Chapter 25: Help! I'm dating a monster!
Mr. and Mrs. Kaboom were home now. Mrs. Kaboom was knitting a sweater while her husband read the newspaper and their son Tinker was playing with his air plane and making sounds.
They noticed the time and it was getting late.
"Just stay calm...Just stay calm..."The mother thought.
"It's getting late. No idea if she's caused trouble, yet..."The father thought.
Soon enough, the door opened and they saw their daughter walk in, with a big smile on her face.
The same smile she had every day since they moved here...since she met her new boyfriend.
"Hello, wonderful family..."Katie greeted, looking happy...much to her family's relief.
"Oh...hi Princess..."Mr. Kaboom said, relieved she wasn't upset.
"Did you and Danny have a nice time?..."Mrs. Kaboom asked, still knitting.
Katie smiled but tried to play it cool.
"Oh, it was wonderful and we're going to the school dance together..."Katie said.
"Oh, that's wonderful, pud'n..."Her father said.
"Yeah, so...for the dance, I'm gonna need a new dress, a ride, matching shoes, get my hair done, a manicure, cosmetics, perfume and I'll have to borrow your credit card..."Katie said in a perky tone.
Her parents perky look dropped at that.
"Uh, slow down, Princess...shouldn't we talk about this?..."Her father asked gently, trying not to upset her.
His daughter just rolled her eyes.
"Daddy, it's my first dance with Danny. I want it to be perfect..."Katie said, as if that mattered most.
Her parents knew from experience that she wanted to enjoy a dance and wouldn't rest if she got it perfect... and they also knew about how upset she gets if it's not perfect.
Her parents just sighed.
"Can you at least remember your curfew, Sweetie?..."Her father asked, hoping she'd compromise.
Katie rolled her eyes and agreed.
"Okay, Daddy. I asked Danny and he has a curfew too. I won't be out after midnight..."Katie said, before she danced happily to her room.
All the while, she thought about Danny and their upcoming dance.
"Oh, Danny..."Katie thought, still in love.
It was going to be wonderful, she just knew it.
Meanwhile
Danny had called an emergency meeting in the OPT center. His parents were out to dinner tonight and everyone in Team Phantom is here, even Jazz since this needed to be addressed.
He just informed them of the terrible discovery he had made, about how Katie turned out to be the big mysterious monster that randomly started showing up around town
It took a while before everyone was on the same level.
"So... she's the monster?..." Jazz asked in disbelief.
Danny nodded, still having a haunted look due to everything he had gone through and also the make out session that she subjected him to after said battle, for five minutes before she finally decided to head home.
"How did it take me this long to see the connections, it seems so obvious when looking back..."He thought, still haunted by revelation.
He really was clueless, wasn't he?
He should have figured it out when the monster went after Dash of all people!
"This is just my luck..."He thought, still haunted by the now bittersweet memories.
"You sure know how to pick 'em..." Sam snarked.
"I'm way less jealous now..." Tucker admits, earning glares from Sam and Jazz.
"Not now, Tucker..." Jazz and Sam said together.
Danny pressed his hands into his forehead.
"On top it all off, she's got the idea in her head that I want to take her to the dance...which means her hand will be all over me the whole night!..."He muttered, knowing he needed a way out of it.
It's a rare time where he wanted a ghost to attack his school.
"Funny... but I'm not exactly keen on going to the dance with her or anything..." Danny muttered as he imaged monster Katie in a dress.
He felt mentally exhausted after everything he went through tonight, but this took the cake.
He thought back to the kissing...he thought back to Katie and the feeling of her lips on his and shuddered.
"I can't believe I enjoyed that before!..."He thought, still haunted by the knowledge.
"If we're not careful, the dance won't be the end of it..." Tucker adds.
Hearing that, Danny realized his point.
"Wait...not the end of it? He's not suggesting what I think he's suggesting...is he?..."Danny thought, recollecting Katie herself and putting two and two together.
Katie thinks she's in love with him and seems determined to make him return the feeling and be hers forever. A feeling he's not interested in returning anymore and to be honest, the thought was now most dreadful.
"What if we do stay together after that...after graduating?..."Danny wondered as he thought about the future.
The half ghost suddenly became scared as his mind went to places he regretted and he became even paler than a ghost as he got cold and breathed heavy.
"I just had a horrible realization..." Danny muttered as a look of horror was on his face.
"What?..." Sam asked, wondering how this can get worse.
"It's been less than a week and Katie's already said that she loves me, calls me a ridiculously cutesy pet name, played footsie with me, made out with me whether I wanted to or not and constantly talks about is dating. She also apparently has the ability to transform into her monster form and she just wrecks everything in her path..."Danny said, as he realized now that Katie went after people who did something to upset her...like Dash did or Paulina and Star.
Sam and Tucker both blinked at that.
"Uh...that does sound awful..."Sam said, not sure what else to say to all that.
"I'm not following, dude..."Tucker said.
Danny frowned before he screamed in anger much to his friends shock.
"It means that if I have to keep this up until we're legal... she's probably gonna want me to MARRY her!..." He said with the color on his face drained.
