more than likely going to engage and Victory made sure she would be prepared for any situation that might arise. Constitution eventually managed to find and hide behind some boxes that had a clear view of the battlefield as did Victory.
There was a young man and a young woman fighting a man in a bowler hat. The two kids seemed to be faunus if the boy's monkey tail and the girl's cat ears were anything to go by. They also seemed to be holding their own surprisingly well even with the White Fang and the man in the bowler hat attacking them at the same time. The weapons and the clothing of the boy and the girl suggested that they were Huntsman or at least were in training. By Constitution's lack of interference she also appeared to realize this. Unfortunately, their neutrality ended when a group of six White Fang approached Constitution. From the way he held himself and the fact he was the only one of two to have a gun, and by the looks of it the only automatic, The leader of the group aimed a gun to Constitution.
"Put your hands in the air, human!" The leader shouted in a male voice before he unleashed a burst of gunfire towards Constitution. Constitution quickly dove to the side behind cover.
"Come on out girlie we don't want to hurt you," The man said as Constitution silently tried to flank and tackle the man to take him hostage. Unfortunately, right before she could tackle him he spotted and smacked the frigate with the but of his gun causing Constitution's head to snap back. Only to be shocked when Constitution brought her head back and there was only a light bruise.
"Brothers, what are you made of? Metal?" The man said, commenting on how hard hitting the lady felt.
Constitution chuckled at the irony at the man's comment before she answered, "Maybe.."
The man appeared to not appreciate the frigate's answer as he raised the barrel of his gun to her face, "We will see if you are so cocky when there is a bullet in your brain."
"And like that, you have signed your death warrant." Victory whispered to herself. The ship of the line drew her flintlock pistol and was ready to do as battleships do.
Victory announced her presence by stepping out from behind some boxes and presenting her flintlock. Before The White fang could react to the new contender, The warship commenced the battle and pulled her trigger. There was an initial small flash followed by a more substantial larger flash along with a crackle that pierced the air. This was immediately followed by the White Fang Leader's head quite literally exploding, spreading blood and gore everywhere and on everyone.
"Your Leader is dead. Surrender and you will be spared his fate." Victory declared with almost no emotion. Her demand was met with a brief silence before they began to reattack. However, Constitution used the hesitation to draw her flintlock, firing it at the only other White Fang member that wielded a gun, the round striking through the man's chest. As the body of the now heartless White Fang member unceremoniously crumpled, Constitution and Victory did not pause as both drew their respective sabers to engage the remainder of the squad.
A deer-antlered faunus and a fox-eared faunus were the White Fang Constitution was to take care of; said Terrorist's also decided to attack the the Frigate at the same time. Constitution dealt with that by kicking and breaking the deer faunus' right kneecap, Constitution next used the opportunity this action created to side step the fox faunus' attack. With deer faunus now disabled and vulnerable , The frigate proceeded to effortlessly sliced the jaw off the deer faunas which caused the man to gurgle before he collapsed. The Fox Faunus looked to be angered by the death of his friend and furiously attacked Constitution with his machete. The attacks were so strong and fast that Constitution was forced to go on the defensive, or at least she was until the faunus in his anger overextended. Constitution did not hesitate, with a flick of her wrist the frigate sliced the man's wrist open which caused the man to drop his weapon. Constitution then stepped forward to slice the Man's neck which caused blood to spray everywhere.
Meanwhile Victory decided on a more direct approach. The two faunus that Victory faced were a dog eared and a larger bear eared faunus. The veteran decided to deal with obviously stronger bear faunus first. Said faunus brought up his mace in a defensive stance. A smart but ultimately useless choice as Victory stepped forward and swung her saber as hard as she could. The blade sailed through the air, once the blade met the mace, through sheer brute force, cleaved right through the mace and sliced open the man's chest. The man managed to grunt and bring his hand up to his wound before he collapsed due to blood loss. Victory did not see this as she already had moved on to the dog faunus. The boy had a machete and had it raised, but, instead of being angered by the death of his friend, the boy seemed terrified with the grip on his weapon shaky. Victory did nothing with her face betraying no emotion as she held her saber in a defensive stance. The boy eventually lost his nerve and went to strike Victory with both hands holding his machete. Victory saw this coming a mile away; however, instead of using her blade, she used her off hand to grab the boy's wrists and used her strength to crush said wrists causing him to drop his weapon. This caused the boy to cry out which was cutoff when Victory threw the terrorist onto to his back.
