Goin' KABOOM!

Chapter 29: Dinner with the Kabooms: Lunch and A Show

Sam had just gotten off the phone with Danny and wasn't happy.

Sure, school was out for the day...due to a bizarre anvil fight that is still confusing her.

"Okay, I know ghosts can be chaotic but that one was just too weird. Same with the pudding..."She thought, shaking her head.

She'd look into that later, right now, she needed to clear her head and think.

The goth girl soon left her house due to there being no school today...and also to get away from her parents before they tried forcing one of the nightmarish pink dresses on her again.

However, what she and her friends are dealing with is arguably worse...and she is referring to what her best friend (and the boy she secretly is fond of) is dealing with.

The goth girl hated the situation. Not only did Danny have a girlfriend that was stuck to him like gum at the bottom on a desk, but he doesn't even like her either.

The only reason he hasn't outright told her to take a hike is due to her powers and because he hasn't figured out how to stop her without provoking a rampage or risking his secret.

"This is WAY worse than the time Kitty blackmailed him!..."Sam thought, hating this.

She wished that Katie and Danny never met, that she and her craziness never arrived to Amity Park but she couldn't speak it since Desiree might hear it and she leaned a long time ago that she'd just twist her words and make things even worse.

"Even though I can't imagine a worse situation, I rather not risk it..."She thought as she kept walking.

Suddenly, her phone started ringing and she saw that it was Tucker.

"Hey, Tucker..."Sam said.

"Hey, any word from Danny?..."Tucker asked.

"Not since this morning...I guess he's still venting some place or not..."She said.

"I guess he just wants to be emotionally prepared before tonight..."He said and Sam frowned.

"This whole thing is a disaster. Danny never should have asked Katie out in the first place..."Sam muttered.

"Uh...Sam...it was kinda the other way around..."Tucker reminded. "Besides, no one could have predicted that she was secretly a rampaging she-beast with lack of control..."He added, though he knew that the real reason she was mad was due to jealousy.

Sam frowned and sighed.

"I know but still, Danny doesn't even like her anymore. Tucker, you saw how he was like and how stressed out he's becoming. We need to get him away from her and fast..."Sam reminded.

"I know but my fake kidnapping idea still stands. I can even get the Tuckbot9000 and maybe dress it up as Danny..."He suggested.

"Let's leave that as a last resort for now, if we can't find anything better..."Sam said, feeling a migraine.

The two talked for a bit more before hanging up. Once done, the goth girl kept walking and trying to think up strategies to get that blonde time bomb out of Danny's hair.

"There's gotta be something. One way or the other, I'm gonna get that blonde freak away from him..."The goth thought with narrowed eyes as she kept walking and looking for ideas.

Later

At Chez Etoile

Danny wanted out as he found himself at Chez Etoile, a place he wouldn't go to even if he had the funds.

It was everything Katie said it was and the blonde girl looked like she was in heaven as she studied the interior.

She insisted that they wear something nicer than their casual clothes, so the ghost boy found himself wearing his school dance clothes, since that was as far as he would go.

Danny dreaded his current fate as the waiters took their order and left to the kitchen, leaving him alone with a lovesick blonde girl who was admiring the place's atmosphere.

"Oh Danny, this place is so romantic, I love it..."Katie gushed, not seeing he doesn't share her optimism.

"I'm gonna destroy Vlad for this!..."The fuming ghost boy thought while he chose to hide his anger.

"I'm glad you're having fun..."He muttered, doing his best to be polite.

"What I'd give for a ghost attack right now..."Danny thought in misery as he wasn't sure how much more of this he could take.

As they waited for the food, Katie started talking and admiring the boy from her spot. Prank or not, she was enjoying herself today, more so than usual.

"I just can't believe how lucky we are, that you managed to get us a reservation here..."Katie said as she gestured to the restaurant, overjoyed to be here.

"Yeah, lucky..."Danny snarked but she didn't notice.

She just felt happy to be here with him and in such a romantic place, like the world was turning in her favor.

"Definitely. I'm so glad that you did, can't wait to try the food here..."Katie said before sighing happily. "I really mean it..."She said sweetly as she placed her hand on

Danny felt a tiny jolt go up his spine from that touch and made him gulp.

"When she acts likes this, you can almost forget how scary she can be. Almost..."Danny thought as the waiter came and brought them some drinks.

