Goin' KABOOM!
Chapter 34: An Uneasy Walk
Danny and Katie had just walked out the door together and the ghost boy had a determined look on his face.
"Now or never..." Danny thought.
"Katie... I need to-..."He got interrupted by the blonde again, but for different reasons than usual.
"FINALLY!..." Katie groaned. "I thought I was gonna lose it in there. Tiffany is still as big of a pain as ever..."She muttered.
Danny heard this and couldn't help but make a comment.
"I take it you and your cousin don't get along that often?..."He asked, stating the obvious.
He already knew the answer but couldn't help himself.
"No... we don't. Do you have this issue with your cousin?..."She asked.
"No... Danielle and I are like brother and sister..."Danny said.
"We kind of are, now that I think about it..." He thought before realizing he gave a little too much information to her.
"Danielle? Your name is Daniel and she's Danielle? Your dads aren't very creative at names..." Katie pointed out.
"Yeah... her... dad..." He said, hating calling Vlad that. "... isn't very creative." He muttered.
"I'll say..."Katie said.
Thankfully, she didn't seem that keen to learn more and left it at that.
She then that they had walked a good distance away from her house, especially her cousin.
"Hmm...we have wondered a little far from the house..."She thought, getting ideas.
"Well... in any case... we're alone now..." She said, smirking.
Danny panicked when he realized what she just implied and tried to change the subject.
"Uh...yeah...we...uh...probably should get that tea before they close the store..."Danny said quickly as he quickly picked up the pace.
Katie was surprised by his distance and huffed before she went after him.
"Danny wait, the store closes at 11. We have plenty of time..."She said as she tried to keep up with him.
"I know but...your mom might get suspicious and this town's got ghosts, ya know..."He said, using that as his excuse.
Katie pouted, but understood his reasoning and complied...for now. They went to the store together, unaware they are being followed.
"There they go, come on..."Sam ordered as they maintained a distance while they followed them.
"This is so wrong..."Jazz muttered.
"You said it..."Tucker muttered as they hurried, kept a close distance with the loony blonde and the ghost boy.
Later
After arriving to the mini-mart and getting what they needed, the two teens stepped out. Katie even called her mom on her cell phone, letting her know that they got what she asked for.
"Yeah, Mom. We got the tea. We'll be back as soon as we can..."Katie said, winking at Danny as she wanted to take her time.
Danny didn't like that but watched as she finished her phone call.
"Yeah...alright...I love you too, bye..."Katie said, using a sweet tone as she hung up.
All the while, Danny sighed.
"Alright, managed to avoid any kiss attack from her so far...still...I gotta try and speed this up. I still gotta do it in a place where they're aren't any people..."He thought.
He knew of one place, an abandoned hot dog place that has been closed for years. He knew that no one would be there, especially at this hour.
"Hey Katie...uh...I think I know a short cut to your place..."Danny lied quickly.
"Huh? Really?..."Katie asked.
Danny nodded quickly.
"Yeah...uh... it'll us back in half the time and the sooner we get this back to your mom, the sooner she won't be waiting..."He said, grinning nervously as he tried to convince her.
Katie, oblivious of his intentions, smiled and while she wanted to take her time with Danny, not getting constant calls from her mother has its perks too.
"Okay...lead the way, Sweetie..."She said.
"Finally, she listens..."He thought, hoping things were going his way for once and that this would speed things up.
Thinking they were on the same page with one another, they made their way to supposed short cut. Little did he know, Katie had her own plans she wanted to speed up.
10 minutes later
Danny soon lead Katie to a place that he knew that no one would be at this hour. Spectral Avenue, which also happens to be one of the places in town that hardly anything ever happens.
Katie soon saw that they were in an empty street with no one around.
"Some shortcut…"Katie commented, looking at all the buildings. "I haven't been in this part of town yet…"She added.
"Really? This is a nice street. You should check it out sometime…"Danny said, lying through his teeth.
Katie soon saw that they were in an empty street with no one around and all the buildings were closed. Some seemed like they haven't been open for years
The girl wondered about that, noticing a condemned restaurant.
"Jaleel's Chili Dogs?..." Katie asked as she read the sign on the abandoned hot dog place they just passed by.
"Yeah, it was hit in the 90's before three more places called Jason's, Roger's and Ben's showed up. I think the last two are still open, with Jason's being more of one of those virtual chains." Danny explained as they kept walking down this short-cut.
He was glad that no one was here but before he could do anything, the blonde girl spoke.
"Huh, I see. So, I take it this isn't really a shortcut?..." Katie asked in a knowing tone.
Danny blinked in confusion as he turned to her with a blank face.
"Huh?..."He said as the blonde girl just smiled with a girlish giggle.
