Goin' KABOOM!

Chapter 5: The First Date

Katie walked into her home, feeling like she just woke up from a wonderful dream.

"Is that you Katie?..."Her mother asked upon her arrival.

"Yes, Mother..."Katie said, still giddy.

Katie certainly had a kick in her step right now and a smile on her face... and she has Danny to thank.

She still couldn't believe that after moving to this town, she met a cute boy on her very first day here and she has a date with him tomorrow.

"Oh, my first date in this town... this is great. Tomorrow's going to be so much fun..."She thought, feeling so happy.

Her parents noticed her good mood, and got curious since earlier, she was still so upset that they all moved away from Acmeville to Amity Park and now she looks like she did a complete one-eighty.

Not that they were complaining but they were still a little curious as to why she isn't reducing the new house to rubble.

"Have a good walk, Princess?..."Her father asked.

"Oh, it was just wonderful..."Katie said in a blissful tone before going to her room.

She intended to make plans for tomorrow.

With Danny

The ghostly boy arrived home, in higher spirits than before he went to the park after his friends left town.

While he was feeling better, there were some concerns as well.

He felt on edge over the thing from today. He was worried about that monster that came out of nowhere and then vanished...but that can wait since he's got a date with a really cute, new girl tomorrow.

"I've got a date with Katie, I gotta make a good first impression tomorrow..."He thought, feeling pretty giddy with himself.

As the ghost boy wondered through the living room, his sister was sitting on a nearby chair with a book in her hands. Jazz took notice of her younger brother's sudden change of mood and smiled.

"You're in a good mood. Did something happen?..."Jazz questioned.

"Yep..."Danny said. "I just met someone today who just moved here..."He said.

The red-head raised an eyebrow and put her book away, since this caught her attention just a bit more.

"What's her name?..."Jazz asked, since her brother rarely gets noticed by other girls... except Sam, Valerie and a few others that even Danny didn't know about, but Jazz wasn't keen to tell him.

Her brother was just too oblivious to know any better, or that's how Jazz viewed it. Anyway, he answered her.

"Her name is Katie and she's awesome. I met her in the park and we have a date tomorrow..."Danny explained.

"There's also a non-ghost causing panic, but that can wait for now..."He thought.

Jazz heard this and smiled, happy that he is no longer bummed about his friends being out of town.

"Good for you Danny. It's about time you finally caught break for once..."She thought before she decided to play overprotective now.

"Well, don't stay out too late, Little Brother..."She said in a teasing way.

Danny rolled his eyes.

"Hilarious, Jazz. I can't wait to introduce you both..."He said sarcastically before shaking his head as he made his way to his room.

He pushed her teasing aside and was looking forward for his date tomorrow.

The Next Day

It's Saturday in Amity Park and love was in the air, a lot people were going out.

Almost everyone had plans, especially for the town's local half ghost superhero and the new girl in town, who were going out today.

Both Danny and Katie were getting ready for their date. He was going to pick her up at noon and then they will go out to eat and maybe see a movie.

The ghost boy was getting ready.

He put on some of his nicer clothes, ran a comb through his hair and spraying some deodorant on.

Danny smiled at himself in the mirror.

"Here goes nothing..."He thought as he did a few more double checking before he had to pick up his date.

As the young Fenton boy was making sure that he was ready to go out for his date, his mind went back to that giant monster he faced yesterday and how strong it was.

Namely the fact that it was physically stronger than most ghosts he fought. Not to mention, that it was the first non-ghost threat he encountered. He is still not sure exactly what that thing was.

"It didn't fight like it ever encountered a ghost before. It acted like it didn't know ghosts could turn invisible..."He thought before shaking his head.

He looked at the time and had to get going now and he'll have to transform and fly to avoid being late.

"I know that I should be out looking for that monster, and I will...right after my date with Katie..."He told himself as he also thought that he was as ready as he will be and was heading down stairs.

The ghost boy soon left to go pick Katie up at her house and make a good impression on her family if he needs to.

However, once he was a few blocks away, he saw his ghost sense go off and he immediately sighed.

"You've got to be kidding me..."He muttered under his breath.

Meanwhile

At The Kaboom Residence

Katie was also getting ready for her date.

She decided to wear something different from her usual clothes and used a new dress she bought just before they moved here.

"I hope Danny likes it..."She thought as she brushed her hair until it was neat.

"Katie, Katie darling?..."Her mother called her.

"Coming, Mom..."Katie asked as she walked into the living room.

