Chapter 12: Katie At Casper High Part 2
Previously
"So this is Casper High, huh?..." Katie asked as she looked at the building.
"Yup, this is it. Fair warning, don't eat the mystery meat..."Danny said and Katie chuckled.
"Alright..."She said as she then wrapped her arms tightly around one of Danny's, making him blush.
"This is happening again..."He thought as the blonde girl kept smiling at him.
"Ready to introduce your new girlfriend?..." She asks with a seductive tone.
The ghost boy gulped and nodded.
"I... guess so..."He said as he lead her inside the school and Katie's first day at Casper High began.
Present Time
Danny and Katie soon entered the school together.
Katie still had her arms around Danny's s they walked together, something that did not go unnoticed by other students.
"Is that Fenton? What's he doing with that babe?..."One student whispered to the other.
"Who's she? Is she knew?..."Was heard.
"She must be if she's being seen with Fenton..."Another student could be heard.
Danny got annoyed by this and frowned.
"Geez, it's not that weird. Don't they have something else to look at?..."He thought.
"Danny, why is everyone staring at us?..."Katie asked and Danny sighed.
"Remember when Dash said that I'm not exactly high in the school pecking order...well, this is proof of that..."Danny said.
Katie heard this and rolled her eyes, not liking how dated Dash's idea of school popularity is.
"Well, who cares? I sure don't..."Katie said as she kept her arm around him. "Besides, anyone who thinks Dash is better than you clearly isn't that bright..."She said.
Danny smiled at that.
"I'll give her this much, she's a good judge of character..."He thought as they kept walking together until they made it to the office to get everything ready.
A few minutes later
Katie handed in her registration papers and got her class schedule. She was all set.
"I'm all set..."Katie said as she held the papers.
"What's your schedule?..."Danny asked.
"Let's see...Health class, Math, Science, History, Gym, Home economics and English..."She read, though she raised a brow when she read that she'd be having a "Mr. Lancer", for most of those classes.
"Huh...must be a typo..."She thought before her boyfriend spoke up.
"Huh, aside from Math and Home Economics, looks like we'll be in the same class..."Danny said.
"Perfect, that means we'll get to spend more with each other..."Katie said, pleased that they would be in most of the same classes.
Danny soon escorted her to her locker, 177 and Katie began opening it up.
"My new locker, not that far from yours I hope..."Katie said in a perky way as she took Danny by the arm around, not caring about the looks they were getting..
On the outside at least, it was another story.
"I don't get it. Why on Earth do people treat him this way? I mean, it's not like Danny's hurting anyone. So what if he has weird parents, he's plenty cute and doesn't mean harm. Whatever, as long as they don't bother us, things should be fine..."Katie thought, getting annoyed but choosing to ignore it.
She closed her locker after placing what's unneeded for now inside.
"Whatever, nothing they say is going to ruin this moment for me or my Pookie Bear..."Katie thought, focusing on the positives of her first day at this new school.
Katie and Danny continued to walk together, only to have the displeasure of running into some people.
"HEY FENTONOWSKI!..."An obnoxious voice was head.
"Oh no..."Danny muttered and Katie frowned.
"Him again?..."Katie muttered in annoyance as they turned and saw that it was Dash.
With him was a few other popular kids, such as most of his jock teammates and a girl with dark hair in a cute designer pink shirt, that Katie couldn't help but like.
However, it ended when she sent them a snobbish look while some of the jocks sent lecherous looks at the new girl.
"Who are you supposed to be?..."Paulina said as she sent a glare at Katie, obviously seeing her as a threat or something.
Katie returned the glare.
"The name is Katie Kaboom, I'm new around here..."Katie said, (keeping a firm stand against the snobbish popular girl, who she assumed is the queen bee of this school.
She didn't know who this girl is but Katie already didn't like her. Still, she tried to keep her patience and remain calm.
"Kaboom? What are you, a bomb expert?..." Paulina scoffed.
Katie would have snapped had it not been for her parents reminding her to not lose her temper on her first day of school and for the fact that she didn't want to look bad in front of Danny in public.
