Goin' KABOOM!

Chapter 27: Help! I'm dating a monster! Part 3

Monday

"WHY HASN'T SHE DUMPED ME YET?!..."Danny thought in exasperation as he walked into Casper High.

Katie was once again clinging to his arm, looking smitten.

"The weekend was great! Don't you think, Danny?..."Katie said, as she still held on.

"Yeah...it was the best..."Danny said in sarcasm, not that she noticed.

"And today feels like it's going to be another lovely day. Don't you think so, Hon?..."She asked, still not letting go.

"Oh, I'll bet it is..."He snarked.

The ghost boy notice some jealous glares he was getting and sighed.

"If only they knew what she's really like..."He thought, pinching the bridge between his eyebrows as he recalled these last few days.

He spent all weekend trying to get Katie to dump him, as well as learn more about her powers...without letting her realize what he was trying to do.

However, as he kept asking stuff like her family's history or the town she was from, she seemed to talk about her former home fondly with no indication of anything unusual.

He could still remember his failed attempts from Saturday and then yesterday alone, still dumbfounded at how it all happened.

FLASHBACK

It was Saturday, just after Katie stopped by the ghost boy's house and Danny found himself being dragged on yet another date with her.

Katie had suggested a romantic movie, but Danny wasn't sure, due to his conflicting feelings, and picked out another at random: a horror movie.

The blonde girl was a little miffed, but didn't transform. No, her thoughts gave rise to some mischievousness as she agreed, much to the boy's confusion but he soon found out the hard way why she changed her tune.

At the first scare, Danny immediately regretted his decision as Katie wrapped her arms around him. While it was only a loving squeeze, it made the boy imagine a giant boa constrictor around him, choking the life out of him...only this one he couldn't just phase out of.

"Scary!..."Katie faked her fear. "Danny, protect me..."She added as she kept clinging to him.

Every time someone died or the monster showed up, the girl would close in on her boyfriend, burying her face in his chest and remembering how surprisingly toned he is under his baggy clothes.

"This is so cute..."Katie thought. "It was a good idea after all. Now, I can cuddle with Danny even more...and I can feel what he's hiding under his shirt..."She thought with a giggle and held on tight to her boyfriend as another scream came from the movie screen.

Danny noticed the smirk on her face and even someone as clueless as he is could figure out what she was probably thinking and that she misunderstood his intentions here.

"Oh, great...she thinks I was making a move and won't stop clinging to me even more now..." Danny thought, nervous and confused before he thought of something.

"Wait...this is a move that WORKS?!..."He thought in disbelief.

He shook his head and tried to focus.

"Come on, I gotta get her to dump me...before something else happens!..."He thought in nervousness.

Once the ghost boy had an idea that he thought might work, he patiently waited until the movie was over so he could put it to action.

Later

After the movie, Katie took him to a local diner and was now trying to feed him some of her sundae.

"Here, say "ahhhh"..."Katie said, lifting the spoon to Danny.

The surrounding boys looked on in jealousy, but Danny was wracked with nervousness. His mind put in the image of Katie's monster form with the smirk he had seen earlier. Only this time, they snapped open like she was going to eat the boy.

"Just relax and eat the dessert she's offering... just get it over with..."The ghost boy thought, biting down the spoon full of it, much to Katie's delight.

Still, he thought now was as good of a time as any to try and learn more about Katie's condition...and maybe get dumped by her too.

He gulped as he hoped to get some kind of info out of her.

"So, Katie...uh...there has been something I have been wanting to ask you..."Danny said nervously.

"What is it, Danny?..."Katie asked as she took a spoonful of the ice cream as well.

Danny tried focused on the task at hand and continued.

"Well, uh... has anyone in your family ever experience problems controlling their emotions, like say anger for example?..."He asked, being careful with his wording.

Katie just had a clueless look on her face.

"No, not that I'm aware of..."She answered simply.

Danny frowned a bit.

"Darn it..."He though before he tried again.

"Really...you...uh...don't know anyone in your family that has anger problems...or any kind of problems..."He asked again.

Katie shook her head.

"Not really, not that I recall..."She answered simply.

Danny frowned but continued.

"Are you sure? Like a hundred percent?..."He asked, trying to sound casual.

'I'm sure. I think I'd know my own family..."Katie said, still not seeing his intentions.

"Darn it, hit a dead end..."He thought, bummed out that he didn't get any info about her condition.

Still, he figured that he could at least try and get dumped right now, so he went on with his backup plan.

"Okay, time to go with plan B..."Danny thought as he put his plan into action.

Act like Tucker does on a date in order to make Katie loose interest in him.

Plus, how hard can that be?

He took a deep breath and leaned on the wall with one hand, adopting the same "charm" Tucker has.

"So, Kates..."Danny began, recalling how his best friend acted with girls...and how it always ends with him coming home after strike three-thousand.