The dog faunus tried to get up, only for Victory's boot to step on the boy's chest which kept the boy pinned.
"Surrender." Victory said coldly as she pointed her flintlock at the terrorist.
"Go ahead, make me a martyr for my kind!" The boy spat back.
As Constitution came up behind her, Victory chuckled before she mocked , "A martyr? You will become a laughing stock, your entire team was killed within seconds of facing two human women with outdated weapons."
Before the Faunus could retort, Constitution interjected, "Aw look they are even abandoning you as we speak." The boy looked only to see that the frigate was right. The White Fang was leaving en masse in bullheads. The boy looked shattered by the revelation as simply nodded and dropped his arms. Meanwhile Victory and Constitution took this time to notice some new arrivals in the form of some girl in a red hood and a ginger with a dress with black and green boots.
Police sirens were heard as Huntresses seemed to meet and talk to each other or at least they were until the one with cat ears saw Constitution and Victory. However, before the girl could approach, the police arrived. The girls also seemed to be distracted by the arrival of additional people that seemed to be their friends.
As the police closed in, Constitution and Victory backed away from the White Fang and stowed their weapons.
"We are fully willing to cooperate," said Constitution coolly. She then gestured to the White Fang member, "Look we even captured one for you."
Ozpin sighed as walked to the room that held the two foreigners. He already expected Team RWBY to get in some trouble, knowing that a team that held the daughters of Raven, Taiyang, and Summer, the Weiss Schnee, and a former terrorist were bound to cause him headaches. But these new arrivals worried him, their entire confrontation with the White Fang had actually been recorded. He had talked to the local authorities about the origins and background of these characters, and learned that records of them were basically nothing before they arrived in Vale except for their own account that they came from a group of villages that fell to Grimm.
Could they be with her? Ozpin thought to himself. There was currently too little evidence to answer that definitively. Something that would need to be rectified as soon as possible.
The man was brought out of his thoughts when he reached the door. His assistant Glynda Goodwitch, who had been walking beside him the entire time, opened the door to the holding room. As Ozpin laid his eyes on the girls he noted that they had not changed their bloody clothes.
"Do you two prefer being covered in blood?" The headmaster asked, "I'm sure we can provide some spare clothes."
"Headmaster Ozpin, I am Victorious and this is Connie." The Blond answered as she gestured to herself and then her friend, "As for your question, these clothes are very precious to us, and we have knowledge on how to get the blood out too. There is no need for spare clothes." The brunette meanwhile just nodded.
The headmaster nodded at their answer before he asked another question "You know of me?"
"Yes, We learned about you when we were researching Beacon Academy," Victorious answered.
"Oh and why were you researching my Academy?"
"Well you see sir," Victory started, "Where we come from we were warriors; however, our respective villages were destroyed by Grimm and we were forced to flee. We would like to repay the Grimm the favor but in order to do that and earn money we would need to become Huntresses. Unfortunately, to do that we need to attend Beacon, of which we are too old to attend as students. We were just about to contact you to see if you could help us with our situation, before all of this happened."
"Well before I answer that let us talk about what happened tonight," Ozpin said, "But due note your response may affect my decision," Both women nodded.
"So let us start at the beginning, Why were you two there in the first place?"
"We were returning from the library. We sleep on our warships so we need to pass through the docks to get to them," Connie said.
"We saw the commotion that the White Fang were causing and we got curious. However, once we saw that it was being handled by those Huntresses we were going to leave it to the proper authorities when the White Fang caught Connie." Said Victorious.
"But you yourself were not, Why did you not get the attention of the 'proper' authorities? I'm sure they could have saved your friend."
