Chapter 13: Lunch Time
Previously
"Very well... now take your seat..." Mr. Lancer said.
Katie saw a space next to Danny and smiled.
"Sweet, next to my new boyfriend..." She said.
The other students heard this and did a collective double take.
"WHAT?!..." All of them shouted.
Sure, they had seen her walking arm-in-arm with Danny earlier but didn't realize it was that serious.
"That's right, he's my boyfriend, what of it?..."Katie asked, annoyed by this attention while Mr. Lancer, also surprised, decided to just get on with class.
"What is she doing?..."Danny thought as every pair of eyes were on him and not Lancer.
The ghost boy then noticed the way Dash was looking at him and smiled nervously.
"Already regretting this..."Danny thought, already knowing Katie has unknowingly painted another target on his head.
Present Time
It's now second period and a repeat of what happened an hour ago has occurred. Danny still had eyes on him, both in disbelief and in anger, some even both.
Mostly since Katie has been holding his hand whenever the teacher wasn't looking. At first Danny didn't mind but right now, he was trying to work.
"Uh... I'm kind of right handed, Katie...could you please let go?..." Danny went.
"Aww... do I gotta?..." She whined a playful tone.
"Since I don't want an F, fraid so..."Danny said and she pouted a bit.
"Fine... if only because I don't want you to fail..." Katie responded as she let go.
However, it didn't stop her from sneaking a kiss on the cheek when the teacher looked a way and then looking innocent when he turned back.
The ghost boy sighed.
"Can't help but wonder how her last boyfriend handled this..." Danny thought as this continued for the next few minutes.
As well as some jealous stares he was getting from the guys, including one in particular.
Later
During lunch time
Danny, Tucker and Katie were sitting together at a table eating lunch...or rather, the couple sat together and Tucker wondered if he was being a third wheel or not but Danny said that it was okay and Katie decided to play nice, since she wanted to make a good impression with her new boyfriend's friends.
"I was really hoping for some alone time...Oh well, Tucker has been nice so far and I'm sure this Sam guy I heard of will be nice too..."Katie thought as she sat next to Danny.
Danny was about to take a bite of his sandwich when he got distracted by one really loud whisper, apparently the other kids were beginning to gossip over the fact that the hot new girl and him were an item.
"I bet he's judging another beauty pageant..."One of the jocks whispered.
"That's gotta be it, a girl like THAT doesn't date a guy like Fenton for more than 2 minutes...His friend said, making Danny annoyed.
"Morons..."The ghost kid muttered as he noticed that all around them there were stares and whispers, looking at them like a new exhibit in the zoo.
"Really wish I could turn invisible now..."Danny thought, annoyed.
"Can't these guys see we're busy?..."Katie thought, also annoyed but decided to focus on her new man.
"So...I was thinking that after school, we could grab some ice cream..."Katie said and Danny was distracted.
Katie frowned when he didn't answer her.
"Danny...sweetie..."Katie said, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Huh? What?..."Danny said, his mind on getting everyone to stop looking at them.
"I said that after school, we could get ice cream..."Katie reminded.
"Oh..sorry...I was just thinking of how to get them to leave us alone...Sure, sounds fun..."Danny said and Katie smiled.
"Great..."She said, still smiling.
"Lucky..."The tech geek thought, still mildly jealous but happy for his friend.
Danny is a good guy and deserves a break, so maybe his luck is turning around.
Logically, it was only a matter of time for him too. Tucker eyes Valerie and Star sitting not far away and smiled.
"Maybe this time I'll get lucky..."He thought, hoping to hit on them later.
Danny, on the other hand had been thinking of the creature from the other night while Katie suddenly pulled back.
"I'll be back in a second, Sweetie. I gotta go powder my nose..."Katie said as she got up.
"Huh? Oh...sure..."Danny said as he watched her leave.
Danny watched her leave and smiled.
"Gotta admit, I like this..."He thought as he watched her go, admiring her from afar.
Maybe his luck really is turning around...
However, he soon found himself getting stares from the guys and girls and he frowned.
"So...tell me again how you managed to score her?..."Tucker asked and Danny sighed.
"A chance meeting..."Danny said.
While Danny explained to Tucker in whisper, the rest of the cafeteria whispered amongst themselves.
"I still don't get how he managed to get her to go out with him..."
"He must've blackmailed her..."
"Or she's insane..."
"Think he can help me ask Valerie out?..."
Danny frowned harder at this.
"Geez, give me a break for once..."He thought while Tucker spoke up again.