Her dad was reading the paper, her mom was cleaning and Tinker was playing with one of his air planes.

"Hello, wonderful family..."She said sweetly upon arrival.

"Hi, Princess..."Her dad said, looking away from his newspaper.

"Don't you look lovely, Katie..."Her mom said, complimenting her daughter.

"Thank you, Mother..."Katie said as she did a little twirl to admire her new outfit.

She just hoped Danny would love it too.

"What time will your new boyfriend be picking you up for your date?..."The mother asked.

Katie blushed in embarrassment at what her mom called him.

"He's not my boyfriend, Mom...we only met yesterday and to answer your question: 12 o'clock and it's not a date! We're just seeing a movie and getting a bite to eat..."Katie said, downplaying things since she didn't want to jinx it and because she hasn't sealed the deal with Danny...yet.

"My mistake..."Her mother said in her usual way.

"Just remember to be home by curfew, Katie..."Her father said.

"Of course, Daddy. 10 sharp..."Katie said.

Her parents were still surprised that she managed to find a date so soon but maybe they shouldn't be too surprised. Their daughter always was good at socializing with others when she could, though it was what happened after she lost her temper that caused parents to want their kids away from her.

The Kaboom parents were now concern.

"I hope things go well for her today...for both their sakes..."The mother thought, worried.

"God help that boy if he makes Katie upset..."The father thought, also worried.

"Oh brother..."Tinker muttered under his breath but they didn't hear him.

Katie sighed as she waited patiently for her date Danny to pick her up. She looked at the living room clock and saw that it was almost time. She saw it strike 12.

She was hoping for the best but she was starting to have doubts as the seconds that passed felt like hours to her.

"It's already noon...so, where is he?!..."Katie thought nervously, fearing that he wasn't going to show up.

She gasped in horror when she saw that one minute had passed and...okay...usually, a normal teenager would be upset if their date is late...but Katie is not normal.

She, a very special girl with a certain problem, she tends to overreact.

"HE'S LATE! HOW COULD HE BE LATE?! I'VE BEEN STOOD UP!..."Katie yelled as her voice deepened, her eyes glowed and she started seeing red.

Her family saw this and panicked.

"INCOMING!..."Mr. Kaboom shouted as he grabbed a nearby army helmet that he had for moments like this.

He hid behind his chair while Mrs. Kaboom and Tinker prepared to take cover.

However, before Katie could begin another one of her infamous tantrums (and transformations), there was a knock at the door and she heard the doorbell ring, which caught her attention.

"He's here!..."Katie said as she began to calm down.

Her anger was forgotten and she was now back to normal. Her parents and younger brother saw this and sighed, thankful to have dodged that bullet.

"That was close..."They all thought in relief.

Katie nearly lost her temper but it was stopped before it began and, for once, nothing got destroyed.

Katie calmed down and quickly did a double check to make sure she was all set while her parents were really glad that they didn't have to make another home insurance claim.

With Danny

The ghost boy had arrived to the Kaboom residence, carrying flowers that he picked up for Katie, since he didn't want to make a bad impression. He is also wearing a nicer set of clothes.

Unfortunately, he had to deal with some last minute trouble like Klemper on his way here and he knew that he was already a minute late.

"Oh man...I hope that Katie isn't upset..."He said as he knocked on the door and rang the bell.

He waited a moment and heard footsteps before the door opened.

It was Katie.

Danny checked her out and smiled.

She is now wearing a light blue mini-dress with a pink ribbon, blue shoes and golden earrings, making her look adorable.

"Hi Katie, you look amazing..."He said honestly.

"Thank you..."Katie said, blushing.

"Sorry, I'm late, I ran into some... trouble...and had to take a detour..."Danny lied, since he can't tell her that a ghost kept him busy.

Katie just shrug her shoulders and paid no mind.

"Oh, you were late? I hardly noticed..."She said, playing it cool in front of her date.

Danny smiled.

"Cool..."He said before remembering the flowers in his hands.

"These are for you..."He said as he handed them to her.

Katie's face lit up with excitement at the bouquet presented to her.

"Flowers? For me? Oh, Danny, you shouldn't have..."Katie said with a smile as she admired them.

After putting the flowers away, the two teenagers soon left for their date together.

A few moments later

Katie held Danny by the arm as the two walked, side by side.

"So, Danny? Exactly where are we going?..."Katie asked curiously.

"Well, I thought it'd be a good idea to go to a cafe I didn't show you yet and start there..."He said, hoping she'd like the idea.

