Chapter 26: Help! I'm dating a monster! Part 2
The Next Day
Katie woke up, feeling over the moon.
She just woke up from having a wonderful dream about Danny...about them having the time of their lives at the dance together, ending with a passionate kiss that they shared.
"Wonderful..."Katie thought as she began to get ready for her day.
As she got ready, she blushed as she thought of that dream.
The last big dance for her was her prom at her old school. She was one of the few sophomore girls to be asked to it and it had been amazing...until her so-called date turned out to have been a dud that she no longer talks about.
"And to think, I spent most of the evening trying to convince Daddy to ease up on my curfew for that creep..."She thought as she shook that memory away.
She no longer thinks about him...no, now she has Danny and they will be heading to the school dance together next week...
Hopefully, the first of many dances between them...among other things.
"I bet we'll have a lot of fun at the dance...and for the rest of high school..."She thought as she began to get dressed and do her hair.
She sighed as she imagined Danny looking so handsome in a suit and she wore the best dress she can find and they spent the whole evening together in each other's arms.
"It's gonna be perfect..."She thought as she finished applying her makeup.
Once done, she looked at her reflection and winked at it.
"If looks could kill, he'd be a ghost himself by now..."She thought, pleased.
The blonde girl then went to join her family for breakfast, as well as making plans to see a certain cute boy who no doubt will be happy to see her again.
Meanwhile
Danny had woken up, feeling exhausted due to nightly ghost fighting and his growing anxiety about his "relationship" with Katie.
A girl whom is both obsessed with him and also has the ability to turn into a raging she-beast at any time.
"Should have let that giant iguana eat me last night..."He thought as he ignored his folks questions about his date last night.
After they went down to the lab to work on more of their gadgets, the ghostly boy called his friends over and they were trying to discuss more strategies involving Katie.
"Can't anyone think of something? Anything?..."Danny asked.
"This isn't our usual kind of trouble, Dude..."Tucker said.
"You usually just punch the problem..."Jazz said.
"True but I'm open to suggestions..."Danny said, getting desperate.
"You could always get her to like someone else, Dude..."Tucker said.
"That might seem a bit hard, especially since you've been nothing but nice to her..."Jazz said.
"Plus, I can't bring myself to have some normal guy deal with her monster form..."Danny said before he sighed bitterly.
"There's gotta be a way to end this relationship without ending the city and maybe get her to leave too..."He thought as he scratched his chin.
"So, got any real ideas on what to do about Katie?..." Sam asked, wanting to get rid of her fast.
"What's that about me?..." Katie asked as she walked in, not hearing the rest of their words.
Everyone straightened their backs in surprise.
"Katie?..." Danny asked with loud volume. "When did you get here?..."He asked, nervously.
"A few moments ago...your folks let me in..."Katie explained. "I overheard my name and came upstairs..."She said and Team Phantom got nervous until she smiled.
"Is it about my birthday? Because it's okay, I don't need anything... although I won't say no to ice cream..."She said in a perky way.
Sam gritted her teeth at her while Danny sweated uncomfortably.
"She actually thought I remembered her birthday?..."He thought as he sweated profusely.
"Uh...can't say..."He said. "So...uh...what brings you here?..."He asked and instantly found himself in a hug as Katie smiled again.
"Well, since it's Saturday and the dance will be next Friday, I thought I'd pop in..."Katie explained, not noticing Sam's jealous frown.
"Right..." He said.
"I'd tear her hair off if it wouldn't lead to this block being destroyed..." Sam thought as the blonde girl kept her arms around Danny until he tried to excuse himself from her grasp without using intangibility.
"Uh...Katie...could you please give us a moment? Uh...it's family/friends stuff..."Danny lied.
"Huh? Oh...okay...I'll wait for you in the living room, Sweetie..."Katie said before winking at him.
Once she went down, Danny sighed in relief.
"This is making me miss the good old days of it being just ghosts..."Danny thought, feeling stressed out as he turned to his friends and sister in desperation.
"Guys you've got to help me, I don't know if I can keep doing this for much longer!..."Danny said in a panicky way.
"Chill out, Dude..."Tucker said.
"Don't worry little brother, we're all here for you and we will think of someway out of this predicament..."Jazz said.
Danny calmed down after hearing that, but still looked a little tried.
"Okay, I'm open to ideas..."He said as he sat down as they all tried to think.
"So, we already know that breaking up with her is definitely a no-no." Tucker said.
"Just about..." Sam added bitterly.
"Getting away from her is starting to look pretty hopeless, unless you want to live in a pile of rubble..."Danny grumbled, quietly.
"There's a chance she might break up with you..."Jazz said, even if it seems unlikely.