Katie blinked but smiled happily as she noticed something.

"I see you found a nickname for me..."The blonde girl said, sounding please.

The ghost boy kept his fake smile on as he continued.

"Well, came up with it... cause I know you so well..."Danny said as he started with plan B.

It was a guaranteed girl repellent: Eat like Tucker, talk like Tucker, and brag like Tucker.

"So, let's grab some chow..."He said as he began to dig into his meal, hoping that this would work.

10 minutes later

Danny tried to gross her out by eating sloppy-like, talk her ear off about space and video games, even exaggerate his bowling skills to the point of unrealistic expectations.

"So..." He chewed with his mouth open. "Got the newest game, all about space aliens and stuff... almost as good as the time I scored strikes in bowling every time it was my turn last week..." He lied, hoping that his "anti-charm" was working.

"Wow... that's pretty lucky..." She said as she took a bite of her own meal.

Danny's fake smile became a frown.

"She can't be serious!..."He thought in frustration as he felt ridiculous with what he was doing but continued.

"Uh...have I ever told you that I have been collecting comics since I was a kid...or that I have listed every single one of my parent's inventions. I even label them by photo in alphabetical order..."He added.

"No, but you probably would have told me sooner or later..."Katie said in a patient voice, surprising the ghost boy.

"I thought for sure girls thought that was weird! Darn it!..."He thought, feeling frustrated.

He tried to act as lame as possible but nothing worked.

Instead, the blonde girl patiently listened to everything he said, wiped his cheek with a napkin when he had some stains from his sloppy eating and even complemented on his bowling skills that he bragged about them again.

It was like Katie literally didn't mind as she sat across him, still as interested in him as ever.

"Uh...so I also watched a lot of giant robot anime and marathon Kaiju films..."Danny said quickly, hoping that would dissuade her.

Unfortunately, it didn't and his so-called girlfriend gave him flirty eyes and a loving look, no sign losing interest.

"Well, we should see if there is anything like that playing the next time we go to the movies..."The girls said, not dissuaded at all.

The ghost boy mentally groaned as the girl still seems to be as much in love as ever, no sign of anger, resentment or desire to leave at all.

"Oh, Danny..."Katie giggled in amusement, much to the ghost boy's dismay.

"Darn it. It didn't work..."He thought in frustration as his "date" continued.

On Sunday

Last night, Danny had gone home in disappointment since all of his attempts to get Katie to dump him ended in failure and with the blonde girl still his girlfriend...unfortunately.

The next day was no different in results, it seems.

Danny had taken Katie to the roller rink, thinking it would be a good place for a short date... or at least tire the blonde girl, which might prevent her from transforming if she got mad.

However, as soon as they got there, many people got paired up as the rink announcer started to speak.

"Welcome to the Amity Park Retro Rink!..." The announcer said on the horn. "Now everybody get a partner, cause it's couple's night!..."He announced as heart shape lights and romantic music began to play.

Danny gulped, realizing his mistake.

"Oh no..."He said.

"Oooooh! Let's dance!..."Katie cooed, dragging the boy to get their pair of skates.

Katie managed to get the both of them a twin pair of roller skates so that they could match, while the ghost boy wondered how he got in this predicament.

Danny looked around as he got the skates on. Usually with his luck, a ghost would attack by now but it seemed life thought this would be worse as no ghosts appeared.

Strange, they usually love to pester people at these events.

"Danny..."Katie cooed. She came from behind with her roller blades on, placing a kiss on his cheek.

"Let's dance..."She said as she took him by the hand.

The ghost boy froze, only moving being dragged to the rink. His body had not moved of its own free will. Katie and Danny's "dance" consisted of the latter being tossed around by the former like a rag doll.

"How did I get myself into this mess?!..."Danny thought as he was being held tightly by his date.

Katie giggled as they kept moving to the groove of the music...and it would have continued until the song ended.

"Darn, was hoping for more..."Katie said as they took a quick breather break.

"Thank goodness, I'm getting tired..."Danny said quietly, glad that it was over.

Unfortunately, Murphy's law had other plans and another song played, a slow one.

Katie, not sensing Danny's distress, just kept smiling and grabbed him again for another round, much to the dismay of the ghost boy.

"Ohh, I love this song! Come on, Danny..."Katie said as she continued to twirl around her date.

"How is she not tired yet?!..."Danny thought in dismay as he was being moves around like a rag doll again.

If this was how she danced, he dreaded the up coming school dance that was days away.

Later

After the roller skating rink, Danny needed a moment to himself, telling Katie that he needed to use the restroom. However, in reality, he just wanted to take a break from all things Katie.

"I hope that all that dancing has made her want to head home early..."Danny thought, his anxiety almost reaching its peak.

It did not as the blonde girl had energy like a sport car on a full tank of gas... and she was nowhere near empty.