Hearing that made Sam want to scream, but she kept it in.
"And... you're saying this... why?..."She asked, not liking this.
"Because there's a 99% chance that if we have at least one girl, Amity Park is going to be sieged by one ghost-powered hulking monster!..." He shouted, looking like he was about to pass out.
"Calm down, Danny..."Jazz said, worried for his sanity right now.
"I can't! Not only is Katie the clingiest girl I have ever met but now she turns into a near unstoppable monster when she's angry and if I try and break up with her, I'll either be pummeled or have to reveal my identity to her!..."He shouted.
"And who knows what she'll do if she finds out about your powers..."Tucker couldn't help but add.
Jazz then let out a horrified gasp as her mind branches out the gravity of the situation.
"She could expose you..."Jazz realized as she thought about the other option. "But if she uses this and assuming her powers are genetic... this girl will probably make herself my sister-in-law, but you two could make things worse if any of your kids have both your powers..."Jazz said.
Danny groaned.
"So, she'll either destroy me and the city, expose me, smother me into submission or make me walk down the aisle..."The ghost boy said, feeling the situation getting worse.
"Just about..." Tucker adds, only to be ribbed.
"Not helping..."Jazz hissed at him.
Danny laughed nervously as he came to realize how terrible this would be. His mind was now an anxious, nervous, guilt-ridden wreck.
He saw no way of this problem.
Jazz looked worried about her younger brother's well-being. While Sam was having a slightly harder time dealing and coming to terms with how this situation came to be.
Both girls wanted to help, but weren't yet sure of how.
He seemed close to having a meltdown now.
"The worst part is that I don't even think she knows about her monster form..."He added, as he knew that she wasn't lying.
She seemed so clueless after the whole thing.
"So... what will you do?..." Tucker asked.
"I...I don't know... I have no idea how to get out of this..."He admitted as he felt his mouth get dry.
Danny couldn't take this as he felt like Katie was driving him nuts.
"It pains me to say this, but I have to play this out until I find a way out...no matter how much I hate this, I have to be Katie's boyfriend..."Danny said, sounding a little hopeless.
"I've got to do something and fast or I'm going to be stuck with her forever..."Danny said as he covered his face, unable to believe the predicament he is in.
He presses his back against the metal wall and slowly slid down, the dread growing on his face.
The rest of Team Phantom were at a lost of to do exactly. Even Sam couldn't snark about the situation as everyone was scared at the events possibly unfolding.
For now they stayed by Danny's side in an attempt to lighten his bleak looking demeanor and help him find an answer.
Later
Danny was now in his room, still dreading over his situation. A situation he had only himself to blame for getting into this.
"I can't believe this..."He thought, feeling exhausted.
Katie is not only the clingiest girlfriend he has ever had, but she also happens to be a very powerful non-ghost monster that seems to be getting more powerful by the day. Along with that, she was getting more attached to him at the same time.
"Why me?!..."He thought, feeling like he should runaway or something.
She seemed so nice otherwise. Sure, she had been pretty crazy and she was a little jealous when Danny talked to girls who weren't her or Jazz...and she was pretty smothering...and kinda obsessive but she cared about her little brother when he got hurt, she was nice to Tucker and didn't make fun of him when she found out about his parents...but this was too much.
He just didn't know what to do.
"I gotta break up with her...but what if she gets mad and destroys the whole town because of it? Can I even get out of this crazy mess?!..."He thought as he recalled that battle earlier.
He doesn't know why but Katie seems to be getting stronger. In their first fight, he managed to land some good hits on her monster form but in the last fight...even with Valerie's help, her monster form couldn't be beat...the best he could do was place the tracking device on her and look at how that turned out.
Katie is not only a monster with a big temper, but add to that, she also has super strength, shape-shifting, control over fire and who knows what else is in her arsenal?!
What's worse is that she clearly isn't evil, at least not when she wasn't green from what he knew of. She wasn't trying to use him or even knows about his powers...which means she's serious about loving him.
He recalled that look in her eyes from earlier. He saw that they were full of love and passion and he couldn't believe they belonged to some kind of rage monster.
Now he knew, and he wanted nothing to do with her anymore!
His head journeyed to the clouds as he contemplated the worst possible scenario.
He briefly had a bad day dream where he, now older, was cowering in a corner while Katie wore a white wedding dress and matching veil, smiling happily and went down the aisle, followed by her parents, praying for the ghost boy. After that, usual wedding ceremony would happen as a priest drilled on as Danny focused in fear on his bride who kissed him deeply and pulled him by the arm into a limousine. After that, Katie had carried Danny to their new home, with a flash forward to his honeymoon and the arrival of several monster children who also happen to have the power of levitation, invisibility, intangibility, and glowing green eyes and Katie would go from being a super clingy girlfriend to a super possessive wife who also has the power to turn into a 10-ft tall monster that he couldn't handle and would destroy the city if he disobeys.
It's a nightmare.
The ghostly boy really wanted to make sure that would not be his fate.
"I have to find some way to break up with her... and get rid of those powers..."Danny thought as he breathed heavy as he tried to get to sleep.
He had to find a way out... before it's too late.