"Yeah right..."Danny muttered.
"Wait...that could work..."Sam said.
"What are you talking about?..."Danny asked, wondering her intent.
"Think about it...you can't break up with Katie since it'd risk her getting angry...but what if SHE breaks up with you? Or better yet...make her break up with you..."Sam suggested.
Danny thought about and he smiled.
"That's a good idea..."He said, feeling hopeful.
"And I'll help!..." Tucker said.
"Right, just do everything Tucker does to get a date and you'll be fine..." Sam said.
"Yea- HEY!..." Tucker went as Sam smirked and Jazz was unable to stifle a laugh.
"You've asked out and were rejected or dumped by 99% of Casper High, Tuck. It's a fair statement..." Danny pointed out, while his male friend grumbled.
Jazz raised a brow at that.
"Whose the one percent?..." The red head questioned.
"Remember that Kitty overshadowed Paulina to make Johnny jealous...Star dated Tucker because she needed someone to boss around..." Sam answered
Jazz nodded, already knowing the story of that adventure
"I thought we agreed never to bring that up, like with GREGOR!..."Tucker grumbled.
Sam frowned at the mention of the 'Hungarian' exchange student that she never wants to think about again. Danny ignored this and began to like the idea.
"Okay, so make Katie dump me...that could work..."Danny said.
"In addition, you can try and figure out where her powers come from...and then maybe we can figure out a way to keep her from going on any more rampages..."Jazz said.
Sam wasn't sure about that part.
"So, you're suggesting that Danny not only sabotages himself during their dates to get the ticking time bomb to dump him but also have us look for a way to get rid of those powers..."Sam said.
"Pretty much, we can help figure out what's wrong with her..."Tucker said.
"Yeah, that's basically it and I'll help with the research..."Jazz nodded.
Danny heard this and sighed.
"Well looks like that's the best plan we're got so far, I guess. Anyway, I better go now before Katie comes back up here..."He muttered as he left the room.
"Good luck, Dude..."Tucker said.
"And remember, try to act less charming and get her to think you're a lousy boyfriend..."Sam said, hoping that it would work soon.
Danny took a breath and mentally prepared himself for any possible outcomes as he headed downstairs.
Downstairs
The ghost boy soon was downstairs and saw that Katie was waiting for him in the living room.
He took a deep breath and stepped forward, readying himself for anything.
"Well, here goes nothing..."He whispered as he went to join the blonde girl.
Katie smiled when he arrived.
"Hey, you..."Katie said as she kissed him on the cheek.
Danny tried hard not to cringe at that.
"Okay, like Tucker..."He thought with a slight shudder but kept a fake smile on his face.
"Uh...hey...so...uh...what did you say wanna do again?..."Danny asked, nervously.
"Well, like I said...I decided to pop in and see if you wanted to go out again..."Katie said, smiling cutely.
Danny saw that smile and had he never found the tracking device on her, he never would of thought it could belong to that angry monster that has been causing havoc all over town...or that said monster would have secretly been his new girlfriend.
"Patience Fenton, you gotta try..."He thought before sighing. "The sooner I figure out how to stop her rampages and get her to dump me, the better for Amity Park and I can get my life back to normal...or my version of normal..."He thought, a little more optimistic.
However, Katie soon reached out and grabbed Danny's hand.
While the gesture was purely romantic, it made the ghost boy's back shoot up, sending chills. He gripped the hand tighter, making the girl squeeze it a bit in return.
"Awww...Danny..."Katie cooed.
Danny gave a nervous smile, mentally sighing he didn't do anything wrong. Well, enough for Katie to transform, anyway.
"Keep it cool..."He thought while Katie giggled.
"Come on, let's go pookie bear . It's Saturday and I want to paint the town red with my favorite man..."She said in a perky way as she dragged the ghost boy out to go on another date
Danny hated this but tried to be optimistic.
"Okay, Fenton. Relax, just be the opposite of what she wants. You can do this..."He thought, trying to remind himself of what to do.
Besides, how hard could it be to get a girl to dump you on purpose, anyway?

Dreams Come True 996 and DJ Rodriguez: . I wanna be clear that GK is no where near over and I do plan on expanding more on Danny and Katie's "relationship", I won't give spoilers but I need to point out that it's not over yet and the couple will go through much more stuff before the end.
It's just that Danny's reaction...while a bit extreme...is due to stress and shock...after all, it's been less than a week into the relationship with Katie saying she loves him, on top of the recent discovery...

As for Paulina, I just haven't gotten inspired yet to write a fic about her with character development yet and in my stories, I like having a female rival for my main female lead...I just use Paulina since she is a cannon example, that's all and I try to portray her as she was in the show.
