Chapter 4: Nice to Meet You Part II

Earlier

With Katie

The blonde girl had been strolling along the park, she was still bummed out that her family had left Acmeville and moved to this "haunted town", Amity Park. She wanted some time alone now.

"So not fair!..."She thought, unaware of the direction she was facing and what was going on around her since her mind was too preoccupied with her thoughts to see where she was going.

She was too busy thinking and didn't see anyone around her until she got pulled out of her thoughts, as she had nearly bumped into someone when she made a right turn at the very next corner and didn't even notice until this happened.

"Watch it!..."Was heard.

"Huh?..." Katie went as someone got her attention.

It was some guy, who approached her.

"Why don't you-..."The guy paused when he saw her and Katie did the same.

Soon they were face to face and Katie was flustered as she felt something go through her when she finally got a good look at him and only this came to her mind.

"Whoa!..."She thought as she looked at this guy.

He is cute...Like really cute.

This boy seemed to be around her age and height, with messy black hair, fair skin, a slim built and his best feature were his big, blue eyes that were even bluer than hers and they were the kind that she could just stare at forever.

His eyes stared in the way that made Katie's knees feel a little weak. At that moment, the two of them continued staring at each other, not saying anything and Katie now had a light blush on her face, one that won't go away.

"Oh...hi..."She said in an innocent sounding voice as she smiled at him.

The guy only smiled and it made Katie's heart skip a beat.

"Uh, hey..." The guy said, looking a little nervous as Katie smiled at him.

"He's cute...and he's even cute when he's acting shy..."She thought, not noticing the uneven cement on the sidewalk until she accidentally tripping over it and fell on the ground.

"Smooth Katie, real smooth!..."She thought sarcastically, embarrassed and feeling irritated that she made such a comical mistake.

She got angry and just when Katie's temper was starting to rise, it subsided once she look up and see the guy knelt down to her and offered her some assistance.

"Are you okay?..."He asked as he held out his hand and Katie ended up looking into his eyes again.

She briefly forgot about her sore butt and negative emotions when she looked into them and she didn't know why but something clicked inside of her, like a switch and she could already tell that her face starting to turn red.

She blinked a bit and began to feel her knees getting weak again, so she accepted the boy's offer of assistance and took his hand. She was surprised by how firm and strong his hand was.

She was a little lost for words, so she answered as best as she could.

"I don't know. Do I look okay?..."Katie asked as the boy helped her up.

"I think you look great..."He said nicely, making Katie blush more at what he said.

"He thinks I look great, wow. That's so sweet of him to say..."She thought, feeling bashful and blushing after he complimented her.

She responded as best as she could.

"I think you look great too..."Katie said sweetly as she felt herself blush again as he kept staring at her.

The boy blushed at that, looking both bashful and confused, but he wasn't complaining about it.

"Thanks..."The boy said, still blushing and Katie and him continued to stare again at each other.

"Golly, he's really cute. Even more than Jared..."The blonde girl thought, smiling as the boy began to introduce himself.

"My name is Danny, Danny Fenton..."He said and the blonde girl smiled at that.

"Hmm, Danny Fenton, that's a really nice name..."She thought, liking that name.

She smiled and felt calm as she began to like him and realized something. She remembered she's new and decided to introduce herself too.

"Hi, Danny...My name is Katie...Katie Kaboom..."She introduced herself to the cute boy in front of her.

Both these teenagers were blushing profusely as they were exchanging glances with one another.

Present Time

Katie was still blushing a bit in his presence as the cute boy, Danny was still trying not to act like a dork in front of this girl that he just met.

"She's pretty...very pretty. Come Fenton, stay cool. You only get one first impression when meeting someone new, a girl..."He thought as she introduced herself.

"Hi, Danny...My name is Katie...Katie Kaboom..."She introduced herself to him.

"Katie, now that's a cute name. But wait, did I hear that right? Did she say her last name is Kaboom?..."He thought quizzing only to ask.

"Kaboom?..."He questioned as Katie nodded, a bit embarrassed.

"Please don't ask where it came from, even my dad doesn't know..."She told him.

"Uhh, okay..."He said, thinking it'd be best not to push the subject any further.