"Oh, Danny..."Katie's voice called in longing.

Danny flinched but he knew that he can't hide in the restroom forever...no matter how much he might want to.

"I better not keep her waiting too long or this place becomes a mausoleum..."He muttered as he reluctantly went back to the girlfriend he wanted gone to continue their date.

All the while, facing the music that was Katie's affection.

End Of Flashback

Present Time

"I can't believe I failed at getting dumped throughout the entire weekend. I even tried acting like Tucker does around girls and she still wouldn't leave me alone!..."Danny thought in disbelief.

He didn't think getting dumped would be so hard.

The whole weekend was filled with failed attempts at being dumped, failed attempts to learn more of her powers (and maybe a way to stop them) and even worse, having to go through the many times she dragged him someplace to smother him with more of her kisses and obsessive affection.

Whenever she wasn't clinging to him in public, she'd make him go to some closet or corner and pretty much make him play tonsil hockey with her for a REALLY long time.

It was too much!

Not to mention the countless lipstick markings left as proof of her displays of affection, ones that always took him a while to wipe off to avoid people seeing them.

At this point, he'd shower for hours just so his skin could feel free again.

Free from an obsessive, monster-turning...and admittedly cute and really sweet, but crazy, lovesick girl.

"No...No! Don't get distracted by her being pretty again, remember her powers and what she can do..."The ghost boy thought as Katie began to ask him something.

"So, Danny? Are you free tomorrow?..."Katie asked, almost looking shy which threw the boy off guard.

"Uh... why?..."Danny asked hesitantly.

"My cousin Tiffany is visiting with her husband... and I need a distraction..." Katie said with a clear sound of disgust and tiredness in her voice, to Danny's surprise.

"Why am I sensing that you'd rather be anywhere else?..." He asked.

"That's because I really would rather be anywhere else. I'm kind of required to do this... so I need someone there. Please?..."The blonde girl asked as she fluttered her eyelashes.

Danny didn't want to do this but knew the risk if he said no.

"If I don't... she might lose her temper and... Amity Park would be in danger..."He thought.

Seeing no way out of it, the ghost boy sighed and nodded.

Katie smiled happily.

"Oh thank you, Danny! It'll so less frustrating with you there..."Katie said before kissing him on the cheek again.

"Something tells me that I might regret this decision later, but it's too late now..."The ghost boy thought as he spotted his friends up ahead and quickly excused himself to go talk with them.

Once there, he sped up to catch up with them, needing to go them a status report of the recent development...and needing an excuse to get away from Katie for the moment.

"Hey guys..."Danny said.

"I see that Katie is still glued to your arm, meaning that she hasn't dumped you yet..."Sam said with her arms crossed.

"It's not as easy as Tucker makes it out to be. She either doesn't see it or is actively ignores it..."Danny insisted, while his male friend frowned at how his moves did what he wishes they intended but for the wrong people.

He got over it when he recalled the situation before asking the following question.

"So, what now? Does we need to call in some backup?..."Tucker asked.

"No, not yet..."Danny said. "In addition, she invited me to her house for dinner tomorrow night. Apparently, she has relatives coming over and she wants to show me off..."He muttered.

"What?! That's super risky. Who knows if anyone else in that crazy family turns into rage monsters?..."Sam said

"Hey, I'm going to make sure that she doesn't get mad and destroy all of Amity Park. Besides, maybe this can help me learn more about her powers...and maybe a way to finally get dumped or have her family disapprove of me. I already met them but maybe I can convince them that I'm no good for their daughter..."He whispered to them.

Sam and Tucker thought about it and weren't too sure

"I don't know Danny... this all still seems a little too risky to me..."Sam said, not sure about the idea.

"Relax Sam, I'm just going to go and check to see if I can find out anything else from the rest of her family..."Danny said.

"Oh, Danny~..."Katie's voice called back for him, making the ghost boy flinch.

He saw her gesturing to several books and he knew that she'd want him to carry her books, which she made him do on Monday...and the rest of the week too.

"I gotta go. If I'm not back by patrol, call Frostbite and his tribe for some help dealing with a rampaging teenage monster..."He muttered as he left.

The ghost boy then went to Katie and found himself carrying her belongings, looking miserable to everyone but her.

"I just know that this is all going to end terribly..."Sam muttered.

"Chill Sam. We've dealt with worse things then this before and I'm sure that things will work out. However, in case it doesn't, I've thought up some ideas..."Tucker said, as he was about to explain him new plan he he just thought up.

"Like what?..."The goth had to ask.

"Like maybe Danny has to be kidnapped by a ghost for until graduation..."He suggested and Sam glared at him.

"The sad part is... that might actually work..." She had to admit, wondering how to actually get Danny out of this one.

The bell rang and the teens slowly got up, leaving for their lockers, anxious of what might come tomorrow night.