Katie smiled and nodded.

"Sounds awesome..."She said as they continued walking together.

Later

Danny and Katie soon arrived to the cafe to have lunch together. Katie would have loved to go to a fancy restaurant called Chez Etoile that was suppose to be great but Danny said that place was out of his price range and it takes forever to get a table, so he picked this place.

Still, this place is nice and was perfect for a first date.

Danny, being a gentleman, held the door for her, which only made Katie giggle and blush.

Now, they are seated and a waiter came to take their orders.

"Welcome you two. Can I get you anything to start with?..."The waiter asked.

"I'll have the pasta..."Danny and Katie both said at the same time.

They both realized that they had ordered the exact same thing and Katie giggled.

"Two pastas...and try not to mix up our orders..."Danny joked.

Katie giggled again at that.

The waiter resisted the urge to roll his eyes and just wrote it down.

"Of course..."He said before leaving the two teens alone.

"I hate to jinx it but this is off to a pretty good start..."Danny thought as he stared at the pretty blonde in front of him.

Katie noticed his staring and decided to make a joke.

"See something you like?..."She teased and giggled when Danny flinched a bit at getting caught.

"Uh... maybe..."Danny said shyly, stuttering a bit and Katie giggled again.

"Maybe I see something I like too..."She said, resting her head on her hands as both elbows were on the table.

Danny turn red at that and decided to make a joke himself to calm himself down.

"Is it cake? Cause I might want dessert..."Danny said, smiling back at her.

That earned another smile. The blonde girl sat back as she thought about some conversation starters.

"So, Danny, tell me more about yourself?..."Katie asked, wanting to get to know him better.

"Well, I've lived in Amity Park my whole life. I live with my parents and older sister. My favorite band is Dumpty Humpty, I love video games and astronomy..."He explained.

"What about you?..."He asked.

"Well, I was born in Pleasantville...that is what Acmeville was called before they changed the name during a certain... event, not too sure on it myself. Like I told you yesterday, my folks decided to leave and I am still getting used to this place but I was against it first..but so far, it's pretty nice and this town isn't nearly as scary as the rumors lead me to believe, a giant bat not included..."She said, recalling yesterday.

Danny raised a brow at that.

"Just the giant bat?..."He thought before shaking it off before shrugging.

"I see..."Danny said. "So, what's your home town like?..."He asked.

"Zany to the max..."She said in a happy tone, as if that is normal to say that out loud.

Danny looked confused at that, especially her tone when she said something so odd like that.

"Zany... to the max?..."He thought before shaking it off and continuing his conversation with her.

He figured that maybe it's some weird saying back where she grew up or something.

"So, any friends back home?..."Danny asked.

"Yeah, I keep in touch. I let them know what I'm doing now..."Katie said with that pretty smile of hers.

Soon the waiter came with their appetizers and the couple's date officially began.

Elsewhere

Sam had to resist the urge to yawn loudly.

She was stuck far away from home at some overpriced, fancy restaurant with her family and she hated it.

She was bored out of her mind as they continued their dull conversation, her grandfather was making rather poorly aged jokes, while her paternal grandmother questioned when she's going to get out of this "phase" she's in. Not to mention, her folks were agreeing with her.

"Sammy, stop slouching. You'll develop a hunch..."Her mother said in an uptight fashion.

"You know our bedsheets are considered treasures in other countries. It's why we sleep with them, even in Summer..."Her grandmother said with a strong hint of pride in their expensive possessions.

"And we've bought several air conditioning units, I might add. We even got ice in the room to help keep up from sweating..."Her grandfather said, adding on to their pointless discussion of overpriced bedsheets.

The goth girl rolled her eyes, not caring at all about this bedsheet talk at all.

The goth girl frowned.

Leaving town to visit her grandparents wasn't something she planned on doing this weekend and she wished the weekend ended since this was driving her nuts!

Right now, her grandmother Ida is arguing over leaving Sam alone, while her father's parents were discussing about a cruise... for Sam to meet eligible bachelors.

"I wonder if Danny and Tuck are having more fun..."She thought, wanting out of here.

Meanwhile

At The Game Convention

Tucker was in techno geek heaven!

He's been acing the tournament non-stop.

There were so many video games, game systems, memorabilia, panels talking about new releases and GIRLS who loved video games and pizza too.

If anything were to happen, he'd call this the happiest day of his life.

"Man, Danny and Sam are really missing out..."Tucker thought as he stuffed a slice into his mouth and checked out the latest indie titles.

