Jimmy's Heartbreak
The giant beast threw him against the rocky wall of the cave, his giant furry fists flailing madly. The murky waters opened as Jimmy plunged underneath, the frigid liquid bathing him with discomfort. He was reminded of Mr. Hayes who had been thrown to the steep wall of the canyon like a rag doll, but, rather than water, which was not exactly a better choice, he fell to the bottom of the canyon. He could still be alive. But barely. No one knew for sure what had happened at the bottom of the canyon. No one even knew what was at the bottom. Did the impact of the fall kill him? Or was he still alive, slowly waiting in agony? Jimmy opened his eyes and saw himself floating in the impure waters of Skull Island. He couldn't even see what was in front of him. The thought of all the frighteningly huge creatures that could possibly be in the water seemed to force him to the surface. He gasped for breath and began to swim to the edge. Although in reality the swim was only a few yards, it felt as if it were a few miles. Jimmy began to weaken as reality set in: Hayes was gone. Jimmy remembered one of the last things he had said. "It isn't always about being brave." Now it was though, Jimmy thought if he wanted to survive. "I'm not a coward! I ain't gonna run." His arms sore, Jimmy stopped. Only for a moment he thought. A moment was longer than he thought. Slowly, his limp body began to submerge beneath the thin sheet of consciousness.
Darkness ran through his mind as he heard Mr. Hayes calling him. Jimmy ran towards the beckoning, which quickly changed into warning. Go back, Jimmy, go back! Run! Run, Jimmy! The voice was moving faster than Jimmy could run, and something began pulling at him. Stopping him. Something else was pushing him. Encouraging him to keep running. A small light brought a picture into view. Small taps shattered the silence of Kong staring into his captive's eyes. Kong's sudden reaction shattered Jimmy's heart. And Mr. Hayes as well. Jimmy let out a mournful cry and shot up out of the water.
Coughing and shaking wildly, Jimmy felt the disgusting water seep into his lungs. His voice was muffled under the gurgling of the grimy substance consuming him slowly. As if by magic, he was pulled out almost immediately. He opened his eyes to see Jack clutching him, pulling him to the edge of the cave. He was breathing deeply. Jimmy, spasmodically. His thin arms around Jimmy's neck, Jack whispered into his ear, "You're alright. It will be okay." Jimmy's eyes misted over, and he could hold it in no longer. He pressed his head into Jack's shoulder and cried. Streams of tears cleaned the dirt of his face, as his heart spilled out its contents. He never had anyone's shoulder to cry on but Mr. Hayes. No one to talk to but Mr. Hayes. No one there to teach him but Hayes. No one but Hayes. Now he was gone.