He got a good look at Katie again and besides the fact that she was really pretty...pretty enough to be on par with some A-list girls, something else about her caught his attention. He realized something, he's never seen this girl before.

While he doesn't know all 279 girls personally, he knows she's not one of them.

"By the way, are you new around here? Cause I don't think I've ever seen you around the school before?..."Danny asked, as he got a little curious.

"You betcha, I just moved in with my parents and little brother, all the way from Acmeville..."Katie said, sounding a bit down at remembering home.

"Acmeville?..."Danny asked.

"Yeah, it's a few hours up west, near Burbank. Ever heard of it?..."She asked.

"Well it sounds familiar. At least Burbank does..."Danny said, remembering something from the news.

Something about weird stuff happening. His parents say there's no supernatural activity that their sensors catch, but they never did find an answer.

It was something that puzzled them for the longest time, but stop pursuing, in favor of focusing their efforts on their ghost research and because it was more their field than any other paranormal activity.

Anyway, he pushed that out of his mind and he quickly checked his watch for the current time.

His fight with the Box Ghost only lasted 15 minutes. This meant that he needed more time to kill.

Katie, not wanting to go back now, found a means to stay wanted to spend a lot more time with this cute and nice guy she just met and got an idea.

"I think I just found a cute tour guide to show me around this "haunted" town..."She thought before speaking up.

"Say, Danny?..."Katie asked, playfully twirling some locks of her hair to try and look cute.

"Yeah?..."Danny asked, clueless to her tone and intent.

"Since I'm new... do you mind... showing me around town?..."She asked, hoping that he'd say yes and that he's single.

Danny blinked in surprise, taken aback by her invitation

"Wow, she wants me to show her around and spend time with me..."He thought in eagerness.

He smiled.

He finally found something to do, and it's with a pretty girl too.

The ghost boy grinned before he answered.

"Sure..."He said.

"Wonderful, let's go..."Katie said, clasping both hands together.

The two teens walked through the park together and the blonde girl was ecstatic that she finally found a silver lining to this move. Someone named Danny.

"I think I'm starting to like Amity Park..."She thought, no longer feeling bummed about moving here.

A few moments later

Danny and Katie had just left the park and the blonde girl was feeling bliss as the ghost boy was by her side, the first friendly face she's seen so far.

The two were close enough as they walked together side by side, enjoying each other's company.

"So, Katie...uh, how are you liking Amity Park?..."Danny asked, having spent a few minutes with her as they were walking.

Katie gave it some thought and answered.

"It's nice, I guess. Not as haunted as advertised..."She said while on the inside, she thought this: "It's okay but I think I like someone from Amity Park more...".

Danny raised an eyebrow at that.

"She thinks it's not haunted?..."He thought, confused.

Before he could say or explain anything to her, his phone started to ring.

He saw that it was his sister, Jazz. He figured she was looking for him, probably wondering if he either went home or is fighting a ghost.

"Who's that?..."Katie asked curiously.

"It's my sister, I'll be right back..."He said as he went to answer his phone.

As he went, Katie pouted.

"Darn... and I was really enjoying my time with him..."She thought as she looked at him.

She still smiled.

"He is cute and has been really nice so far..."She thought as he finished his talk.

"Jazz, now Is not a great time for this. I'm a bit preoccupied right now, but don't worry I'm fine. I'll be home later. Don't worry..."He said before hanging up.

"Everything okay?..."Katie asked, Danny only nodded.

"Yeah, it nothing too serious. My sister just wanted to know where I am..."Danny said. "She's little bit overprotective at times and likes to check up on me from time to time to know if ok or not..."Danny said.

"Sounds a lot like my parents..."She thought. "She sounds nice..."Katie said.

"That's because you haven't met her..."Danny joked, causing her to giggled.

"I guess so..."Katie said, still giggling.

Danny smiled.

So far, he's enjoying his time with Katie. She seems nice and enjoyed his company so far. He even liked the way that her giggling made her look adorable.

"I could so get used to this for a few hours..."He thought.

However, his good mood was gone as his ghost sense went off.

"And...cue the next ghost that I have to deal with today..."He thought as he heard something above.

A piercing screech.

He looked up and saw a giant, ghostly bat with purple fur, green eyes and large fangs.

It was also screeching and swooping down to attack any people it flew by and breaking windows with it's screeching.