Later

In Amity Park

It was late now and the rest of Danny and Katie's date went off without a hitch.

They ate lunch and Danny took her to the movie theater. They also saw a movie together...a chick flick that Danny found boring but he let Katie pick and she really loved it. They also walked through the park, stopped for ice cream and are now walking home together.

Katie is still holding onto his arm pretty tightly and didn't seem to have any intention to let go.

"You sure know how to treat a lady, Danny. This date has been really fun..."Katie said, loving how the date was going.

"I do my best... besides, I'm having fun too, Katie..."Danny said, cracking a small smile.

Katie smiled back.

This date has been wonderful and while Danny was relieved that he didn't mess up, Katie felt so happy as she was enjoying his company a lot more than she thought she would.

"He's really great and cute too. Plus, he's been so sweet and shy. I think he likes me..."She mused, feeling her heart all a flutter as she thought about how the date went.

It was awesome and she already knew that she likes him.

Meanwhile, Danny was a little put off by how close she was now and how tight her hands were on his arm.

Or how she didn't let go of his arm for nearly the entire walk.

"I wonder why she's standing so close to me. ls she cold or something? Or is she worried that we might run into another ghost?..."He thought, less blissful then Katie but still having a good time.

Though, it wasn't something he felt he needed to complain about. There was something else about Katie holding on to his arm caught his attention... mainly her grip.

"I wonder if most guys deal with a grip this tight..."He thought curiously but still feeling some of the attraction... even if the blonde girl was still really close to him and still clinging to his arm.

Anyway, they remained silent as he continued to walk her home, getting her back before curfew.

At the Kaboom residence

Danny and Katie soon arrived to her house, about a few minutes before her curfew.

"Here we are, home sweet home..."Danny said as he let her go.

Katie smiled, happy with her day.

"Thanks for walking me all the way home, Danny. That was real sweet of you..."Katie said in a flirty way, making Danny turned red.

"Don't mention it, just happy to help..."Danny said and Katie felt her heart beat fast.

"He is just so cute and he's really sweet. He's so... perfect..."She thought in a smitten way.

Ever since she moved here, she hadn't found anything she really liked and she just wanted to go back home. She never wanted to come to this town in the first place. However, now she found a really good reason to stay.

She found a really cute, sweet, funny and endearing guy in Danny.

"I hope you had a good time..."Danny said.

"I did..."Katie said with a giggle.

She blushed and had the urge to thank him somehow for being such a sweetheart and showing her such a good time.

And she knew just what to do.

"Normally, I don't do this on the first date but I really like him and he's been a gentleman, he's earned it for sure..."Katie thought as she decided to make her move.

"So..."She said, taking a step forward into Danny's personal space, much to his surprise.

"Something wrong, Katie?..."Danny asked.

"Nope, nothing's been wrong..."She said. "Actually Danny...tonight has been a blast. I can't remember having a nicer time out with a boy..."She said sweetly.

Danny blushed at that.

"You're just saying that..."Danny said, rubbing the back of his head.

"No, I mean it. I had a great time and... I think you deserved a reward..."She said sweetly.

"You don't have to..."Danny said in a clueless way while Katie giggled.

"But I want to, you've been such a gentlemen throughout this date, so I think you've earned it..."She said before leaned forward to kiss him on the cheek and say goodnight.

Danny smiled as his face turned red as he realized she was going to peck him on his cheek, just like yesterday.

"Best weekend ever!..."He thought as Katie got closer to kiss his cheek and waited for it.

However, before anything could happen...the door suddenly opened and someone made a mistake. It seems that her little brother, Tinker, had opened the door to go outside and bumped into something. He had wanted to go outside for a bit, only to see his sister tripping and he knew that she is going to be ticked over this.

"Oh man, she's going to blow now!..."He thought in a panic.

Not wanting to get caught in the blast zone, he immediately shuts the door close and ran inside for cover...however, what Tinker didn't see is that he accidentally pushed his sister forward and her lips landed...elsewhere.

Her lips landed on Danny's lips!

"Mmmm!?..."Danny and Katie both went in surprise at their accidental kiss and were blushing now.

"Whoa!..."Danny thought as he immediately pulled away, blushing brightly from the accidental lip lock.

He saw the door close and heard what sounded like little feet running off. He knew that it was a mistake.

"Not entirely complaining but I'm pretty sure that what just happened was an accident..."Danny said, enjoying it somewhat even if it wasn't on purpose.

