Goin' KABOOM!

Chapter 17: Crazy In Love

Sam Manson was grumbling under her breath as her parents were busy arguing with some person over the phone over the limo.

Apparently, her parents were now complaining about how long it took and how it had a "cheap" brand of tires on it now. They were also complaining that the hotel room they were in no longer had snacks they wanted.

"I wanted gruyere cheese, this is cheddar!..."Jeremy shouted at the man, not pleased.

"We're not commoners..."Pamela said in a snooty way while her daughter rolled her eyes.

"It's just cheese..."Sam said, wondering how much longer this will take.

Unknown to her, three figures had been watching this family from a distance and smirking.

"I don't see the problem, cheddar's delicious..."One said as it swallowed a huge cheddar sandwich hole.

The other two nodded before leaving to go cause even more chaos elsewhere.

With Danny

Danny and Katie had just left her house and Katie said that she wanted to go to eat out next.

Danny wasn't too sure but the blonde girl was persuasive and insistent. Now, they were walking together and she clung to his arm again, tight enough to pull it off.

"Katie, that's too much..."Danny said.

"Oopsie, my bad..."Katie said as she loosen her grip a bit but didn't let go.

"So, after we eat a Luigi's...maybe we could go see a show or something? You...me...alone and a secluded spot together..."She suggested with a flirty grin.

"I'm a little short..."Danny said, however, his ghost sense suddenly went off.

"Oh man, now?!..."He thought.

He was about to figure out some kind of excuse to give Katie to leave, only for him to realize it wouldn't be necessary when the Box Ghost came flying by, doing his usual schtick.

"Oh, it's just that lame old Box Ghost. He's not even worth chasing half the time...not even for this..."Danny thought, before he wondered who the lame ghost was running away from.

"FREEZE SPOOK! WE GOT YOU!..."A deep voice bellowed and Danny recognized it.

"Oh no..."Danny let out as he knew what would happen, while Katie saw two jump suited figures running after the Box Ghost, guns ablaze.

"Danny-Sweetie...are those...are those your parents?..."Katie asked and the ghost boy felt like running away.

"Yes, that's them..."Danny said as he had no choice.

As Jazz once says, if he didn't tell a girl about his family's "profession" at some point, it was basically "entrapment" or something like that.

"What I wouldn't give for Skulker right now..."Danny thought as he tried to figure out a way out of this before his parents spotted them and did something to embarrass him.

No such luck, as his parents had sucked the lame ghost up and caught sight of him.

"Danny...Hi, Sweetie. Fancy seeing you here..."Maddie said, waving at him.

"Okay, now it's the worst it could get..."Danny thought as his parents approached them.

"I apologize in advance for what they'll do..."Danny muttered.

Katie wondered what he meant by that but that is when his folks reached them.

They saw Katie's arms around his and realizing who this might be.

"Danny...who is this?..."Maddie asked with a hinting smile as she eyed the girl.

Knowing there was no way out of this, Danny took a breath.

"Mom...Dad...this is Katie...my girlfriend..."The teenage boy said as he knew what would happen.

They both got closer, with eager smiles.

"Oh, so you're Katie..."Maddie said as she offered a hand.

Katie merely smiled sweetly and took it.

"Yes, I am. It's so nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Fenton. I hear a lot about you..."Katie said politely, trying hard to make a good impression on his parents.

On the inside, she was kind of afraid as she didn't want them to dislike her or forbid Danny from seeing her. He's the one thing that's made her not hate the move.

"I didn't expect to meet his parents so soon. I figured I would, just not like this. Besides, who knows...they might like me..."She thought.

"It's very nice to meet you too, Katie..."Maddie said, sounding cheery.

Danny didn't want this. This morning his parents brought up the subject of meeting Katie and he wanted to avoid that in hopes of them not embarrassing him.

Now, that is no longer an option as it's happening.

His dad even gave an approving grin.

"Way to go, Danny. That's my boy!..."Jack said approvingly, giving a thumbs up to Danny who tried to hide his embarrassment.

"He really has no idea when is the right time to do that..."Danny thought as Katie giggled.

"She can see and hear you, Dad..." Danny responded.

Jack didn't get what his issue was, continuing to act the way he does.

"I'm aware of that, Son..."Jack said.

"Don't worry, I won't tell..."Katie said, giggling at how goofy her boyfriend's dad was acting

"Anyway, we better send this spook back to the Ghost Zone ASAP. We'll leave you two lovebirds alone..."Jack said while Maddie got an idea.

"And we're having dinner at 6 tonight. You are welcomed to bring Katie, Danny..."Maddie said.

Danny wanted to speak up but Katie just smiled and nodded.