"Well, Katie is a cutie and seems nice enough. Good for you, Dude..."Tucker said.
"Thanks, Tuck..."Danny said before leaning closer.
"Remember that we're meeting at the usual time tonight..."Danny said and Tucker nodded.
He knew that he was talking about going on patrol. While Sam would be MIA for a while, they'd need to pick up the pace and cover more ground. Plus, Danny still wanted to double check and make sure that green monster from the other day was gone for good.
"Are we looking for anyone in particular or just the usual?..." Tucker asked
Danny was about to tell him about the monster now,figuring that it was time. However, the ghost boy didn't get to answer his best friend as something almost as annoying as the box ghost interrupted them.
"Hey Fenton, it's payback time..."Dash said as he and his goons came by.
"Oh great..."Danny grumbled as he knew how this would turn out.
In the girl's room
Katie was now done using the bathroom and was now working on her makeup on the mirror.
Since they have about half an hour of lunch left, she wanted to have some alone time with Danny without his friends around. Sure, Tucker is nice...definitely nicer than some of the other kids at this school, but she wanted some alone time with her new man.
"I bet this will cheer Danny up..."Katie thought mischievously as she already planned to get Danny alone with her before the bell rings and sneak in a quick kiss...or dozens.
However, as she began applying some lipstick, some girls walked into the room. One was in a cheerleader uniform and the other was dressed in expensive clothes and they both had snobby looks on their faces as they spoke.
"Did you see that new girl Danny Fenton has been walking around with?..."One asked snobbishly
"I know, he must've won a bet or something..."The other said as they walked in.
Only to see Katie, who heard the entire thing.
"Control...control..."Katie thought as she minded her temper while the two snobby girls saw the girl whom they were gossiping about.
"Oh, it's her..."One of the girls said while Katie just sent them a faux smile.
"Hi, I'm Katie...Katie Kaboom. I'm new here..."Katie said in a false sweet tone to conceal what she was really feeling inside.
"Whatever..."One of the snobs said while Katie frowned.
"For the record, Danny didn't win a bet..."Katie said.
"Don't try to cover for that loser, I heard from Dash that Fenton bribed you and-..."The other snobby girl was coon cut off by then other girl.
"HE'S NOT A LOSER! HE'S MY BOYFRIEND! STOP TREATING HIM LIKE DIRT!..."The blonde girl snapped at them, her face turning red.
The two snobby girls were shocked by her outburst but Katie managed to recover before any glow came.
"Control...control..."Katie reminded herself as she took a deep breath and sent the two stunned girls a glare that made them step back in fear.
"FYI, Dash is a moron and he's wrong. Don't talk to me again..."Katie said in a more controlled tone of voice before she stormed out of the bathroom.
Now out of the bathroom, Katie tried to keep her calm and not explode.
"Honestly, what's wrong with the girls at this school? Are they really dumb enough to think that Dash is good boyfriend material?..."Katie thought, irritated but keeping her control.
The day is halfway done and despite dealing with the annoying Dash and rude stares, it's been a good day and Danny is HER boyfriend now. People needed to respect that.
She took a breath, knowing one thing will make her feel better... Danny.
"Maybe now we can be alone..."She thought, already planning to take him someplace private to make out.
While Katie came back to the girls room, she had been about to rejoin her boyfriend, only to see Dash bully him again.
She got mad.
"Why that no good...lousy...No...control...control...CONTROL!..."Katie thought as she tried to mind her temper.
She was about to go over there and stop this but the sight of Dash raising his fist towards Danny was too much for her.
"THAT DOES IT!..."Katie thought as a familiar glow came to her eyes.
Back with Danny and Dash
"Dash, let me go!..."Danny said as the jock held him in his fist again.
Dash ignored it and sent a sneer.
"Let's see if that babe will still like you with a black eye!..."Dash said as he raised his fist.
"Ugh... just get it over with..."Danny thought as he braced for it.
However, before any harm could fall on him, there was suddenly the sound of an explosion nearby.
KABOOM!
"What the-..."Dash yelled as he dropped Danny.
"Huh? What the?..."Danny asked out loud as there was now loud stomping.
Suddenly, the walls broke down and the green monster from the other night appeared in all of it's terrifying glory and rage.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRR!..."The creature yelled loudly in a voice that shook the ground.
"GHOST!..."Dash shouted in horror as he and the other students were terrified.
"Oh man, it's back!..."Danny thought as he couldn't believe this.
The monster is back.