"I may not have grown up here, Danny, but I at least know how far we are from my house. I take it there's another reason that we're here..." She said, looking at him with flirty eyes and twirled a piece of her hair.
Danny gulped and now realized just what his intentions looked like to Katie.
"I...uh...well...y-you see..."He said as he stepped back while the girl leaned forward as she move up.
To his horror, she began to stare with love-struck eyes, as if she came to her own conclusion...one that he suspects is wrong.
The ghost boy mentally cursed himself for not counting how Katie can misinterpret actions. Right now, he wished for a ghost to show up, just for a distraction.
No such luck as the lovesick blonde kept coming on to him.
"So, Danny..."Katie fluttered her eyelashes as she eyed the ghost boy with hearts. "What is it you want to talk about?..."She said, her tone filled with mischief and teenage hormones.
Danny gulped, knowing where the girl's mind was heading, and steeled his nerves as he stood up straight.
"K-Katie...listen, the reason I brought you here was..."He stammered.
"Was..."Katie leaned down, seemingly drawing the question for the boy to answer.
He gulped but tried to press forward.
"W-was to tell you…"He said, trying to regain his nerve and not let her obsession freak him out too much.
"Yes? You want to tell me something…important?…"She asked in a teasing way.
Danny nodded.
"Yeah... and I need to-..."He began but was cut off when the blonde smiled widely at him.
"Me too!..." Katie said before wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Oh man!..."Danny thought in dread as she planted a kiss on his cheek.
"Oh... you don't know how hard it was not to do this..." She said with a happy sigh as she traced more kisses on his face.
"Katie, please control yourself!..."Danny pleaded as the blonde girl kept smothering him in kisses.
"I can't help it, you're so adorable~..."Katie said passionately as she continued her smooches, unaware that they were being watched.
With Sam, Tucker and Jazz
They had been following the "couple" and had been thinking of ways to help their friend/brother out, only to witness something upsetting.
"What the heck does she think she's doing to my brother?!..."Jazz said, her overprotective instincts acting up.
"I don't know whether to pity Danny...or envy him..."Tucker couldn't help but comment, only to be smacked by Sam.
"Pity, obviously!..."Sam said, nearly breaking the binoculars in half.
"That is not what I was hoping to see..." Jazz admitted, wanting to do something to help but she knew she can't give away their location.
They saw how miserable Danny looked but Katie seemed blissfully oblivious as she continued assaulting his face with her lips.
"Please.. stop! I have to say something!..." He said as he tried to avoid her lips covering his.
Katie seemed surprise and pouted a bit.
"Can't it wait?..." She asks, wanting to kiss his lips.
"No!..." Danny said sternly, wanting to end this now.
Katie seemed surprise by this reaction, before she pouted and sighed.
"Oh, okay..." She said with a groan and pulled away. "This better be quick..."She said impatiently, wanting to go back to making out with him.
"Is this ALL she thinks about?!..."He thought, upset before remembering what he has to do.
He had to do it now and get it over with.
"Katie. This is very important. It's something I've been trying to tell you for a while and it's NOT what you think it is..."He said, looking serious.
Katie dropped her impatient look and seemed curious.
"Well, what is it?..."She asked, wondering why he's like this now.
Danny sighed as he steeled himself.
"It's-..."Before he could say finish, an explosion was suddenly heard...a very loud one.
KABOOM!
"What the!..."Danny exclaimed in shock and even Katie was shocked by the loud sound.
"Huh?..."Katie wondered in confusion.
All the while, the "spies" were just as startled by the sudden explosion.
"What was that?!..."Sam asked from her hiding spot.
They heard that is came in the direction of a familiar street...the one where Katie's house is near.
"It sounds like it came from Katie's neighborhood..."Jazz said, pointing in that direction.
"Oh man, this can't be good..."Tucker said, stating the obvious.
"But wait, if Katie's here..." Sam started before shock hit her. "Then what caused it?..."She questioned out-loud.
Sam, Tucker, and Jazz went wide-eye as they realized a new threat had entered. They soon saw Danny running in the direction of the explosion with Katie right behind him.
"We need to go there, now!…"Jazz screamed.
"Don't have to tell me twice!…"Tucker said.
The trio dropped their little spy act and ran in the direction of the noise, just like Danny did. The worst was not over as any explosion outside the Fenton household was a VERY bad sign in this town.
Things were going out of control, and it wasn't just Katie's hormones.
At Katie's house
Danny and Katie soon ran back to her neighborhood...or rather, she was following her crush.
"Danny, what's wrong?..."She asked as she went after him.
Danny didn't answer her as they made it to her house and saw the damage. The door was blown off it's hinges, some windows were broken and it looked like it has seen better days.