Two diet colas for the teens who took their time as one of them enjoyed the atmosphere. The entire thing seemed suspicious to the ghost boy, but was distracted when his pretty blonde date started talking again.

"This is really amazing. I don't know how this could get any better..."Katie said as she took a sip of her drink.

"It's fine, I guess..."Danny said, silently hoping for things to settle down, but wondering what else Vlad could have cooked up.

Suddenly, the ghost boy felt something on his leg and blushed deeply when he felt it and noticed the coy look, almost intoxicated look on Katie's face as she smiled and leaned in. Danny nearly did a spit take but managed to stop himself and swallow his drink as Katie kept looking at him coyly.

"What does she think she's doing?!..."Danny thought as he felt an uncomfortable blush now.

She's done this before...though the last time he had been okay with it but now...it was too nerve wracking to handle...and they were a public restaurant!

"Uh...Katie..."Danny began, trying his best to reason with her.

"Hmmm, what is it, Sweetie?..."Katie hummed, still pretending to look innocent.

The ghost boy knew he shouldn't risk setting her off but he was trying to steel himself as he felt movement going up his leg and this isn't helping matters. He hoped she'll take mercy on him and that this wouldn't lead to anything else.

"Uh...Katie, I-I don't think..."He said, but couldn't find the exact words to politely stop her.

He gulped hard.

His fear of setting her off in a public place and his fears were getting to him.

Thankfully, Katie stopped being lovesick long enough to hear this and see his blushing face and looking flustered.

Katie raised a brow and shrugged, as she realized it might be too much.

"I guess he isn't ready for this step in public yet..."She thought before smiling.

"Okay, I guess we can continue where we left off some other time..."She said with a cutesy giggle as she pulled her foot away from his.

Danny sighed in relief, only he quickly got nervous again as Katie gave him a look he was all too familiar with.

"So Danny, are we going to order some sweet deserts while we're here?..."Katie said as she held her hand in his again, lightly brushing her fingers on his knuckles. "Or do we make our own sweet treats?..."She whispered.

Danny gulped and started sweating.

"Uh...uh...maybe we should..."He began while the blonde had a lovesick daze expression of her face.

"He's so cute whenever he gets flustered..."She thought, eager as she awaited his response.

Thankfully, another waiter arrived with the food and Danny sighed in relief.

"We should see if we have time after..."Danny said as he took a bite, mostly so he doesn't have to answer that.

Katie sighed and decided to eat as well.

"Okay, I'm pretty hungry..."She said as she took a bite of her chicken alfredo and hummed in delight.

"Wow, this rocks. I'm glad you got us in here..."She said as she enjoyed the meal.

"Yeah, not bad..."Danny said, being careful since he didn't actually get them a spot in here.

The blonde girl sighed happily, feeling lucky to be here before placing her silverware down for a second.

"It's more than just not bad. I gotta say, Danny. This relationship is the best I've ever had..."She said sweetly.

"Really? You don't say?..."Danny said as the blonde girl swooned.

"Yes, it's like a dream..."She said, looking at him adoringly. "You really are the sweetest boyfriend ever to do this..."Katie said as she held his hand.

"I didn't!..."Danny thought in frustration.

He wanted to tell her the truth but he didn't know how.

"This stinks but I can't just say, "Hey Katie, I'm glad you like this place but I didn't do this. My arch-enemy sent the flowers and got us the reservation just to torture me!..."The ghost boy thought sarcastically before he sighed.

He's caught between a rock and a hard place here, Katie thinks he set this up and it just endeared him more in her arms but if he tells the truth, she'd either A) not believe him or b) loose her temper.

He's stuck here.

He's already tried acting like Tucker, a slob, a major dork and none of those worked in getting her to lose interest.

He's running out of ideas!

"What am I going to do?..."He thought, trying to find some way out of this.

Katie, however, kept looking at him lovingly and sighed.

"This place really is so wonderful and so are you..."She said sweetly as she held his hand again. "You really are the best boyfriend ever..."She said with hearts in her eyes.

"Oh man!..."The ghost boy thought with a gulp.

Danny stuttered as he tried to word out his feelings, unaware that the flowers and dinner was not the only thing Vlad had set up. Ghostly vultures phased in from the ceiling invisibility as they flew near the lights.

"Alright...let's get to this..."The lead bird said.

They kept their distance to avoid being detected as they watched Danny. Within seconds, the birds knocked out the wiring above the lights, making the dining room darker.