"Sure, I don't mind..."Katie said, smiling innocently.

"Great, we can get to know you while I blabber on about ghosts and my latest invention..."Jack said, as if that was normal.

"Great..."Katie said as her boyfriend dragged a hand on his face.

Danny hated this as his parents nodded.

"We better go now, have fun you too..."Maddie said as the two adults soon left.

Danny was feeling like it was a nightmare now.

"Where's Vlad when I need him?..."Danny muttered as Katie merely heard the first word.

"What was that, sweetheart?..."Katie asked, now noticing his expression.

"Uh... nothing!..." He went.

Katie may not have heard him, but had an inkling of idea what his issue was.

"It almost sounds like you don't want me to come over and have dinner with your folks..."Katie said.

Danny was silent and Katie didn't like this implication.

And like she always does when she finds something she doesn't like, she begins to panic and overreact.

"What? Is there a problem?! Are you saying you didn't want me to meet your parents?! Are you embarrassed by me or something?! Do they hate me already?!..."Katie said, now on the verge of losing it.

Danny actually was taken back by this reaction.

"WHAT?! NO! It's not you, Katie..."Danny insisted. "Not yet, anyway..."He mentally added but was wise not to say.

"It's just...oh, Katie...you saw my parents just now...in the jumpsuits...and the guns. I wanted to put off you meeting them because...well, there's a reason people look down on us..."Danny confessed.

Katie, now realized that Danny was just embarrassed by his parents and not her, instantly calmed down before she even started turning red and glowing, which was a good thing.

The girl, now just giggled as she now understood the issue.

"Oh, Danny...you're being silly..."Katie said as she kissed him on the cheek, finding this both amusing and adorable.

Danny was kind of taken back by this mood swing as Katie just went back to normal fast.

"You don't have to feel worried. I already know your folks hunt ghost and their job. I already told you that I don't have an issue with it. Besides, they seem nice and I have seen weirder..."Katie said, wanting him to know that she'll accept his folks.

Danny was still not sure about this.

"I...well...you haven't seen them at home...plus...you've never had to deal with your house catching fire at least once a month..."Danny said but Katie just smiled and shook her head.

"It'll be fun and besides, my old house used to have the same issue... for some reason..."Katie said and Danny raised a brow at that.

"Huh?..."He said but Katie waved a hand at that.

"Don't know but don't care right now, all that matters is I'm coming and I just know that we'll all get along great..."She said, making it clear that she won't change her mind about having dinner with his folks.

"Now come on...we have lunch to get to and if you are good, you might find something sweet for dessert..."Katie said suggestively, hinting what she wants for later.

Danny, having experienced what was probably the most perplexing five minutes of his life, kept silent as the blonde girl kept pulling him.

About an hour later

Tucker Foley had been enjoying his unofficial day off school at the comic book shop.

However, he had to get home and get ready for patrol with Danny later, especially since they had to go back to searching for that strange monster that attacked Dash.

"What DID Dash do to get on that things bad side? Maybe it's another Sydney Poindexter thing..."The techno geek considered as he decided to take a short-cut home.

As he walked, he kept thinking of that strange non-ghost monster and wondered just where did it come from.

"Weird how something like that could disappear so fast..."Tucker thought, wondering just where something that big and ugly could have gotten to.

"Mmmm~..."Was heard as Tucker passed by an alley.

"Huh?..."Tucker let out as he went back to see what that was.

He looked and his jaw dropped when he found the source of that noise.

There, in the alley, it was Katie and she was with Danny...and they were making out.

Okay, Tucker knew that Katie is Danny's new girlfriend and he knew that she had a thing for him but still couldn't believe it as they were deeply lip-locking and Katie seemed really into it.

The tech geek snapped out of it and felt a mixture of jealousy and pride for his best friend.

"Dang, and I thought him getting ghost powers was the unexpected..."Tucker thought as he kept walking, not wanting to disturb them.

All the while, wondering what was Danny's secret...and how also wondering how he could last that long without needing to breathe.

Later that evening

Danny, who had spent about 2 hours looking for the monster with Tucker and finding nothing, had been exhausted. Even more as he knew that Katie is coming over to have dinner with his parents and officially meet them.

He sincerely wished this weren't happening.

"Can't believe this..."Danny said as he put the last of the weapons in the vault, not wanting to be at the house right now.

He marched down to the living room, where his sister was on the sofa, reading and aware that he was in a pickle right now.

"So, this is happening. Do you have a game or are just going to wing it and see what happens?..."Jazz said, knowing that this will be the official meeting between her brother's girlfriend and their parents.

Her brother just groaned, looking distressed.