"Oh man, what happened here?!..."He asked out-loud.
Katie blinked, wondering what he meant as he went inside. He saw that there was some damage inside but the house is still standing. What surprised him was the Katie's family was still inside...acting funny.
"Oh, I see that you two came back..."Mr. Kaboom said as he still looked at his newspaper.
"Did you get the tea?..."Mrs. Kaboom asked as she did some cleaning to her damaged done.
Danny only nodded mutely before blinking.
"What...what the heck did all this?!..."He asked out loud.
"Hmm?..."Mrs. Kaboom let out, as if she didn't understand the question.
"Did a ghost or something came here? What's going on?..."He asked, not liking this.
"Oh, uh...just a little misunderstanding..."Mrs. Kaboom said quickly as she went back to cleaning, as if nothing major had happened.
Danny was at a lost for words, only to see Tiffany was there with Mitch, looking upset about something. As Tiffany continued storming back and forth, she was losing patience before Mitch followed her.
"I can't believe that you forgot to get the nice brand of cupcake I like that I asked you to get an hour ago!..."She said, looking mad about something.
"But Honey-pie, I told you before that I meant to go buy some more but most of the store run out. I ordered some online, there's no need to be unreasonable about it..."Mitch tried but Tiffany had her attention on him and seemed peeved.
"What the..."Danny whispered as he saw her in a terrifying temper rise.
"Unreasonable? I'm not being UNREASONABLE!..."Tiffany said in a low voice as the glow in her eyes continued and the ground started shaking again.
"Here we go again..."Mrs. Kaboom mumbled as the rest of the family put on army helmets and tried to hide.
However, Mitch kept trying to appease his wife, kept a shaky back as he tried reasoning with her.
"N-N-Now...Turtle Dumpling...don't be upset. I made a special delivery online the moment I found out..."Mitch stammered nervously, his clothes soaked in sweat.
"WHY DID IT TAKE YOU SO LONG THEN?!..." Tiffany snarled as the ground was still shaking and her eyes were still glowing.
Danny felt ready to do something and go ghost to handle this, but Mitch spoke up.
"I... didn't want to risk making a mistake and getting the wrong one, my love..."He said nervously, keeping a smile on his face.
Danny was dumbstruck as the shaking suddenly stopped and Tiffany then stopped being angry. She was now smiling of all things.
"Aww... such a gentleman... okay. Sorry for the snapping..."Tiffany said in a bizarrely sweet voice as she hugged him.
"Thank goodness..."Mitch said as he felt his knees give out.
Danny, however, know new that his worries from earlier have been confirmed.
"She's just like Katie..." Danny said in a whisper.
"Well, i-it runs in the family... my side, at least..." Mr Kaboom, who had been wearing an army helmet as he read the paper, said suddenly.
Danny did a double take at that.
"Huh? This is normal for you?..."Danny asked, getting a bad feeling about this.
"Kind of..."He answered, in a way that's more like he wants to drop the subject.
"Kind of?..."Danny asked, not liking the sound of this.
Before he could ask more, Katie went to him.
"Danny, what's wrong?..."She asked, sounding oblivious.
"Do you not see how your own house looks like right now?..."He asked, not able to stop himself.
Katie blinked and looked around.
"The houses around here get attacked and wrecked by ghosts on a daily basis, one must've done something here. Plus, it's not as bad as it used to look back in Acmeville..."She shrugged, not seeing it as a big deal.
Danny sent her an appalled look. His throat choked on his words, rasping as he tried to make a sound.
"I…wouldn't put so much thought into it..."Mr. Kaboom said to Danny. It seemed like the man suspected what the boy was thinking but didn't say anymore.
"Did you say something, Daddy?..." Katie asked, causing her father to flinch.
"NOPE! I mean... no, Princess..."He said nervously, which Danny noticed.
Before he could comment on it, Tiffany got impatient again.
"Excuse me! Where's the milk for my dessert!..." Tiffany snapped, while her husband tried to calm her down again.
"Katie... why not... go get some milk from the kitchen?..." Mrs. Kaboom suggested, still cleaning.
Katie rolled her eyes at that, crossing her arms.
"I just got home, Mother..."She said, only wanting to be alone with her boyfriend again.
Before could give an answer to her daughter, she sent the boy a flirty smile, making him sweat in dread. His patience had finally reached it's limit.
Danny couldn't take it anymore, he felt like he was going to explode from all of this zaniness. They were all acting as if what had just happened was NORMAL and ACCEPTABLE. He couldn't take much more of this wackiness.
"I gotta get out of here before all this crazy makes me a full ghost..."He thought, almost about to rip his hair out.