"Wonderful, just when I found something to take my time with..."He thought as he heard a gasp.

He turned around and saw someone wasn't a skeptic anymore.

Katie laughed off the idea of ghosts, now she's seen one and her jaw dropped.

"A GHOST?!..."She asked.

"Welcome to Amity Park..." Danny said lightly.

The ghost bat then swooped down towards them and Danny immediately pushed Katie down where they came and pointed in that direction.

"Katie, when this happens, the best thing to do is run and hide! Quick! Go now before we find out if it's hungry!..."Danny said, hoping that would get her to safety.

The blonde girl was still at a loss for seeing a ghost. She had never seen before in her entire life until now.

"R-Right..." She went, still not able to process properly.

"I better go... call the police..."He lied, he really needed to morph but she didn't know that.

"The cops? Are they ghost-busters or something here?..."She asked.

"There should be at this point. Otherwise, they might at least get people out of here..."He said quickly before he went away to find a place to change.

As Danny ran, Katie did not.

She just stood there, feeling upset with this ghost for making her new friend go and leaving her all alone.

Katie saw that he left to go get help and right when she was starting to have a little fun with someone cute and nice too!

"I can't believe this... a ghost of all thing ruined my day..."Katie growled actually growled as she got angry

Very, very angry.

Back with Danny

Danny found a place to change and now faced with the giant ghostly bat.

It flew at him, intent to slash with its wings. He caught the wings with his hands.

"You're driving me batty, here!..."He said, eyes glowing angrily into its own large red eyes.

He then threw the ghost bat to the ground. He creature got on all fours and shook its head before Danny dropped and stomped its head into the ground.

Before it could attack again, Danny fired the thermos, capturing the ghost.

He sighed in relief.

"Now... for Katie..."He thought.

Before he went to go find her, he heard something. An inhuman screech of anger before a tree fell to the ground.

"STUPID GHOSTS!..."Was heard.

"Whoa..."Danny went, seeing it for the first time.

A large, green monster with a muscular frame, dirty and unkempt black hair. It had glowing eyes and a large mouth full of fangs. It's clothes were tattered, clearly too small for it.

Still, Danny couldn't allow this thing to attack.

"Okay... let's do this like we rehearsed..." He said.

He flew at the creature, intent to take it down.

''RAHHHHH!..." The monstrous thing roared loudly, terrifying everyone around it.

"AHHH!..."The terrified citizens screamed as they tried to run away.

Danny, on the other hand, was doing the opposite. He chose to opposte this thing.

"Hey, big and ugly! You're interfering with me meeting someone!..." He said as he swung his leg to kick into his head.

The impact caused the creature to step back, but only slightly.

It snarled before it grabbed Danny by the leg. He didn't have time to register before it swung him away.

He was sent into the tree, breaking it in half, as he skidded on the grass. Once he stopped, he got up and was nonplussed.

"Okay... stronger than I thought..."He admitted.

The monster stomped in his direction, still looking angry as it did before.

"LEAVE ME ALONE!..." The beast went.

In response, Danny knees the creature in the chest, making it step back, but not enough to knock it down.

It tried grabbing him, with claws bared.

Danny dodges the beast's claws and hovered back.

He was barely able to avoid the swiping before trying to diffuse the situation. He hoped this thing wasn't as dangerous as it seemed.

"Let's try this again. Hi, I'm Danny Phantom. And you are?..."He asked as he held a hand out.

The beast roared again and hit Danny with force, making him crash into the ground.

"Grumpy, got it..."He muttered.

He then saw it coming towards him.

"STUPID GHOSTS!..." It went, shaking its arms in the air.

Things were looking a little dicey, so Danny decided to step things up and emit a powerful flash of light that made the thing cover its eyes in reaction.

"GAAAHHHH!..."The monster let out.

Thinking fast, Danny fired a blast of cold, freezing it in place.

Seeing it cannot escape, Danny saw his opportunity. He pulled out the thermos and fired but it didn't work, nothing suggested the creature was affected by it, much less being pulled in.

"WHAT?!..."He exclaimed as he stopped firing while the creature broke out of the ice.

"GET AWAY!..." The monster roared.

It tried to attack Danny, but he thought fast by grabbing it by the arm and swung it a few feet away. Angered by this, the creature resumed what looked like a temper tantrum.