"What's going on!?..."Danny wondered out loud.

To his dread, the lights went out one by one, darkening the room. Though only noon, the drapes covered much of the natural light. The ghost boy thought about escaping, but was stopped as waiters came by with an alternate source of light, lighting each candle upon placing them at the tables.

"Oh, Danny, isn't this romantic?..."Katie sautéed with a big smile.

"Very romantic..."Danny muttered sarcastically, having an inkling this was Vlad's doing.

"Was this your idea?..." Katie asks.

Danny would have face faulted if the candle light didn't show his expression.

"What? No. Why would I do this to the whole place?..."He said.

"Okay but still, this is great..."She said, looking lovesick.

"If you say so..."He muttered under his breath.

Unknown to him, the vultures saw this.

"I don't get it...why did the boss even want this?..."The vulture with sunglasses asked.

"Who cares? We did our part. Now let's get out of here before he senses us. My stories are going to start soon..."The leader vulture said, impatient.

"You and your soap operas. Ever since TV came along, that's all you watch in your spare time..."The third vulture commented.

"Just shut it already. Now let's go. I don't wanna miss if Freddy is the father instead of Will..."The lead vulture said impatiently.

The trio of vultures soon left, their job done and their presence no longer needed while their employer was closer than anyone thought.

Back with Danny

The ghost boy was still in a pickle.

He was in a romantic restaurant with a girl who terrifies him and the atmosphere just got MORE romantic. Almost cliché level romantic.

"If this keeps up, she'll think I'm proposing or something. I just wish that I could do something to stop this craziness...if only I could somehow control her temper...or...body...oh duh..."Danny thought as he realized that he technically did have a certain power that could do so.

One that he had forgotten about due to all the confusion, fear, panic and bewilderment from the last few days.

"If I wasn't a C student, I would have thought about this days ago..."He thought, feeling like an idiot while the blonde girl kept talking.

"Fair enough... but still..." Katie said as she closed her eyes and came in for a kiss.

Taking advantage of the poor lighting, Danny ducked and went intangible.

Okay... here we go... Never thought I'd get this close to her... He muttered.

He went under the table and started making his way into the girl's body, only to find himself pushed back and on the ground.

"Whoa!..." He went as his attempt had failed.

"Danny?..." Katie asked while he shook his head.

"What just happened?..." He asked himself.

"How did you fall?..."Katie asked as she helped him up.

"Good question..." Danny said.

It's weird, he never had trouble overshadowing before...like ever.

"Weird...maybe I didn't do it right..."He thought as he got up and figured it had been dark and he somehow did it the wrong way.

He sat back up and before Katie got into a kissy mood again, he suggested continuing eating their meals before they got cold. Katie pouted but then got an idea and grabbed the boy's spoon.

She scooped up a portion of the boy's meal and held it to his face, much like she had done a few days ago with the ice cream.

"Come on, say "Ahh"..."Katie said as she held the spoonful of the delectable dish right up to Danny's mouth.

"Again?..."He thought, wondering if Vlad was up to this somehow.

He didn't have much of a choice, so he opened slowly as he ate nervously. It was ironic how part of him had wanted something like this to happen, only now to dread it.

He gulped it down slowly, hoping that would satisfy the girl. However, now she apparently wants to swap roles in this.

"My turn..."Katie's voice was thick with sultry tones as she eyed the boy.

"She wants me to feed her now?!..."He thought before sighing.

"I guess I should have expected-...hey wait? Isn't that MY spoon she's giving?..."He thought as the blonde girl handed the utensil to Danny.

She looked expectantly and it was obvious what she wanted done.

Slowly, the ghost boy grabbed the silverware and held it to the girl's mouth. The girl gave a little moaned as she savored the act, giving the boy sultry eyes as she chewed.

"Mmmm~..."She let out, looking pleased and lovesick.

"That was even tastier..."she cooed. "Maybe it was because we used your spoon..."She said, winking.

Danny felt his eye twitch and his feet ready to go after that.

"Uh...I'm gonna go for a walk to...stretch my legs..."Danny lied quick, wanting to get out of here before anything else happened.

Katie was surprised but smiled. Danny wondered why though.

"Sure...a walk sounds nice and this place does have a beautiful garden where couples can be alone and take romantic strolls together..."Katie said, thinking he wanted some more privacy.