"Maybe but I had to reason that my friend's life was in great danger and needed immediate intervention." Victorious said.
"So you decided to kill the leader of the White Fang team?"
"My friend's life was in danger, I do not regret my actions." Victorious stated with no remorse.
Ozpin nodded, "I understand the sentiment. Speaking of your actions, you dispatched The White Fang member remarkably quickly and efficiently, where did you learn such moves?"
Connie spoke up, " Where we come from we were warriors on the very warships we entered Vale on. While some of it is training, most of it is experience. We have fought in many wars. Our respective tribes have even fought twice and I myself have even participated in one of them."
Ozpin raised an eyebrow, "But you guys seem to get along fine."
Victorious chuckled, "Tensions eased greatly after those conflicts. In fact, our Villages had some of the closest relations of all of the others before they...fell."
"About your villages, you said they were destroyed but never how."
"Well as you might have guessed, our villages liked to fight each other a lot. All of those wars against each other attracted Grimm... eventually their numbers got too big for any of us to handle." Constitution said with only a slight hint of sadness.
"How did you two escape?"
"Victorious and I were actually meeting in an important port of my village called Pearl Harbor when the Grimm attacked. We tried to defend the town but there were too many. We were pushed back to the port. We just managed to cast off before the entire port was consumed in flames. In the chaos we were forced to flee." Constitution explained.
"Did anyone else escape?"
Victorious let out a heavy sigh, "Not that we saw. And most of our Allies had already fallen so there was nowhere we could really go, except for Vale."
"You knew of us?"
Connie chuckled, "Know is a generous term. We only knew of your existence and nothing else."
Ozpin hummed as he thought, "I think we can help you with your Huntress problem, if you two apply to Beacon as Teachers you will be first hired as assistant combat teachers from there you two will be required to take classes and tests that are remarkably similar to the student curriculum. Should you pass all these I will be able to pull enough strings to get you two Huntress licenses, " Both of the woman nodded but before they could verbally respond Ozpin continued, "However, before all this can happen you two will need to take test in order to find out if you are capable of being a teacher in the first place. Normally this takes the form of a written exam and physical exam. Although, since you two are applying to be combat teachers and we both know that a written exam would be useless for you two; You two will be taking just the physical exam."
"Thank you sir, when will this exam be held and where?" Victory asked.
"It will be held in two days, this Friday, at Noon, at Beacon Academy."
"Thank you for this opportunity, we won't squander it." Constitution thanked.
Ozpin nodded as he got up, "You will be further debriefed on Friday before the exam so make sure you arrive early." He said before the man left, leaving the two women alone.
As Ozpin walked away, Glynda caught up with him, "You really going to let them in our school?"
The man nodded, "They are lying. Not about everything, but right now I can't tell what they're lying about and what they're not."
"Why would you think that?"
"The villages that these women claim to be from are unheard of."
"They could have been severely isolationist, it's not unprecedented..."
"True, however from the information they have given us, these villages would have to be quite big yet we have never heard of them or seen any signs of them? They are lying about something and allowing them to be in Beacon will allow us to keep an eye on them."
"Right alongside children?"
Ozpin chuckled, "I don't trust them but, I do not think they are that much of a threat."
On the ride to Beacon, Constitution and Victory decided to do some final last minute inspections and maintenance on their weapons. As Constitution finished inspecting her flintlock she took a look at the scenery that the windows of the bullhead provided. It was beautiful and reminded her of Earth which made her a little bit homesick.
"Do you think Yorktown or Belfast made it?" Constitution asked. The phrase 'Or maybe even Purifier?' went unsaid but was still understood.
Victory sighed, alongside researching their new world they also looked for any sign of their companions or enemies, "I don't know, anything is possible," Victory said then looked around to make sure they were alone then whispered, "However, they also could have 'absorbed' the blast allowing us to be transported here."
Constitution shuddered at the thought, "I hope not."
"Me too," Victory sighed. They would just have to hope and keep searching for any signs for anyone else that may have come to this world. Any further thoughts were cut off as the bullhead landed.