All the while, Danny stared at the Fenton Thermos, which normally worked. It didn't, which meant something.

"The thermos doesn't work?! So... it's NOT a ghost?..." He asked as it knocked down more trees.

The ghost boy shook his head and chose to ignore that.

With nothing else to do, Danny flew in and swung a fist, hitting the creature in the face.

Though he made an impact, the creature seemed more annoyed than hurt. In response, the creature made a fist and pulled back.

Danny did the same as well.

Their fists collided and the impact sent Danny back by several feet, but the monster only seemed slightly off balance.

The monster roared loudly before charging at Danny, trying to get him with a mean right hook.

"I take it you don't have much experience here in fighting!..."Danny yelled as he flew back, dodging the punch.

He sent several ghost rays at the beast, who just yelled and swung it's arms around blindly. Clearly, it's not used to fighting ghosts and with each missed swing, it's temper kept getting wilder

"STUPID GHOSTS! YOU RUINED EVERYTHING! YOU CAN'T ESCAPE!..."The creature yelled into his face.

Danny heard this and got an idea.

"Yeah, we ruin everything...oh, good idea. I just realized if you're not a ghost, you're not used to this..."He said sarcastically before phasing out of the monster's grip.

The monster looked confused before Danny reappeared again, making it do a double take.

Now, let's continue..."He said as he was about to punch the beast but it grabbed him and squeezed him in it's fist, tightening its grip.

"GO AWAY!..."The beast yelled before throwing up high through the air, wanting to be rid of him.

"GAH!..."Danny screamed before he used his power to stop.

He frowned.

"Okay...No more Mr. Nice guy..."He said in annoyance.

He flew back to the battle area but to his surprise, he saw no sign of the beast anywhere, it disappeared..

"Huh?..."He asked out loud as he looked around.

He looked around, he saw nothing.

No footprints in the ground. No further wreckage. Not even the sounds of people panicking.

"What the heck?...How did I lose a ten foot rage green machine?..."He asked out loud, scratching the back of his head.

He flew around and saw no sign of the creature. It was like magic, it's gone.

"No way..."He muttered as he was at a lost.

He pondered.

"Where did it go? It didn't go where I saw Katie, did - KATIE!..." He thought as he flew in her direction. Afraid it encountered her, he sped up.

He was dreading if this creature, whatever it was, might have harmed her.

He flew after the direction where he last saw Katie, flying as fast as he hoped she was not in harm's way.

"Okay, good news is that I met a pretty girl that seems okay with being around me. Bad news is that there's some kind of psycho monster on the loose..."He muttered, not liking this..

He decided he'd better find Katie make sure that she was all right. She's new to town and hoped the ghosts didn't terrify her.

"Here's hoping she didn't see... whatever that was..."Danny thought as he went to find her.

Unknown to him, the blonde girl had been looking for him too.

A few moments later

After changing back, Danny managed to find Katie, who was standing calmly, completely safe and sound, almost like she didn't notice what happened.

She smiled at the sight of him, relieved to see him.

"Danny, you're back..."Katie said as she went to him. "Oh my gosh. I was so worry that weird ghost got to you..."She said in concern.

"It didn't..."He said, relieved to see that she was okay, not looking remotely harmed..

"Are you alright, how are you feeling? Did that thing do anything?..."Danny asked in concern.

"I'm fine...I just can't believe that ghosts are actually real and did all this..."She said as she looked all the damage.

Danny thought that she was talking about the green monster that he just saw but Katie had been talking about the ghost bat from earlier but neither knew this.

"I don't think that thing was a ghost..."Danny thought but couldn't tell her that.

"Sorry about all of this..."He said apologetically.

"Don't be, it's not your fault. Plus, I'm guessing you're used to this..."Katie said, gesturing to all the destruction.

"You could say that..."He said, as she wasn't wrong.

Katie, however, however, didn't look upset. If anything, she's happy to see him.

Very happy... a bit more than she probably should be, but he didn't notice it.

"I wanna thank you for pushing me to safety from that bat thing..."Katie said, a twinkle in her eyes.

Danny didn't see it, all he saw was her gratitude and smiled at that.