"Wait, it does?!..."Danny thought and before he could react, Katie grabbed him by his hand and dragged him to where the garden was.

Like she said, it was a beautiful, romantic looking garden installed on the roof of the building and it even had a fountain with statues of cupid angels on them. The added elevation created a more amorous atmosphere.

They were also the only ones here right now, which the blonde girl had been counting on.

This is perfect..."Katie said, admiring the garden.

"This is a nightmare that won't end..."Danny muttered silently. "But when it does, I am so gonna get back at Vlad...once I know how..."He thought, worried about first getting away from Katie.

Katie, however, had other things in mind.

She just saw the perfect date that she was having with the ghost boy...and she was going to do everything she could to make it better than her dreams.

Katie turned to the dark haired boy to continue where they left off.

"Now... where were we?..." She asks.

Danny knew that look she was giving him, it had make-out written all over it. And he was definitely not in the mood for that, especially if Vlad and his birds were going to make it worse.

"Oh man, she has that look again!..."He thought, worried.

Danny looked around and tried to find an escape...or a distraction...or anything, really.

"Hey, what's that?..."Danny said, pointing in the other direction. "Is that your dad?..."He said quickly.

Katie turned around, looking for said person. But all she saw was the usual sight of Amity Park. She thought the person was far away and squinted, giving Danny ample time to make an escape.

"Well, it's now or never..."He thought as he phase into her and overshadow the girl again.

He hoped that by doing so, he could get her away from here and to a place where she can't cause any more damage and then...work on the next step of his plan as soon as he figured it out.

He'll have time.

Or so he thought.

The moment the intangible ghost boy flew into the girl, it had the same results as the last time. He bounced back, canceling out his ghost powers, rubbing his head.

"Was that a mosquito?..."Katie swatted at the back of her head. "I hate those things..."

She then turned to her boyfriend, who smiled nervously.

"I don't see him..."Katie said, looking confused.

"My mistake..must have been someone else..."Danny lied, forcing a fake smile on his face while he was screaming in both confusion and frustration

"I CAN'T EVEN OVERSHADOW HER!? THIS JUST GOT WORSE! HOW IS THAT EVEN PHYSICALLY OR SCIENTIFICALLY POSSIBLE!?..."He thought, baffled by this negative development.

Katie, being oblivious to this, just shrugged and went back to her boyfriend, trying to be romantic with him again.

"So...where were we just now?..."Katie said as she did the walking man on his chest and Danny gulped, sensing he was in danger again.

"Think fast, think fast, think fast!..."Danny thought, trying to get some space between him and her before she tries getting to first base with him again.

An idea hit him and he went for it.

"Uh, tell you what. Let me check and see if that was someone else I know, the guy I saw from earlier. Be right back..." He said, going away quickly.

Katie rose an eyebrow and was surprised by his sudden departure.

"Who could be so important to interrupt such a wonderful date?..." She thought out loud.

The blonde girl sighed bitterly at this interruption.

She loves him very much, she knows she does but she has been waiting for the chance to make out with him since they haven't truly done that since they got here.

She also wanted to show him just how much she appreciated those beautiful flowers and the wonderful date he got them at this amazing restaurant. She had wanted to just show appreciation since they got in and had to restrain a bit due to being in public but she can't wait anymore.

She just had to have him in her arms right now.

"Danny..."Katie said wistfully but he had been so fast out of here, it made her lose patience.

She frowned impatiently.

"I don't care who that was, this is our time. Why is this so important all of a sudden?..."She asked out loud as she went to look for him, wanting to show affection.

Katie lost any will to wait, she wants to kiss her precious, adorable boyfriend and share their love and she wants to do that NOW!

The blonde girl went after him, not realizing someone else was watching them.

Meanwhile

Danny found a spot to morph and go through the ceiling, sighing in relief.

"Finally..." He muttered.

"Leaving your date so soon? Some hero..." Vlad mocked him.

Danny turned around, seeing his archenemy present.

"PLASMIUS?!..."Danny shouted.

"Were you expecting Bugs Bunny or something?..."Vlad mocked as grinned.

Danny sent him a furious glare and responded by firing an ecto blast at him, one the older ghost dodge.

"Now, how rude. Is that any way to greet a family friend who just stopped by to chat?..."Vlad faux chided.

"Can it, I know what you had been doing and that it's your fault I'm even stuck here! Keep out of my dating life!..."Danny yelled at him again as he fired.

