Dr Bailey walks into Meredith's hospital room to see her sleeping on top of Cristina. Meredith's head is resting on top of Cristina's chest with her arm around her waist.
Cristina quickly wipes away her tears so Bailey doesn't see them. "She cries herself to sleep. She's really scared, Bailey. And I'm scared too. I can't lose my person. We have to save her."
"Poor thing. She's just getting worse. I hate this so much. I'm doing everything I can to save her. I'm not letting her go without a fight." Bailey says.
Meredith whimpers in her sleep. Cristina rubs Meredith's back and she quiets down.
"Bailey, it's spread more! How are we going to save her?! You better have a plan!"
Bailey nods. "I do. Her chemo is being changed to IL-2. And instead of it being three days a week it'll now be every single day. Each treatment will be six hours instead of four. It's going to be incredibly hard on her and take a big toll out of her body but if we want to have a chance at saving her then we have to do this."
Cristina looks down at a sleeping Meredith. "She's going to be even sicker than she's already been. How much more of this can she take?"
"I don't know but I hope she continues fighting. We need her. I told Derek the new treatment plan already and he's on board. He agrees with whatever needs to be done to save her."
Just then Meredith wakes up. She sees Dr Bailey standing there. She doesn't have any energy to move her body so she continues laying on Cristina.
Dr Bailey notices that Meredith has opened her eyes. "Hi Meredith. How are you feeling sweetie?"
"I don't feel good." She whispers. "My head really hurts. And I'm really nauseous."
"Let me get you some pain meds. I'll be right back." Dr Bailey knows the headache and nausea are symptoms of the cancer being in her central nervous system now.
Dr Bailey returns with some pain meds and attaches it to Meredith's IV.
"When can I go home?" Meredith asks weakly.
"Oh sweetie, you're not going home. I need you to stay here. It's safer for you here. And with your new treatment plan it'll be easier to monitor you. You're going to be feeling a lot sicker I'm afraid. So we need to keep you here where it's safe for you." Dr Bailey tells her.
Meredith's eyes instantly well up with tears. "But I want my own bed." She protests weakly.
"Hey Mer, think of it this way. I can visit you during the day while I'm working. If you were at home I wouldn't be able to leave during the day to come see you but since you'll be here I can stop by and see you." Cristina says.
"Yeah." Meredith whispers. "Where's Derek?"
"He's talking to Richard about taking time off." Bailey tells her.
"Oh." Meredith says. "I feel bad. It's just because I'm sick. I'm ruining everything."
"No, you are not ruining everything! Don't say that again Grey! You didn't ask to get cancer. This is not your fault. Derek is taking more time off because he wants to be there for you. Your treatment is about to get a lot harder unfortunately and he wants to be there for you." Bailey says.
Meredith nods. "I want to go back to sleep. I'm tired." She whispers.
"Go back to sleep Mer. I'll be here when you wake up." Cristina tells her and rubs her back.
Meredith closes her eyes and is sound asleep instantly.
"She's not okay Bailey. I can tell by her breathing that she's sleeping already! She's exhausted and it's only going to get worse."
Bailey sighs. "Keep an eye on her vitals for me please. I'll be back in a while to start the first round of IL-2."
Bailey leaves the room after taking on more glance at Meredith's pale face.
"Meredith, you have to get better, you just have to. I can't live without my person. I need you. I need my twisted sister." Cristina tells her sleeping person.
Meredith whimpers in response while sleeping. Her arm tightens around Cristina's waist and cuddles more into her body.
"I love you Meredith Grey. You're my person. You better beat this."