"No need, I didn't do much, I think our local superhero did the hard part..."He said, acting as though he didn't consider his contributions as Danny Fenton.

Katie, however, sent him an adoring look.

"He's so shy..."She thought in fondness.

"Well, I think all good deeds deserve their rewards..."Katie said before giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Danny blushed at her actions.

"Whoa..."He thought, not used to this.

"Um...no problem..."He stuttered and Katie giggled.

His reaction made him cuter in her mind.

"So, about that tour?..."She asked.

"You still want to see around, after that thing?..."He asked.

"Sure, it's gone now and I still have time before curfew..."She said.

Danny smiled.

"Sure..."He said.

Katie smiled and nodded in response.

"Lead the way..." She said, gesturing to the path down the park.

"Okay..." Danny said.

However, once they started walking, Katie winced.

"Oww..." She said, swinging her hand to soothe the pain.

"You okay?..." He asked in concern.

"Yeah... must be a cramp because for some reason it feels like I punched a wall..." She said, lightly rubbing her other hand on her knuckles..

Later

After showing her where the school, mall and Nasty Burger were, Katie was satisfied and Danny was taking her home, talking all the way.

"So, why Nasty?..." Katie asked.

"Vandalism they never bothered to correct. It's actually really delicious..." Danny said.

"Well, if someone like you is there all the time... I bet it must be amazing..." She said with a smile.

Danny laughed at that.

"Heh... I'm sure you'd find it amazing and I bet lots of guys would give them more business if you ate there every day..." Danny went, earning a giggle from her.

"Really? Am I that pretty? I should be the mascot then..." She joked.

He laughed at that, finding it funny.

They've been getting along the entire time, something Danny was comfortable with while Katie smiled and was relieved.

Most people at her old school didn't get along with her that well, so this was good for her, though she didn't understand why they acted they way they did.

Some people made fun of her behind her back or, unknown to her, were told by their parents to avoid her and don't say or do anything to upset her, not that she knew that. Sure, she had some friends and dated a bit but she wasn't the most popular kid at school.

Danny, on the other hand, was so nice to her. He has been so sweet and friendly, it made her heart beat fast. She knew that she like him.

"Please, oh please let him not have a girlfriend..."She thought hopefully, given she just grew to like this boy already.

She decided to make her move.

"Say, Danny?..."Katie began coyly, hoping to have his eyes on her again.

"Yeah?..."He asked and the blonde girl was blushing.

"Come on Katie, don't lose your nerve. Just do it..."Katie thought before speaking again.

"I know I'm new and all but... you've been so nice to me that I was wondering... would you- I mean, do you have a girlfriend?..."She asked quickly, hoping for the best.

"Um, no... Danny responded, still a little clueless about her intent.

"YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!..."Katie thought happily, before she began to calm down, not wanting to scare him off.

She then cleared her throat, standing with her hands clasped together, as she felt her heart kept racing from the anticipation.

She had to get it off her chest right away.

"Then... do you wanna... go out tomorrow? On a date... with me... that is..."She says rather sheepishly, with her head tilted a bit.

Danny couldn't believe what he was hearing right now, but just to make sure that he wasn't hearing things, he wanted to make sure he heard her right.

"A date?..."He asked and Katie nodded, to his surprised.

Danny eyes widened, someone asked him out and he couldn't help but feel flattered. His mind having trouble processing it.

"She... wants to go out... with ME?!..."He thought, both dumbfounded and excited.

He mentally scolded himself for that and focused.

"Okay, play it cool and don't mess this up, Fenton!..."He thought, trying to respond to her.

"Sure..." He said calmly.

Katie smiled widely at this, he said yes!

She has a date!

"He said yes! He said yes! Awesome!..."She thought in excitement, wanting to dance and run in a circle but she'd save that for when she was home.

Right now, she needs to play it cool and be calm in front of him.

"Awesome..."She said calmly, but was cheering on the inside. "So, Saturday? Maybe lunch and a movie?..."She suggested, wanting to spend as much time as she could with him.

Danny nodded.

"That all works for me. It sounds like a date..."He said with a smile.

Katie nodded as they resumed their walk, plenty excited for their date tomorrow and that she'll be with Danny.

"Yeah, a date..."She said as they continued to walk together all the way to Katie's new house.

Both unaware what's to come...