Unfortunately, Vlad dodged and deflected them as he kept taunting his younger foe.

"Now Daniel. Temper, temper. That's not exactly a very attractive feature, especially after someone had been generous enough to get you a reservation at the town's most exclusive restaurant. I would have figured your parents taught you better manners than this..."Vlad said, wagging his finger mockingly.

The ghost boy fumed in anger and snapped.

"WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?! DO YOU HAVE NO OTHER PLANS TO STEAL MY MOM TO GET BACK TO?!..."Danny yelled.

"Why little badger, you should thank me. After all, what teenage boy wouldn't want a pretty blonde girl hovering over them 24/7..."Vlad mocked.

Danny growled.

"I know that you know the real reason why?! So knock it off, before we both regret making a mistake..."He shouted, furious over what he's put him through.

"I doubt dear Katie would give you a chance to do so..."Vlad scoffed while the teenager fumed angrily.

"Your playing with fire this time Vlad. Just don't forget that I warned you first..."Danny shouted.

"What is he talking about?..."The older halfa mused.

Vlad was curious to what he meant but decided he didn't care. He only saw the girl as a means to distract Danny and wanted to fully exploit it.

"I see no problem, as you young folks say, hooking you up..."Vlad said, not caring so long as she kept him busy.

Plus, he was having fun be a toxic-love matchmaker for Danny, knowing full well that the boy did not want things to continue with her.

Danny growled at that.

"This is even worse than when we did that prank war!..."He thought, furious with this Fruitloop's sneaky and manipulative antics

"Danny..."Katie's voice called.

Vlad heard this and smirked.

"Hmm..it seems that your new girlfriend is looking for you, Little Badger. You better not keep her waiting, Romeo..."Vlad said mockingly.

"This isn't over..."Danny said, attempting to attack.

Unfortunately, Vlad was quicker as Danny felt himself being zapped by Vlad's device and forced into his human form while Vlad merely chuckled as they floated in the air.

"W-What?..."Danny exclaimed and hissed as he looked at himself in his human form, unable to morph while he was in his arch-enemy's grasp.

"Impressive isn't it. I made some modifications for the Plasmius Maximums. Guaranteed to short-circuit powers for up to six hours, rather than three..."Vlad explained, with an antagonistic grin plastered on his face.

"WHAT?!..."Danny exclaimed in horror, realizing he had no way to avoid Katie now...or deal with her rampages if she morphs.

"Now, let's get you ready for dear Katie..."Vlad said as he threw Danny.

"Wait, you don't know what you're doing!..."The ghost boy shouted but was ignored as he was throw from several feet above.

Danny hit the ground hard and face first.

"Plas...mius..."Danny said as he lost consciousness.

The boy laid there completely blacked out while Katie arrived before she gasped when she finally found him like this.

"Danny!..."Katie exclaimed in worry as she ran to him, cradling him in her arms.

"Oh, poor baby. What happened?!..."She exclaimed as she slapped his face a little to wake him up but no reaction.

The blonde girl did a quick examination of him and was relieved that he was still breathing. He was just knocked out cold somehow.

"Oh boy, I can't believe this happened..."She said, worried for his fate. "I'd better take him to my house and nurse back to health before he gets worse..."Katie said in concern.

Thankfully, her house is close by and she can carry him. Maybe even call his parents if needed.

The blonde girl wasted no time and began to help him.

"Don't worry, I got you..."Katie said as she lifted the unconscious boy up and began carrying him bridal style.

She soon kept going and didn't see who watched from several feet above.

Vlad saw Katie carry Danny away and smirked to himself, pleased that his plan worked so far.

"Finally, now while she keeps him busy, I can go back to my plans without interference..."Vlad said as he switched his display to his internet browser.

He looked up his spy bug watching the two from afar and smirked more.

"Daniel will certainly have his hands full with her...especially after she receives another one of "his" gifts..."He thought wickedly, as he rubbed his hands together.

The evil half ghost got up, proud of himself, as he went to prepare the next step of his plans.

Plans that involves a certain new beast in Amity Park and to capture it for his own use.

"Things are unraveling quite well so far and soon, the Observants and Daniel won't be able to stop me til it's too late!..."Vlad thought wickedly.

The evil half ghost laughed before he flew away, intent to carry out his plans.

Oh boy.