Both warships put away the weapons before they got up to walk out. As they walked out, they were greeted by Glynda coming to meet them.
"You two are an hour early." She stated.
"We would have been just half an hour early but since we would be further debriefed here we thought we should arrive extra early to not be rushed." Victory said.
Glynda nodded and gestured for the ladies to follow her.
"You two will be dropped in a forest called Forever Fall and recover an artifact. You will have two hours to complete this task. You will be graded on teamwork and the efficiency that you two have with dealing with any threat. Bonus points will be rewarded based on how quickly you complete the exam as well."
Victory nodded, but internally she was worried. Two hours was quite a short amount of time for Constitution and her. They also did not have the most efficient weapons on their person for dealing with large amounts of Grimm. Victory suspected that was the point of the exam; like any exam it was meant to test and push them.
"Can we have a map of this Forever Fall?" Victory asked. The professor nodded and started to lead them to somewhere else. Eventually they were led to and in a building that turned out to be Beacon's library.
Victory approached the librarian, a young man and asked if he had a map of Forever Fall. The librarian nodded before she walked off for a little bit then returned with a rolled up piece of paper. Victory thanked the librarian before she unfurled the piece of paper and studied the map with Constitution looking over her shoulder.
The woman stayed like that for a while, memorizing every detail they could. Eventually, Glynda notified them that the exam would begin soon and turned back in their map. After a few minutes of walking they arrived at a cliff with several metal plates on the ground. Ozpin seemed to be already there sipping some form of hot liquid from a mug of his.
"I hope you were not waiting here long?" Victory asked.
"Not at all," Was Ozpin's reply, "Please take your places."
Victory and Constitution stepped on the metal plates Ozpin had gestured to.
"I heard that Glynda has already informed you two of your main objective; however, I would like to add some things. First of all, you are free to use any method to retrieve the artifact as you see fit as long as it does not result in the destruction of said artifact of course. Second of all, the danger in this exam is very real; make sure to deal with any threats you encounter as you may very well die. There are observers hidden that will only interfere if the situation should call for it; however, if they are required to step in the exam will be null and void. Any questions?"
"Yes. What is the artifact we are looking for?" Constitution asked.
Ozpin smiled, "Trust me, you will know it when you see it. Now one last thing, This exam will be recorded, I hope this is not a problem?"
Both girls shook their heads. Then before anything else could be said or done the plates that the warships were standing on sprung up, catapulting the war veterans in the air.
At first the ladies were taken by complete surprise as they flew through the air. However, before they even had begun to descend, the warships had recovered from their shock and righted themselves. as they descended to the tree line each warship came up with a different method on landing. Constitution decided to grab a branch and she fell because of her weight and velocity it snapped immediately. Constitution expected this to grab another branch before it snapped too. Constitution repeated this process until she finally grabbed a branch that did not snap and used it to swing down safely to the ground. Meanwhile, Victory decided to bring her feet in front of her decided path. The first-rate ship of the line slammed into branch after branch. Before she hit the ground she drew her saber and dug into the tree beside her. This allowed Victory to slow down enough that she only landed hard enough to kick up some dust not far from Constitution.
"Wasn't expecting that." Constitution commented as she looked up towards the sky.
"Yes," Victory chuckled before she paused, "Wait what would Ozpin have done if we had not been able to stop ourselves safely and got severely hurt?"
Constitution shrugged, "Probably fail us."
Victory shook her head as she pulled out her compass. She studied it and her surroundings for a bit looking for any landmarks to find their current location.
"Isn't there some ruins near us? Shouldn't we look there first?" Constitution suggested as she also inspected their surroundings.
"Yes, I agree, " Victory said, still inspecting her compass and surrounding landmarks, "I'm just trying to find out where we are and where to go."
"Uh Victory? I think you should put your compass away, we got company," Constitution said as she noticed the red eyes surrounding them.
Victory nodded as she slowly put away compass and brought out her Martini Henry. As the red eyes revealed themselves to be a pack growling beowolves.
It was time to beat to quarters.