"Remember Katie, Dad and Mom told you to make a good first impression in this town and don't look bad around people you care about..." Katie thought positively to herself.
"You know, now that I got a good look at you. You look dated from the way you're dressed like someone from the 90s. I mean really, like where on Earth did you even find these tacky clothes clothes? A time machine?..."Paulina said, while laughing at the new girl along with a few other popular kids.
Katie fists clenched at that.
"Control...control..."Katie thought over and over again like a mantra.
The sight of Paulina laughing angered her, but not as much as what Dash did next.
The rude blonde jock lifted Danny up by his shirt collar and pinning him to the metal lockers.
"Remember how you got me kick out of the bowling alley yesterday? Well I just thought that now would be a great time to pay you back for that..."Dash smugly said, as he tightened his fist.
"I didn't do anything! You're the one who was bothering Katie and me..."Danny defended but the blonde jerk ignored him.
Katie didn't like this and stood between the two.
"Hey, leave him alone!..."She demanded
"Get lost, Babe..."Dash said as he merely pushed Danny into the wall.
Katie got mad but before she could do anything, one of the jocks spotted something.
"Oh man, Lancer alert..."The Asian jock said, getting the blondes attention.
"You got lucky, this time..."Dash said as he let go but not before tripping Danny and laughing rudely.
"HA! WHAT A LOSER!..."Dash said while he and his fellow popular kids laughed and walked away.
Katie stood there, frowning as she felt her temper rising and was soon at it's tipping point.
"What a bunch of... conceited..." Her eyes started glowing. "... horrible..." Her teeth started snarling. "... unbelievable..." Her voice began to deepen.
Danny, how had gotten up and dusted himself off, didn't see any of that, nor did he notice her voice changing. He was behind her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Katie? You okay?..."He asked in concern.
Remembering Danny's presence and the fact that they are still at school, Katie took a deep breath, the changes to her disappearing she maintained a calm composure.
"I'm... fine." She said in a breath.
She then remembered what happened to him and got worried.
"Are you okay, Pookie bear?..." Katie asked, while checking for any cuts or bruises on him.
"I'm fine, trust me I've handled worst than that..." Danny reassured her.
It didn't make Katie feel any better.
"What a bunch of jerks...I oughta-..."Katie, who had been on the verge of losing her temper, calmed when Danny place his hand on her shoulder.
"Katie, just drop it. He's not worth it and I don't want you to get hurt or get in trouble. First day, after all..."Danny said.
Dash is his problem and he doesn't want Katie to get in a crossfire.
Katie understood what he was saying but she didn't like this. She didn't like seeing those jerks treat Danny like that.
"I still think he should be taught a lesson..."She said bitterly but her temper calmed a bit, mostly due to his influence.
"No one hurts my Pookie-bear..."She thought but found herself feeling calmer around Danny, her anger subsiding. "Well, as long as he's keeping his distance, then I'll put all this on hold..."She thought.
At least for now.
A few moments later
As the ghost boy and the cute new blonde girl were making their way towards their lockers, they spotted the techno geek who had just arrived.
It's Tucker.
"Hey Tuck..."Danny said.
"Oh, hi Tucker..."Katie said in a friendly way.
"Hey you too...uh...so Katie, how are you liking Casper High so far?..."The tech geek asked.
Katie rolled her eyes as she recalled the unpleasant encounter from earlier and was just thankfully she minded her temper, or she would have never heard the end of it from her parents.
"Aside from that idiot jock and his friends, it's been pretty good. Especially since I'm sharing so many classes with Danny..."Katie said.
"I see you already met Dash and the other A-Listers..."Tucker said, unaware that reminding her of them didn't help her mood.
"Ugh, they were so rude and such snobs..."Katie grumbled but kept her cool. " My dad knew guys like them back in high school..."She said. "They went from top of the high school food chain to janitors at some rundown diner or something like that..."She muttered, recalling one time her folks took her and Tinker to their class reunion.
"You know, that's how Dash says he pictures how his life will be after graduation..."Danny said, not entirely kidding.
Katie laughed at this.