"I so don't want to do this..."Danny said as he dragged a hand down his face, wanting nothing more than to leave.

"Was their first meet up bad or just embarrassing?..."Jazz said, already having an idea.

"A little of both...Mom and Dad embarrassed me in front of Katie, invited her to dinner and she said yes. I know that she likes me but...I don't know...is it just me or is she moving our relationship a little too fast for this to be happening now?..."He said.

Jazz shook her head.

I'll admit that I think this is too soon but it's not like she's a danger, or in danger in this case..."Jazz said, before going back to her book.

Danny sighed loudly and just then, the doorbell rang and he knew who it was.

"It's Katie...I better get it before Mom and Dad do..."Danny said, rushing over to the door.

He opened the door and saw his cute girlfriend was there, wearing a cute-looking yet casual pink dress that gave a modest yet feminine look, she also did her makeup to make a good first impression.

"Hi, Danny..."Katie said as she hugged him upon arrival.

Danny, despite it all, smiled at that.

"Hey, you look great..."He admitted and Katie rewarded him with a quick peck on the cheek.

He let her inside and his family who were at the table and welcomed her into their home. All the while, Danny wondered if this will all go well or not.

Later

About half an hour had passed of food and small talk.

Danny was right that his parents began embarrassing him again, what with his dad blabbing about ghosts and his mom's asked Katie more questions about her family, her home and where she came from and the blonde girl answered them without issue.

Danny felt some relief but worried something will go wrong.

After all, good things don't normally happen without a hitch but Katie waited at the table with a sweet smile as she conversed with the Fenton parents. She was the image of the sweet girl next door as Danny did everything he could to manage his emotions.

His parents were none the wiser as Jack babbled on about ghosts again...or he would've had Maddie not stopped him.

"So, Katie, what do you think of Amity Park so far?..."Maddie asked.

Katie gave a playful and innocent blush as she turned to Danny. The boy froze under her gaze.

"It's nice...But I think Danny's the most special thing of all..."She said in a girlish tone.

"And right now, I'm sure you are that, but not in the same way..."Danny thought, still worried that she might say something overly cutesy but she hasn't yet.

He had been nervous and somewhat on edge as he occasionally felt Katie's hand on his or her foot tapping his underneath the table when his folks weren't looking, making the ghost boy turn red as she just had an innocent look on her face the entire time, but he could see a glint in her eyes.

"This is going to be a long night, isn't it?..."The ghost boy thought nervously, gulping.

A few hours later

The dinner continued and had been very stressful to Danny but surprisingly, his parents and Katie seem to hit it off.

Thankfully, she didn't call him anything TOO embarrassingly cutesy or mentioned the "L" word tonight, she just acted...well...like a normal person...sure, a little little overly polite but it was kind of expected in this situation.

But it surprised him that someone as normal as Katie could keep a straight face and get along so well with his folks so fast, even Sam and Tucker were at first taken back when his dad first mentioned the ghost hunting thing.

Katie, on the other hand, didn't have any issue it seems.

Anyway, it was now late and after Katie offered to help do the dishes (which she did to win some brownie points), it was time to go.

"Thank you again for the invite, Mrs. Fenton. We should all do this again real soon..."Katie said, nodding to them.

She didn't notice Danny making a face at that, while Jack and Maddie just smiled.

"It was nice to have you, Katie. Drop by any time..."Maddie said, clasping her hands together.

"Yeah, I can blabber more about ghosts some more..."Jack said as he grinned.

Danny sighed at this before getting their attention.

"I...uh...better walk Katie home..."He said, wanting to end this meeting before someone says something he'd regret.

"Okay, be safe you two..."Maddie said.

"Yeah and call us if you see a ghost..."Jack said before going inside with his wife.

Danny dragged Katie away, while the blonde girl giggled.

"I gotta say Danny, your parents seem nice..."Katie said, without a hint of sarcasm.

"Thanks, I appreciate the honesty..."Danny said, glad that was over.

However, as soon as they turned the corner...and were out of his parents sight, Katie then grabbed him and pushed him against the wall.

"HEY!..."Danny exclaimed, only to see Katie did the deed before sending him a very amorous look.

"Well, dinner with your folks was fun but now, let's have our dessert..."Katie said as she planted one on him, right on the lips.

Danny was a little surprised by this, deep down he did expect this to happen eventually.

"As if on cue..."He thought as he found himself being pulled into another intense make out session by his very, VERY attached girlfriend.

Unknown to them, a certain spy bug had been nearby and saw the whole thing.

"Well...what have we hear?..."A certain fruitloop said as a plan was formed.

Uh oh.