However, Katie was just stunned. She had just expected a little kiss on the cheek and then a hug to show him that she likes him and didn't mind seeing him again but the second her lips touched his, she felt something go off, like fireworks.

"Wow..."She let out as something came over her.

Her mind went blank and her hormones took over, she wrapped her arms around him before pulling him away. Danny, on the other hand, was still flustered and didn't know what to do.

"Huh..."He said, still dazed from the kiss until he noticed the look on the blonde girl's face.

He was a little flustered at it since she was silent and had this strange gleam in her eyes.

"Uh...Katie?..."He said but Katie didn't say anything.

"What's she doing?..."He thought, wondering if she's okay.

However, he got his answer and she answered him quickly.

The blonde girl suddenly took him by his shoulders and pulled him in as she kissed him again, much to his shock.

"WHOA!..."Danny let out but she immediately wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug as she started giving him kisses over and over his face.

This is not what the dark haired boy was expecting at all.

"IS THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENING?! THIS IS HAPPENING?! THIS IS HAPPENING! And I really don't think I'm dreaming this...because I couldn't make something like this up even if I tried!..."Danny thought in shock, he was frozen still while Katie smothered him with kisses.

She found her way to his lips again and held tight as she kissed him longer.

"Mmmmm~..."She let out a soft moan as her leg lifted out of bliss.

Danny wasn't sure what to do about this while Katie held on and kept up her kiss attack, though he couldn't say he hated it.

Anyway, the kiss lasted about 10 seconds before Katie, out of a need for air, reluctantly let go of Danny.

"MUAH!~..."She let out once parting from him.

She now had a dazed look on her face and a deep blush on her face, grinning as she felt something special inside begin to blossom. Danny, on the other hand was stunned as his face was covered in kisses and lipstick markings, like something straight out of a cartoon.

As reality was setting in for Danny, so many things were racing through his mind but he is having trouble speaking.

"Katie...I...uh...Did that really just happen?..."He let out while Katie just giggled at that as she still had her arms around him.

"You betcha, Cutie..."She said as she fluttered her eyes at him.

"Uh...Uh...Uh...Uh..."Danny stammered as his weak knee reaction acted up and she giggled again, finding his reaction precious.

"I guess I left you speechless, huh Danny? Well, here's another before we call it a night..."Katie said sweetly before giving him one more kiss, for good measure.

"I think...I just might be falling for you, Danny..."She thought in romantic bliss.

Once she pulled away, she let out a sigh from the joy she felt as she playfully nuzzled Danny's nose with her own after the kiss, while he is still too in shock, not that she noticed.

"I don't want him to go but I just know that we'll see each other again soon..."She thought in a fit of infatuation before speaking again.

"I have to go now but first...here..."She said as she handed him her phone number.

After that she waved to him goodbye as she kept her eyes on him until she was turning to her door.

"See you around, Cutie..."She said, winking at him before walking inside her house.

"Call me..."She said flirtatiously before heading in and closing the door.

All the while, Danny just staring blankly as Katie disappeared into the house, barely believing what transpired here.

"What the heck just happened?..."He said, still not comprehending her actions from moments ago until it all sunk in.

His date with the new girl in town just ended with more kisses than he's ever gotten in his high school life!

The ghost boy touched his lips where Katie had kissed him and his fingers rubbed his mouth as his entire face blushed red. He is still in shock but realized that he also had to get home before curfew.

"I better get going..."He thought before going home, walking away from the Kaboom house.

Unknown to the ghost boy, three figures had been hiding nearby and witness what occurred.

"Well, this might go slightly better than expected..."One of them, a male, said.

"And maybe we won't get harassing phone calls from that guy in red..."Another male said.

"And maybe a certain person will finally type our names out..."The only female said, getting annoyed that they haven't said their names out loud yet.

They also watched the ghost boy who wiped his mouth as he walked away and they snickered to themselves.

They knew all about him and what happened with Katie.

"Oh, he's got no idea what he's in for..."The first male said, with a wink to certain people only they can see.

"Should we tell him?..."The second male asked before he was answered by the only female of their group.

"Nah, let him figure it out..."The only female said quickly, waving off the other two's concern.

"Besides, It's nothing he can't handle...I think..."She said.

"If not, at least we'll have more relevance..."The first male said with a thumb's up.

"Besides, he'll definitely have a real blast with her..."He added, laughing.

The three figures all laughed and ran off to who knows where.

They have plans of their own for those two.