"What a chump. All brawn and no brain, can't believe I used to date someone like that..."She said before feeling a bit parched.
"I'll be back in a minute, Danny. I'm a little thirsty..."She said as she went to a nearby vending machine.
While Katie went to get something to drink, Danny and Tucker began to talk private.
"So, have you seen Sam yet?..."Danny asked and Tucker shook his head.
"No, I just heard Sam's folks got flat tires... all of them and they are still out of town..." Tucker said.
"Wow... and I'm guessing they have only one spare?..." Danny questions.
"Actually, they have no spares. Apparently, they saved money on spares and Mr. Manson thought doing any manual labor is beneath him... and it'll take about a few days to get the right size on all four and to get someone to replace the flats..."He said.
"Typical..."Danny said with an eye-roll, knowing how uppity Sam's parents are.
Before he could ask more about it, Katie came back and linked her arms with him.
"Come on Danny, we don't want to be late for class..."Katie said cutely.
"Uh..sure..."Danny said as he walked with her to class.
Tucker saw this and sighed.
"Lucky..."He muttered as he knew he had to get to class too before the bell rings.
At Homeroom
Danny and Tucker were all in home room while Katie had went to talk with the teacher, who'd introduce her proper to the class.
Now, they were all seated as Mr. Lancer walked in to make the announcement.
"Good morning, students. We have a new transfer student joining us today, now I expect all of you to make her feel welcomed..."Lancer announced, getting everyone's attention for once.
A new student in the middle of the semester wasn't really common here like in other school's due to the constant ghost attacks, but it wasn't impossible either.
"Even though I completely saw this coming, I can't say I expected them to act like this..."Danny thought as everyone's eyes were on Katie as she walked in and got attention from the student for the following reasons.
1) She's new and 2) She's really cute.
"Oh man, what a babe!..."Some jock, one of the few who hadn't been with Dash earlier, exclaimed in excitement, and many others agreed with him.
"Students, I would like to introduce you all to..."Mr. Lancer read the new students name from his clipboard and raised a brow. "Ms. Kaboom?..."He read and raised a brow and some students snickered at that.
Katie had an annoyed look at the usual reaction to her surname but ignored it.
"Yes, but I prefer Katie..."Katie said, maintaining her polite exterior.
Mr. Lancer was still confused but shrugged, since this isn't exactly the most unusual thing he has seen and had his job to do.
"Alright, Ms. Kaboom, why don't you introduce yourself?..."Mr. Lancer said, wanting to get on with this.
"Okay, Mr. Lancer..."Katie said, wanting to make a good impression with the educator.
The blonde girl just smiled cutely as she faced her new classmates...and her eyes landed on her boyfriend.
"Hello everyone...like I said, my name is Katie Kaboom and my family just moved here from Acmeville..."Katie introduced, wanting to make a good first impression.
"Acmeville? Why does that name sound familiar?..."Mr. Lancer thought as he wondered where he heard that place before while the new girl kept introducing herself.
"Why did you come to Amity Park?..."Mikey asked, finding her cute and out of his league.
Katie flinched a bit as she recalled the reasons why they moved but she can't exactly tell them that...not without getting a label on her first day of school, so she decided to give a little white lie.
"My dad got a job offer here..."She said, smiling innocently as more people asked her questions.
They asked her what she likes to do for fun, what kind of music she likes and even her star sign of all things until Mr. Lancer decided to end it there.
"Very well... now take your seat." Mr. Lancer said.
Katie saw a space next to Danny and smiled.
"Sweet, next to my new boyfriend..." She said.
The other students heard this and did a collective double take.
"WHAT?!..." All of them shouted.
Sure, they had seen her walking arm-in-arm with Danny earlier but didn't realize it was that serious.
"That's right, he's my boyfriend, what of it?..."Katie asked, annoyed by this attention while Mr. Lancer, also surprised, decided to just get on with class.
"What is she doing?..."Danny thought as every pair of eyes were on him and not Lancer.
The ghost boy then noticed the way Dash was looking at him and smiled nervously.
"Already regretting this..."Danny thought, already knowing Katie has unknowingly painted another target on his head.