He noticed Katie staring at him, as if pondering how to avoid getting out of her task and get him alone again. The ghost boy did NOT want that, to say the least and before she could say anything, he interjected.
"Uh, I just remembered that it's getting late and I promised to help my sister out with something. I need to get home now..."Danny lied, making an excuse to get out of here.
Before Katie could answer, he darted out the door, desperate to get out of here.
"Thanks again for inviting me, the food was delicious but I better get home. I have a curfew to keep. It was nice meeting you all. See ya!..."Danny lied as he jetted out of the room, not giving the blonde girl a word in edge wise.
Katie and her family blinked at his hasty retreat, almost leaving a smoke trail from his run. The blonde teenager soon snapped out of it once she realized that the boy she likes is gone now...away from her and leaving her behind with her family, especially her cousin.
"Danny!..."Katie called but he was already out of the door and gone.
"What's his problem?..."Tinker asked, confused.
Tiffany, now calmer, saw this and scoffed.
"I guess he just got bored with Katie already..."She said as she looked at her nails, while her husband groaned.
Katie heard this and her frustration and patience reached it's peak.
She thought that her boyfriend had left because of her cousin's rudeness. That, combined with Katie's patience running thin due to her cousin's obnoxious behavior and snark comments, had made the blonde girl reach her limit.
"That egomaniac! She ruins everything!..." Katie snarled as her face became red and steam came out of her ears.
She then morphed, scaring her family as they knew what is about to happen now.
"Not again!..."Her mother groaned as her daughter began one of her infamous tantrums.
"TIFFANY!..." Monster Katie shouts in a guttural voice as she went after her.
Outside
Danny had run outside and didn't bother looking back.
Danny had run outside as fast as possible, breathing heavily almost like he had just ran a marathon. He didn't think of going ghost from all the craziness that he had just experienced. The insanity that was the dinner was enough to send him over the edge, and he fights ghosts.
He just wanted to put as much distance between himself and Katie and her family as possible right now.
"They're all insane, just like her..."He thought, glad to be out of there and that his face wasn't smothered with lipstick again.
He then saw his friends and sister who ran up to him. They were only thing that calmed him down to stop.
"Guys, I am so glad you're here!..."He said, happy to see them.
"Something tells me you mean that more than ever..."Sam said, not mentioning that she and the others had been spying on him.
"Are you okay, dude?..."Tucker asked.
Danny sent him an "are you kidding me look?", which Tucker noticed and instantly regretted his question.
"Sorry, standard question..."He said.
"It's fine, I just needed to get out of the crazy place..."He said, just happy to be out of that mad house.
"It was that bad?..."Jazz asked, already having an idea on what he must be feeling right now.
Before Danny could answer, they suddenly heard another explosion, crashing and yelling coming from the house.
"TIFFANY!..."Was also heard.
Danny knew what this meant.
"Please let it NOT be what I think it is..."He muttered, slowly turning to see the house wrecked again.
He ran to the very house he just ran away from, which was exactly where the source of the noise was, while the others followed him. They soon saw that the house suddenly burst, reveal two giant monsters, about to engage in a brawl.
"YOU RUIN EVERYTHING!..."Monster Katie yelled.
"NO, YOU DO!..."Monster Tiffany yelled, grabbing the other girl monster by the shoulders and about to fight with her.
"I was afraid of this!..."Danny grumbled as he tried to find a place to go ghost.
During this time, Sam, Tucker and Jazz's jaw dropped as they witness the petite looking blonde had become a ten foot tall, hulking beast creature on a rampage with her cousin.
"Oh my gosh!..."Sam said in shock.
"Suddenly, I'm not envious anymore..."Tucker said, looking freaked out.
"I can't believe that's what's been frenching my brother!..."Jazz said, rubbing her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things.
The trio didn't know what to do. On the one hand, they wanted to give backup, but on the other hand, they were utterly unprepared for such a predicament.
They just stood there as the two she-beasts fought in a brutal way.
"So... all in favor of getting a little more distance and figuring out a new plan?..." Tucker asked.
"I!..." Sam and Jazz went in unison as the four tried to get out of there until they could some up with a better plan.
With Danny
The ghost boy had hidden behind a nearby tree and watched from afar. He stared in shock as he saw the cousins brawl. His would have been a fun fight it watch if it wasn't real.
"Gotta find somewhere to go ghost…"Danny muttered, looking around for a spot but it was hard to find privacy when everyone else was.
Suddenly, he found what he was looking for. A nearby closet on the side of the garage.
"Bingo..."He said as he ran inside.
Once he locked the door, he quickly changed forms.
"Next time... I am SO gonna play sick..."He muttered as he went to end this cat-fight, once and for all.
